Accessing Content Server documents directly

Hi All,
Due to our business being wound up we are mothballing our SAP systems. Currently we have Invoices stored in our Content Server, what we want to know is can we set up access direct to these Invoice Images without having to use SAP (if it was turned off) to access the images directly, can we access the content if we use/extract the object link held in table TOA01?
Thanks
Simon.

I would advise to ask in Weblogic and/or Identity Management forum, too.
With 11g, UCM is a J2EE application running on an application server. If yours runs behind the proxy, but your still need an access from the outside world, there are definitely ways how to achieve that (and in fact, it has very little to do with the fact that the application is UCM). I believe that before the right solution can be proposed, you will have to answer few questions (you mentioned SSO - does it apply for external users too?; what is the port number that UCM runs on? what's the overall architecture - clustering, load balancing, etc.?). It should be better if you are asked by someone who has done something similar before.

  • Access Content Server Pos-installation Configuration

    Hello,
I am new with Oracle ECM, I am starting to use it for Webcenter requirements.
I have installed succesfully Oracle Content Server. I accessed http://localhost:16200/cs, and it showed me the post-installation configurations.
I made some changes and restarted the server. I then realized I had made some mistakes. How can I access the configuration screen again, and make some changes? Thank you.
    Joao

    Hi
That config screen does not show up a second time .
If you want to make modifications to the configurations then make them in<domain_home>/ucm/cs/config/config.cfg
After the changes are done UCM restart should be done .
    Thanks

  • Accessing Content Server custom metadata in search results

    Hello,
Is there way to access custom metadata from the Webcenter Spaces search results page? I'm trying to customize the searchResultsFragment.jsff page to have certain results' url be created differently depending on their custom metadata.
I've noticed that each result is stored in a variable called "row" and attributes of that variable are accessed with row.title, row.authors, row.comments, etc. Is there a list somewhere of attributes that can be called from row?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

I think this depends on how you're calling the webservice. if you're using the 11g-method of using the Generic service, it should work ootb. If you're using the 10g-method, then you need to update the soap service's response params to include your custom metadata. OOTB it has a complex type that only includes some standard metadata, but no custom.

  • ECM11g: How to enforce HTTPS access for Content server console

    Hi,
We have a requirement of accessing Content Server console (https://<hostname>:<port>/cs) with https protocol only. If a user sends a http request (http://<hostname>:<port>/cs) it should get converted to https.
The managed server is running with non SSL port. The request is comming from Apache where we have used the parameter "WLProxySSL" to enforce the https, however its not getting enforced for Content Server URL.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Sorry, I forgot to say that
i don't want to use the popup

  • Content server - Cache server

    Hi,
We have installed content server and it is working fine. We would like to install cache server to access content server from different location to reduce the access time. Is there any document/guide to link cache server to the existing content server.
For ex.When the user in Delhi stores the original, it has to route through cache server (Located at Delhi) to the content server (Located at Chennai) and get stored in Content server.
My mail ID is [email protected]
    Prasanna

    Hi Prasanna,
the installation of a cache server is pretty similar to a content sever. Therefore it's covered in the installation guide of the content server. You find the installation guide on
    http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Netweaver -> SAP Netweaver 7.0 (NW2004S) -> Installation
In the Window scroll down to the end. You find the Installtion Guides under
    3 - Installation - Standalone Engines - > Installation - Content Server 6.40 on UNIX
    3 - Installation - Standalone Engines - > Installation - Content Server 6.40 on Windows
On http://service.sap.com/ContentServer you find additional information including an FAQ answering your questions on the cache server.

    Hello Experts,
I have installed Content Server 6.4 successfully on WIN2K8 with IIS7 and MAXDB 7.6.6.20
When i tried to access the content server url, i was prompted with a POP UP asking for download of ContentServer.dll.
I have strictly followed the installation guide -CONTENTSERVER on WIN 2008 and installed all the necessary roles mentioned in the installation guide.I have also checked the option - install website during my installtion.but still facing the issue while accessing content server URL.
While going through SDN forums, in some of the threads, it was mentioned that manual installation of content server website has resolved the issue.
Could any one please let me know the procedure to be followed for manual installation of content server website to the port manually.
    Or
Kindly suggest the solution for this, if you have come across the similar issue.

