Accessing .me account with gmail

Our company has a corporate gmail account.  I'd like to be able to access my .me account though the gmail web page.  Gmail only appears to support POP3 accounts.  Is it possibel to set up the gmail to fetch my .me emails?
I went in to gmail settings and tried adding an account using my user name as what precedes "@me.com" in your MobileMe Mail address, entered my MobileMe Mail Me.com POP password, selected the POP port as 995 and checked "Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail".  When I do this I get an error message saying, "There was a problem connecting to mail.me.com. Server returned error: "Connection timed out: There may be a problem with the settings you added. Please contact your other email provider to verify the correct server name and port."
Any ideas would be appreciated.

.me is imap and I doubt it can be set to pop access.  You can go to the iCloud.com website and forward your .me account to a gmail address.

  • TS3276 Mail rejected password to one of my 3 accounts with Gmail, all old.  Successfully entered the account from Google mail interface.  What's wrong?

I have had Mail for years.  Have new MacBook Pro, set my old 3 accounts with Gmail, used them successfully. Yesterday, Mail rejected password to one of my accounts and does not accept it repeatedly.  I entered this account from Gmail page, no problem, so my password is correct.  Went back to Mail, this particular account is rejected.  Checked all Mail preferences, all are the same as initially set.  What is wrong?

In both cases, the default address is right.  However, upon receiving the email, it says the wrong address.  Thus, when people reply to my emails, I do not get it in my apple email, I have to sign in under the other (wrong) email address.

  • New IMAP Accounts With GMail

I'm trying to set up an new account with GMail so that I can get some mail from a domain I own there. While I can log in, receive and send from the web, nothing I try enables me to do this via Apple Mail. Thing is I already have it working from anther domain right there next to the one I'm trying to set up. Both setups appear identical in Mail, what am I doing wrong? Any ideas?

I also get an error when trying to take the account online:
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account “Gmail 2” or try again.
The server error encountered was: Web login required (Failure)
Anyone any idea what that means?

  • Locked out with file vault. Did fix by setting up new user account but cannot access old account with files                           but I can't get back into my old account with all my doc's and pics

I was locked out by File Vault. I set up a new account by fooling the notebook it was a new start up. Now I cannot access my old account with all of my files. I can see it in Accounts but it will not let me access. Help

I managed to get a few Time Machine Back Ups  before I passed away
I'm not sure whether a ghost can do this, but if you were still alive, you could do as follows.
First make sure you have read & write access to the folder you're trying to restore to. You should be able to see its contents in the Finder, and to move files in and out of it.
This is an exception to the rule that you should never make any changes to backup data. I've tested this procedure in OS X 10.8 only. It should work with later versions, but I don't know whether it works in earlier versions. Use it only for files that were backed up from your home folder, or a folder on another volume created by you, and would normally be writable by you. Do not touch backups of system or application files.
In the Finder (not in the time-travel view), navigate to the backup volume, then to the folder named "Backups.backupdb", and then to the snapshot you want to restore from. The snapshots are folders labeled with the date when they were created. Inside each of those folders is a file hierarchy like the one on the volume that was backed up. Descend through the hierarchy until you come to a folder named "Users," and inside that, a folder with your user name. The procedure will be different if you're trying to restore files on another volume.
Select the folder and open the Info dialog (command-I). Click the padlock icon in the lower right corner of the window and authenticate. In the Sharing & Permissions section, give your account Read & Write access. You may have to close the dialog and repeat this step in order for the change to show up. Then click the gear icon and select
              Apply to Enclosed Items
    from the popup menu.
Try the restore operation again, in the time-travel interface.

  • Using multiple MAIL accounts with GMail. When I compose a message from one account it shows "FROM" as one of my other accounts. How can I resolve this?  Thanks!

MAIL Preferences / Composing / Addressing / Send new messages from account of selected mailbox = SHOWING as the option to use.
This is only happening in one of my four email accounts...
    Thanks for your help!

