Accessing application 11.5.7 through internet and behind firewall
Hi,
We are going to install Oracle application 11.5.7 on Sunsolaris 8 on Single Node. We want to access our application through internet i.e www.abc.com/myapplications, is it possible. what are the prerequistes for this.
And one more thing, our application are going to be behind firewall. what are all the precautions do I need to take before I install.
Are there any documents in the metalink or in any other website.
Any help on this is highly appreciated.

in apps when you are connecting to database using sqlplus you should mention the service name too.this could be generally your sid name , for example : system/manager@prod.
regarding your second query sysadmin is the default username created by apps to carry out the system administration , and this user has number of responsibilities defined , out of which application developer is one such responsibility. so when you login using this username then you have to metion to the apps by what responsibility you want to carry with you.
if you want to directly login to application developer responsibility ,then create one user and assign him this responsibility. login with this user.
Any way you have one more default user is there called operations and password is welcome

I have a small intranet setup where we have developed applications using Oracle 10g, Developer suite10g
using windows server OS 2003 and for application server in windows xp.
This works fine locally.
Now the client wants to access this application from another location through internet.
They do not have any domain name registered or website .
Please tell me how to go about this and access the application from another location through

I had FF 4.0 Beta 12. While deleting some Wild Tangent games, everything went black and I haven't been able to get to Firefox since, (about 7-8 weeks. I click on the desktop icon for FF and I do get the FF screen with the FF icon on top left and the minimize, maximize and exit icons on the top right. However, the screen is just white and I can't open anything up. This is driving me crazy because the only way I can get to the internet is through IE and I hate it. I do get a crash report from FF and I fill it out and send it in with my email but I hear nothing from FF because I don;t think you get the report. I want my FF back and I'm going very frustrated trying everything and nothing works. Please, please help me if you can. Thanks, Cathy

Portal Access through Internet

We have a requirement like the following:
We are developing a portal application. We need to access that through Intranet as well as through Internet.
The problem is that, for Internet (logged in as anonymous user), the look and feel and navigation of the pages are very different from that of Intranet, but the content is the same for both Intranet and Internet. Basically, the JSP templates are different for Internet and Intranet.
Do we need to deploy different applications to make this happen? Can we customize the navigation menu and look and feel diffently for Internet and Intranet from the same application?
Please suggest any ideas if you have.

if you have different JSP templates, it's up to you to create different applications (for different users? roles?! how to differentiate?) or to make the usage of the JSPs of the application itself flexible (so that the application decides at runtime which template will be used).

In general you can customize the look and feel of the portal: System Administration -- Portal Display -- Theme Editor.

Hi all,
Currently we are having an mainframe application which is accessed through internet. In the website of client there is a link which navigates to this application. Once the user enter the VPN credentials it lets us to access the data.
But currently they want to integrate this application into portal. Without making portal as external facing is there a way by which they can access this application through their website ->portal.

just create a URL iView for the Portal and preview the iview ...obtain the URL and stick that URL in your website with a proper SSL encryption....
make sure you understand the concepts of SSL and the use of web disptacher if you plan on using the portal on the internet.....also make sure you have the URL filtering so only specific URL's can be accessed via SSL... -
EBS server access through internet
Hello Friends
I want to access EBS R12 server through internet real IP. All of my ports are blocked for security access. My EBS access port is 8015 and TNS port is 1536. I have opened 8010 port now I can open EBS login screen but I can’t open any entry screen. My question is all of you that is it require to open another port or ports like 1536.
I will be very much happy if any body can replay very quickly.

How do you get this error? When logging to the application? What does Apache log file say (error_log and access_log)?

UWL giving "Page Cannot be Displayed" when accessed through Internet
Dear all,
We have exposed our portal to Internet and are currently testing the functionality.
All applications are working fine except UWL and Identity Management. UWL is working fine if I'm not using the Webdynpro UI for display.
Later we checked. Only the Webdynpro based applications are having problem when accessing through Internet.
What can be the reason for this? Please help. We are stuck up because of this.

