Accessing hi multipliers, Pro2A

k7t266 Pro2-A, 1700+ JIUHB
I've flashed the latest BIOS, but am unable to access mulitpliers above 12.5. When booting a higher multiplier, I get a boot speed listing of   ,667
Do I need to manually change a setting on the 1700? I've seen lots of info, a collection of it incomplete or contradictory. What needs to happen with this CPU and this board to get the multipliers?
TIA!
Paul

Take a look here www.ocinside.de as this is the easy
to do - for higher multiplyers you will need to manually unlock them to whatever you need - you will need more wires (about 5). Try using the pin-mode on the socket.

This is my first post on this forum, just to let everyone know right off the bat you are dealing with a nOOb!! I have a little knowledge on the subject from all the reading I've done the last week or two, but still am new to this...Ok, that being said, here we go...

stock PSU 250 watt (yea, yea, more power, I know)
Ok, I just upgraded my vid. card to play BFV because my old Gforce4 mx440se just wasn't cutting it anymore....When I upgraded I started to run some benchmarks(N Bench, SiSiftwareSandra2004, Aquamark3...).....After running AM3 I noticed that my cpu score was much slower than many of the others(cpu 4989  gfx 6099  overall 37,774)...I mean slower than 1.6 G machines, which I found to be quite disturbing! My graphics score holds up nicely compared to others (the FX5900XT OC's like a champ!)...I have all the latest chipset drivers, vid card drivers, sound card drivers etc....My cpu is overclocked using fsb only because my mobo won't allow access to multipliers and voltage controls. After unlocking the 2400, it set to 933Mhz(7x133) to show it was working, but no added options are found...Ater locking it, I realize I need a new motherboard(micro-atx) that will support my pc2700 and a 400 fsb....I don't know if an Nforce 2 will work because they are very selective about the memory they accept...Any suggestions?
I just basically wanted to know why my cpu tests so low in AM3, but not on Sandra2004 with her MIPS and MFLOPS.....It tests well above theXP2400,XP3000, and just better than theXP3200!!!  If I use AIDA32, my cpu tests really low as well...What the hell is going on here? I want to know why 1.6 G machines are beating mine? is it possible my cpu just doesn't like certain benches? Why does it test well in 1 test and bad in another? My cpu score should be almost 2000 points higher in the AM3 bench than it is...Right? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for taking the time to read my long, run on post....I wrote it on my way out the door just before work...If any more info is needed, please let me know...
Thanks in advance for any replies..Like I said, I'm new to this and any help would be greatly appreciated..Thanks again!

  • Cooling Issue's

I have built my new system based on the KT6 Delta FIS2R, Thermaltake Volcano 10+, 2500+ Athlon, and Kingston PC2700. At first I used the pcm 45 thermal pad that came on the hsf, and my temps were around 51 to 53 Celcius at idle. After doing some research I switched to thermal compound (Antec Silver) and this is my second day running with the compound and my temps are around 47 to 49 Celcius at idle. The first day they were the same temps as the pcm 45 pad. The temps have dropped a few degrees but I feel it should still be lower yet ecspecially at idle. I have 2 fans in the psu pushing out, 2 at the rear of the case pushing out, 2 in the front of case pulling in, and 1 at side of case pulling in. All fans are on max speed and my temps are 47 to 49 Celcius cpu idle and sys temp is 34 to 35 idle. Any suggestion's that could possibly help me out with better temps. Thanks in advance guys!

Well I guess I was worried about the temps because I have not yet checked them on load and was in fear they would be high if my idle temps were. Does the thermal grease take a few days to notice big difference's in the temp or is that just rumor? What type of program is most commonly used for stressing or loading up the cpu to gather these temps? And another question a little of subject but, is the Athlon 2500+ locked from factory because I can't access a multiplier higher than 12.5/13. If I try anything higher than 12.5 it will just reset the speeds to well below factory conditions. Thanks for the quick replies guys.

  • MS-6593 KT266 Pro2-U Higher Multipliers = ~700mhz :censored:

I have a KT266 Pro2-U board and a ThoroughbredB XP1800. I want to be able to up the multiplier on this XP to 15. I have the latest official bios for the board and there is a 15x setting in it, however the setting makes the cpu function at 700mhz. I have already unlocked the CPU by bridging the L3 #5 bridge. What else do I have to do to use the higher multiplier? This thing runs at 47 deg under load at 139mhz fsb, I think I can go for the full 15x139 and be stable and cold.