    1) Firstly check whether you have installed all the components pertaining to IIS 7.0 in your system
    2) Check whether you have allowed contents like *.dll in the IIS
    Hope this helps.

  • Role of MaxDb in SAP content server

    Hello experts,
We have already gone through the content server documents.
We are not yet clear with role of MaxDb database in SAP content sever.
Is it prerequisite to install MaxDb for SAP content server?(eventhough documents has to be store in file system)
We Want to perform document archiving, for this reason we want to store documents in File system.
So in this scenario where will be the meta data stored?

    Hi Akshay,
You can check the installation guide, you can install Content server without maxdb on a separate server and it will use the storage (File system) of that server to store the documents.
As far as I know, the meta data is stored on the file system(if Maxdb not used) or on Maxdb and the header is stored on the SAP side.
For installation without maxdb, you can check the below link

  • Sap Content server Direct Browser Access - docGet

We use SAP Content Server for DMS doc storage. Docs are stored without digital signing.
I am looking to access dms original files directly via web browser using the "docGet" command.
    My url looks as shown:
    http://pswdf009:1080/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?docGet&pVersion=0045&contRep=K1&docId=361A524A3ECB5459E0000800099245EC
When I call the url, browser does not seem to be able to read the file type of the server response. An "open/save" dialog appears and when "open" is selected a subsequent dialog appears asking which application to use to open the file. Once the correct application is chosen, the document is displayed correctly.
Is there some way to instruct the browser the content-type is application/pdf?
Will CSAdmin parameter changes have any impact?
The browser is Internet Explorer 6.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Roger

    Hi Roger,
you may of course find an answer here.
But mySAP PLM DMS is not a focus topic here (besides maybe connecting it into the SAP Portal and KM). Thus, you may be better off using a contact or a message to PLM.

  • DMS KM Repository: direct access to Content Server?

    Hello,
our SAP System is running in another network (outsourcing, connected via WAN) then the Content Server (LAN). Portal and TREX are located in the same network as the Content Server.
During indexing for the CM repository the content are requested via rfc - so the KPRO read the document from our network to the R/3 system and sends it back to the portal:
    our network     -
    >      WAN      -
    >      Outsourcing Partner        -
    >      WAN -
    >            our network
    Content Srv     -
    >      R/3                                -
    >        Portal/TREX
As you might suggest - very poor performance...
Normally the DMS is build to support direct content retrieval via URL. So my question is: is it possible to activate this feature for the KM Connector?
    Thank you,
    Frank

    Hello Karsten,
    > as far as I know, the content server itself only
    > holds files themselves in a flat list and identified
    > by an object ID. All attributes, access rights, etc.
    > are controlled by the R/3 instance.
Yes, but the KPRO (where most of these settings are stored) supports a URL based content retrieval. This is also the default behavior of the DMS/DVS. For Example TREX, gets the list of attributes and a URL for the content pointing to the Content Server. This also works for WebDocuments (Web Access to DMS from R/3, based on BSP). But it seems the KM Repository sends a full content request via RFC...
    Thank you,
    Frank

  • How to restrict read access to certain document in stellent content server

    Hi,
We are using stellent content server to store project documents. We would like to restrict access to certain confidential documents.
Users with Read / Write permission should not be able to access but admins with RWDA permission should be able to access these confidential documents.
    Appreciate your inputs on this.
    Thanks,
    Nayana

Without seeing your setup and environment its a bit hard..
    But...
Make sure that user has read only access to public security group.
You could setup an addition role with readOnly access and apply it those users.
Or restrict there account to have Read only access.
Remember if the user has Admin access on the Account but only readonly access on the security group then they will only have read only access on the files and visa versa.. :)

  • Storing document on Content Server - SAP DB or Filesystem?

    Hello everybody.
I have questions regarding the Content Server and need your expierence and recommendation. Where do you store documents on the Content Server? Are you using the standard SAP-DB, which can be installed together with the Content Server, or are you using the File-System? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
What do I have to do to store the documents in the File System? Is there an documentation?
    Thanks and Regards.
    Tobias Karl

