Accessing network fileservers when connected to a ...

I have an E71 that I can connect successfully to a WLAN.
Is there any way of accessing network fileservers on the WLAN for file transfer?
For example: Can I mount network filesystems as local devices so they look like an extra memory card?

The battery indicator icon in the upper-right corner of the screen shows battery charging status and approximately how much charge is left in the battery. When plugged in to power, these icons will appear.
If the battery charge is very low, the device may display one of the following images indicating that the battery needs to charge for up to ten minutes before you can use it. If the battery is extremely low on power, the display may be blank for up to two minutes before one of the low-battery images appears.

I have a lot of books on my Kindle/Amazon account. I have downloaded the Kindle app onto my IPAD mini by can only access my books when connected to WIFI, how can I read them off-line?

Yes, you've missed the download step.
Open the Kindle app and navigate to your Library. There is a tab at the bottom that says Cloud | Device. Tap the Cloud tab and tap the books you want to download to the device. You will see a progress indicator during the download. Once it's done, read away!

  • Ea6300 causing network issues when connecting to web browser on my Mac

I have had my ea6300 for two months and its causing major issues when connecting to my web broweser before I throw it out the window can someone give me some help.

Hi bigtimer30, what do you mean by “it’s causing major issues when connecting to my web browser”? Do you mean that the MAC computer is no longer able to access the internet? If yes, is it with both wired and wireless connections? Is this happening to all of your devices? Or just that specific MAC computer? If all the other devices are still able to connect except the MAC, I suggest that you do a power cycle on the computer (if you haven’t done it yet). And you’re having difficulties with the wireless part, try to hard wire the computer straight to your router, and check if you experience the same thing. If the wired connection is okay, you may try playing with the router’s wireless channel. Better if you could give more details for us to give you more suggestions.

  • "could not access network location" when upgrading to iTunes 10

Hi, I really know nothing about computers, I'm sorry. I have tried to search for the answers myself but I don't understand much of the language and I'm not sure if I'm reading the appropriate information.
I wanted to update my iTunes on my computer (Windows XP) but it didn't seem to work when I looked for upgrades and clicked yes, I want to update. Nothing happened.
So I unistalled my old iTunes and tried to install the new iTunes 10. But when I did that, I got an error message, with the title of iTunes + QuickTime... saying... could not access network location.
I uninstalled Quicktime to see if that was the problem, and I tried to install iTunes 10 again and the same error message appeared "could not access network location".
From what I googled, it looked like I had to look at something in Run. I got to the specific location but didn't see any obvious errors. But then again, I really had no idea what I was looking at! What do I need to do?
    Please I need help (frustrated)!

I uninstalled Quicktime to see if that was the problem, and I tried to install iTunes 10 again and the same error message appeared "could not access network location".
Which location is being cited in the message, fyr? For example, is it %APPDATA% , or something else? (The location given in the message dictates how we go about trying to fix this ... I know of at least three different issues that can cause the 1606 error message on the install, and each requires a different treatment.)

  • Can't access my SPA2102 when connected to my BEFSR41 router

    Hi All,
I have a Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL router #BEFSR41 to which I have two computers, one printer, and one Linksys PAP2T-NA connected.  I purchased a SPA2102-NA because I need two additional phone lines, but I had no more router ports.  I was told that the SPA2102 could be connected to the router and my PAP2T could then connect to the LAN port of the SPA2102.  Well I tried connecting the SPA2102 to my router and then connecting my PAP2T to it, but I am not able to access the configuration/setup menu for the SPA2102.  How can I configure this SPA2102 when I can't even get to the setup menu?
Please help, I have spent the entire day searching the Linksys knowledgebase, etc. and I can't figure out what I need to do to access this unit.  By the way, when I go into the router configuration menu and list the DHCP Active IP Table, the first item is SipuraSPA with an IP address of 192.168.1.100 (my PAP2T is 192.168.1.104).  I have tried accessing the SPA2102 by typing 192.168.1.100 but I just get a browser error "Page not found".  So the SPA2102 is showing up as connected to my router, but I have no way to connect to it because it has been given a dynamic IP address by the router.  How can I solve this problem?
    TIA

