Accessing LAN through Ethernet2 While VPN'ed using Ethernet1

Hey everyone, I'm trying to access a network share on my LAN through the second interface on my Mac. The first interface is being utilized by Cisco VPN to connect to my office.
I'm pretty familiar with routing tables from many years of Unix experience, but I can't seem to figure out how to specify that traffic going to 192.168.1.102 (my LAN network share) should go out of Ethernet 2 instead of Ethernet 1.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could do this?
Thanks in advance!

Aastoran,
Thanks for the quick reply. That is my understanding too, that our IT group has setup our Cisco VPN concentrator to tell the VPN client to setup it's IP routing to send all traffic through the VPN connection.
That is what seems to be what is being done if I dump my routing when I connect to the VPN (netstat -rn):

It seems to have inserted a new default route ahead of the one I have from my AirPort one (10.0.1.1).
The VPN network is 150.158.. on the utun0 connection.
My question is if there a way to change the routing to what it was before so that only traffic intended for the 150.158.. network goes through the utun0 network?
I have read some stuff on the internet that talks about this, tried some things, but haven't it got to work.
Since this kind of IP routing table stuff is controlled on the Mac itself, I don't see how the Cisco VPN router would be able to prevent me from doing this or am I missing something?
Do you or anyone have experience with setting up this IP routing stuff when you have multiple connections?

  • Cannot access local DFS shares while VPN is active

    Hi
We use Windows Server 2008 Standard as a domain controller. It also hosts DFS. Although the namespaces are hosted on the server, the data is stored on a Windows 2008 Storage Server. We do not use DFS replication.
I have several DFS shares mapped on my Windows 7 client, which has just replaced my XP client, and can access them without any problems.
However, as soon as I connect to a remote network (located on a different domain - it has nothing to do with our network at all), I am unable to access our DFS shares. If I try to access a DFS share an error message pops up stating:
    Location is not available
Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
The first time I connected the VPN a network dialog popped up asking what type of network it was and I chose Work. After connecting via the VPN I use remote desktop to carry out daily maintenance on a server on the remote network.
Other local resources are available. I can ping machines via IP, name and FQDN. I can access the same DFS shares using UNC paths. So, although I receive the error message described above when accessing AD-name.local-backslash-share-name1 I have no trouble
    accessing server-name-backslash-share-name1
As soon as I close the VPN connection normal functionality is restored and I can again access the DFS shares without any problems.
Can someone help me fix this, please? When this was setup on my XP machine I never experienced this problem.
Also, is there a way of typing LAN addresses without the forum software converting them to a customised hyperlink? Thanks!

    Thank you, fupin
Sabrina's suggestion to edit the pbk file worked. I changed the setting from 1 to 0 and connected to the remote network via the VPN and am still able to access the local DFS shares.
As per the OPs comments, the username and password I am using for the remote network are both different from the credentials I am using on the local network.
... take the steps in the KB 822707 to resolve it:
1). Locate the .pbk file that contains the entry that you dial. To do so, click Start, click Search, type *.pbk in the All or part of the file name box, and then
    click Search.
2). Open the file in Notepad.
3). Locate the following entry: UseRasCredentials=1
4). Modify the entry to the following: UseRasCredentials=0
5). On the File menu, click Save, and the click Exit.
    Cheers!

