Accessing computers that are turned on but not logged in

I have a network of about 60 win 7 Pro PCs, which are all on, but not always logged in. I would like to be able to access the shares on these machines at any time, but so far can only do so if the machine is logged in and active.
In XP, all the machine had be was on. How do I do this for Win 7?
Many thanks!

Accessing remote shared folders is not in conflict with the fact that any users is logged (or not logged). For connectivity only one port is opened (445).
You can do a research with network monitor to pinpoint what you need to open.

  • What does it mean if my location services are turned on, but not working?

What does it mean if my location services are turned on, but not working?  It has always worked before.  It is turned on in Settings but when I try to use an app that requires location services, it says they are not on, and the little arrow is not appearing at the top of the screen.

thank you...I tried this immediately after noticing but to no avail. I thought the phone died but I kept seeing the light on so I googled some things and it says it may be watered damaged and I'm not sure how.

I'm not sure if my iPhoto library is being backed up by Time Machine. I am backing up to a LaCie external hard drive. I can open photos ont the hard drive that are in folders but not those that are in iPhoto.

Do a restore from Time Machine. That will tell you.

  • Remove photos that are on 3gs but not showing on retreival to computer

iCloud doesn't back up your music, it only allows you to redownload any music previously purchased from the iTunes for free if you need to.  Your music should be in your iTunes library on your computer, and can be synced back to your phone in the future if you need to.  To save space by removing music, uncheck the songs in iTunes that you no longer want on your phone and sync it.
Your camera roll photos are included in your iCloud backup, but can't be viewed separately.  They can only be accessed by restoring the entire backup to your phone if you ever need to.  Photo stream photos are only kept in your photo stream for 30 days.  After that they are removed from photo stream but not from any device that already has already received them from your photo stream.  If you want to save space by removing photos, import them to your computer and delete them from your camera roll, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

  • Find all packages that are in cache but not installed? [solved]

Is this possible?  Basically, I copied over my /var/cache/pacman/pkg from another machine to a fresh install to save re-downloading 1+ gigs of packages.  Can pacman compare the installed packages to those in cache so I can see what I forget to install on the new machine (I got most of them)!

The answer to your question is probably something along the lines of:
    for pkg in /var/cache/pacman/pkg/*$(uname -m).pkg.tar.gz; do [[ -e /var/lib/pacman/local/$(basename ${pkg%-*}) ]] || echo $(basename $pkg); done
However, I'd suggest another approach. Create a list of explicitly installed packages on both systems and compare them.
To generate a list of explicitly installed packages you can use (on each machine):
    pacman -Qeq >packages
And then you can easily compare the two lists with:
    diff -up packages1 packages2

I keep receiving on my computer this message 'your computer is at risk'. The automatic updates are turned on but not working and I have to do the updates manually every few house. Advice required

There is a compatibility check done via the update URL if the extension isn't compatible.

You need to enter the GUID and the version number to see if there is an update.

Apparently you can have 5 computers registered for iTunes.  I have 3 active computers but I guess I have other computers that are still activated that I no longer use and I no longer have as they crashed.  Is there a way to delete or see what the other computers are so that I can go in and delete them?  I've tried to email Apple directly but apparently I need my hardware # and obviously I do not have that # since I don't have the equipment any longer.  Any help is greatly appreicated.  I am trying to add another computer and it won't allow me to as they say I'm at my limit.  Please help!

    Sure.
Just open up iTunes on your computer -> Go to the iTunes Store -> Click your e- maill address (top right corner of the window) -> Type in your password for your Apple ID -> Under Computer Authorisations (underneath your Apple ID account balance and address) -> Press 'Deauthorise All'
-> This will deauthorise all computers and devices from your iTunes account -> you then need to re- authorise any computers/ devices you would like to use with your Apple ID for iTunes content -> to do this, select the Store tab along the menu at the top (where 'File', 'Edit', 'View' etc..... are) -> Then click 'Authorise this Computer' -> Type in your Apple ID -> Voila!
For any iOS devices (non- computers) you wish to re- authorise, these will automatically do so when you go to play iTunes content, download an app or anything like that on those devices!
    Hope this helps!

I bought a new computer and tried to authorize it.  It states that I already have 5 computers that are authorized.  I no longer have any of those 5 computers.  How do I deauthorize all of them, as it is not shown as an option, as my new computer since it is not authorized.
    Thanks

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

If these do not resolve the issue or if you are not comfortable with proceeding through these steps then take your Mac to an Apple store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.  An Apple store will perform these initial steps, diagnose the problem, and give an estimate for repairs (if needed).  If the Mac is less than one year old or is covered by AppleCare any repairs would be free.

Did you recently deauthorize a bunch of computers?  You can only deauthorize all once  year.

  • Can I use this app to log on to computers that are not in a network

I'd like to be able to log on to a few clients' computers who are not on one network and be able to provide remote tech support.
Will this Remote Desktop app work for that, or does it only work for computers that are all on the same network?

Thanks so much.  I couldn't tell by reading all the literature if it was possible or not and no one at Apple could help.  I had a feeling it wasn't going to work the way I wanted it to.  I will check out LogMeIn and see if that suits better.
Appreciate very much your responding to me so quickly.
    Thank you!

  • HT1918 I need to know what computers are connected specifically to my imatch account it says 5 computers but I think they are using computers that I have sold but I cannot tell where do I find this information?

How do I find the computers that are connected specifically to my imatch account?

Unfortunately, there isn't anywhere you can see a list of authorised computers, you could however de-authorise all your computers and re-authorise just the ones you want to. Note however you can only de-authorise all computers once in each twelve month period.

  • I have two computers that are not working

i have two computers that are not working with 1 year warranty

If offering for sale I will give five dollars for the pair. Barring they are not for sale and each have one year of warranty my suggestion is to contact HP Support by telephone about sending the computers to a repair facility.

  • I purchased songs that are now reported as not authorized on this computer. When I authorize this computer I'm told it is already authorized. How can I access the 21 songs I purchased

I purchased songs that are now labeled as "not authorized on this computer" and won't be sync'd to my iPod. I then go to the store icon, click on authorize this computer and am told that it is already authorized. I have another 169 or so songs I have purchased and have no problem with those. Anyone know what might be happening? I'm not really a "technocrat" so I hope there is an easy answer.