1. Enter the Hosts enteries of R/3 and EP server.
2. Try to ping the r/3 & EP server outside your network.

Accessing Intranet Web application (protected by Agent) through Gateway

I have installed Sun Portal Server in one machine and SRAGateway on different machine and also I have an intranet Web Application server(not accessable through internet), is protected by Access Manager Policy Agent.
I am just displaying this web application Url in a portal desktop . So when user access the Gateway (https://host.com) , after successful authentication he can able to see the portal desktop with web application url. After clicking this url he can enter in to the Web Application.
I am able to enter into the portal desktop , but when I click the web application url its giving the following error" (https://gatwayhost.domain.com/http://websver.domain.com)
"Unable to connect to the host, Contact Administrator
Please help me to solve this.
Thanks in AdvanceWe use a reverse proxy because we had specific requirements. It's more complex than just using the rewriter proxy and maybe not the best solution for you.
The setup is quite simple, you install an apache server (with mod_proxy module) , you install the access manager agent on top of apache and you set the httpd.conf to tell the apache to act as a reverse proxy.
You tell the gateway to use the reverse proxy instead of the real site. In our case we simply add a line poiting to the reverse proxy for the server name in the /etc/hosts file.
You open the http port 80 in your firewall from the gateway to the apache reverse proxy and from the apache to the intranet website.
And it's done. -
FTP - How to be accessed by external internet and some issues

I am looking foward to set up an FTP server on my Mac Pro. It's purposed for my digital photos I take of much of my friends, and personally don't like websites for such hosting. (Yes, copy pasting into a folder is so lazy )
So starting the FTP was indeed easy. Thanks to Mac OS X technologies. (And Apple too)
But I've tried connecting to my own FTP, and wasen't sure how to do it exactly.
It appears I just can't browse it like a normal web page (through FireFox and Safari), so I though of connecting with the Finder, but it showed me this error:
(It asked for my username and password, which I didn't knew, so simply hit enter, then showed me:)
The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "ftp://127.0.0.1" could not be read or written.
(Firefox returned me an error: "503 User anonymous unknown" and safari... well went opening that very same page inside firefox!)
Searching within the help, I couldn't find my answer and came here.
Also, I was wondering which folder was acting as the ftp folder? And were can I setup this?
I have also these basic problem with Personal Web Sharing (which could be useful for my project) but that's something different.
I understand I am asking quite much stuff here, but my search on the internet did not answered me. If you have any article that could be useful, I'd thank you if you could drop a line or two! I have an iPad 2 and receive e-mail through regular internet connection. Lately, when I delete e-mails, and clear my Trash folder, they re-appear, downloaded anew from the server and marked as unread. My e-mail Advanced Settings are selected for "Remove from server when moved from Inbox." Even when I access the e-mail accountfrom my desktop and delete the e-mails, the re-appear on my iPad. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and what I can do to actually delete them?
Sounds like you are looking in the wrong Administrative Group container which is why you are seeing your Exchange 2010 servers in there.
When you install Exchange 2003 only you will see a container named by default as "CN=First Administrative Group" container. But this could be named anything if you changed the Organization Name on the installation when you installed the first
Exchange 2003 server into the domain/forest.
You will notice that when you install Exchange 2010 part of the AD setup is to create a new configuration container and is named by default "CN=First Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)".
So it sounds like you are not looking in the right location within ADSIEdit.

I recommend though that you ensure your Exchange 2003 servers are fully uninstalled or no longer present in your environment before you go deleting the Servers container though.. The following Microsoft article will help with this:

I have been using firefox for years. I downloaded the latest version and at the conclusion of the down load I was refussed access to the internet. Something about Proxy???? I checked my firewalls and security and they said that mozilla was allowed but everytime I attempt to gain access I am refused. I cant access the internet and I cant download another program to access the internet. I uninstalled Firefox and attempted to reinstall but after uninstalling Firefox I have no means to reinstall because there are no traces of it on my computer and I no longer have access to the internet. What do I do? I cant access my e mails, stored messages, favorites etc etc.

Access to the time capsule harddrive through internet.

I bought a few months ago a Time capsule and it is working perfeclty as a network and hard drive under. It is connected to the router unde a bridge mode.
My prooblem is coming when I want to access through internet with my Macbook to my time capsule as it is not possible but according the time capsule specification it is possible to have acces to the harddrive through internet. So it means I have to change soemthing in the setp up on the router (P-2812HNU-F1) or in the time capsule.
Can anyone help me to set up the time capsule and the router accordingly to be able to have acces to the harddrivethrough internet?

If you are having issues you need to tell us more..
Sometimes it seems the TC in bridge will not work.. if that is the case, then you must see if you can rearrange your network so the TC is the main router.
Or you need to use a manual access method.
This requires using a static public IP (Check with your ISP.. this is by far the best method) or use a dyndns service.. and port forward 548 TCP to the TC.. there are thousands of posts and youtube videos with the info. Just look up "remote access time capsule"
