Accessing Large object Using DB_LINK

Hi,
Can we access large objects like CLOB and BLOB using db_link in oracle 10g? I know that it is not possible in oracle 9i and lower version.

  • Accessing imaq objects using pointers

    I defined a CWIMAQ control object in my application's view class using the visual C++ Resource View dialog builder utility. I also defined a generic class to acquire and process the images from the 1428 frame grabber card. When I create the generic class object in the application's view, I pass a pointer to the view to the generic class's constructor.
    When the generic class tries to acquire an image using the CWIMAQ object defined in the view using the View pointer I get a windows error.
    //MFC view class
    CMyView:nInitDialog(....)
    m_processImage=new CProcessImage(this);
    //generic class
    CProcessImage::CProcessImage(CMyView* view)
    m_viewPtr=view;
    CProessImage::CProcessImage()
    m_viewPtr ->
    m_cImaqObject.AcquireImage(); //this fails
    If I put the AcquireImage function call inside the view it doesn't fail. But then when I try to get my images from the buffer from my genric processing class I get the same error. So I really need to figure out how to access the CCWIMAQ object from other classes. How can I call the AcquireImage function from my worker class?
    Thanks for your help

    The error message you are getting is the result of a breakpoint being hit. If you run in the debugger, you will see where the breakpoint is in your code. I suspect that you are hitting a breakpoint as the result of hitting an assert in the MFC source code.
    Without running this myself, I can only speculate as to the cause. From what you describe, one thing I would look to is whether the view HWND is being created before you attempt to access the control in the failure case. You are hosting the ActiveX control on the view window (even though it doesn't draw). Consequently, the control still needs an HWND (I believe). If the view window has not been constructed, the control cannot be properly hosted. MFC might detect this and assert, causing th
    e breakpoint that you are seeing. One way to try this out would be to delay calling into the ActiveX control until you are certain that the view window has been constructed.
    Also, I'm having some trouble figuring out what you're showing with the example code you posted. Your code shows 2 constructors, one of which takes the view pointer and one of which doesn't and instead calls m_viewPtr->m_cImaqObject.AcquireImage(); If this latter constructor is the one that fails, how are you initiailizing the m_viewPtr? Another point of confusion for me is that your code shows CMyView:nInitDialog, but CFormView doesn't have an OnInitDialog - do you mean OnInitialUpdate or something else?
    If none of this helps, could you post a .zip file with a stripped-down version of your project that demonstrates the problem?

  • Java.io.EOFException while returning a large object using RMI

    Hello
    I am having an issue with RMI which seems to be quite common (given the given the amount of matches in Google) but for which I can find a way out.
    In my application there 2 RMI objects , say OBJECT1 and OBJECT2. For OBJECT1 to get stuff from the database it gives a call to OBJECT2, which in turn fetches it from the DB and provides it back to OBJECT1.
    It is in such a call from OBJECT1 that i get the following exception.
    Caused by: java.rmi.UnmarshalException: error unmarshalling return; nested exception is:
    java.io.EOFException

    The rows retrieved from the DB are stored in a user-defined array (serializable incl. all the subcomponents except for the primitive data fields) and the same is return back from OBJECT2.
    Interesting thing is that this exception occurs only when the number of rows retrieved by OBJECT2 is exceeds a certain limit, i.e. when the no. of rows are less the application works perfectly.
    Tried the following based on what was mentioned in different posts: Added following parameters to the JVM startup call.
    -Dsun.rmi.server.exceptionTrace=true - did not get any pointers
    -Dsun.rmi.log.debug=true
    -Dsun.rmi.transport.connectionTimeout=600000 - cause the time for the DB query was above the default time of 15 sec
    I am using Sun j2sdk1.4.2_13 for the application.
    Any pointers to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    The issue is solved by increasing the VM max. memory parameters!if you want to avoid issues like this in the future, check out RMIIO. it provides an api for a "streaming remote iterator" over rmi, so you wouldn't have too read all this data into memory at once (causing memory exhaustion issues).

    Hi Dan,
    It is a very rare occurrence when I miss not being able to access an object (object property, really) using the ["name"] notation for objects created using actionscript.
    In MXML the compiler is conveniently adding an attribute to the class with the same name as the id, so you can conveniently refer to it using the [] notation. While we explicitly specify an application container to use, the MXML compiler creates a custom container which is a derivative of the base container and to that it adds properties for the children declared in MXML. I guess it also effectively calls "addElement" for us when  the container is being constructed.
    Your example assumes that using "addElement" to add the button to the application container is the same as declaring a variable (ie property ). It isn't, so there's no point in looking for an property of the name "as3Button" using the [] notation, because it doesn't exist. The container is managing a collection of children in it's display list and that's not the same as being accessible as properties of the container.
    Generally speaking, accessing properties using the ["name"] syntax isn't necessary.
    Paul
    [edit: you may wonder why "addElement" doesn't conveniently also add the "id" attribute to be an property of the container class. Unfortunately, it can't because the container class would need to be dynamic and it's not. A further complication would be that adding properties at runtime would invite naming clashes at runtime with associated mayhem. MXML can do this because the compiler generates the class and can trap name duplication at compile time.
    Great question, BTW.
    -last edit changed my "attributes" to be "properties" in line with Adobe's terminology]

  • Error : Access not possible using "null" objects reference

    Hello.
    i am working with a zbapi.
    i called a external email program in this bapi,everything is working fine over here.
    In webdynpro java they mapped my bapi and starting working from there.
    every functionality is working fine but regarding this email stuff it is showing an error as access not possible using null objects reference.
    where could be the possible error.
    is it in webdynpro or in abap side.

