Accessing emails through Thunderbird

I have been trying to set up my emails so that I can read them using Thunderbird. Thunderbird has an automatic programme which does away with the need to provide incoming and outgoing server details. This has worked fine with my aol addresses but won't work for BT. Keep getting told that BT does not recognise my password although the password  works perfectly if I access my emails via BT online.
Can anyone help?

Perhaps it depends on the Thunderbird version ?  It's got things wrong for me before, but I think that was using the (horribly buggy) latest version.
I have a 3.0.x version on both my main desktop, both Windows & Linux, and my netbook - again with both Windows & Linux versions, and the auto configuration works fine for my btinternet.com accounts - although it didn't setup mail.btinternet.com, it did at least settle for settings that work.
Checking, it used pop3.btinternet.com - port 110 for incoming, which works, and smtp.mail.yahoo.com - port 465, SSL/TLS for outgoing, which also works and is arguably a better choice than mail.btinternet.com
Use the Manual setup option and change all the settings as the link from the mod indicates. But make sure that you set the connection security to None.
If it (Thunderbird) sets any kind of security on a server which doesn't support it, then it's even more buggy than I previously thought...
It will also have added an smtp item in the Outgoing servers - this also needs amending for correct port (25) and conection security to None.
See above - that really depends on what server was set.

    From your description, you can send and receive messages only when you use OWA after migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
    In your case, I recommend you create a new test mailbox in your Exchange 2013 and check if you can send and receive messages on Outlook. If yes, it is recommended to create a new profile to solve this issue.

  • I can't access email through BT

    I'm trying to access my email through https://signin1.bt.com/login/emailloginform but when I click "log-in to my email" nothing happens. No hourglass, no timer, no warnings, nothing. It's almost the button doesn't have a link in it. 
    Help please.

    Another alternative is to use an email client such as Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail.
    Go to http:/www.mail.yahoo.com
    login there with your credentials
    Click continue on the service change screen.
    Re enter password for verification.
    Normal BT home page appears, click email tab.
    Then login as normal on the bt mail login screen.
    Email page should load.
    Where the Hi (yourname) appears click the dropdown and go to account info.
    If asked, verify the password and if you want to change your password in here.
    If  not logout.
    Your login should now work from the bt home page.

  • I can't access or send email through Thunderbird any longer (over a month) though I have checked settings and can access/send email via webmail and other device

    My cable provider changed (buy out or something) about a year ago but left my email address alone.
    Confirmed with the current carrier that my incoming/outgoing settings are correct and my email address doesn't need to be migrated.
    When I click "Get Mail," nothing happens: no error message. It has been like this for a month.
    I can check webmail, but it doesn't have my older emails or folders. I would love to get back on and spit everything out of Thunderbird. I did an internet search (including this forum) but haven't found anything useful.

    LOOK!! To test, I sent a short email to myself to see if Thunderbird would receive it. It didn't, but the Dodo webmail picked it up. I'm sorry, but I can't be more explicit t4han that.

    You need to go to the website of your email provider, only there can you change your password, or let them send you a new one to a different address. Thunderbird can't help you with that.

    I have Thunderbird version 24.3.0 downloaded to my Windows 7 computer.
    When I send an email in Thunderbird it looks fine and when the recipient receives it, it looks fine on the screen, but when she tries to print it, the font is unreadably small. This happens on every email I send her, but not other people's emails she receives. It has happened on some of the emails I receive back from her that contain the information I sent her.
    Is there a setting I need to fix or something I can do on my end to address this so this doesn't happen. She is receiving email through AOL online. I believe she is viewing it through either IE or Chrome.

    I recently tried sending myself an email through Thunderbird to another email account to see if that was the case, but the email came in with a font so tiny that it was unreadable. I had chosen a font type and size (arial 10) and just coming into my outlook inbox was virtually unreadable.
    And referring to the person I work with, she doesn't have problems getting anyone else's emails, just ones I send from Thunderbird.

    I work for a company that provides I.T. Support to a wide range of companies, all with Exchange 2003, generally SP2.
    It seems I can access the webpage based log in OWA's that are used with Small Business Server Exchange Server log ins, but not standard Exchange OWA that pops up with a browser authentication request box.
    On my Touch I can enter my username and password where it then hangs on "loading" - shame I wanted to bin my Blackberry which is why I bought this to use with Toronto Hydro Wifi.

  • Username and Password are correct and Thunderbird says they are incorrect. I can access mail through web client.

    I have made sure email credentials are correct on the Mail Server. I can access mail through a web client using the email credentials I am inputting however Thunderbird will not let me configure the account saying the username and password might be incorrect.

    I saw I had almost 30,000 txt messages on a Gmail account that I had created a gmail account for on Thunderbird. I didn't realize that they were going here from Gmail. I highlighted all of them and attempted to delete them. The spinning circle finally went away and all of them were gone. But when I tried to do anything else on Thunderbird with my regular email accounts (Comcast & Hotmail), I would get a spinning circle and Thunderbird is not responding. I had to use Ctrl Alt Del and then reopen. I tried compacting but this morning when I tried to write an email from one of my Comcast emails in Thunderbird, again I got the spinning circle and Thunderbird is not responding. In order to do anything, I have to close the program by hitting Crrl Alt Del and try again.
    My Trash Local folders says 8300.
    This morning, when I tried accessing Thunderbird at the bottom of the taskbar it said, "downloading....of 17,000 to All Mail. Had no clue what that meant. I let it continue until all were and thought my issue would be resolved. But no. :(
    Something obviously got corrupted in the program. What do I need to do to fix this?

  • Can I access my other email through iCloud

    Is there any way to access my other email accounts through iCloud?
    Example: My work email is through cox mail. (it is [email protected] I never really used my mobileme email (that is now in iCloud).
    For iCloud to be useful for me, I would want to access my work email through it when I am on the road. Is it possible to add other email accounts?
    Of course, I can access my cox mail through their own website - but it sure would be useful to access my calendar, mail, etc all in one place (the cloud). Isnt that the point?
    I have heard of people setting up - for example - a gmail account but have it actually LOOK like their work email to the receiver. If I cannot just add my other accounts to iCloud, is this a possibility?

    thats too bad. Oh well. So far I dont see a big use for iCloud. I much prefer the older MobileMe.
    I could park my iWeb websites of my children - with iCloud that disappeared. Kinda defeats the user-friendliness of iWeb. One click publishing through mobileme account was a great idea.
    One day there will be one spot where I can park all my stuff. I guess iCloud is not that place. Hopefully this is just the first step and it will get fine tuned and expanded in the future.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    Your question is not clear. If it is a Yahoo email account, then where does iCloud come into the picture? Or do you mean you are using the yahoo.com email address as your Apple ID? These are entirely different things. The Yahoo email account is not in any way related to the Apple ID that is using that email address as the Apple ID.