Thanks HW for your reply.  After further consideration, I've decided that my best solution is to add an 8-port switch to increase my network capacity and therefore I can replace the SPA2102 with a simpler PAP2T, giving me two PAP2T's.  I'm afraid I was looking at the SPA2102 as a stop-gap measure in providing an additional LAN port, but that would leave me without any spare LAN ports for the future.  In the end, the small cost of an 8-port switch will give me future capacity and allow me to use the less costly PAP2T while gaining what I needed in the first place.  Sorry for taking up your time.
    Thanks.

  • WLAN access point "missing" when connection alread...

    Hello,
I have an E63 with version 400.21.013 firmware.  However, I have experienced this problem from day one.  I do not have a data plan but I use WLAN at various locations, and there is a list of access points in the Settings.
I have a home access point configured with WPA2 and I have all the settings saved in the Connection Manager (or is it WLAN Wizard - I don't know).  When the phone is not connected to any AP and I use a program that wants data, it will almost always show the "Home" AP in the list which appears right after "Searching for available access points" is briefly displayed.  "Home" shows up right below Search for WLAN.  There is no problem making the first connection.
However, if the "Home" AP is already in use and I open another program that wants data, at times it will not show my Home AP in the list.  If "Searching for available access points" is only displayed for a split second, "Home" will not be in the list.  Sometimes I can close the program and open it again and if "Searching for available access points" stays on screen for about a second, then "Home" will be on the list and I can connect.  Sometimes I will have to try 3, 4, 5 times, and sometimes it will never "see" the AP unless I disconnect the WLAN and start all over.
Right at this moment, there is no problem.  I can open program after program and connect via my "Home" AP. But it is frustrating when it does happen.  Has anyone seen this or found a remedy?
    Thanks.

Have you tried changing the WLAN channel (i.e. frequency) of your home WLAN access point / router?
Try switching between few different channels (like 1, 3, 6, 9, 11) to see if some channel happens to work more reliably. It is possible that there is some radio interference (neighbouring WLAN networks, cordless phones, Bluetooth devices etc.) on the currently used WLAN channel, causing phone to discover this network less reliably.
In case your WLAN access point / router includes 802.11n support, make sure that your AP's "channel width" is set to a standard 20MHz mode (instead 20/40MHz).
This is a bit long shot suggestion (just guessing), but if switching the WLAN channel related setting on the AP doesn't help then you could also try editing your phone's access point (the one created for you home WLAN network, under Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> Access Points) so that your phone should consider this particular WLAN network as an "Hidden SSID" (even if network really isn't hidden) by changing the "Network status" setting from Public to Hidden.

  • WD TV Media Player Constantly Accessing Network Even When "Off"

I have my WD TV Media Player attached to a wired network.  So far, I'm using it primarily to view YouTube videos, and really not much else.  I'm noticing from the lights on my router that this thing is constantly engaging in network activity, even after it has been turned "off" for hours -- it's constantly doing something on my network. To try to get to the root of what this thing is constantly accessing the network for, I've have turned off all varieties of network sharing (Windows, Mac and Linux), I've turned off auto-detecting WiFi (though I wouldn't expect that to have any effect on a wired network connection, but I turned it off, anyway), I've switched detecting a connection on the wired network from auto to manual, I've turned off the Media Library feature, and I've even turned off automatic checking for new firmware versions.  In short, I've turned off every last thing I could find to turn off that would be a reason for this contraption to go constantly looking on the network (or the Internet?) for something -- but it's still constantly generating network activity for some reason. I have a network connection that has an upper limit on the amount of data downloaded each month for the standard monthly fee -- if I go oever that amount of data downloaded, then I start getting charged extra. Could someone please tell me what this thing is doing with its constant network accessing, even when it's supposedly turned "off" using the remote?  Is this thing constantly trying to access the Internet to download something? Thanks in advance.