  • K7T pro2, problems with multiplyer.

I just unlocked my cpu (palomino 1700+) with superglue and conductive paint. caus i wanted to overclock it with the multiplyer.
    original clock is 10.5 * 133 now i can run in 11.5 *133.
When i try higher like 14 * 133 the bios sets it to 5 *133 and refuses to save it as 14.
Any comments on how to go around this problem ?
    I´ve downloaded the newest bios.
And the cpu is running at 40 degrees celsius so i have no heating problems.

Ok,   that wasnt much after all that work.
    But thanks for the reply.
Do u think i should get some active cooling on the northbridge instead of the passive that comes w the package?

  • Which graphic card upgrade for Mac Pro2,1?

    I just bought a Mac Pro2,1 2x3.0 GHz Quad-core with NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT: HP LP3065 - 30" display 2560x1600, where everything is a bit too small.
If I change the resolution at all, even the first choice 2048x1536, everything gets bigger as desired, but a bit fuzzy.
Will a better card allow me to have different resolutions and stay crisp as when at 2560x1600?
I'm not a gamer, filmmaker or doing any rendering or even watching movies. I just want things bigger. I'm a web and graphics designer (72 dpi) and need clarity and crispness.
Apple recommended either the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB or the 8600. But they could tell me if it would solve my issue/needs.
Can anyone recommend one/some. I will spend $400+ or if essential more.
    Thanks,
    Steven

For almost all monitors the maximum resolution is also the "native" resolution. If you use anything besides the "native" resolution your display will look fuzzy or slightly out of focus. This is because the monitor is designed with a certain amount of pixels and when you decrease the resolution (make things look bigger) you're forcing your monitor to artificially make pixels bigger so that fewer pixels fill the entire screen. If the number of pixels isn't even and it can't divide them properly it looks fuzzy. For example, if you can set the resolution to exactly half of the native resolution it won't look nearly as bad. However, setting your 30" monitor to 1280x800 (half of 2560x1600) is going to look HUGE and it would be a big waste of all that screen real estate.
Unlike TV's (where the resolution is basically the same for all sizes) you don't buy a bigger monitor to make things look bigger, you buy a bigger monitor to fit more things on the screen. For some, the unfortunate side effect of this is that things appear "smaller." This happens when the number of pixels increases more than the physical size of the monitor increases. When this happens there are more pixels in a given space, thus the pixels are actually smaller. This is usually desired because a monitor with more pixel density (smaller pixels) will produce sharper looking images.
The fuzziness you described is going to be apparent on all monitors, it's just more noticeable on monitors with higher native resolutions. If you go back to the apple store and look at the 24" you'll see it now that you're looking for it .
It's not a great solution, but you can increase the font size in most programs in the preferences menu, or you can turn on the zoom feature in the Universal Access section of System Preferences.

  • K7T266 Pro2 mixing memory ?!?

    Hi all,
I am having a problem with mixing memory.  The tech. at the computer shop say that a PC2100 and a PC2700 should work whitout problem, so I by one 512MB  PC2700 !!!
Here, on my mobo, the memory check pass at boot, but WindowsXP crash when it access the PC2700 memory...
In bios, I set CAS lentacy at 2.5 and force the memory clock to 133MHz...
Note that the PC2700 work fine, alone...
You have idea ?  Is PC2100 and PC2700 can be mixted ?
    thanks,

Also, I can tell you that this mobo, K7T266 Pro2, is very picky about memory sticks.
    Especially when mixing brands.

  • Network user access to local disk to solve I/O throughput issue?

