Accessing my router/wireless linksys camera remotely

How can I view my linksys wireless camera from a remote location? I am using internet explorer but don't know how to access my router. I know the ip address to the camera but what is the command string I must use?

what you need to do is forward a port on your router.
by default the port that needs to be forwarded for the linksys camera is 1024.Since you know the IP of the camera, this is what you do.
access the router using http://192.168.1.1 , enter the password "admin".
Click on the tab "applications and gaming" then select the "port range forward" . enter the app as "what u want" the start port as "1024" end port "1024" select protocal as TCP and enter the IP of the camera.and enable. save settings
Now to access the camera froma remote location you will have to know your WAN IP address at all times. This IP address is on the "status page of the router" so at the remote location you need to type "http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1024
Or you can register with sololink.

  • Printer not being access through my wireless linksys

    Hi
I have a Power PC G3 in my basement. I have the internet going to that computer with a cable modem.
My cable modem is connected to a wireless router. My HP laserjet 5m is connected directly to that router. When I want to print something from my Mac , everything works fine.
I have a new PC Windos XP upstairs. I have an adaptor from linksys so I can have the internet upstairs. Everything works well upstairs (meaning I can access the internet by getting the signal from my router downstairs).
My problem is I want to be able to print from my PC windows XP (sorry) upstairs but I dont know how to tell my PC to acces that HP laser jet. I have a feeling I have to share printer downstairs and I have to add a printer from control panel upstairs, tell the computer which IP or I dont know, anyway, I need help from this point.
    Thanks

What router model/version and what type of internet connection do you have?  Cable or DSL?

  • LAN IP keeps changing on my wireless internet camera using Linksys E1200 router

Although it was working fine for about a month the LAN IP for my wireless internet camera now keeps changing almost on a daily basis for no apparent reason.   I am currently away from home and am unable to access the camera for live coverage until I determine and reset the IP.   Fortunately the camera is working and still sending emails on motion detection which includes a note with the IP which I then can use remotely access my local computer and then to the camera for live coverage but this is a time consuming method.    To be able to get access from my current location I then have to remotely log on to my home E1200 router and change the address in the port forwarding section of the routers setup program in order to use the new IP directly.
I know I could have avoided this problem by seting up the camera with a static IP but for some reason I had a problem doing so and due to time limitation I ended up accepting the dynamic IP assignment.
What could be causing the change and more importantly is there anything I can do to the router setup to minimize the problem?

There hasn't been a power failure at my house in over 3 weeks at least none that my UPS system has sensed but there have been many camera IP changes during that perioid .    Perhaps there has been some local power interuption to the camera or the router.   I wonder if a local power sag or surge might be sufficient for the camera to restart.   I guess further investigation will have to wait til I return and regardless of what I find I'll switch to a static IP for the futrue.

  • Cannot connect IBM Thinkpad to Linksys Router Wirelessly

I recently moved in with a friend, and my IBM Thinkpad T42, with Windows XP, cannot connect to her Linksys WRT120N router wirelessly. I am able to connect to the internet using an Ethernet cable, and I am able to connect to other public wireless networks.
I have been told by Cisco helpdesk people that it is because Windows XP does not support WPA2 security, and/or that because they don't know much about IBM computers, I should get rid of the third party internet connection software, IBM Access Connections, that came with my computer.
I have been having this problem for a week, and I did not even know I had IBM Access Connections until today, so I don't think that's the problem. Also, my friend has been using that application successfully on her computer, Thinkpad T61, Windows XP, to connect to this router, which she has been using for 2 years. So with two almost identical computers, does anybody know why my wireless connection isn't working?

Answer these questions, I may be able to give you the right solution to your issue:
    1. Go to your Network Connections folder on your wired computer and check which one is connected:
    a. Local Area Connection
    b. Broadband Connection
    c. 1394 Connection
    2. What is the IP address of your computer?
    3. Who is your internet service provider?
    4. What is the error message when you connect the wireless computer to the network?

  • My family owns an Apple Airport router, and my question is that is there a were to remotely access the router and turn it off and on? Thanks

My family owns an Apple Airport router, and my question is that is there a were to remotely access the router and turn it off and on? Thanks

Richard's suggestion will turn off and turn on the wireless function on your Mac computer......but.....it will not do anything as far as turning your Apple AirPort router on and off.......which seems to be the question that you are asking above.
If this is the question that you are asking, it is not possible to power the Apple router on and off from either a local or remote location.

  • Hi, I have a wireless linksys router model WRT54G. what i...

