Accessing External .as files

My AIR app runs fine in test movie but when run as an air
install the external class files do not seem to be used. Do I need
to include them in included files and if so how do I reference
them.

Hello conn.xx. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Ive read all over the place about Time Capsule being the perfect back-up solution, but can I use it NOT for back-up, but just as a simple external harddrive? Accessing/Streaming files from TC to my laptop (PC)?
Yes.

  • Unable to access external video file after publishing in html5

    I am trying to publish a project that contains links to external files (.mp4 videos). After publishing, I get an path error message when I try to run the videos after publishing. The references to the videos are by name without any paths specified.
    When I published the file the videos reside in the same folder as the captivate project file.
    The instructions say copy the files to the output folder after I publish as html5.
    What I did was extract the zip folder
    Place the videos in the parent folder after extraction.
    Ran the project. It runs except for the video execution.
    There are a number of folders when the zip file is extracted.
    Am I placing the videos in the right folder?

    I personally prefer to get my files up on the server and link directly to them in Captivate.
    Are you putting your's in the root folder of your project? eg. /projectname/... instead of/projectname/callees/ ?

  • External XML files in Flash iPhone apps

    Hi everyone. I know that apple has loosened up on what is and isn't allowed on the app store these days, such as flash. I was thinking of writing an app that would call upon a web based xml file to call up pictures to display in the iPhone.
    I know Apple doesn't allow apps that call upon external scripts but it's not an executable script, its a list of images and where they are stored. Does anybody have any input on whether Apple may have a problem with this?
    Cheers

    don't know.
    I'm not sure of the differences between actionscript in flash and javascript in the browser but you could call for an XML file to be sent as json data from the script if accessing external XML files directly is not allowed.
    Problem is that XML can contain anything you want it too... it could contain a script itself.

  • How to access Shared Component Images from External Javacript File

    Hi,
    I have an external javascript file that is referenced within a page that consists of a number of calls to images within the Shared Components, i.e.:
    "#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#up_arrow.png"
    Unfortunately this no longer seems to work when used in an external js file.
    What options do I have to allow the external js to access images within the Shared Components/database?
    Thanks.
    Tony.

    Hi,
    You do not have much options, that is know limitation.

    Hi, I loaded a external swf file that it is a dialog.
    var swfLoader : Loader = new Loader();

    swfLoader.load(swfURL);

    okay,
    I have the image component in ProductCatalogThumbnail.mxml, which has an id of "img"
    so, i created a public variable in the file and a public function that returns the value of the object.
    public var imagecopy:Object;
            [Bindable]
             public function imagecopyfunction():Object{
             imagecopy  = img;
             return imagecopy;
    now, I want to access this image in the mxml file ProductList.mxml in a function
      public function init():void
          ProductCatalogThumbnail.imagecopy.addEventListener( MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, beginDrag );
         // accepting a drag/drop operation...
           this.area.addEventListener( DragEvent.DRAG_ENTER, acceptDrop );
           // handling the drop...
          //this.area.addEventListener( DragEvent.DRAG_DROP, handleDrop );
    I tried to use the variable, and then i tried to use the function:
    I got this error when I tried the variable : 1119: Access of possibly undefined property imagecopy through a reference with static type Class.
    ProductCatalogThumbnail.imagecopy.addEventListener( MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, beginDrag );
    and this error when i tried the function:  1061: Call to a possibly undefined method imagecopyfunction through a reference with static type Class.
    ProductCatalogThumbnail.imagecopyfunction().addEventListener( MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, beginDrag );
    i made sure i imported ProductCatalogThumbnail file in the beginning of my application.
    I am not sure what went wrong.

  • External back up drive locked - I have no access to my files

    Hi, I have a brand new iMac Intel based, running 10.6.2.
    I installed the 10.6.4 update last night and when I came in this morning, my external drive is locked and I can't access my backup files, nor can I run Time Machine.
    I reinstalled the system back to 10.6.2...still locked.
    HELP!!!