    Hello Tobias,
Storage on the filesystem has the advantage to use existing clustering raiding and hierachial storeage systems for storage and you dont have to implement those features in the database. The advantage would be documents can be found indepentendlly from the ERP-Sysem.
    DB Advantages
All data (documents, folders, and metadata) is stored in the database.
Database is much better suited than file system to the administration of large amounts of data
Databese is limited to size 64 TB, then additional database needs to be installed
If there is a large number of write requests in your CM usage scenario, set up the CM repository in database mode. Since all documents are stored in the database, this avoids unintentional external manipulation of the data.
Another advantage of storing all data in the database is that the procedure for data backup and restore is easy since only the database needs to be backed up
    File System Advantages
This is faster than the database option if you have large documents since there is no database data streaming. This also enables the size of the database to be controlled more easily since documents are stored in the file system.
File systems are not transactional, so this has restrictions and affects performance. If read and write operations take place for one document in the file system at the same time, these operations have to be coordinated by the repository manager. This happens by recording both write accesses and read accesses in the database. This affects performance.
Metadata (for example, locks or custom properties) can be lost if you edit or manipulate documents or folders directly in the file system. Only administrators should work in the file system, and they should only carry out mass operations such as copy and delete
For a scenario with write accesses, cannot ensure consistent data backup and restore. This is because changes to the folder structure in the file system could be made in the time between the two actions. This would lead to inconsistent data following the restore process. Consistent data backup and restore can therefore be ensured only if read accesses alone are taking place
There are CM repository managers can be set up in various modes i.e Persistence Mode to save the documents  as follows:
    1) DB Mode All data is stored in the database
    2) DBFS Mode Metadata and folders are stored in the database, but documents are stored in the file system
    3) FSDB Mode Folders and documents are stored in the file system, but metadata is stored in the database.
If you wish to change the settings you can do it but with some restrictions which follows as:change of the persistence mode is possible only from the DB mode to the DBFS mode. Changing from DB to FSDB, from FSDB to DB/DBFS, or from DBFS to DB/FSDB is not possible.
To change the mode if you wish with above restrictions
    1.      Make sure that enough free disk space is available to migrate the content from the database to the file system.
    2.      Change the configuration of the CM repository manager. In the Root Directory parameter, specify the path to the file system that the documents from the database are to be stored under. Change the entry in the Persistence Mode parameter from DB to DBFS.
    3.      Restart the application server.
    4.      Run the CM Store: Content Crawler report
Please check the follwoing notes on backup and restore:
Note 1000150 - Backup of KMC configuration
Note  1000351 - Restore of KMC Configuration Backup Archive.

  • Setting content server for storing PPM documents

    Hi Folks,
We have followed the steps outlined the PPM config doc for setting up the content server (pages 117). Summary of the steps are shown below. (We are on PPM5.0)
    Creating a Content Server Entry
    1. In Customizing for SAP NetWeaver under Application Server Basis Services
Knowledge Provider Content Management Service Define Content
    Repositories , choose Content Repository Display/Change .
    2. Choose Content Repository Create .
    3. Enter a name and a description for the content server.
    4. Enter CFF in the Document Area field and HTTP in the Storage Type field.
Creating a Storage Category for a Repository
    1. In Customizing for SAP NetWeaver under Application Server Basis Services
Knowledge Provider Content Management Service Define Content Categories
    , choose New entries.
    2. Enter a name and description, and then enter CFF in the Document Area field.
    3. Enter the name of the newly-created content repository in the Content Repository
    field.
Setting the new Content Server as the Default Storage Category
    1. Choose transaction DMWB.
    2. Choose model area CFF in the tree.
    3. Navigate to PHIO-classes, node CFF_VERSION_V.
    4. Change the standard attribute STORAGE_CATEGORY from CFFCONTENT to the
    category you have defined above.
    5. Repeat this for node CFF_ADD_FILES_V and for CFF_VERS in node
    CFF_VERSION_V.
After doing the above steps I did the following tests.
    1. Tried to access documents stored at the portfolio item level before doing the above content server config. I was able to access the documents which leads me to believe that files are still getting stored in the DB.
    2. Checked the table CFF_CONT before and after storing a 1kb file and the number of entries increased by 2, which again leads me to believe the file is not stored in the content server.
Appreciate any input on whether we have followed the correct steps and if there is a better way check if files are actually being stored in the content server.
    Thanks,
    Lashan

    Hi Lashan,
I didn't same steps as you explain in your first post but it isn't working.
Why didn't it work for you when you posted your 1st post, and now is is working? Is there some installation or Add-on that we need you have? Is there any Basis system parameters that we need to put?
    thanks in advance,
