Accessing imac from pc laptop

My desktop is an imac with an Airport Extreme. I have a pc laptop running XP. The laptop is connecting to the Internet wirelessly and I, as of today, can finally event print to a printer connected to the imac. Can someone point me to instructions on how to access files on the mac from the pc and the other way round? I have marked some files on the pc for sharing and I believe sharing is turned on on the imac. I have no idea how to see the mac from the pc. Thaks for any assistance.

Amazingly I made a little progress since I posted. I can see the imac. A log in screen popped up, but I didn't know what to put as a login and password, but I took a guess. I think it worked, but all I could see was the printer and a public folder. I'm assuming I have to something on the mac side to make more folders accessible.

I usually can eventually access the router, but it is way to much trouble. However, I use my iPad hundreds of times more often than my laptop.

YOu would have to set it up as an IMAP account, which would depend on what email service you are using.

Downloaded word for ipad, can't access itunes from my laptop

I am receiving an error accessing itunes on my laptop stating that the program I downloaded isn't available to download, programs listed is Word and Excel for ipad.
I did download word and excel for my ipad, but why is it impacting itunes on a different device?

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

How do I migrate Lightroom 4 onto my new iMac from old laptop?

I have just purchased a new iMac, and would like to use my version of Lightroom 4 which I have been using on my old laptop. Can I just download it from adobe.com on the new machine and then use my previous serial number to activate it? Is there an easy place to find my serial number if I don't have the original Lightroom packaging anymore? Do I have to deactivate it on my old laptop, before or after setting it up on the new machine?
After all that, is it easy to bring in my photo library from the external hard drive?

If the folder you want to share isn't viaible, you can use SharePoints to make any folder available to share.

Is it posible to retain the master files on an imac, transferring them to macbook to edit, then back to the master library on the imac..... So I can retain the main library on imac, but amend and edit things from the laptop??

What you could do in Aperture is the following:
You can select the projects you currently are working on in your main Aperture library on your iMac and export them as a new partial Aperture library, then transfer this library to your new MacPro, edit them there, then merge the edited library again into the main library on your iMac.
Or simply move your Aperture library to an external drive and connect the drive to the Mac you are working on.

Hi, if you are working at home on your home network, you can go to GO on your top bar, then Network and providing your MBP is ON you will see it in the Open window..click on the MBP icon & follow the sign in procedure.. you can then access All your files etc..dragNdrop etc.. I use 3 Macs in that way..
If you are out of range of your wireless network you will need a 3rd party App that can hook your Macs up..Do not forget to enable Network Sharing...L

Can access Apple TV via airplay, but can't get to internet or iMac from Apple TV. Whenever I try to put my info in it says to try later. When I test network it says network time has not been set. It has worked previously.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Restart your mobile device.
