Accessing cache server of JRun
Hi there,
I am writing a .NET app that ports data from one database to
another. The destination database is used by a JRun v3.01 server
application. The cache server of JRun is used to store the next
primary key for every table in the database (no auto-incrementing
values). The problem is, my export app sometimes takes an ID that
the cache server is going to use next, and then obviously an error
occurs. However, if I restart the server for my application, and
then try to export, then it works successfully as the cache was
cleared and the latest ID value was retrieved, even if I did the
export using my new application. Does anyone know how I can access
this cache server from my .NET application?
Thanks a lot!!
hey
u can use mozilla,i use that, but u need to give the host name for XI server in the drivers.>etc folder on ur local PC.use Java 1.4.2
thanx

Architectural Choice for accessing Coherence Cache Server
I am a newbie and have a coherence use-case question.
When accessing an independent coherence cache server from application code such as an EJB deployed in WLS, architecturally does one write up an entity which is then used as a sole point of
access to the resource (coherence cache server) for querying, adding, modifying entries or are the accesses to the coherence cache server split and spread among the application code.
For example,
1. I write an EJB (EJB 1) which recieves the request from other EJB's (EJB 2, EJB 3), EJB 1 runs requests from EJB2 and EJB 3 on the Coherence Cache Server and acts as the sole point of
contact to the resource.
2. EJB 2 and EJB 3 both run requests against the coherence cache server. No fixed entity in architecture repsonsible for interaction with Coherence Cache Server.
Which is more common ?stevephe wrote:
Yes you could treat Coherence as a "pluggable" resource, just like a database. But that, just like in the case of a database, wouldn't boil it down to a single entity/interface. You'd treat Coherence as a "integration tier" resource that you'd "plumb in" just like you would a database, thus shielding your application's "domain" objects from integration-level concerns. That's how I've tiered our application, although we aren't inside a container like Weblogic/WebSphere/etc. The domain objects specify their persistence requirements via a multiplicity of interfaces; those interfaces have a number of implementations in the integration tier, one set of which just happens to be a Coherence set. You can use a "registry" approach to pick up the appropriate implementations (we use Spring injection.) Have a look at the Coherence book from Apress for more details.Apress? You mean Packt, don't you?

How to apply Qos in the precedence of cache server
m in an isp and iwant to apply the QOS to enhance my network internet performance
actually i have two requests , i will start with showing brief topology about my network and start asking the questions .
here is the topology below :
from the topology above , my access is only on R1 which is BGP internet gateway router and R2 is my ISP router.
1- i want to apply Qos on R1 so that a subnet of 32 ips to have gurantee bandwidth of 30M .
assume the subnet is 10.20.30.0/27 that need to be bw gurantee .
2- i want the download traffic by idman or ftp on my Router R1 dont exceed 50 % of my total bw .
i mean that i have 450M bandwith from my isp , & sometimes we have a slow in browsing , so i want to enhance the browsing quality because its more important that downloading files from internet.
here is my two requests above , i dont know how it will work with the precedence of the cache server .
anyway , i will paste my config of router and i will replace my puplic ips with xxx for privacy .

Regards
Kannan KKannan,
the error in your logs like "NoClassDefFoundError" etc. point us towards issues with jar files. either they are missing or not the correct ones.
A general practice in such situation is to
stop all servers except CMS,IFRS,OFRS > repair the base installation
OR
If you have a working environment with the exact same patch, copy the 'lib' folder from "/bobje/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/java/" to the non-working server.
PS: please attach the logs to the thread instead of pasting the content.
-Nikhil Nair -
Hi,
We have installed content server and it is working fine. We would like to install cache server to access content server from different location to reduce the access time. Is there any document/guide to link cache server to the existing content server.
For ex.When the user in Delhi stores the original, it has to route through cache server (Located at Delhi) to the content server (Located at Chennai) and get stored in Content server.
My mail ID is [email protected]
PrasannaHi Prasanna,
the installation of a cache server is pretty similar to a content sever. Therefore it's covered in the installation guide of the content server. You find the installation guide on
http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Netweaver -> SAP Netweaver 7.0 (NW2004S) -> Installation
In the Window scroll down to the end. You find the Installtion Guides under
3 - Installation - Standalone Engines - > Installation - Content Server 6.40 on UNIX
3 - Installation - Standalone Engines - > Installation - Content Server 6.40 on Windows
On http://service.sap.com/ContentServer you find additional information including an FAQ answering your questions on the cache server.
Bye, Michael -
Hi,
1. What is the procedure to copy originals from local content server to central content servers located at different geographical locations. (There is a report SAPKROTP, but i am unable to execute it). Even if copy it, will it display in DIR as two different files.
2. About Cache server : As name implies it is a temp storage and based on reference from SAP help and few other documents, it is very clear that documents cannot be checked in cache server. Also We are not defining cache server in OAC0 and OACT settings. Hence Can we check-in originals in cache server?.
If any of you have worked with multiple caching and multiple content server distributed environment, please mail me the document. My mail id is [email protected]