  • Connecting two remote LANs through a VPN connection

    1)
    I am trying to interconnect
two LANs as you see below.
    2)
The scenario is to interconnecting two LANs with a
single domain “domain.local” in order to have
two domain controllers backing up each other. We already have a Domain Controller “SRVDC1.domain.local” in our local network “LAN1” and another Server which is going to be as both our
secondary domain controller and VPN Server “SRVDC3.domain.local” in our remote network “LAN2” where is the
Netelligent Network. I am trying to make these two servers (our two LANs)
visible to each other by a MikroTik Cloud Router Switch solution.
    3)
    I am using a
MikroTik Router as a PPTP Client to VPN to our
    Remote Server SRVDC3 (87.75.45.66/29).
    4)
    All the computers in
LAN1, including Server SRVDC1, have a gateway set on “192.168.10.1” which is a
Asus WiFi Router as a core switch which is connected to our Fiber Optic Translator. <o:p></o:p>
    5)
To prevent and minimize any down-time risk during the configuration, I have isolated one computer “table2pc5.domain.local” as sample of the
whole network; by changing its gateway set to 192.168.10.6 (the
    Ether3-Slave-Lacal-interface on the MikroTikRouter).
I am going to replace the “Asus WiFi Router” shown in the map, by the
MikroTik Router later, after making sure that everything would work properly, so, everything is going to be naturalized after.
    6)
    My
solution simply can be explained as below:
    a.
    Providing
another interface in addition to “Netelligent Network” adapter.
    b.
    To
assign a LAN-based IP (in network range 192.168.10.0/24) to the added adapter (Microsoft Virtual Adapter)
    c.
    Configuring
SRVDC3 in Netelligent network “LAN2” as
a Remote Access Server (VPN Server).
    d.
    To provide a
MikroTik Router/Firewall on the Edge of the
    LAN1 as VPN Client.
    e.
    Configure
MikroTik Router VPN PPTP connection to
    SRVDC3 via the Internet.
    f.
    To have
two LANs connected through a permanent VPN connection.
    7)
IP Addresses for the three EDGE-Devices (SRVDC1
    ßàMikroTik
    Router ßàSRVDC3)
    are as below:
    a.
    SRVDC1:

The node “table7pc2.domain.local” is not able to see<o:p></o:p>
Now, I would ask you to help me to realise this solution by helping me to find the Bad-Routing problem, and letting me know how to fix it.
What NAT / Rout Paths or any configuration do I need to make this two LANs visible and recognizable to each other?
I would introduce you critical nodes which play important roles in this configuration. I have tried to colour-mark them in order to have a better recognition once you take a look at the “Ping Result” table.
The “Ping Result” table would give you an idea which nodes are able to see which others and where does problem hide itself?

I got my own answer :D
    1) I have to right-click on my "Routing and Remote Access" Server.
    2) on IPv4 tab, I should define a static IP Pool. I had it done before; but since that I had chosen a wide range as 192.168.11.0/24, every time the router was taking a different IP address; so I should define a very small pool with two 2
nodes as 192.168.11.1 and 192.168.11.2. In this way, I'll have the local address (router) as 192.168.11.2 and the remote address (my remote server) as 192.168.11.1
    3) After establishment of the PPTP connection successfully, I should add an static route to the "Netelligent Network" adapter. I had it done but in the RRAS routes, so that's why it didn't work. so:
    C:\SRVDC3>_ route -p add 192.168.10.0 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.11.2
    [Enter]
Now, I would be able to ping all of the computers whose their gateways are set on 192.168.10 (router)
and If I wand to see all of the computers  at the first LAN, I have to put my router at the edge of the network, instead of the ASUS WiFi Router, then change it's IP address to 192.168.10.1 or alternatively set all of the computers gateways on 192.168.10.6.

  • EvaluatingTteststand 4.2.1: Null pointer access violation (error 17502) when attempting to use a mixed-mode std::map / boost shared_ptr class contained in a DLL through an interface from a different DLL

