Accessing content-server content in pluggable navigation

Does anybody know of a way to access content from the content server in a pluggable navigation element? Through the API I have access to the activity space, and I know the item I want to retrieve from the content server.
Thanks in advance!

I would advise to ask in Weblogic and/or Identity Management forum, too.
With 11g, UCM is a J2EE application running on an application server. If yours runs behind the proxy, but your still need an access from the outside world, there are definitely ways how to achieve that (and in fact, it has very little to do with the fact that the application is UCM). I believe that before the right solution can be proposed, you will have to answer few questions (you mentioned SSO - does it apply for external users too?; what is the port number that UCM runs on? what's the overall architecture - clustering, load balancing, etc.?). It should be better if you are asked by someone who has done something similar before.

  • Content Server / Content Repository / Archive Link and co.

    Hi,
i have installed a content server on an external Windows 2003 Server Plattform using MAXDB. The Server is now running and working properly. The test of the content repositories were positive too. Now im a bit confused about all the actions which are required to make a content rep known to SAP System via Archive Link. Is it correct to start the content server service in the SCIF transaction? Do i need to perform the Archive Link Workflow and Costumizing wizard. Which tables have to be altered?
I would  be very greatful if anyone could tell me the steps which need to be done in order to succeed.
    Thanks in advance Christian

    Not required
the actions which are required to make a content rep known to SAP System via Archive Link.
Create a content repository  in OAC0 using document area Archivelink and storage type HTTP Content Server.
To use full functionality of  Archlink, other set of Archivelink configurations required one of them e.g.OAC3 to use this repository to be used by business objects.

  • SAP Content Server 6.40 on same machine as NW 7.0?

    Hello,
is it technically possible to install a Content Server 6.40 on the same machine as a NW 7.0 system?
Where would I normally find this information?
    Thanks,
    Michael

Yes, the idea was to do this on the dev system.
I just found a section about content server in the Netweaver Master Guide:
Standalone engines of SAP NetWeaver are additional installable software units. They do not work
as full-blown systems of SAP NetWeaver, but as standalone engines that provide a specific (server)
functionality in combination with one or more SAP NetWeaver systems.
Standalone engines are not part of a usage type. They do not run on AS ABAP or AS Java.
For SAP NetWeaver, the following standalone engines are available:
    Content Server
Content Server is a separate server instance that is used to store documents or other types of
content related to SAP applications. The accompanying cache server can cache content if your
company operates in several locations. This reduces load on the wide area network when working
    with documents.
It doesn't really say, that it is not possible.
Problem is if we can really recommend this to the customer or if it is too risky...

  • How to restrict read access to certain document in stellent content server

    Hi,
We are using stellent content server to store project documents. We would like to restrict access to certain confidential documents.
Users with Read / Write permission should not be able to access but admins with RWDA permission should be able to access these confidential documents.
    Appreciate your inputs on this.
    Thanks,
    Nayana

Without seeing your setup and environment its a bit hard..
    But...
Make sure that user has read only access to public security group.
You could setup an addition role with readOnly access and apply it those users.
Or restrict there account to have Read only access.
Remember if the user has Admin access on the Account but only readonly access on the security group then they will only have read only access on the files and visa versa.. :)

We do not want to administer it via HTTPS, (as we know CSADMIN doesn't support Https in rel. 46C as for note 712332). We want to do in way that the users when do check-in/out of originals these go across the

  • Sap Content server Direct Browser Access - docGet

We use SAP Content Server for DMS doc storage. Docs are stored without digital signing.
I am looking to access dms original files directly via web browser using the "docGet" command.
    My url looks as shown:
    http://pswdf009:1080/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?docGet&pVersion=0045&contRep=K1&docId=361A524A3ECB5459E0000800099245EC
When I call the url, browser does not seem to be able to read the file type of the server response. An "open/save" dialog appears and when "open" is selected a subsequent dialog appears asking which application to use to open the file. Once the correct application is chosen, the document is displayed correctly.
Is there some way to instruct the browser the content-type is application/pdf?
Will CSAdmin parameter changes have any impact?
The browser is Internet Explorer 6.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Roger

    Hi Roger,
you may of course find an answer here.
But mySAP PLM DMS is not a focus topic here (besides maybe connecting it into the SAP Portal and KM). Thus, you may be better off using a contact or a message to PLM.

  • ECM11g: How to enforce HTTPS access for Content server console

    Hi,
We have a requirement of accessing Content Server console (https://<hostname>:<port>/cs) with https protocol only. If a user sends a http request (http://<hostname>:<port>/cs) it should get converted to https.
The managed server is running with non SSL port. The request is comming from Apache where we have used the parameter "WLProxySSL" to enforce the https, however its not getting enforced for Content Server URL.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Sorry, I forgot to say that
i don't want to use the popup
    window that appears when JWS
    encounter an URL that requires
    basic authentication.
In fact, I don't want to have to enter
    login/password for updates each time
I start my application with JWS.

  • Problems to access files in Content Server

We recently did a migration of our DMS.
Initially our DMS was located in Sao Paulo and we changed our DMS server to Rio de Janeiro.
We kept the same version of the DMS, the same operating system and the same server configuration.
After this migration we are unable to view the original files (PDFs, DWGs,
etc..) that have been filed in Content Server.
We are receving the following error when we are trying to access file:
c:  temp  Regal FISPQ.pdf can not be created.
In transaction SLG1 we're getting the 404 Not Found error.
We debugged the program 'SCMS_HTTP_GET_FILE' and received the error file not found.
    Can you help me?
    Regards,
    Sérgio Salomã

    Hi Sérgio
I am also facing similar issue. Is your issue resolved? Can you please guide me how did you resolve this issue.
In my case Content Server and Content Repository both are up and running but still I am not able to access the documents.