    When doing an OS X update in order for it to be smooth there are some basics to follow.
    1. First back up prior to doing the update which it sounds like you're doing.
    2. Next is disconnect all peripherals except the keyboard and mouse.
    3. Run Repair Disk Permissions in Disk Utility
    4. When possible download the Combo update. Here is the one for 10.6.4
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1048
    5. Install the update
    6. Repeat step 3
    7. Check system to see if it's working OK.
    8. Connect peripherals and run.
    Troubleshooting:
    If you run into issues run a PRAM and SMC reset. Please read the instructions for the SMC reset carefully as it covers multiple models of Macs, you need the one for Intel based iMacs.
    10.6.4 is very stable but if your system isn't stable to begin with doing an update will not fix it and probably make it even worse. While you probably weren't aware your system wasn't totally stable if you do the above steps it will probably solve your problems.

  • Accessing Time Machine files on external drive

    I'm going to be selling my iMac G5 soon and won't be replacing it for some months. I regularly back up the entire HD to an external drive using Time Machine.
    I would like to be able to access my iMac files on the external drive, as and when required, using my MacBook.
    Could you let me know whether this is possible as there seems to be a permissions issue when I attempt to do this?

    Thank you, I've tried your suggestion and so far so good.
    I'm having some issues opening my Lightroom Catalogue because of permissions issues, and also with they iPhoto library on the external drive, so I'll need to work out a way of resolving these problems.
    I would like to be able to access these libraries 'as is' on the MacBook and use them just as I would on the iMac but the Time Machine backups are throwing up permissions errors. My user name is the same on both the MacBook and the iMac, so I don't think that is the issue.
    Otherwise, I will have to think of another system and not bother with having a Time Machine backup. I think I'll need to copy/clone the iMac HD or at least the Documents folder but that would probably create some security issues as anyone will be able to access the files—which I don't want either.

  • Question re Accessing catalogues and files from an external hard drive in Elements 6.

    Having just acquired an ehd, I have successfully carried out a trial back up of an Elements 6 2000 picture catalogue from an XP based PC, using the Elements 6 full back-up process. This process is intended to be used eventually to transfer this and other catalogues onto a new Windows 8 PC installed with Elements 11.
    However, in the interim I would also like to be able to access the picture files and the catalogue data on the ehd from a Vista based laptop which also has Elements 6 installed. Can you please advise how to do this without carrying out a full restore process that would load all of the files onto my laptop's hard drive.
    In transferring the picture files to the ehd I also seem to have lost the original file structure that was on my PC, as folders have been renamed numerically and are all held individually in the main folder of the ehd. Whilst this doesn't matter too much whilst the files remain on the ehd, provided the catalogue still knows where to find them, has the original file structure been permanently lost, or can I recreate it when I eventually restore the files and catalogue on the new Windows 8 PC?
    I'm anxious to get this process right as I have a much larger catalogue to similarly back-up and transfer, once I have acquired the new PC, and was hoping to be able to similarly access this catalogue by my laptop from the ehd as there is insufficent hard disk space on my laptop to hold all the 20,000 files involved.
    Please help
    Gardener 179

