Accessing certain folders within a SharePoint library by groups

Hello there!
Please, guys, give me some clarification. Is it possible at all to allow or prohibit access to a certain folder within SharePoint 365 library. A folder contais some files that I want a certain group of users to have access to it.
What I have now is to allow access to a certain file in the library which is quite laborious as long as I have more than 5000 documents in the library groupped into 50+ folders. Could I make some automatization in order to allow access to a folder for
a certain group of users automatically accordingly to an event in the calendar?

Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that to you want to grant a certain group of users to have access to a certain folder within SharePoint 365 library.
Navigate to the document library with the folders. Click on “…”then select “Shared With”, next click Advanced.
 there should be an option for Manage Permissions. From there you will have to break the permissions inheritance (there should be a link or option called Edit permissions). Once the inheritance is broken, you can add or remove people as needed.

  • Hide Folders within a Sharepoint?

    Is it possible, using any combination of POSIX and ACL permissions, under X Server 10.4.3, to render folders inside a sharepoint invisible except to those with permissions to view their contents?
    I have the typical situation where I don't want one client to know that another exists. I'd need this to work for AFP, SMB, and FTP.
    I'm aware that similar functionality can be achieved by creating a sharepoint for each client, but I have way too many clients for that.
    I'd appreciate some advice. Experimenting is seriously hindered by having to restart the server to make changes in folder permissions take effect. (Egaads - what a bug.)
    Thanks,

  • I don't have permission to access certain folders in my external hard drive?

    Every year at my college, we get our laptops re-imaged and completely wiped of all their data for new programs, etc. Prior doing this, I backed up all my files onto a WD external hard drive. This is not the first time I've gotten my macbook wiped or used the hard drive, so I am not sure why I'm experiencing problems this time around. In the hard drive I am able to access the Applications folder, but all the rest of the folders such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures, etc. which is located in the Users folder under my previous user acc, have a tiny no entry symbol on the bottom right corner. When I click on the folder it tells me "The folder "blahbalh" can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents."
    The only security the drive has on it is an initial prompt for a password that I enter once the hard drive is plugged into my mac. There are no problems there. So why don't I have permission to view certain folders?
    Any help would be appreciated. I have all my work on there. Thanks.

    First make sure you have read & write access to the folder you're trying to restore to. You should be able to see its contents in the Finder, and to move files in and out of it.
    This is an exception to the rule that you should never make any changes to backup data. I've tested this procedure in OS X 10.8 only. It should work with later versions, but I don't know whether it works in earlier versions. Use this procedure  only for files that were backed up from your home folder, or a folder on another volume created by you, and would normally be writable by you. Do not touch backups of system or application files.
    In the Finder (not in the time-travel view), navigate to the backup volume, then to the folder named "Backups.backupdb", and then to the snapshot you want to restore from. The snapshots are folders labeled with the date when they were created. Inside each of those folders is a file hierarchy like the one on the volume that was backed up. Descend through the hierarchy until you come to a folder named "Users," and inside that, a folder with your user name. The procedure will be different if you're trying to restore files on another volume.
    Select the folder and open the Info dialog (command-I). Click the padlock icon in the lower right corner of the window and authenticate. In the Sharing & Permissions section, give your account Read & Write access. You may have to close the dialog and repeat this step in order for the change to show up. Then click the gear icon and select Apply to Enclosed Items from the popup menu.
    Try the restore operation again, in the time-travel interface.

  • Can't Access Public Folders Within Outlook, But Can Through Web Access

    Hi all,
    I have an Exchange 2010 Server (V14.02.0387.000) with clients using Outlook 2007-2013. Until recently all users could access all public folders without issue. However, since moving the location of the public and private mailboxes on the server (to new drives
    with more space and defragging etc), a number of users are unable to access the public folders, getting error "Cannot expand the folder. the attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange has failed". However, when they log in through Outlook Web Access,
    they can view the public folders without issue.
    I've tried restarting all the Exchange services, as well as multiple reboots of the server.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Bob

    I'm going to start with some general advice.  Don't bother running ESEUTIL anymore to reduce database sizes.  If you find you need to do that, simply create a new database, move all the mailboxes to it, and then delete the old database.
    If you created a new public folder database, did you change the mailbox databases to point to it using Set-MailboxDatabase -PublicFolderDatabase?