  • DMS KM Repository: direct access to Content Server?

    Hello,
our SAP System is running in another network (outsourcing, connected via WAN) then the Content Server (LAN). Portal and TREX are located in the same network as the Content Server.
During indexing for the CM repository the content are requested via rfc - so the KPRO read the document from our network to the R/3 system and sends it back to the portal:
    our network     -
    >      WAN      -
    >      Outsourcing Partner        -
    >      WAN -
    >            our network
    Content Srv     -
    >      R/3                                -
    >        Portal/TREX
As you might suggest - very poor performance...
Normally the DMS is build to support direct content retrieval via URL. So my question is: is it possible to activate this feature for the KM Connector?
    Thank you,
    Frank

    Hello Karsten,
    > as far as I know, the content server itself only
    > holds files themselves in a flat list and identified
    > by an object ID. All attributes, access rights, etc.
    > are controlled by the R/3 instance.
Yes, but the KPRO (where most of these settings are stored) supports a URL based content retrieval. This is also the default behavior of the DMS/DVS. For Example TREX, gets the list of attributes and a URL for the content pointing to the Content Server. This also works for WebDocuments (Web Access to DMS from R/3, based on BSP). But it seems the KM Repository sends a full content request via RFC...
    Thank you,
    Frank

  • Cannot access sapdb backend from Content Server?

I am unable to access my sapdb from my Content Server via CSADMIN or with the /ContentServer.dll?serverInfo page.
I run a Content Server on Unix - version 640, build 16. Here's what I've verified thus far:
    - SAPDB is up and running.
    - x_server process is running
    - apache is running (httpd processes)
    - Standalone gateway on same server is running.
In the apache error logs I find the following message:
ErrorDescription: Cannot start Document request, reason: SQLConnect
failed, [MySQL MaxDB][LIBSQLOD SO][MaxDB] Invalid authorization specification;-4008 POS
    (1) Unknown user name/password combination, Error
    Code: -4008\r\nX-ServerId: server="nwkwcs";serverPort="1090"\r\nX-
    ServerType: SAP HTTP Content Server\r\n
I had not changed my SAPR3 user or password in the database, so I am confused why this started happening all of a sudden?
In an attempt to fix, I reset SAPR3 to custom password and ran report
RSCMSPWS to store the new password in the cs.conf file. However, the
same error is still a result.
So, I deleted and recreated SAPR3 based upon SUPERDBA profile with default "SAP" password.
Then, I commented out DBNAME and PASSWORD in cs.conf file.  So, it should be using the default SAPR3/SAP login to the database.
However, this did not help either.
I looked at note 706664, however I cannot even get the repositories to a defined status. I cannot connect via CSADMIN?
Here's an excerpt from the http://server:port/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?serverInfo page for
    further analysis:

  • Accessing Content Server documents directly

    Hi All,
Due to our business being wound up we are mothballing our SAP systems. Currently we have Invoices stored in our Content Server, what we want to know is can we set up access direct to these Invoice Images without having to use SAP (if it was turned off) to access the images directly, can we access the content if we use/extract the object link held in table TOA01?
    Thanks

I would advise to ask in Weblogic and/or Identity Management forum, too.

  • Content Server 6.0 Editor access

I have some cs portlets, some allow you to add/create articles, others are simply "content" spaces using just the rich text field. How can we give access to community managers to change that content without giving them access to the content server explorer?
    M

Yeah - I sympathize. Took me a while to get hip to this.
To your point, there are publisher folder objects (and security...) and portal admin folder objects (and security...)
You have a portlet template (in the global portal objects admin folder structure). The user needs to have rights to the template in order to create portlets (also needs rights to underlying web service and server)The portlet template is (by default) bound to a publisher object in a publisher folder (/plumtree/portlet templates/_announcement/en in this case)The portlet templates can have their security bound to the base publisher portlet folders (if you look on security on a publisher portlet instance you'll see this)... this will make more sense later.A user community can create published content in a destination folder in publisher (EX: /plumtree/myAwesomeClient)When the user creates a portlet instance from a portlet template (from the portal admin objects) you tell it your destination folder in publisher (/plumtree/myAwesomeClient) - the act of naming the portlet instance will create (or should create...) a folder with a "like name" - EX: I call my portlet "Eric's test portlet." I should now see... /plumtree/myAwesomeClient/Eric's test portletCool bit... because you've bound the Portlet template's security to the Publisher object's security the user SHOULD be left with admin rights to the content within that new publisher folderConfused yet? :) Took me a while to really grasp this...
What you should get out of this is...
An instance of a portlet (in your global portal admin hierarchy)A publisher folder (in the publisher folder structure)In theory - the two sets of security should be tied togetherThe act of editing the admin prefs on the portlet should automatically update the published content.
I only really figured this out once I wrote my own publisher-based portlet templates. Just step through the idea...
portlet templates are just "links" back to publisher templateswhen you create a portlet from a template security should be tied to the publisher destination folderongoing to let people admin content they need to have rights to...the publisher folder (publisher folder structure)the portlet instance (portal admin folder structure)the users don't need access to the publisher explorer portlet - editing admin prefs on the portlet should be enoughI'm still not sure I explained that very well...
    Thanks,
    Eric
