Accessing Itunes store thru windows Vista parental controls

Hello, This my first time posting a messsage. Lately ITunes 7.5.20 will not let my kids go to ITunes store. It tells me the check my internet connection. Mu connectoion is just fine. I run the diagnostics from the Itunes pulldown menu and it passes as well. If I Turn off the parental controls then it works again. Is anyone else having this issue. Is there a way to fix this?

  • Cannot connect to itunes store-with Windows Vista

I downloaded itunes 7 and thats when my problem started. From itunes store I click on account to create a new account because my aol account is expired. When the connection is attempted an apple itunes error screen comes on that says "Your request could not be completed". "Make sure your computer's date is set correctly and that it accepts cookies from the itunes music store. For detailed solutions to solve the issue, click "more info". When I do that I get instructions to make sure cookies can be accepted. I have already checked my Internet Explorer settings and added the itunes music store to my "always trusted" websites. The second instructions have me hung up. It says to go into control panel, date and time, and click on "internet time". Then to synchronize with an internet time server. When I try to do that with each server listed, I get errors. "An error occured while attempting to synchronize with the server" time.windows.com or any of the others as well. I have tried a thousand times over and I cannot get synchronization. Is this what is really stopping me from connecting to the itunes music store? When I went to Windows Vista help, Microsoft says that Vista Home Premium Edition does not have sync capabilites. PLEASE HELP! I hope someone has encountered and solved this problem. Thanks.

  • Error 1202 with iTunes Store and Windows Vista

When I try to redeem music on iTunes Store, or access my account, etc. I receive "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-1202).
I have read many similar posts and tried many fixes (checked time/date on my computer, made sure LAN proxy settings is unchecked, turned off my Norton firewall, tried to access iTunes Store in safe mode, etc.). None of these worked. Please help as we would like to purchase music from the iTunes store and have done so successfully in the past on this computer.

This problem is related to having your computer, Apple device, etc
(from your current physical location) being unable to resolve/connect to
the following site/domain names and their related IP address(s).
The following table is presented to help explain/clarify this issue:
    Site/Domain name | IP Address
    phobos.apple.com | 17.250.237.43
    deimos3.apple.com | 206.169.246.144
    albert.apple.com | 17.149.240.64
    gs.apple.com | 17.151.36.30
    itunes.apple.com | 206.169.246.171
    ax.itunes.apple.com | 206.169.246.139
If ANY of these sites/IP address are unresolvable (via PING for example)
then the ability/usability of Apple's iTunes (and the Store) will suffer.
To have yourself verify that (if) you can connect to these sites, you'll
need to open up a MSDOS/Command prompt window
and then type "ping" (without the quotes) and one of the (above) listed sites.
For example you would type the following at your command prompt:
ping phobos.apple.com (then press the return/enter key)
which (should) give you results like this:
pinging phobos.apple.com.akadns.net http://17.250.237.43 with 32 bytes of data:
Note: Anyt response other than "reply" (like Request timed out)
indicates a problem resolving the site's name to an IP address
and (generally) has NOTHING to do with your (normally functioning) computer
as this is dependent on the ISP (Internet Service Provider) that you are
using to connect to the Internet (like Sprint, Insightbb, etc) with.
The 'key' here is that it's the ISP's responsibility to (properly) resolve
the site's name to (one or more of) Apple's sites.
If (however) Apple (itself) is (currently) experiencing a DDOS attack
(Distributed Denial Of Service) upon one (or more) of it's sites, then THAT
would explain a possible cause of the problem.
However I stress THAT is NOT the problem since I can connect from my Insightbb
(ISP provider) at home but (currently) can not connect at work via their ISP.
This is (also) WHY the "tag" of the FQDNSN (Fully-Qualified DNS Name)
is listed as http://akadns.net since that is the ISP/Router resolving the DNS name!
I hope that this has helped shed some light as to WHo's problem this REALLY is,
and will help to stop the Apple-User 'finger-pointing' game in it's tracks!

  • Can't access itunes store on windows 8

When I access the itunes store on windows 8, it comes up with, itunes has stopped working and says trying to find solution and no solution could be found and then ends the program, how do I fix this?

