Accessing home wifi with iPod touch

I received an iPod touch for Christmas and have successfully loaded it with music from my iTunes account on the computer. I now want to be able to access the internet, iTunes, App Store etc. on the iPod touch but cannot connect. It is asking for a password. I've tried my iTunes and hotmail password with no success. Getting very frustrated. Can anyone out there help me? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply however, I'm still stuck. Now I understand what it is asking for but can't figure out what screen I was in to enter the number. When I select Settings / Wifi it has Choose a Network and it has selected BigPond8966 which is what is on the modem. The next screen has an IP Address and Subnet Mask numbers in each. There is then ROUTER/DNS/SEARCH DOMAINS/CLIENT ID which are all blank. Is this where I'm to enter the WPA number? Getting so frustrated that I can't get it working.

Can not access home network via ipod touch, password entered not accepted
Trying to help my son set up his ipod touch to connect to the network and the password I entered is not accepted.
    1. Which password is required? I entered the password I use for logging into my router
    2. The home network is recognized, when selected it requires a password to be entered, but I am just not sure what password it is looking for to connect.
I have not been able to find any information on this subject

jersey0904, Welcome to the discussion area!
You need to enter the wireless encryption password... not the administrative password for the router.

  • Can no longer access wifi with ipod touch

since the most recent upgrade to my ipod touch (4th gen - 8G) i can no longer access any wifi. how do I re-establish those connections?

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    Is this the problem?
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

  • Unable to home share with iPod Touch (4th Gen) and iPad 2

Since I have upgraded to iTunes 11 I am unable to home share my HD movies to both my iPod Touch (4th Gen) and my iPad 2
I was able to home share all my HD movies before iTunes 11.
I know that the iPad 2 and 4th Gen iPod Touch can only support 720p, but by streaming/home sharing that was the work around.
But again, once I upgraded to iTunes 11... when I go on my iPad or iPod Touch I can no longer see them in my shared library.
Here is the crazy part though... if I go downstairs and get on my 2nd gen AppleTV... I can see all my movies in my shared library.
DO YOU THINK IT IS iOS 6.0.1 ????

There are no setting on the iPod. Unlike the iPad wich morrors the iPad display, TV out on an iPod only displays TV out on apps that support TV out. The Video app is one such app.
    Is that you problem?
    Otherwise:
    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • Starbucks login problem att wifi with ipod touch

last few days no matter what starbucks i go,
    inside or outside

    sometimes pages partially shows
then i back to list avail hotspots
i saw another post this here in forums
    please help
the not locked hotspots work fine
and works fine home wifi spot
    i think att changed something
just like what corporations do to masses!

There is no Starbucks limitation on access at corporate stores or anything else. Try forgetting the network and logging in again, there was just an article regarding the ability to "spoof" the attwifi network, they may be making security changes.

  • Loaded up Firefox home on my ipod touch and whenever I go to open a book mark or a web page it crashes and shuts down.

I have loaded the firefox home on my ipod touch and sync'd it. Everything came over in the sync but when I open something, and then start scrolling down the page, it just shuts the program down.

You have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

  • Help on syncing multiple calendars with iPod Touch 4g 64g

In our university, we use iCal with Blackboard. Also, our main *email* is Entourage - pretty sure it's the most recent version for Mac.
How can we sync the Entourage calendar with iCal, and be sure that they are all merged and 2-way functional for the iPod touch and laptops (I know for multiple computers we'll have to set up home sharing - for now let's just focus on the calendar syncing).
I have instructions for syncing Entourage with iPod Touch, and it's been recommended to use Google to sync with iCal (thanks llllass) but we don't want to use Google or MobileMe to get to iCal.  iCal is already built into the iPod Touch, as I'm sure you know.
Any advice on how to make this super simple?
    Thanks in advance.

My first suggestion is to try Stanza, as it is a much more configurable ebook reader.  You can use the
Calibre (ebook management/conversion utility) to transfer ebooks from your computer to your iPod Touch.
    <http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30657/calibre>
Looking at iBooks on my iPod Touch, my font selection and font size are only present when I have an ebook open.  If I tap the center of a page, the top edge of the screen has
Library | Table of Contents | Brightness | aA (font size, and font selection) | Search | Bookmark
Where the aA icon brings up a control that has a small a and a large A.  If I tap on the large A, each tap increases the font size until it gets REALLY BIG.  Tapping on teh small a reduces the font size for each tap.
Landscape lock.  OK for the iPod Touch as a whole, you put the iPod Touch in the orientation you desire, then you quick double-tap on the home button.  This will bring up a list of your running apps.  Now slide the list to the right, and you will see music controls as well as on the far left a screen lock button.  Tap the screen lock button to lock your iPod Touch in its current orientation.  Unlock it later when you want your iPod Touch to be able to rotae again.
NOTE:  Stanza as an ebook reader, it has its own configuration control that locks Stanza into a specific orientation, independent of the iPod Touch orientation or the iPod Touch orientation lock.  Another reason I like Stanza.
Wallpaper.  I think you can only change it to something else.  Settings -> Wallpaper, then tap on the screen you want to change.  Now select a different Wallpaper from either the Wallpaper selections, or anything in your Camera Roll, or your Photo Library.