  • Why are the folders within my Iphoto Library folder empty when I have 16000 photos in Iphoto.

    I discovered this when I went to move my Iphoto library to an external drive. Eventhough I have 1600 photos in Iphoto my Iphoto Library folder only contains 3.5MB and the Attachments, Masters, Previews and Thumbnails folders are empty. Therefore if I drag this folder (Iphoto Library) to my external hard drive which is what every advice site says to do when backing up Iphoto, I will lose all of my photos. When I see screenshots of the Iphoto folder in the support communities I see the Iphoto icon beside the Iphoto Library in Finder-Pictures but I just have a folder icon.
    I am using Iphoto '11 on a 2012 27" Imac running Mountain Lion and want to move Iphoto to an external drive to free up space.

    Are you saying that iPhoto is working fine and has 1600 photos in it but when you look in the iPhoto library ther are no photos in Masters, previews or thumbnails? If so then you are not looking at the iPhoto library that iPhoto is using - under the file menu do to the switch library command and seelect it - it will show available iPhoto libraries and the one you are using will be highlighted

  • I can't change print sizes in certain folders!

    This is a maddening problem!
    I have an HP 8750, which I have no problems with.
    I just got a Kodak 5100 printer. The problem is that in certain folders, if I try to change the print size of an image, say Letter to Borderless 4x6, it doesn't stick! In the upper left region, it'll show the new size I selected, but the margins, cell size, image size, etc., don't change.
    This only happens in certain folders within the Library! If I move an image from a folder that has the problem into another folder that's working properly, I can resize the images in that folder. If I move it back to the "bad" folder, it won't work again. Likewise, taking an image from a good folder to a bad one makes it so I can't change the size.
    This only happens with the 5100 printer. If I switch to the HP, I can set the paper size just fine, even in a "bad" folder. If I switch back to the 5100, it goes back to the size I set before.
    It also only happens in Lightroom. If I export the image into Photoshop, it works fine.
    I'm thinking this is a bug.

    Here's a random sampling of folder names that work and don't work:
    works:
    E:\Digital Photos\Maria2
    E:\Digital Photos\Maria and Lei\Lollipop
    doesn't work:
    E:\Digital Photos\Maria and Lei\Yellow
    E:\Digital Photos\Maria
    E:\Digital Photos\London\fig
    E:\Digital Photos\London\rejects
    Notice there are 2 subfolders of E:\Digital Photos\Maria and Lei\, and one works, one doesn't.
    Now I haven't systematically checked every file in any particular folder, but if I find that one file in a folder works or doesn't work, every other file I randomly pick so far has also worked or not worked just like the first one.

  • Can I create folders within iWorks applications?

    How do you create folders within Pages or Number? I want to file documents locally by category.

    I'm certain you're aware of this already - if not, the new update (version 1.4) allows creation of folders within Pages, allowing you to group relevant documents to your own specification. Hope it helps (...sure has for me!)

  • File Sharing with user on MacBook Pro, restrict access to certain folders

    I work on my iMac mostly and have 3 external drives hooked into the iMac. I have file sharing turned on because I want to be able to access these external drives on my macbook pro. I can get into all my drives as planned. However, I have a user on the macbook where I want to restrict them from seeing certain folders on those external drives.
    For instance, I have budget documents in a folder on one of those drives along with family photos in another folder. I want this user to be able to access the folder of fam photos but not access the folder of my budget docs. How do I do this?
    I tried "get info" on that specific folder and selected the "write only (drop box)" option and that doesn't work, that user can still open and see all the budget docs. I believe I've even tried removing them from that folder on the "get info" box. Either way, that folder is still accessible for all.
    Please help!!!!!!!