<b>Points will be awarded for useful answers</b>Hi Prasanna,
A Cache Server is used to store copies of documents when they are accessed for the first time. As a result, the documents can be accessed again more quickly, since the contents are taken directly from the Cache.
With Cache the Originals documents are stored in one location on content server. The copies in the cache can be replaced with newer content at any time.
The Original document will still be located on the Content Server
The Content Server can Retrieve the cache Content at any time
As earlier i had told you that any number of content servers can be installed in different locations. The contents are transferred directly b/w the client & content server. If the Content server are accessed from different locations that are linked via WAN cache servers should be used.
You need to install one Cache Server at each location on WAN for enhancing the performance & Reducing the traffic in Network. So Cache server is used only for speeding up accesses of documents stored.
For Customizing the Multilayer Cache Servers & Content Servers follow this SAP NOTE <b>0216419</b>
Hope following this Note will help you & solve your problem.

The Security Token Service is not available error on dedicated Distributed Cache server
I have an error on a dedicated Distributed Cache server stating that the Security Token Service is not available. I was under the impression that when Distributed Cache was running on a dedicated server that the only service that should be enabled
is Distributed Cache.
The token service is working as expected on all other servers but this one. Does this service need to be started or should I just ignore this error message?
Jennifer Knight (MCITP, MCPD)as per my little experience with 2013, if STS is working fine on Web server then I am sure that sharepoint will be fine...Distributed cache stores the ST issued by STS. NO need to worry about this error.
Token Cache
DistributedLogonTokenCache
This
cache stores the security token issued by a Secure Token Service for use by any web server in the server farm. Any web server that receives a request for resources can access the security token from the cache, authenticate the user, and provide access to the
resources requested.
I would say check the ULS logs and get more details about the error why its not working on that server.
Please remember to mark your question as answered &Vote helpful,if this solves/helps your problem. ****************************************************************************************** Thanks -WS MCITP(SharePoint 2010, 2013) Blog: http://wscheema.com/blog -
How can i see the content of the cache server 2 ?
How can i see the content of the cache server 2 ?
Caching server is backed by an sqlite database. If you want to see what you currently have downloaded, you can glean some information by accessing the database. Use this command to connect to the database:
sudo sqlite3 /Library/Server/Caching/Data/AssetInfo.db
Once connected, you can use .tables to see the tables in the database but the one with the most information appears to be ZASSET. Use:
select * from ZASSET;
To list the current contents. You will get a series of records similar to the following:
26|1|5|0|868991341|402440412.42114|402507221.969799|ffaf18a45cd5dd5e853233629036 5767|30B9108D-ABE4-4061-A2E0-42E91301249B|Fri, 06 Sep 2013 18:21:34 GMT|/content/downloads/14/11/091-9722/ognnjd4fno85m4pbapjtnv23b7rf1mkufx/OSXUpd Combo10.8.5.pkg|
Note that the final value is a human recognizable name of the package. However, you may also see items like this:
125|1|4|0|11622676|406739736.508118|406739736.508125|4f1f9b08b32f9f6211e4569604b 1efef|481BF3D9-99BB-415F-ADB6-860EDD24B08E|Thu, 14 Nov 2013 10:24:30 GMT|/us/r1000/032/Purple6/v4/37/a3/d2/37a3d2f7-2594-8224-7eda-712f17a3fd8b/mzps 6227198657217312566.D2.pd.ipa|
This is an iOS application. There is no real way that I know of yet to match the package name (mzps6227198657217312566.D2.pd.ipa) to a product name.