After acceessing home screen with assistive touch auto lock is not working in my iphone 4S after upgrading to ios6

Additional testing i perform to make wifi work but nothing works out:
i did re-installing the software using iTunes, reset the network settings restarting the phone. Nothing solves my problem.
wifi was working with older software versions. i think there should be a problem with 8.1.1.
is anyone has fix for this issue?

  • Need help setting up Network on iMac so I can WiFi my iPod Touch

Have 1st Gen iPod touch with Stanza app (book reader). Need to set up WiFi Network connection on my iMac (Leopard 10.5.5) so I can connect to internet with iPod touch and download books into Stanza. Need detailed info on how to do this, please. I've tried using the setup assistant in Network, but nothing I enter works. I use BellSouth DSL internet service, so don't have to log in each time I turn on DSL. It appears it's a DHCP configuration. Can anyone help me with this, please. Thanks very much.

Thanks for your reply, Julian. Actually, I'd had my iMac set up properly since last Sept., but my brother has now moved in with me and he also has a new iMac and a new iPod touch and I was trying to remember how to set up the network on his Mac so he could use his Mac with his iPod touch to do his downloads using the network connection from his own computer. I do not have a router. We share our BellSouth DSL modem by simply moving it from one Mac to the other when we want to get on the internet. Both Macs have built in Airport, which is what I know I'd been using - I say BEEN using, because today I really screwed up my Mac when I was trying to remember how to set up the network and now I can no longer use my iPod touch-to-iMac WiFi function either.
When I first set up my network, I got help from someone in a forum and thought I'd printed and kept the very simply instructions he gave me, but I can't find them. I seem to remember him telling me I'd have to get my Mac's IP address, which I have, but when I go thru the network setup assistant it doesn't ask me to enter it anywhere. Also, the setup assistant tells me that I can't connect automatically to the internet, which is not true. I don't have to log in when I plug in my modem - I'm automatically connected.
I'm familiar with internet sharing, cause that's what I've been using when I downloaded apps updates, etc. But now, I can't even get Airport to turn on. The more I try, the more confused and frustrated I get. I'm usually pretty good with this kind of thing, but I'm completely baffled now.
I do want, and think this is what I was doing before I screwed things up today, to share my Mac's wired internet connection to the iPod touch wirelessly, as you said, and which is what I'd been doing. Can you help me? It was so easy the last time I did this, but I just can't get it done now!
Did I screw things up because I already had one network set up on my Mac and was trying to set up another one on my Mac (just to test it out before I tried to do it on my brother's Mac)? HELP!
    Thanks for your help.

  • Use Voxer Walkie-Talkie PTT with ipod touch

I read mention of using Voxer Walkie-Talkie PTT with ipod touch. Is this true? If so, does it need WiFi or would blue tooth work? We will be gonig on a cruise and I have iPhone and my friend has iPod touch and this would be a great help if we could communicat this way.
Anhy suggestion for communication would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,  Syl

A simple search of the iTunes Store (in the UK) shows this:
... and clicking on that would open much more information about the app, including where to find even more information or ask questions.
The app appears to need Wi-Fi, but it will not work over Bluetooth. Also, it requires iOS7 on the iPod/iPhone.

  • Problems with Ipod Touch

    Problems with iPod Touch.
Hi, I bought an ipod touch in Colombia a couple of months ago but lost the invoice, I tried using it but everytime I connect the iPod to the computer, it restarts over and over again, I've tried all the recommendations show in the Apple support site, but no method has proved the question is, I can take this ipod to a Mac store in the U.S. for repair or change.
I live in Venezuela, there is some Apple store in my country where I can take it.
Thanks in advance for your quick response

You should be able to go to the USA for warrantee service. If you purchased at an Apple store you should be able to go to your account in iTunes and see the purchase. I am confused by your statement:
"I live in Venezuela, there is some Apple store in my country where I can take it."
If you go to the Venezuela apple website you can see if/where there are Apple stores.

  • ITunes U not compatible with iPod touch 4th and 5th generation.

I attempted to subscribe to the course, Moons An Introduction. When opening one of the course books, I get an error message stating I need an iPad to read the book. There is nothing about the course being incompatible with iPod touch. Why can't incompatibility information be included in the course description?  What a waste of my time. Please don't advise me to open the book on my computer. I don't want to read a book on my computer. That's why I got an iPod. I'm thinking about getting an iPad, but as soon as I purchase one, it will be outdated. Isn't this a ploy by apple to get people to buy iPads?  How many iTunes U courses are like this?  The most important book of the course is incompatible.
    Thanks,
    Brenda Woollard

Thank you, lllaass.  Of course, an apple user remarks to this fact in their review. Are all courses going to have reviews attached? Why do I have to read reviews on courses to get this information?  Who is writing the review?  It's not an apple official. How reliable is information in reviews?  I've read reviews that have incorrect information. Why not put the fact that a course is incompatible with iPod right in the course description. It would save a lot of time and wasted bandwidth. Why was the book allowed to be downloaded onto an unsupported device?