    Response appreciated but the easiest way to handle the problem, is being able to restrict 2 or 3 folders which is what I can't figure out how to do. Maybe there is no way to do this. I have spent a good deal of time organizing the folders in the first place, and with some of these things being related to my business, it would be more of a headache and major issue, to reorganize these folders. Things are very well organized, I just don't want certain users to have access to a couple of the folders as those certain folders have income related and budget related information.
    So my issue is really, not about re-organizing or any of that, but merely, how to I set a folder to where a certain user doesn't have access to that certain folder.
    You wouldn't think that would be too difficult, but then again, maybe it is just something that can't be done. I would think it'd be as easy as opening the "get info" on that certain folder, selecting that user and setting it to say "no access" - however, that is not an option in the drop down and I don't know why. It offers, read & write, read only, write only (drop box). Even when I select write only, it still allows that user to see all my files in that folder and access them. So I'm just not sure why "no access" is not listed there as an option.
    Thanks.

  • Unlocking multiple folders within Iphoto Library folder

    I just bought ILife 06 and the pics in iphoto will not upgrade because Im assuming some of the pics within the folders in the Iphoto Library are locked. I transferred a lot of these pics from a cd rom and apparently files transferred in such a way are always locked. Can anyone help me unlock these folders in a way where I don't have to manually unlock all the folders/files... I have about 36,000 pics.

    There are two ways to do it. One is to follow direcetions in this Apple KB document: iPhoto 6: "Unable to upgrade this photo library" message. The other is to download and use BatChmod and drag your iPhoto library folder into the file window like this.

  • Can't get access in Time Machine to certain folders for any date earlier than current date/time.

    Can't get access in Time Machine to certain folders for any date earlier than current date/time, even when entering as Admin. Why do certain folders have small red "-" badge in lower right corner of folder icon?  Here's a picture of the dilemma:
    I've tried monkeying with priveleges using Command I, and changing users, but to no avail.  Can anyone help?

    Right.  Here's what the permissions look like from the Finder Command I:
    I'm not sure what "Custom" means, but when I then try to change it to "Read & Write", it doesn't take.... just comes back as Custom. Interesting to note that not only am I logged into Joan's account where the data folder and file lives) to do this, but when I do it from my own account  as Admin (dunc...mpster) I get the same result.

  • T400s and T500 experiencing slow response time accessing certain websites from within our network

    Hello there.... we have some Lenovo T400s running Windows 7 and T500 running WinXP Pro that are experiencing slow response time when trying to access certain website from within our company network (particularly this global crossing Web meeting, google maps): https://core1.callinfo.com/interface/guest.jsp?host=globalcrossing ... it takes 10-15 minutes before it loads the meeting login screen and same response time for google maps to respond as well... the thing is, other Lenovo T400s, T61, and other HP desktop machines that are connected to the same network in our company does not experience this slow response time... HOWEVER, when these problematic T400s / T500 laptops are connected to external network (e.g. home DSL, hotel DSL/Cable modem) the problem goes away.   Our NETWORK ran tests to monitor traffic to the websites from our company's network but seem to connect just fine... just wondering if anybody out there experienced the same problem and know of a solution.  By the way, the two newer T400s that are experiencing the slow response time have the following BIOS version 1.11 (6HET26WW) and BIOS version 1.09 (6HET24WW).  Then a T400s that is also connected to the same network but not experiencing the problem has a BIOS version of 1.02 (6HET17WW - running WinXP Pro).   NOTE: We also connected a Linksys USB wireless adapter to connect to our wireless network in the company but same problem - and problem occurs even when connected via network cable.  Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

    Network World posted an article about a free response time monitoring tool that would be worth checking out

  • Creating a new folder in a SharePoint library using C# Windows Application.