    Raghu,
    You are right. When it comes from the WD Java, may be you are not passing any value at all. You can trace it by these ways.
    1. Check it using SE37, make sure everyhting is fine.
    2. Print all the values that you are passing to the RFC in the execute RFC method().
    3. using ST05 transaction in R/3, enable RFC and SQL trace, check what is passing in between web dynpro and R/3.
    Moreover paste your error message here.
    Thanks,
    Raj.

  • How to access the remote Objects Without Db_links?

    Hi ,
    I want to know how to access the remote objects without db_link.That is i want to access a object in some other server which has different database.

    SanjayBala, just so you know that it is possible to create a database link in Oracle to non-Oracle databases in some circumstances. Look up Generic Connectivity aslo know as Heterogenous Services. With 11g Oracle has basically renamed the feature and replaced it with somethinkg named ike DG4ODBC.
    I have not spent time studying the details for DB4ODBC but with HS Oracle provided the interface and you had to obtain the necessary ODBC driver on your own. I had Oracle on AIX reading and writing to SQL Server on Windows but the developers chose to write a java program and connect to both via it. On Windows and Linux platforms the necessary ODBC drivers might be available without the requirement to go out and purchase one.
    The Oracle Open Gateway product is an advanced version of the above features with drivers for specific non-Oracle databases included like DB2 or Informix.

    A little more detail...
    Deployment is to iAS 10g (9.0.4)
    App written with jdev 9.0.5.2
    Code where problem occurs:
    public String[] getReplenishments() throws Exception {
    String[] replenishmentLists = new String[2];
    boolean firstTime = true;
    try {
    if (w2msAM == null) {
    w2msAM = Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(amDef, config);
    ViewObject vo = w2msAM.findViewObject("VReplenishmentView");
    vo.setWhereClause("1=1");
    vo.executeQuery();
    logger.debug("VReplenishmentView returned " + vo.getRowCount() +
    " rows");
    StringBuffer rlDisplay = new StringBuffer();
    StringBuffer rlFile = new StringBuffer();
    while (vo.hasNext()) {
    if (!firstTime) {
    rlFile.append("\n");
    rlDisplay.append(",");
    firstTime = false;
    VReplenishmentViewRowImpl row = (VReplenishmentViewRowImpl) vo.next();
    rlFile.append(row.getItemnumber());
    rlDisplay.append(" " +
    (StringHelper.padRight(row.getItemnumber(), 14) +
    StringHelper.padRight(row.getBin(), 11) +
    StringHelper.padLeft(String.valueOf(
    row.getQtyonhand().longValue()).toString(), 4)));
    if (rlFile != null) {
    replenishmentLists[0] = rlFile.toString();
    rlFile = null;
    replenishmentLists[1] = rlDisplay.toString();
    rlDisplay = null;
    } else {
    replenishmentLists[0] = "";
    replenishmentLists[1] = "";
    vo.closeRowSet();
    vo.setWhereClause("1=1");
    return replenishmentLists;
    } catch (Exception e) {
    logger.error("getReplenishments:" + e.toString());
    e.printStackTrace();
    throw e;
    Thanks for any help...

  • JPA2 - downloading large objects from database

    Hi,
    I would like to enable user to download large (up to 20Mb) files, stored in Oracle database.
    I think I should use a stream, but I don't know how to get JPA to return a stream of Large Object. Can you help?
    I'm using EclipseLink.

    Hello,
    http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/JPA/Pagination#Using_a_ScrollableCursor describes using a scrollable cursor to return entities. Since this is going through JPA (you didn't mention what api you are using to access EclipseLink) you will want to be careful to manage/clear your cache appropriately so it does not use all your available memory. You will probably want to make this query read-only, and clear the cache after a few iterations using em.clear().
    http://wiki.eclipse.org/Introduction_to_EclipseLink_Queries_(ELUG)#Stream_and_Cursor_Query_Results describes and has links to using streams and cursors with the native EclipseLink read queries.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

  • How to access an object in a bean

    I am looking for a way to access an object in a bean and make available to the page.
    for example if i have a Bean called User and it contains an attribute Called Company as an attribute in User. Now I have User.getCompany(). and I can do this
    <%User user = request.getUser();
    Company company = user.getCompany();
    request.setAttribute("comp", company); %>
    how do I do this with useBean ?

    this

    request.setAttribute("comp", company); %>
    how do I do this with useBean ?You can access a JavaBean Object property of another JavaBean inside the JSP with the use of EL (Expression Language)
    So if you are using JSP 2.0 or higher try this:
    <jsp:useBean id="user" class="your.package.User" scope="request"/>
    ${user.company.id}I tested the above and it works.
    Note that you need to set the Company object in the User object before trying to access it inside the JSP.
    You can also set it in the JSP if you want, (before trying to access it), but its cleaner to do it in a Servlet.
    Both User and Company must follow JavaBeans notation.
    So in the above case the User object is something like this:
    package your.package;
    public class User{
       private Customer customer;
       public User(){}
       public Customer getCustomer(){
          return customer;
       public void setCustomer(Customer customer){
         this.customer = customer;
    }And your Customer JavaBean is something like this:
    package your.package;
    public class Customer{
       private int id;
       public Customer(){}
       public int getId(){
         return this.id;
       public void setId(int id){
         this.id = id;
    }