    Thanks for your help re my original questions.
    Reassured regarding not having lost the file structure of my pictures, and bearing in mind the relatively small catalogue I had backed up, I thought that rather than restoring by leaving the picture files on the EHD, I would after all restore to the laptop hard drive, as a trial run before dealing with my main catalogue.
    The restore was successful but raised a number of further issues that I would appreciate your advice on:-
    1) The original catalogue name was not used in the restoration process. The restored catalogue on the laptop has simply been named "Pictures". Is this normal and if I now rename the restored catalogue will this create problems with any subsequent supplementary backups of the catalogue?
    2) In restoring the catalogue I heeded the Adobe Help and specified the Vista folder C:\Users\Maurice\Pictures as the location for the picture files rather than simply restoring the original XP folder structure. However, since I also wanted to retain the lower level folder structure of my XP files (which are basically date files) I then specified to "Retain the Original Folder Structure". This has resulted in the full XP folder structure being created within \Pictures on the laptop.
    Is it possible to avoid this situation occurring, or will I have to remove the unwanted XP sub-folder structure from the laptop and reconnect the thumbnails in the Photoshop catalogue to the new file locations? Also if I have to move files in this way will I once again have problems with any subsequent restorations of the same catalogue?
    I have also a couple of supplementary questions re the initial backup to the EHD which I have now looked at more closely:-
    1) The original XP catalogue has 1853 picture files, (and this is identical to that subsequently restored on the laptop), yet in backing up the catalogue to the EHD it seems that in excess of 2200 picture files have been created. Why is this?
    2) As previously advised the pictures are held on the EHD numbered sequentially as "b000001" etc, and due to my selecting the EHD top level root folder as the destination for the back up are held in F:\. Should I have created a new folder, say "Backup 1" on the EHD, and then specified this as the destination folder, as I am concerned that on backing up further catalogues the existing picture files will get overwritten and the Photoshop Backup and Catalogue files confused with previous backups? If so can I move the existing back up files to a new folder now without causing any problems?
    Finally could you confirm what would have happened to the folder structure on the EHD had I carried out the Restore process by locating the picture files on the EHD but retaining their original file structure. Would the picture files have been copied into their original file structure for use by the restored catalogue and the duplicate backup files left unaltered, or would the backup picture files have been replaced by the restored file structure? Also would the "catalogue file" be transferred to the Laptop C:\ drive in this process or would this also stay on the EHD and be accessed from there by Photoshop?
    Sorry for all the questions but I really want to fully understand what is going on before risking doing anything to move my main catalogue.

  • Accessing an external jar file

    Hi there,
    Does anyone knows how to acces an external jar file?
    I need to use a jar on another webserver because the jar is using a library.
    Thx...

    I think you can add a classpath
    in the environment variables on windows
    and append the directory of where your jar files
    are located.
    or
    copy the jar files to the C:\j2sdk1.4.0_03\jre\lib\ext
    where j2sdk1.4.0_03 is your javahome directory

  • How can I get permission to access my own files?

    I recently got a new Mac Pro, and I used a Time Machine backup to migrate my data.  Then I discovered that Time Machine doesn't actually back up everything; it leaves out all the "Build" folders in all of my Xcode projects for some reason.  I transferred all those folders manually, but I couldn't help but wonder what else Time Machine was omitting.  So I decided that before I permanently retire my old computer (a seven year old iMac), I'd make a full backup of all its data onto BD-Roms.  This it turning out to be quite difficult.
    First I tried using Target Disk Mode and running Disk Utility on a second computer to create a disk image.  But after about 15 hours, it wasn't even a third of the way done, so I cancelled that.  Then I tried connecting an external drive to my old computer and just dragging all the files onto it, which seemed to be working at first, but then after a couple hours, it said something like, "You don't have permission to access the Keychain App," and it stopped transferring.  So I tried again, but I omitted the Applications folder, since that's where the Keychain app is.  Then, after a couple more hours, it said something like, "You don't have permission to access some other file."
    Is there any way I can disable this permissions business?  I tried going to "get info" and giving everyone read and write privileges, but it didn't make any difference.  I wouldn't even mind just skipping the files with permission issues, but the problem is that whenever it gets to an "unpermitted" file, it just completely bails out of the whole transfer and then I have to start all over again.  Is there at least a way to make it just skip those files and go on with the transfer?

    Not in your case. System-level folders cannot be backed up by drag-copying; just drag your home folder to the external drive.