    I have tried to create a folder within a SharePoint document library. The coding is as follows.
    Text Box Name: txtNewFolderName
    Button Name : btnCreateNewFolder
    private void btnCreateNewFolder_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    //String parameters for site URL and site name
    const string siteUrl = "http://thekingsbury/";
    const string siteName = "/SiteDirectory/thekingsbury/";
    //Freeze UI
    Cursor = Cursors.WaitCursor;
    btnCreateNewFolder.Enabled = false;
    //Use SPSite constructor to assign site collection based on top-level URL
    SPSite siteCollection = new SPSite(siteUrl);
    //Assign target site (SPWeb instance) based on site name
    SPWeb site = siteCollection.AllWebs[siteName];
    //Create an instance of SPDocumentLibrary based on the named doc library list
    SPDocumentLibrary docLibrary = (SPDocumentLibrary)site.Lists["Test Library"];
    //Create instance of SPFolderCollection and add a named folder based on forms input,
    //then update library to reflect added folder
    SPFolderCollection myFolders = site.Folders;
    myFolders.Add("http://thekingsbury/Test%20Library/" + txtNewFolderName.Text + "/");
    docLibrary.Update();
    //UI clean-up
    Cursor = Cursors.Default;
    btnCreateNewFolder.Enabled = true;
    Site URL :
    http://thekingsbury/
    Site Name: thekingsbury
    Document Library  : Test Library
    My problem is when I click the button it gives an error as the following.
    The Web application at http://thekingsbury/ could not be found.
    Verify that you have typed the URL correctly.
    If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application.
    The error shows at the following statement.
    "SPSite siteCollection = new SPSite(siteUrl);"
    I created both Windows & Web solutions and the result was the same.
    Note: I have add the reference to the SharePoint using the Microsoft.SharePoint.dll file. And used the "using Microsoft.SharePoint;" statement.
    Please can someone help me on this matter.It's a real paint to me.

    The complete solution using an InfoPath 2010 form is as the below.
    using Microsoft.Office.InfoPath;
    using System;
    using System.Xml;
    using System.Xml.XPath;
    using Microsoft.SharePoint;
    using Microsoft.SharePoint.Client;
    using Microsoft.SharePoint.Linq;
    namespace Create_Folder_In_SharePoint_Library
    public partial class FormCode
    public void InternalStartup()
    ((ButtonEvent)EventManager.ControlEvents["btnCreateFolder"]).Clicked += new ClickedEventHandler(btnCreateFolder_Clicked);
    public void btnCreateFolder_Clicked(object sender, ClickedEventArgs e)
    SPSite mySite = new SPSite("Http://thekingsbury/");
    SPWeb myWeb = mySite.OpenWeb();
    //Code to retreive the new library.
    XPathNavigator xLibraryName = MainDataSource.CreateNavigator();
    String NewLibraryName = xLibraryName.SelectSingleNode("/my:myFields/my:LibraryName", NamespaceManager).Value;
    //Code to retreive the library description.
    XPathNavigator xLibraryDesc = MainDataSource.CreateNavigator();
    String NewLibDesc = xLibraryDesc.SelectSingleNode("/my:myFields/my:LibraryDescription", NamespaceManager).Value;
    //Code to retreive the new folder name.
    XPathNavigator xFolderName = MainDataSource.CreateNavigator();
    String NewFolderName = xFolderName.SelectSingleNode("/my:myFields/my:FolderName", NamespaceManager).Value;
    //Creating the new library.
    myWeb.Lists.Add(NewLibraryName, NewLibDesc, SPListTemplateType.DocumentLibrary);
    myWeb.Update();
    //Creating the new folder within the new library.
    SPDocumentLibrary newDocLibrary = (SPDocumentLibrary)myWeb.Lists[NewLibraryName];
    SPFolderCollection newFolders = myWeb.Folders;
    newFolders.Add("http://thekingsbury/" + NewLibraryName + "/" + NewFolderName + "/");
    newDocLibrary.Update();
    I think everyone can use this.
     When you are generating a folder always try to avoid reserved characters  : ; # $ % ^ a and suchlike.