    Hi there.
I have been working on a test system which will potentially have TestStand at its core, and downloaded/installed the 4.2.1 evaluation. Current details from the information dialog are:
    TestStand Engine version 4.2.1 (4.2.1.83)
    Sequence Editor Verison 4.2.1.83
The system will drive mobile radio devices using RS232 serial interfaces, usnig a variety of serial protocols (Hayes, and a couple of proprietary binary protocols for other work).
We already have in existence a soak tester, written in VS2005 with MFC unmanaged DLLs and also managed DLLs, which are mixed up together to provide different aspects of the functionality required for the binary protocols.
    I have created:
    1. a "master wrapper" DLL for the constellation of other DLLs - this offers up a simple C-API interface which I hope TestStand will use. It's called "SerialSessionMgr.dll""
    2. a mixed managed / unmanaged "IJW" (it just works) DLL which wraps up the binary logging protocol control interfaces, which are entirely in managed C++/CLI: the "master wrapper" DLL calls into this through an unmanaged interface to create instances of the CLI-compiled class which interfaces to the underlying managed DLLs imlpementing the logging protocol. This is called "WinTseInterface.dll".
Before I started evaluating TestStand, I knocked up a test harness using CPPUnit / MFC, with which I was able to test SerialSessionMgr.dll and its' use of WinTseInterface.dll and verify they worked. The harness loads the DLL dynamically at run-time using AfxLoadLibrary() to try to emulate the way TestStand uses it.
    When we open a
    TSE session:
The SerialSessionManager makes a call to the
WinTseInterface.dll to "create" a logging instance. The instance is
created in a std::map which is held by the CWinApp derived class, this map
contains boost::shared_ptr of the class which works with a managed class. So we
    have a call trace: Client
    app->SerialSessionManager{TseStartSession()}->WinTseInterface{WINTSE_GetWinTseBridge()} - WINTSE_GetWinTseBridge()
just creates a new instance of the unmanaged class which interfaces through to
the managed CLI/C++ class beneath, and returns the address to the
    SerialSessionManager, which stores it.
The SerialSessioManager actually initialises the WinTseBridge using a method of a C++ pure virtual interface class to the class in the std::map in the WinTseInterface DLL
implements. The initialise call passes miscellaneous details and actually calls
"gcnew" to create the managed class which interfaces to the
underlying managed DLLs which implement the logging protocol.
My logs of the DLL loading as seen in VS2005 debug output are attached this message as PDFs
While trying to fix this, I have tried:
Enhancing the WinTseInterface DLL so it manually loads all the other assemblies in the logging system, including the managed portion of WinTseInterface itself (no effect)
All the different options for the way the C DLL adapter loads and unloads the DLL in the DLL adapter steptype in TestStand
I've even tried calling directly into the WinTseInterface DLL before trying any SerialSessionManager DLL calls to try to load the WinTseInterface DLL completely beforehand
and I cannot stop this exception.
It seems like the object is created in the WinTseInterface DLL OK (I have debugged the creation step which runs for WINTSE_GetWinTseBridge() and the object is created OK) when the SerialSessionManager makes the call, but when it calls the first managed function, which creates the managed object, the DLL is reloaded as managed - I suspect this causes the object to be destroyed or overwritten, and thus the call to initialise bombs with null pointer violation.
Have I done something obviously wrong, and what other approaches can I take?
Does TestStand 4.2.1 have issues with driving DLLs which use managed/unmanaged DLLs beneath them?
My nuclear option is to throw the WinTseInterface DLL out completely and wrap up the managed C++ CLI code in a new interface, entirely managed, and use the TestStand ".Net" adaptor to drive that, creating my step library to run to that directly. This isn't ideal as I have some co-ordination of the protocols which is implemented in the SerialSessionMgr DLL.
I hope someone can help. This one's low level, dirty and a stumper to me.
Many thanks to the NI community. This is my first posting!