Thanks I've tried this however it still is not working, I have tried uninstalling itunes completely and reinstalling it without any luck. The itunes still works, but when I try to get onto the store it still comes up with the error message. I have checked the firewall and it is allowed and I've tried safe mode. Any other ideas?

  • Windows Vista Parental Controls Preventing Connection to iTunes Store?

I really have two questions, one of which I think I have resolved but would like to find a more elegant way of handling. Let's tackle that first, after I provide some background.
I have been "managing" the contents of my son's iPod using my computer. Now that he has his own computer it should be up to him. I have two users established on his computer, with me as administrator. I have set up parental controls and am specifiying the websites he can access. I used an external hard drive to copy all his music files to his computer, putting them in a folder under his user name.
When he tries to play music copied from CD's or purchased from iTunes using my computer, a message pops up that says "The song <song name> could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" Absent a way to locate all such songs simultaneously, I click on the yes button and scroll through the list of songs until I find the one desired. Is there a better way, or are he and I going to have do repeat this hundreds of times? I think this needs to be resolved before he tries to sync his iPod with his computer. Correct?
The second problem crops up when he tries to purchase songs from iTunes. The error message reads "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occured (-9808). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later." Apple.com is one of the sites he is allowed to visit, and there is no mention of parental controls or filtering (normally when that happens I am allowed to override with my password). Also, the computer has been authorized. Has anyone experienced anything like this or know what the workaround is? Does it have to do with parental controls, or is it something else?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I have a few things to offer that may make things a bit easier. You mention the library or music content is on an External HD and you copied it to his PC. Is the Hard Data aka the songs themselves still on the computer in a folder?
If so. Delete the songs in iTunes, Select 1 song, then Edit Select All, and Delete from Library. Now go to iTunes - Edit - Preferences- Advanced Tab
-Put a check mark in Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized, Copy files to iTunes Music Folder when adding to the library. Thus whenever songs get added into iTunes a hard copy will be copied into the iTunes music directory stored in
Music - iTunes - iTunes Music.
-Now exit out of Preferences, Go to File - Add Folder to Library - (assuming all the songs from the HD are in 1 massive folder) and browse for this folder. iTunes will scan it, add it into iTunes, and then copy a hard digital copy into the Music-iTunes-iTunes Music folder. You can go confirm the files are there by visiting the folder. The file size of the iTunes folder should grow as you add more and more music.
Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • IPhone user, Can Not Access iTunes Store, Using Windows 7

    Dear Sir
I used to access the iTune Store from my computer everyday. But since a couple of weeks I started receiving the following (Connecting to the iTune Store) message after clicking on the Store link in iTunes.
    http://i50.tinypic.com/1glc8.jpg
It just stays there loading forever.
But I can access the store normally using my iPhone and using other laptops over the same network.
What can the reason be? I am using the latest versions of iTunes and iPhone on Windows 7.
I have tried the iTunes built-in connectivity test and it passed all the tests, I have tried re-installing iTunes, And I have also checked support article (TS1470) and I already have the mentioned options enabled.
    Thanks.

With that one, try launching iTunes. Go "Edit > Preferences" and select the "Parental control" tab.
Is "Disable iTunes Store" checked? If so, try unchecking that and clicking OK.
Can you get through to the Store now?

  • Upgraded to Itunes 10.5 yesterday and have no "text" at all only when I access Itunes Store, using Windows XP

Upgraded to 10.5 Itunes yesterday and have no "text" anywhere except in Itunes store. I do not even see the Toolbar drop menus up top (File, Help, etc.) I cannot make out any music in my library. I wish to upgrade my Ipad to IOS5 but am afraid to sync it because I won't see what I'm doing it. I saw a similar link where Windows may not have a Font and installed all uninstalled fonts to see if that would work, but did not. Do I need to uninstall Itunes and reinstall? I have Windows XP. Really not sure if it's an Apple/Itunes problem or a Windows problem. Haven't had any issues with any other updates.
    Any help is appreciated....