Not sure if this is the best forum for this, but...
    THE ISSUE:
I work at a small university and am responsible for the Mac network and video dept (only 1 xserve and about 20-odd clients). Anyway, everyone uses network accounts. I have 3 iMacs for Final Cut and so far everyone just captures to the server over gigabit ethernet. We're only using DV25 (~4MB/sec transfer) and it hasn't been an issue until this week. Now as people begin to stress more about final projects, however, and are spending more time, the suites are being used more during the same times. Even though the throughput is usually less than 10MB/sec, which (I think?) is well under what gigabit ethernet supports, we're consistently getting stalled video and dropped frames. We've often had multiple people working on projects (playback) simultaneously in the past, but never capturing simultaneously before. Also, another factor that may come into play, is my 3TB RAID 5 that they're using has become rather full at this point (down to 200MB) so perhaps read/write times are being affected?
Now, we're looking at adding 6 more Final Cut suites, which will potentially increase my throughput load by 200%, so I really need to find a solid solution (and fibre cards are not an option since they're iMacs--and we don't have that budget anyway).
    THE QUESTION:
Since the issue seems to only occur while capturing and not during playback, it seems the easiest solution would be to give the editor group access to the local hard drive (and then copy from there to their network storage so they can work on any given station later) which I'm not sure how the best way to do this would be. OR, should gigabit ethernet be capable of sustaining the throughput I need and there's some other problem I should be looking at to fix that?
Related, if they do capture to the local disk (or even an external hard drive, which we may end up going to), is there some script or something that can be run every night to automatically copy files from X location on a local drive to Y location (say, a common media storage location) on the server RAID?

    Hi
    +". . . my 3TB RAID 5 that they're using has become rather full at this point (down to 200MB). . ."+
I think the problem you're currently seeing starts (and probably ends) here. Regardless of what your data comprises of the general rule of thumb is to make sure you keep at least 10% of free disk space for any hard drive let alone a RAID. Most people would generally recommend 15% for a RAID 5. A rough calculation based on your 3TB RAID would mean you should keep at least 300GB free. You're well below that unless 200MB is a typo? I'm surprised the whole thing has not ground to a halt?
Video Capture, Editing and Playback in a network home environment is always going to place a considerable strain on any network unless you've prepared the ground first. For example 60 seconds of RAW Video is roughly 200MB in size. Multiply this for a classroom of 16 and that's a lot of data. Even if you're not using hi-def you're still talking a lot of data.
There are better ways of doing this.

  • K7T266 PRO2 (MS6380 Ver 3.0) FDD Controler Problems

I just purchased a new boxed OEM MSI K7T266 PRO2 (MS6380 - Ver 3.0) motherboard from JUST DEALS on E-bay which seems to have very sparce (or none) documentation for download on this site.  This is a non-raid board which has the AGP Pro video card socket (with the white lock and release lever at the end of the AGP female connector).  The board can also be identified with the following rather unique component/connector layout at the bottom end of the board:
    1.  In place of where RAID connectors attach to most of these model boards, this board has three aux USB connectors above the connector where the case front panel connectors usually plug in.
    2.  There are 3 CDROM audio connectors at the lower left below the last PCI slot.
    3.  To the left of the case front panel connector, there are two rows of connectors and jumpers which appear to be for  use with a case which has front panel audio connectors.  I believe the jumpers are for the purpose of selecting which audio output to use  (front or the standard rear sound output jacks.
    4.  The area between the last PCI slot and the USB and front panel audio connectors described above, the motherboard is rather blank with no components or even places where optional components have not been installed.
    5.  This motherboard has a Phoenix bios whereas most other K7T motherboards made by MSI seem to be AMI bios.
    6.  Finally, when doing a search for MS6380 Ver3.0 on Google, all the hits seem to be in Russian, German or French.   I suspect that this MB may have been manufactured for the European market.   BIOS display is in English, however.
    PROBLEM
I have installed an AMD Athlon TBird 1.2 ghz cpu with 40mb WD hard drive which already had Windows Me and lots of other SW installed.  The system boots just fine from the hard drive and all works well except for the Floppy drive.   When I try to access the FDD with a know good disk installed with valid data, it comes on and spins up, the front light blinks and after about 30 seconds of continuous running, a message comes up "floppy disk not formated, format now: (Y/N)"  If I try to format the disk, it will not format and the system will ask to check to see if a disk is installed.   Changing floppy disks does not help, whether this is a disk which has verified data installed or just a formated blank disk.  I have tried two different FDD cables and 3 different Floppy drives and always get the same result.   I have checked for bent or broken pins in the connectors and found they are all good.  The FDD is a 1.44 MB and is connected to the end of the two-drive cable.  No other FDD is installed.  When I go into the BIOS setup, I verify that Drive A is installed as a 1.44BM 3.5" Floppy and None is selected for Drive B.
I am currently at a loss to know how to proceed here.  I am wondering if this could be a BIOS problem but I am not sure if I can find BIOS update on the MSI Web site when they do not even list a MS6380 Ver 3.0 motherboard at all.
I am considering installing a PCI FDD controller card but not sure that these are even manufactured.
    Please help.