  • Can't access Time Machine files since upgrading to Mavericks

    I have searched the community and found that people have experienced issues backing up to Time Machine since upgrading to Mavericks, but my problem appears slightly different from the ones I've found.  I can see that my Time Machine is actually backing up since the upgrade as it was before the upgrade.  The issue I'm having is that I can't access the backed-up files in any way.
    When I try to open time machine it launches the "space view" with all of the historical tabs lined up for me to scroll through, but imediately closes that window and gives the error message: "Can't connect to a current Time Machine backup disc".  It's so weird, because it says that there have been backups completed since the upgrade (most recently this morning).  If it wasn't writing to the disc, it would have showed me an error of some sort.
    What I am, specifically, trying to accomplish is that I need to restore some iTunes playlists that I somehow managed to delete this past weekend.  I figured that I would easily be able to access the library file that contains the playlists from Saturday morning, when I KNOW that playlist was still there, and just restore it.  Now that I am seeing that I can't access any of my time machine files, I'm realizing that I have an even bigger problem, and that all of my files are, essentially, going without backup at this time (assuming I can't access the files that have already been backing up).
    If anyone has some insight as to how I can fix this problem, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Hi John, (The above was for your attention) I'm 72 and must've hit the wrong button!!!
    I followed your instructions to the letter, but sadly, no success...all my backups are showing on the TM external HD, but I cannot access them after instsalling 'Mavericks'
    I spent the entire day on and off the phone with Applecare (they are very nice, and I'm sure they know most of the stuff needed; but not this problem. They are phoning back tomorrow as the senior chap was not available.
    I love my apple products, and like you, have been using their gear for well over 25 years...not studying the things, but using them all the way through.
    My present Mac,  a 24" iMac is nearly 7 years old, bought on December 11th 2007, and this is the first time I have had a significant problem, and never a virus..got bless em!. I bet there are not many Windows users around who can say the same!
    However, if I cannot access my backups, I'm a bit lost, as all my accumulated stuff is there!
    I guess the worst case scenario is that I revert to OS X 10.7.5, and wait 'til the bugs are ironed out in Mavericks....Ho Hum

    What are the requirements and steps for arranging to receive this large file using File Transfer Protocol (FTP)?
    Usually, we don't speak of "receive" when using FTP, since the file is transferred from server to client, so it's more of a case of "download".
    At your end, it's simple. You use an FTP client; under SL, that includes Finder and Safari, so you don't even need to get any additional software.
    At the other end, it's more complicated; the 'sender' must set up an FTP server on his machine.
    Alternatively, you can set up your own Mac as an FTP server, and have the 'sender' connect to you with an FTP client and upload the file; but, if your Mac lives behind a router, then you have more work to do with the router settings.
    That's why it's much easier to use the file sharing services mentioned above -- if they are available in both sender's and receiver's locations. (Keep in mind that some countries block access to all those mentioned -- except perhaps <www.transfer.ro>, of which I know absolutely nothing.)

  • How do I find the width of an external swf file that I am loading in

    I have loaded in an external swf file and it works fine.
    However, when I get the width dimensions of the movieclip that is housing the external swf file it gives me a '0' for the width.
    Thanks for your time.

    you must wait until loading is complete before trying to access the loaded objects width.  at that point you can determine the width,height of the onstage/backstage objects in frame 1 of the loaded swf.

    I am using SP 2010 and Client Object Model.
    PFB the code I am running.

    if (clientContext != null)

    I tried to debug the problem by looking at system properties on windows and solaris,
    the difference that I found was
    On Windows
    [exec] tModelInstanceInfo_description : com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol
    On Solaris
    [exec] tModelInstanceInfo_description : weblogic.utils|weblogic.tils|weblogic.net|weblogic.management
    After this I changed the startWLS.sh on Solaris and set
    -Djava.protocol.handler.pkgs=com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol in java options.
    On looking the system properties again, the output was
    [exec] tModelInstanceInfo_description : com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol|weblogic.utils|weblogic.utils|weblogic.net|weblogic.management
    But still the error is same. Can somebody help me out here as to what is going
    wrong? Please find the java class attached for reference, please have a look at
    postXMLtoLloyd() method in the class file..