Hi, I have a wireless linksys router model WRT54G. what i want to do it´s configure a network in my home. I have 2 pc´s, a laptop an a desktop. what I should do to be able to share files, music, videos. between both computers? the laptop has Windows Vista, the desktop has Windows XP Professional. could you give me more details? step by step.   thank you really much.

its really simple to set up a network, first make sure that all computers are in the same workgroup by right clicking on my computer, then properities, then computer name.
there you can make the setting for the work group
do not use the default one, create your own, do this for each computer.
next thing is to choose any folder that you want to share and right click on it, select sharing, then check the two boxes to share this folder and the other one to allow others to make changes to this folder.
doing this bypasses the trouble od setting up passwords for right now.
you should not have the network up and running with folders being shared with all in that workgroup.
you may want to check the manual for vesta as it may do things a bit differant that xp
you could also run the create a network wizard in the xp system.

HELP I have a wireless Linksys router WRT54G connected through my cable company broadband modem on a Mac. I have another computer to which I installed wireless capability because it didn't come with it. This required attching some piece of equipment to the back of the PC which enabled it to get on the internet without another cable modem. My question is this. If I get an iphone or a laptop(with built in wireless ability) will I automatically be able to go on the web because of the router on the Mac.

yes certainly... if you get any wireless device in network that would certainly connects to a wireless n/w of router...

  • How can I set up Wi-Fi connection between my iPhone 4 & my wireless Linksys WRT54G router?

How can I set up Wi-Fi connection between this iPhone I bought and my wireless Linksys router (WRT54G) that I'm using for home netwrking for my PCs?
Tried settings on iPhone, selceted Wi-Fi connection, then pressed my network name shown on this iPhone, but nothing happens after that.

Do you not get the icon on the top bar of the iPhone?
Once you press on the network, the iPhone should connect to it. If the Network has a wep or WPA key it should be requested at that time.
Once the above has been completed, then the iPhone is connected. And you can use the wifi conneftion to browse the internet. It should also show a checkmark next to the network signifying it connected.
If its having trouble connecting or taking some time you should see the   next to the network spinning around.

I cannot get the linksys cam to work with Apple Time capsule.  I do have a linksys router (WRT160n) and tried to feed off the time capsule but no luck.  Does mac make a web cam?

I think you can call to mac support and open ports 80 and 1024 for the Camera.Assign the static ip address on the Camera in the range of your router. You can also, check this link.Hope it helps !!!

  • Linksys Router Wireless-G 2.4 GHz Broad Band router..Wont let it connect to the internet.

Okay so i got a router for my PSP and it connects good on the psp well. Its just that when its fully connected, The internet connection on the PC that the router is connected to, wont connect. Anyway i can fix this?
Message Edited by TheLastShadow on 01-27-200702:00 PM

hi...ideally , the PSP getting connected to the internet should not affect the desktop to lose the internet connection..
what u can do is ... access the router using http://192.168.1.1 .. keep the username blank and password as "admin" .. if u changed the password during the installation , u need to type that password ...
once on the ui...go to status tab and check the firmware version...
now, go to www.linksys.com/download and select the router model and version no. and check the latest firmware on it.. if the router is not having the latest firmware , upgrade it first..then reset the router and reconfigure it ...

  • Foscam wireless ip camera

I have a Foscam FI8918 wireless ip camera. I have a new airport extreme base station. The camera was previously set up on a linksys router and I had dyndns host a static ip so I could access the camera from the internet. Since installing the new Airpprt extreme I have been unable to set this camera up. Please give me instructions on how to do this exclusively with my iMac. I have the ip camera tool on my iMac and can see the camera when plugged into the Airport extreme via ethernet cable. I am, however, unable to see the camera via wifi after following the instructions. I did spend around 5hrs setting this camera up with a pc running windows xp and the linksys router. The airport utility and airport extreme are just a bit different and I am just learning how to use them. Any hel would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I am assuming that your wireless camera is accessible via a web browser on the local network.
Start the AirPort Utility > Select the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn).
    Select Manual Setup.
Verify that Connection Sharing = Share a public IP address is selected on the Internet > Internet Connection tab.
Select Advanced, and then, select the Port Mapping tab.
Click the plus sign to add a new port mapping.
For Service, leave the default; this will change to "Custom" once you start entering port values.
In the Public UDP Port(s) and Public TCP Port(s) boxes, type in a 4-digit port number (e.g., 8888) that you choose. In the Private IP Address box, type the internal IP address of your camera. In the Private UDP Port(s) and Private TCP Port(s) boxes, enter the appropriate port values that should have been provided to you by the camera manufacturer. Click Continue.
In the Description box, type a descriptive name like "Internet Camera Access," and then, click Done.
    Click on Update.
To connect to the shared Camera from a remote location using a Mac or PC:
    Start your favorite web browser.
Enter the dyndns-provided Domain Name, followed by a colon and the Public port number that you choose in step 7 of the previous procedure. For example: http://www.mydyndnsdomainname.com:8888