    To Toenne:
Thanks for the reply.  This has to be a BIOS problem since the FDD has to be accessed by the BIOS before any software or installed chipset drivers on the HD are ever used.  With my problem, I cannot even boot the system from the FDD.
I tried resetting CMOS and that did not help.  I wonder if there is some kind of multi-mode floppy disk drive which this BIOS expects to see other that you standard old fashion IBM 3.5" 1.44gb drive.  The solution is likely to reflash the BIOS except with this odd MB serial number, I am not sure if I can find the latest BIOS software for this Phoenix chip.
Does anyone know if there are any PCI FDD controller cards on the market where I could disable the on-board controller and use a plug-in card?
    Thanks

  • Raid 0 Failure! XP Pro won't read array on MSI k7T266 pro2 *URGE

Before anything else, thanks for reading and I hope you can help:
I have an MSI k7T266 Pro2A-RU motherboard with 512MB of Mushkin RAM, AMD XP 1600+, a Geforce2 MX400, Audigy Soundcard and a cheap PCI NIC card.  I consider myself an above average technician and I've come up on a problem I can't figure out.  There is about 80GB of data at stake here:
I have 2 IBM Deskstar 40GB 7200 RPM drives that were configured in a RAID 0 (stripe) configuration over a year and a half ago.  This gave me a total of 80GB online.  Windows XP Professional was installed and the drives have been running fine every since...
The system was practically bulletproof and it was very rare it ever locked up for any reason.  A few days ago, however, the system locked up about 4 or five times.  There was no software or hardware that had been added or installed and system use hadn't really changed up or down. I run up to date antivirus software (Command Anti-Virus), run behind a secure firewall and watch what I open.  The lock ups were random, but happened when I was away from the computer. ( I leave my system on all the time).
Being a bit paranoid, on 1/28/03, I acquired an 80GB Maxtor drive to install to back up my datafiles.  Before the install, I notice the system had locked up at least once that day, so I figured I would hurry up and get the drive in to back up.  I installed the 80, booted, configured it in XP and made it active and transfered a few test files over.  No problem.  I made the decision to back up my data files before bed and continued to work for the next two hours.  The system ended up locking up with a windows blue screen STOP error message: KERNEL_FAULT_INPAGE_ERROR when I tried to run a program.  Thinking little of it, I rebooted the computer to find I could no longer access the data on the RAID.
I've tried nearly EVERYTHING I can think of.  (You can already assume I've done the basics (check/replace the cables, etc).  Here's a list and the results:
---- Reboot in all available modes (Safe,  Safe with NW, Normal, Last known, etc).  They all FAIL.  In safe modes, you can see where the system actually tries to boot off the array (runs through driver files and stops on MUP.SYS) and hangs. Same result with all other drives removed except the RAID.
---- Installed another drive, loaded XP with the raid controller files (By the way, it's a Promise ATA 100 "lite" controller), plugged the RAID back in and it hangs on boot up.  Safe mode gives the same results.  Tried the same thing with Windows 2000 (so I could access the NTFS partition) and Windows 2000 won't load when the array is plugged in, but loads ok when it isn't (used the 2000 driver for the RAID controller for this attempt).   Safe mode gives the same results.
---- Removed all drives except the Array and tried to reload XP (with the array drivers downloaded again from the site.) No effect.  System hangs.
---- In a last ditch effort, I have access to Winternals Administration Pack 2002 of all of their tools.  ERC Commander, designed for this type of problem, Disk Commander, and the other tools all do the same thing:  Any time the system attempts to read from or access the arry, the OS will hang.  It won't even check for NTFS compatibility in the ERC commander program booting from a boot CD, and for those that are familiar with it, the Disk Commander program blue screens with a STOP: 0x000007B (0xF896963C, 0xC0000034, 0x0, 0x0) error. Research has told me this is an INACCESSABLE BOOT DEVICE message.
These are the main highlight major attempt things and there's a few things in between I've tried (like using Norton Ghost to try and mirror the array to the 80GB.  Norton ghost said there is an error reading the partition and can't go any further (Returns an Internal error))
I'm at the point where I have run out of available options and don't know what else to try.  I have since purchased the exact same motherboard off e-bay to see if it just so happens to be the controller and to see if my RAID will come back so I can at least read the data off of it.  It should be here in a few days.  If that doesn't work, I'm toasted.  Could I be fighting a hardware (drive or board or controller) problem.  Is the array THAT corrupt the OS can't read it???
If anyone has any other bright ideas, I'm willing to try about anything short of damaging the array. Any help is greatly appreciated.  Please post here, or e-mail to [email protected].
BTW, the Promise BIOS is Fasttrak 100 "Lite" v 1.31.1(Build 30)
    Thanks.