  • Save As dialog hangs when browsing to SharePoint library

    Version: Adobe Reader X (10.1.3)
    OS: Windows 7 Enterprise
    Description of Problem: when I use Save As > PDF and browse to a SharePoint library, I cannot browse into the library itself/access sub folders or document sets, etc. The dialog box simply hangs until you click Cancel or click to another location.
    I can access the SharePoint library easily via Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer (browser).
    I can also browse okay through the Open dialog box in Adobe Reader as it uses the same dialog as Windows Explorer.

    Ok, so I'm getting somewhere. The "Save to Online Account" button at the bottom left of the Save As dialog box in Reader provides the ability to save to Office 365 or SharePoint.
    However you need to copy and paste the URL of the SharePoint location.
    Once you do this you can happily browse through the SharePoint location, save your file and add metadata.
    The UI is pretty limited though. It looks and feels like an FTP program...
    At least I can see my online SharePoint hierarchy!
    In summary, the SharePoint integration is there and allows metadata capture and check-in/check-out, but you can't leverage existing connections in your SharePoint Sites folder C:\Users\<username>\SharePoint Sites. You need to copy and paste the URLs and create Favourites in the "Save to Online Account" UI.

  • Calling a DLL(with vi.lib) from a lvclass within a Packed library

    Basically, I am having problem calling a DLL (which uses the vi.lib) from a packed library.
    The error code I got is error code 1003. “Error 1003 occurred at Call Library Function Node in XXXXX.lvlibp”, “Labview: The VI is not excutable. Most likely the VI is broken or one of its subVIs cannot be located. Select File>>Open to open the VI and then verify that you are able to run it.   Create Summary Log.vi”
    The VI that was mentioned above (Create Summary Log.vi) is one of the functions in the DLL that I am trying to call from the packed library. This VI modifies an Excel spreadsheet so it needs the vi.lib. In my DLL project, vi.lib is in my dependencies. When I compile my DLL, Labview will create four folders (NI_Excel, NI_HTML, NI_report, NI_Standard Report) at the build destination.
    To problem happens when I run a Top level VI, which calls-> the lvlibp -> lvclass (within the packed library) -> DLL (uses the vi.lib Excel functions).
    This problem doesn’t happen when I am not running the packed library (Only with the lvclass). So I think the problem is that DLL can’t access or find the vi.lib when it’s being called by the packed library. It seems like the packed library changes the way the DLL access the vi.lib.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
    Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I think I might have provided wrong information. I thought the problem didn’t exist when I wasn’t running the packed library, but the truth is, the problem always exist regardless.
    I would get an “error 7” when I created a simple VI that would utilize “Call Library Function Node” to call the DLL.
    Error 7 occurred at Get LV Class Default Value.vi
    Possible reason(s):
    LabVIEW:  File not found. The file might have been moved or deleted, or the file path might be incorrectly formatted for the operating system. For example, use \ as path separators on Windows, : on Mac OS X, and / on Linux. Verify that the path is correct using the command prompt or file explorer.
    =========================
    NI-488:  Nonexistent GPIB interface.
    Complete call chain:
         Get LV Class Default Value.vi
         NI_report.lvclass:New Report.vi
         Create Summary Log.vi
         Create Summary Log.vi.ProxyCaller
    LabVIEW attempted to load the class at this path:
    C:\XXX\XXX.dll\Excel\NI_Excel.lvclass
    So the problem is, I don’t know how to include the NI_Excel.lvclass in my DLL. I didn’t have this problem back in 8.2, as I would just include a VI (with the excel VIs in the block diagram) in the project when I build it. This doesn’t work anymore as I am using 2011.