So after a month of trying to figure all this out I FINALLY fixed the problem!
Before you do anything just go to your destop > right click personalize (this is for windows 7 - might be different for XP; I honestly forgot, but same idea) > find "window color" > select "advance appearance settings
(I think can be found by just typing "window color and appearance" in the search from the start menu).
Finally select "active title bar" (If the font is SEGOE UI, then following the link is the best thing to do; IF ITS NOT, I would think you can just follow the same steps and modify accordingly to how you want your fonts to look in iTunes). http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-desktop/how-to-change -system-default-font-in-all-parts/dfce15db-7337-420a-a42e-517521a8502e
Hopefully this helps!!! Worked for me!

  • Hi...i cant connect to itunes store using windows vista??

When i try and connect to the itunes store or sign in it says "itunes cannot connect to the itunes store" Make sure your network connection is active and try again.
Well my network connection using wifi with talktalk is active and works fine so what am i doing wrong??
Please help if anyone knows? I have the latest itunes 7.2 running.
    Cheers
    Rob

If you look around the various topics and threads you will notice a lot of angry people all with the same problem in one form or another - can't connect, timing out, slow downloads etc. I am using iTunes 7.2 and I have encountered some long waits. When there are so many problems happening at once it is hard to know if you are the one person who actually has a problem or if you are just one of the many caught up in the frenzy of DRM-free downloading. Keep trying. The mere fact that you have been able to post on this forum shows that something must be working.

  • TS4123 I cannot connect to ITunes store from Windows Vista.  Get unknown error (0x80092013) message but am network connected.  Diagnostics say not administrator, but am.  No LSP.  HELP!

Network connection IS active.  Network connectivity test confirms, but shows Secure link to ITunes store failed.  Tried help from diagnostics but get message that help is unavailable because computer isn't connected to internet (but it is).  Diagnostic details show current user is not administrator (but is).  Details show basic connection to the store failed.  Tried all the "helps"/solutions I could find--  ie flush dns, No LSP except Bonjour, firewalls, etc. and still can't connect.  What can I do????

Must have Admin password for the OS system to know you are Admin -
that error is known for eventually having to either
    1 Unintall reinstall itune or
    2 Reinstall Windows

  • Accessing itunes store causes window to shutdown

Since I've downloaded itunes7, whenever I access the store randomly the application shutsdown. I can access the store but I never know when the whole thing will close. I'm not having this problem with any other application and can access my library no problem--it's only with the store. Can anyone help??

OMG, I'm having the same problem. GRRRR.

  • Using ITunes Store with Windows Vista

I seem to be having a problem with downloading my songs. I keep receiving an error message (err. 3259) and I have already paid for my downloads. Now what?

You can try to download items one at a time to get rid of this error message. Follow these steps for such:
    1) Open iTunes.
    2) From the Store pull-down menu at the top, choose Check for Purchases.
    3) Enter your account name and password, then click Check. Your purchases should begin downloading.
    4) Under the STORE section on the left, click Downloads.
    5) Click the Pause All button in the lower-right corner. This will temporarily pause all of your downloads.
    6) To resume only one of the downloads, click the refresh button that appears to the right of one of the paused downloads.
If that doesn't help, you may want to consider performing the following to be sure no software is conflicting with iTunes:
1.) Disable all anti-virus software you may have running
2.) Disable all firewall software you may have running
3.) Disable all web acceleration software you may have running
4.) If you are connected to the internet via an internet router, please disconnect it and connect directly via your broadband modem
    Hope this helps =)

  • Vista Parental Control Settings to allow use of a networked iTunes library?

I just installed iTunes on a new Vista machine, and under a user account with no parental controls, I can access my main library on my XP machine on a local area network. However, as soon as I put on Parental Controls in Vista, iTunes running on the Vista will not allow me to access my main library on my XP machine. I get an error saying that I need to modify my Firewall (Defender) to allow access to the shared (networked) library.
Does anyone know if there are some basic settings in the Vista Parental Controls that I can change that will allow access to the shared iTunes library?
    Thanks,
    Paul

OK, I seem to have found a solution to this issue after looking around the web.
I did some experimentation with the allowed web site listing within Vista, and found that when I put the following allowed web sites/domains into my son's listing, I can keep parental controls running and allow him to access the iTunes store.
    http://phobos.apple.com
    http://phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net
Actually, the second site is the one that is the one that enables the access, but the web posting that i found listed them both.
Good luck to all in providing a safe computing environment for their kids!

    A Concerned Parent