  • Use thinkvantage access connections to map a network drive

Is it possible to use thinkvantage access connections to map a network drive. I have three different basic sites (home, work1, work2) with network drives that I would like to access depending on the site.
    1) I wonder if it is possible to configure thinkvantage access connections to automatically map the network resources through a connection profile?
    2) I wonder if it is possible to configure thinkvantage access connections to automatically map the network resources through a connection profile that is based on vpn connection?
    thanks in advance
    sincerely, anders

    Hi,
directly it's not possible for Access Connection to reconfigure your network drives.
However, there is one really cool part of Access Connection, that might be realy suitable for your situation. This part is the script/application, that can be executed when a profile gets applied.
So for your situation I can imagine, that you create a .bat file, that contains something like this:
    net use * /DELETE /YES
    net use Z: \\computer name\share name
The first part will delete all maped drives. The second part will establish connection that you want to use. Of course you can multiply the last part, so that you can configure multiple connections.
Please let me know, if this helps.
    Cheers

  • Accessing Data Warehouse with HTML DB

I have a test data warehouse database 10g comprising of seven dimension tables and one fact table. When I access one table at a time, the query runs fine, but when I join two dimension tables or more to the fact table, the result set comes out wrong. The performance is also very poor. Is HTML DB not capable of properly accessing a data warehouse data?
Here is the query I'm having problem with:
    SELECT p.prod_name, s.store_name, pr.week, sl.dollars
FROM sales sl, product p, period pr, store s
    WHERE p.prodkey = sl.prodkey
    AND pr.perkey = sl.perkey
    AND p.prod_name LIKE 'Assam Gold%'
    OR p.prod_name LIKE 'Earl%'
    AND s.store_name LIKE 'Instant%'
    AND pr.month = 'NOV'
    AND pr.year = 2003
    ORDER BY p.prod_name, sl.dollars DESC
    Your input would be appreciated.

I doubt this was intentional, but you are not joining the store table to anything. You do filter the rows from that table with the AND s.store_name LIKE 'Instant%' predicate, but it is not joined to any of the other 3 tables. Your query will essentially return the number of rows from the other 3 tables multiplied by the number of rows returned from store. SYou might think about grouping some of your predicates for readability and possibly for correct logic.SELECT p.prod_name, s.store_name, pr.week, sl.dollars
FROM sales sl, product p, period pr, store s
    WHERE p.prodkey = sl.prodkey
       AND pr.perkey = sl.perkey
       -- Add missing predicate here
       -- AND s.something = sl,p, or pr .something
       -- end missing predicate
       AND (p.prod_name LIKE 'Assam Gold%'
            OR
            p.prod_name LIKE 'Earl%')
       AND s.store_name LIKE 'Instant%'

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your taking the time to help me with this problem.  I'm doing a healing technician training class at my church, and have most of my study material on my ipod.  It cashed this weekend which hindered my preparation for my class tomorrow night.  I went to the local "Apple Store" late last night and they could get me up and running.   They suggested that I call the APL CARD line which I did today, but they gave me a nice run around seccession, and did nothing.  Then I was lead to "Google" my question, which eventually lead me to the "Apple" site.  Praise the LORD for your help and may you be richly blessed with multiplied blessings in all that you put your hands to do.  May you receive a great harvest.  As far as I'm concerned you were used by the LORD, and are the real genius!!!
    Thanks
