Accessing audiobooks on iPod

Apparently, there is no way to access audiobooks except by having to do a general search. Then I can get it and listen to it. It's a bit of a pain. Shouldn't I be able to get it directly from an audiobooks heading as one would do with music?

OK, I did a search in the 3rd Gen. section and found the answer, which I would have done in the first place had I gone to the right discussion area. Sorry. Anyway here is the answer, in case anyone else needs the info. Thank you all.

  • Transfering Audiobooks to ipod video

Hello. Can some one please tell me how to transfer audiobooks that i have on my computer to my ipod video please, i dont see an audiobook folder in itunes ( on the left panel) and i dont see any drop downs to put the files into the right place on the ipod .....thanks for any help
    Sager Notebook Windows XP

In iTunes, select "Add File to Library". In the Add File dialog, navigate to the location of your audiobook content on your hard drive, select the file you want to add, then click "Open".
This adds the file to your iTunes library, but you may have to edit file details to get audiobooks to show up where you want them in iTunes and on the iPod. After a given audiobook file has been added in iTunes, right-click on it and select "Get Info" from the pop-up menu. On the "Info" tab, enter "Audiobook" for genre, author name for "Artist", whatever title you'd like to appear in iTunes / on your iPod, and whatever other info you'd like. After you sync your iPod, your audiobook files can be easily accessed on the iPod by selecting Music - Genre - Audiobook from the menu. Creating a playlist of audiobooks will also make them easy to find in iTunes.

my ipod account has been accessed from another ipod and now it won't let me download anything...What Do I do?

Not sure what you are talking about.
Your ITUNES account can be accessed from any device or computer that has itunes, as long as you have your username and password.  Using your itunes account from another device does not affect your ability to use the account from your device.

If you cannot remember the passcode for your iPod Touch, you'll need to connect it to your computer and iTunes library in Recovery Mode and restore it there.  See this article for steps on getting your iPod Touch into recovery mode.

  • Can you purchase Internet access for newest iPod Touch?

I bought a touch for a friend for Christmas - he does not have tv/internet/telephone service - he gets internet on his Toshiba laptop through a Verizon aircard thing he plugs into a USB port. I could not figure out a way to get wifi to work on the Touch, or to even get the Bluetooth working so he can have wifi while near the laptop. Is there a way to just purchase internet access to the ipod so he can have access anywhere he goes? Or does anyone know a way to get the bluetooth to work from the Toshiba laptop to the iPod Touch?
    Thank you!

The iPod will not tether via bluetooth to a computer for internet access. You should be able to turn the laptop w/aircard into a wireless access point (like a router) so the the iPod can connect via wifi to the internet. Just Google "laptop as a wifi hotspot" and you will get many hits.

  • Import new music/audiobooks to iPOd

My computer completely crashed with all my iTunes downloads. I have the music and audiobooks on my iPod Classic. Since then I installed iTunes again and downloaded more music and audiobooks. However, my iPod will not take them as it is "not synced" with my new iTunes. It wants to delete all my currently installed iPod stuff before allowing me to download anything new. Is there a way around this?

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    Floola Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Organizing Audiobooks for ipod

    Here it is:
I have many audiobooks that are in iTunes and on my iPod. They're in the correct audiobook locations for itunes and ipod.
My problem is that on the ipod, when I go to audiobooks, it's just a list of individual tracks. Many of them have been copied from my CDs so there's many files per audiobook (that's how I like it--so I'd rather not put them in one gigatic file per book.
Right now, my audiobooks just show a list, like if I went under | Music > Songs | and it just lists all my songs on the ipod.
Is there a way to set up the audiobooks on an ipod so that when I get on my ipod I can go...
Audiobooks > Albums > (show list of books) Harry Potter > (shows list of Harry Potter book) Half-Blood Prince > Chapter One
    Thank you.

Man, that is a bummer. About a 3/4 of my audiobooks are correctly chaptered and titled, but that's years of work that I'd hate to do again.
Looks like playlists are the only real way to go for easy access.
Thanks tt2--I found the link very informative on many things that I hadn't even thought of, so thank you for that.
And thank you for your quick replies.

  • CANNOT delete audiobooks from ipod

I have just discovered audiobooks for my "reading" and love it. I have 2 books that I am done with and want to delete them from my 8g ipod. All my itunes screen says is books, it does not show what audiobooks, so i am not able to check or uncheck them when I sync my ipod.
Also, since I got windows 7 I have also not had the same itunes screen with all my playlists on the side. It was nice to have.

  • Audiobooks on iPod Classic, 3rd Gen

I just downloaded an 8-volume audiobook from my county library. The only way I can locate the book after download is through iTunes - Recently Added. I can't find it by sorting Album or Artist. When I eject the iPod, I there is no Audiobooks selection. How can I locate this book to replay it?

Ok, I guess I just got smarter because I just figured it out. I had to go to the Settings, Main Menu and make sure that Audiobooks was checked. It was previously unchecked and that's why it didn't show up on my Main Menu.
    Thanks anyway,

  • Audiobooks on Ipod Classic 160GB

I have some audiobooks in my iTunes, organised into different books, each separated into chapters (20-30 minute mp3 tracks, just changed to media type "audiobook").
They are all fine, and remain grouped together as books in my iTunes, but not on my iPod.  When I open the Audiobooks section on my iPod, the chapters from various books appear, all jumbled and random, impossible to listen to in sequence.
I have no problem playing through them on my iTunes, but cannot figure out how to group them into folders etc. on my iPod.
I'd be very grateful for some advice, thank you.

  • How I can arrange my audiobooks on ipod classic by itunes?

    hello everyone
I got iPod classic 80 GB and I have old mp3 audiobbok "10 chapters", so I converted it to m4b "10 m4b files" then I put it in the right place on the itunes and sync with my ipod without ant problems.
    _So my problem is :_
my audiobook has 10 chapters and they appear on the ipod like 10 Audiobooks !??
But I want to appear like one audiobook and when I open it I want to see 10 chapters
*Plz don't tell me make a playlist or jone chapters in one file.*
I heard there is program called "Audiobook Builder" on Mac OS and it can solve my problem. But I am Windows user and I don't have mac
    {anyone has informations about this program plz write it down}
Finally, sorry about my bad writing

One .m4b file is one book. Two .m4b files are two books . . . That's how iTunes/iPod work. There is no way around it except for the playlist option, which you've rejected.

  • Can no longer access wifi with ipod touch

  • Can't access audiobooks

iI can't find my audiobooks on iTunes. I have read that only one download is allowed. If we are paying full price for the book ( not cheap!) we should be able to access and download as often as we like. Other wise charge a rental similar to movies with limited down load time.  Any  suggestioms as to where to find previously purchased audiobooks on iTunes. Thanks

If you buy them directly on your iPad then you can copy them over to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, they should go into the Books part of your iTunes library (Audiobooks if using a Mac with Yosemite or Mavericks on it) - you can then take a backup copy of it.
As far as I'm aware audible.com supply all the audiobooks to Apple, so I assume that it's them that are requiring the one-time only download. Other items (music, films etc) are only redownloadable whilst they remain in your country's store (rights-holders could remove their items at any time) and if you don't move countries, so as well as taking a backup copy of any audiobooks that you buy you should also take a backup copy of every other download and not rely on being able to redownload them in the future.