As Ernie said, you need to create an SMTP server for each gmail account with the correct username and password. Be sure the correct server for each account is listed in the SMTP box and check the box to use only that server for that account.
Gmail's default behavior when sending from one account through another account's outgoing server is to change the address to the server which is used. Same goes if I send a message from my ATT/Yahoo account and use gmail's server to send through. It will change the ATT address to the gmail address.
There is an option in gmail's settings under the Account's tab under Send Mail As. You can add different gmail or other accounts such as Yahoo to this and choose how the gmail server handles it. You can set it to send as the sending account and not change the address. I've used this many times for my ATT account for sending through gmail when ATT accounts were having problems.
You can add the different accounts to each gmail account you have.

  • Tried accessing administrator account with wrong password

I forgot my administrator access password, tried with a wrong password to many times and now the computer can't access account.I understand this to be a safety mechanism. How can I get myself out of this? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

The above linked article is for the administrator to change other users' passwords from the administrator account. That won't help you when you have forgotten the administrator's password.
Here is how to change the administrators password. These instructions come from Mac Help, available from the Help menu in the Finder.
To reset the administrator password using the Mac OS X disc:
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc and restart the computer.
    2. When you hear the startup tone, hold down the C key until you see the spinning gear.
    3. When the Installer appears, choose Utilities > Reset Password.
    4. Follow the onscreen instructions to change the password.
    5. Quit the Installer and restart your computer while holding down the mouse button to eject the disc.

  • Cannot access itunes account with my Macbook pro

    Hello.
My macbook pro died recently and I had to reinstall the system. After reinstalling, I upgraded to mavericks. I lost iphoto and could not even access backup (time machine) disk. Anyway, I am able to access my itunes account through the Apps store or Ibooks.
However when I try to access my itunes account/authorise my computer I get the message "We could not complete your itunes request. The itunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
Funny because I could access itunes through my ipad and iphone.
Now, I could not sync my phone or ipad with my macbook without deleting their content! I could not even back them up through my macbook without deleting them.
I could not access my last time machine back up before my macbook died.
Any ideas what I could do?

  • My Yosemite POP account with Gmail and Apple Mail is gone

I just noticed in the last few days that my Apple Mail Gmail account has changed from POP to iMap without my intervention.  It no longer has the drop-down box to choose one or the other.  I want to keep my Apple Mail as a POP account, but I can no longer change it.  Is this possible?  If so, what do I do.  FYI, on my iOS devices I use iMap accounts for my gmail mail. Thanks!

You can try reconfiguring the account as POP. Delete the account, then add it back. After filling in the 1st screen, hold down the option/alt key while clicking Continue. Fill in the necessary information, then click continue until all screens are filled in.

    gerryfrom hatfield.

    Hello gerryfromhatfield,
There is a process, an article about how to find your apple id and get access to it. It is named Apple ID: Finding your Apple ID found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5625?viewlocale=en_US
You start at the top, and work your way down.
If you can't remember your Apple ID, you can find it by using the password retrieval process at My Apple ID. Follow these steps to recover your Apple ID name:
Go to My Apple ID and click "Find your Apple ID."
Complete all the required fields that might be associated with your Apple ID.
Note: If multiple email addresses have an Apple ID, select your current or most recently used email address.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • How do you access more than one email account with Mail

I have multiple email accounts, and have already set up my pop, and smtp servers. But I cannot figure out how to access/ login into the other account. I have had one account setup for a while now. I just setup another account, but can only access the original account. I've looked under 'preferences' I can see that the new account has been created, but how do I log in to it? Can someone please help?
    Thanx,
    Mike Dunn

    Hello Mike.
You can access multiple accounts and account types with the Mail.app with one exception.
You can access multiple accounts with Mail by the same provider (same account type and shares the same incoming mail server) and each account can have the same password as long as they are true accounts which means each email address or account has its own user name which is usually the portion of the email address in front of the @ sign only but with some providers it is the entire email address.
An additional email address or account by the same provider that shares the same user name and password as the primary account is really an alias account and cannot be accessed as a separate account with Mail.
An alias account or address to a primary account can be accessed with the primary account by adding the email address for the alias to the email address field separated by a comma under the Account Information tab for the primary account's preferences.
All messages addressed to the alias email address will be received and delivered to the Inbox mailbox for the primary account.