    Hi there Ray.
First - many thanks for engaging with this thorny problem. Love the avatar BTW.
I've been using the C/C++ DLL adapter: the original premise of the Serial Session Manager DLL was to provide a simple C type functional interface, using simple data types, so that TestStand would be able to drive the underlying functionality easily through a single DLL.
Seeing as you've been kind enough to respond, I should explain the makeup of the DLLs a little more, I think.
The SerialSessionManager (SSMgr) DLL uses C++ and MFC internally. This is the DLL which TestStand calls into directly through the C/C++ adapter. This DLL does have one odd feature though - because the it uses the Windows Multimedia Timer (implemented in WinMM.dll) I had to artificially create a scenario where it would load the .Net mscoree DLL _before_ it loads WinMM.dll - (http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/329819/freelibrary-in-the-winmm-dlls-modu...), basically WinMM.dll's init code gets rather upset when .Net DLLs load, which causes the entire executable to be unloaded with subsequent crashes.
To work around this crash, the SSMgr has a single, completely empty, file which is compiled for CLR, effectively forcing a dependency into the DLL on the .Net subsystems and turning the DLL into a "IJW" binary. The resulting DLL doesn't actually have any executable managed .Net assemblies, but I'm guessing that it does contain enough .Net related stubs and information that when the DLL is loaded, mscoree.dll loads before WinMM.dll - and this means the system doesn't crash.
Now, on to the WinTseInterface DLL. My initial description of this little software system was done in something of a hurry.
This DLL is the C++/CLI "IJW" DLL which actually contains managed and unmanaged code. Underneath the WinTseInterface DLL is another system of (this time exclusively C++/CLI) DLL assemblies which implement the TSE protocol interpretation system.
When the SSMgr DLL needs to start a TSE protocol session, it calls a C-API function in the WinTseInterface which creates a new CWinTseBridge class. Here's the steps in a little more detail:
SSMgr DLL calls WINTSE_GetWinTseBridge(), passing in the name of the device which needs it (this is used to put the new WinTseBridge into a std::map in the WinTseInterface DLL) - this call runs just fine, and returns the address of the CWinTseBridge C++ object. This is stored in the SSMgr, because the CWinTseBridge class implements a pure virtual interface which is used by the SSMgr as a way of accessing the CWinTseBridge methods.
We now use the address from (1) to make a call to CWinTseBridge::Initialise(), passing some basic configuration details.
I've run VS2005 debug on the Sequence Editor when running the test, and done F11 step-throughs of the code loading each parameter in the Initialise() call onto the stack, and what appears to happen is that when the call is made, the whole lot steps off into oblivion (a reference to 0x00000000 is made, I think).
Do you think it's worth trying to get this approach to work? It would be useful to retain the control surface in the top of the SSMgr as there is co-ordination of the protocols within the logic of that component. If I move the Wintse control out into a separate managed DLL I may not have that co-ordination (this might be overcome with some design, as I've confirmed that it is possible to "reach into" the WinTseInterface DLL with TestStand and create and use managed objects from assemblies contained within).
Are there any known issues with this version of TestStand using C/C++ CLI IJW DLLs? I haven't found much out there on the web.

  • Error while accessing data from MS Access DB through Window AD architec

    Dear Members,
Iam having a BO 3.0 installation on a standalone PC with the basic tomcat and mysql setup... As a test environment, Now while designing universes i can easily connect to Oracle EBS structure also SQL server DB ... the problem is when iam linking to a MS Access DB through a network drive (its all ok in the designer) but while in Webi while runnning the query, it throws an error of (WIS 10901 .... database error DSN not specified)
I have configured ODBC properly also given appropriate rights for the users and strangely the same universe is running well with my thick client desktop and webi rich client
(so iam sure its not a odbc issue)
Looking forward for any comments on this problem

possibly the account running the webi report server doesn't have access to the drive. Is it local system? Try using the same account you are logged into the webi rich client as, but you will most likely need to grant that account local admin on the server so it can run the service.

    Okay, I figured this out.
A podcast in iTunes was not downloading.
Apparently, ios5 will only download one thing at a time and so it sets up a queue that must include all and any downloads: apps, songs, podcast, all of it. So, a tip to anyone with this problem look through all apps that have a queue of downloading items and clear them till you can get your system running again.

Sorry, but it is not possible to restrict use of specific apps other that the few restrictions provided in the Restrictions settings, not unless the app itself provides some sort of lock. If you don't want your child playing certain games, the only answer is to not load them on the iPad he uses.