How to connect SQL server using JRun
I am relatively dumb into Java. I am running JRun server in Unix box, and I need to connect to the SQL server (full marks for guesssing that SQL server is on the Win2K box).
Now I want to connect to the SQL server from Jrun using JSPs.
Question:
1. Is JDBC:ODBC only way to connect to the SQL server, if yes -
2. Do I have to create a DSN on the server for the JDBC:ODBC bridge to work
3. Can I write my own database connection package,
Appreciate if any body can help me with this problem, and if you have written a package to connect to the database, then would be nice if you would let me try the same.
If you have any responses, please email me at [email protected]
Thanks in Advance for the anticipated help.
Viviar PrasadHi Prasad,
There is two ways(what I have done) to connect to sql server in jRun..
1) using your jdbc - odbc connectivity using your type one jdbc driver..
2) using type 4 driver.. (type 2 and 3 are not available right now for sql server)
in 1 you have to create an dsn and use it directly in program bypassing jrun management console(I mean u don't have to configure for that)
in 2 case you need to use jrun proprietery driver for the jdbc... there is a problem here..
this driver is available in Jrun 3.0 enterprise edition only and still has got some problem so you need to apply service pack-2 to your Jrun installation and need to download the driver.. jdbc driver from following link
ftp://ftp.allaire.com/kbftp/jrun/all/jrun_drivers.jar.zip
this will suply a html doc along with the driver . which will explain you how to apply..
you can download jdbc driver specilly for sql server from this link http://www.j-netdirect.com/jsqlconnect2_26.zip
but it will expire in a month..
any way once you have obtain any of the above driver, follow these step to configure jdbc in jrun.. you need to put the driver in the classpath..
1 - open your management console
2- select the webapplication for which you want to configure from left frame of mc(management console)
3- select jdbc data source click the add button and follow the wizard..
for more info ref to jrun quick start configuring jdbc settings that came with your JRun..
or you can directly click the link there and type
the name of the
first
datasource(you have supply any name you will be using that to access db in your java prog)
second name of the the jdbc driver
for Jrun it's
allire.jrun.jdbc.JRunDriver
for net direct
com.jnetdirect.jsql.JSQLDriver
third
url for jrun driver
jdbc:jrun:sqlserver://hostname:portno/databasename = dbname; USER = uname; Password = password
where dbname is your database name
uname is your sql server user name e.g sa
password is your password for the corresponding user name
where hostname is the name of the computer where your sqlserver is running it could be an ip e.g 10.0.0.32:1433
1433 is the default port no for the sqlserver if you are using tcp protocol to connect to the sql server
url for net direct
jdbc:JSQLConnect//hostname:port/databasename=dbname; USER =uname; Password = password
for any more information on this you can mail me in this id
[email protected]
All the best..

Mapviewer cache server security
I have an Oracle Application Server with MapViewer deployed
There are some map tile layers prefetched so all the files are in <tile_storage default_root_path> directory.
Also there is an application that uses mapviewer
but if I write in the browser host:port/mapviewer/mcserver?request=gettile&format=PNG&zoomlevel=0&mapcache=name&mx=1&my=2, I get the image.
How can I restrict access to mapviewer cache server to nonauthenticated users, so the prefetched images could be accessed only through my application.
Thanks.Hi!
First of all you can enable security constraints for +/mapviewer/*+ pages in you app server. -
Hi,
We have installed the content server quite long back and it is working fine. Now as part of plant rollout we are installing cache server for other locations. We have installed cache server. But We have few doubts in configuring. Can sombody has any material wrt cache server configuration (like SCMSHO,SCMSCA...) with screen shots.

i would want to know the main system parameters involved in the management of the cache server. Indeed our cacher server fills up until it's full and then some entries are deleted after some delay; i don't know which parameters manage these events.

Caching Server receives non-whitelisted requests
I run a OSX Caching Server on a 10.8.3 Mountain Lion System. While this update server solution works fine for most of the client computers, one client causes unusual requests:
2013/04/01 09:51:36:104 Request for non-whitelisted URL denied (http://192.168.42.3:53783/)
THis message is generated from each attempt to access a Mac Appstore Download (this one was for the Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 update) and after using this URL, the client simply ignores the caching server and moves on downloading this assets from Apples source servers.
The client is a Protina MBP running the official 10.8.3 build.

Caching server does not always cache. AppleId?
Under the services menu (Server version 4) I have Caching enabled.
The promise of this functionality thrilled me when I first discovered it. I have a family of Mac users, 5 laptops, 4 iPads, and 5 iPhones. Internet wise we are out of ADSL range and have to use 3G wireless data modems for access. This is fantastically expensive and we try to keep bandwidth usage to a minimum. Hence the promise of downloading once and having application updates cached automatically was wonderful.
However in some cases it seems to work wonderfully and others not at all. My guess is that many apps are individually coded to the AppleId of the end user and that unless you are using the same AppleId for all users the caching server is of limited use. Is this a good guess? Why would some apps not cache? Any suggestions?
Many thanks for your time.
MarkThank you Brenden.
That page was helpful but does not get to the root of my issue.
I listened to Steve Gibson spend 3 podcast episodes of Security Now elaborating on the fine details of iOS security some months ago. I seem to remember (and I may have this confused) that much of the content that the Apple systems download is encrypted using among other things the AppleId of the purchaser. This is not just a DRM measure but a security measure. It wont let code run unless it is verified. What I suspect the implication is for me and for caching services is that only shared content and maybe generic updates to operation system etc (things that are not encrypted with the AppleId as the key) could be cached.
Implication is that given most users in my household are buying their own applications via their own AppleId these files cannot be shared via a caching service. Hence if one daughter is using her own version of Final Cut tied to her AppleId and another has a different version of Final Cut tied to her AppleId (stupid example) but when an update becomes available the multiple gigabyte file is downloaded twice and ironically cached twice.
The above is only conjecture on my part but seems to fit with what is happening.
Does anyone here know the facts as to this?
Would love to know.
thanks again,
Mark