  • Is there a way to set up IMAP with Gmail & not have it import 3,000 emails?

I just set up my Iphone with the mail setting. I set up my Gmail with IMAP cause I heard that was new and better than POP. The problem I am having is that now that it is set up I have close to 3,000 emails in my inbox. Is there a way to have it import emails that arrive from a certain point on? or to delete all of those old emails at once? I am getting extremely frustrated with all of this email business. It seems so easy but no matter how I set it up it always seems to never work out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It is only better if you access the account with an email client on your computer as an IMAP account as well as being accessed as an IMAP account with the iPhone's email client which provides for keeping all server stored mailboxes synchronized automatically between both email clients used. In addition, you can store sent messages on the server with both email clients and when sending a message with the iPhone's email client, it will be available in the account's Sent mailbox when accessing the account with the email client on your computer and vice-versa which is not possible with a POP account.
I believe there is a setting via webmail access for your account for this.
If not and you are also accessing this account with an email client on your computer as an IMAP account, you can delete the messages from the account's Inbox there and when checking the account's Inbox mailbox with the iPhone's email client, it will be synchronized with the server automatically removing all messages automatically that were deleted with your computer's email client but these messages will no longer be available to you with either email client.
With your computer's email client for any messages that you want to save but you no longer want them available on the server, you can create an additional mailbox stored locally on your hard drive. Transferring messages from a server stored mailbox with an IMAP account to a mailbox stored locally on your hard drive stores the transferred messages on your hard drive and removes them from the server at the same time. Or you can create an additional server stored mailbox or mailboxes with the email client used on your computer or via webmail access for the account and transfer messages from the account's Inbox mailbox to the designated server stored mailbox that was created. This way the additional server stored mailbox and the messages within will be available when accessing the account with your iPhone automatically in case you need to access any of these messages when using your iPhone and you can transfer messages from the account's Inbox mailbox or Sent mailbox on your iPhone to the server stored mailbox created which will also be kept synchronized with the server when accessing the account with the email client used on your computer.

  • Can't sync Apple Mail with Gmail and Yahoo

Hi all, I really hope you can help. I have e-mail accounts with Gmail and Yahoo, and I'd really like to set either or both of these up in Apple Mail, primarily so that it will be really quick and easy to send people photos from my iPhoto library.
I've put in the correct info and I've enabled POP and IMAP in my Gmail settings, but when I try and set up it just says "checking connection to server [email protected]" for ages and doesn't acheive anything. When I did somehow manage to set it up briefly, I tried sending a message and it just dissapeared when I pressed send, didn't appear in my sent mail either in Gmail or in Apple Mail, and was not delivered.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm really frustrated that something that should be so simple could be such a pain - setting up e-mail on my iPhone took seconds and works perfectly! Thanks,
    Malinna

    Hi Malinna,
Did you follow Google's instruction on how to setup Mail.app and GMail?

  • Feature request - iSync with Gmail, other web-based emails

It would also be great if you could iSync the Mac's Address book with Gmail and other web-based email services.
I know I can export contacts and load them in to Gmail. But you have to remember to do this each time you change an email address in the Mac's address book.

I just got this email back from Plaxo. Apparantly Plaxo does not sync Address Book with GMail, yet. But they are planning to offer this feature in the future. Although he does not say whether this will be an automatic background synchronization.
    Hi Brian,
    Thank you for contacting Plaxo
You can go ahead and download the Plaxo toolbar for Mac using this link "http:www.plaxo.com/downloads" and install the Plaxo toolbar for your Mac and download your contacts from your Plaxo online to your Mac address book. However, as of now you will not be able to sync your Plaxo online account with Gmail account. Very soon we will have this as a Plaxo feature.
Please let me know if you have any further questions and concerns.