Hello, As part of trying to understand all of the network activity I'm seeing, I actually isolated this contraption on its own branch network separated from every other network device by a firewall configured so that the Internet is the only thing it has access to through the firewall. So, while DHCP and/or ARP may explain at least some of the activity I'm seeing, there are no DLNA devices anywhere for it to receive anything from or for it to transmit anything to.  Also, as I mentioned originally, I disabled all of the types of network sharing I could find in the configuration menus and I also disabled the Media Library feature -- so even if there was some other device on its isolated network branch that it could communicate with, it shouldn't actually be trying to do any of that. Additionally, I'm also trying out a Roku 2 (also on its own isolated network branch), and it's network activity is nothing like the WD TV Media Player -- and this is in spite of the fact that the Roku 2 has no way to ever be turned off -- there is literally no power button at all on the remote or on the Roku 2, itself. I do appologize for the heresy of bringing up a Roku box in this forum, but I think it's a valid question (and even important) to ask why the Roku 2 is able to be so quiet on a network while the WD TV Media Player is doing something on the network all of the time (and I do mean 24/7 -- it never stops unless I use the 5-second turn off procedure pointed to above by JoeySmyth).

  • Laptop shows "access: local only" when connected to this hotspot

I have the Verizon Jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MHS291L set up in my home environment.  I have a number of computers that are able to connect to it and use the internet.  There is one laptop that I have (Lenovo SL500) which is Vista SP2, that has trouble connecting to the Jetpack.  I went into the Connected Devices settings for the Jetpack and noticed that this particular laptop was in the Blocked Devices section.  I Unblocked the laptop and it then appeared in the Connected Devices section.  Not sure how it got into the Blocked Devices section in the first place.  Anyways, upon trying to connect to the wireless network, I looked at the wireless network connection and it shows "Access:  Local only" instead of "Acess: Local and Internet."  It seems like the laptop connects to wireless, but I cannot browse the internet in any browser.  Also, I have tried this laptop at someone else's house that has a standard wireless router (no hotspot) and the laptop connects fine and is able to browse the internet.

The network status indicator on Windows products cannot always be trusted.  Windows uses its own algorithm to determine its connectivity by checking a few resources on the web.  In a nutshell if Windows can make it to the resources then it declares itself internet connected or otherwise.  What you should do is your own troubleshooting to determine what is truly going on.
First step is to check your IP Address.  Windows will display a 169.254.xxx.xxx IP if it is not completely connected to the current router/jetpack.  If that is the case then your laptop has not been accepted onto the router and you should check your connection credentials or recreate your connection profile.
The next step if you have a normal and good IP address is to manually check the internet by browsing to a website.  Even though your computer cannot communicate the way it wants to that doesn't always mean that all internet communication is having a problem.  You should always try a simple browse to Google or another popular search engine or website when experiencing problems to confirm the scope of the situation.
Pending on how these first two simple checks go you should proceed one way or another.  Chances are there is a wireless profile conflict on your Vista machine for your Jetpack. The best course of action would be to wipe the wireless profile and start over from scratch.  I'd start here and work my way outwards.

  • Is it possible to hide Accessibility Voiceover Cursor when connecting to Bluetooth Remote Control in Keynote presentation on iPad?

Hi team, I would like to know
When I use my Satechi Bluetooth pointer (linked in Accessibility mode) with keynote on iPad there is a box around the items in my slides. Is there a way to remove this box?
like these comments on this video

I didn't get any of those boxes for 2 years but if I remember well it just started to appear after either upgrading to Ios8 or updated Keynote, can't recall exactly.
Any idea on how to solve this?

  • XP Mode Crashes When Accessing Network Shares

I am using Windows 7 Professional and have installed XP Mode to use a legacy accounting application.
In the Virtual Machines folder on the host under settings I have set the network adapter to Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.
Under XP Mode, I have set XP to be a member of the workgroup and I am logging on with a user who can access network. When I run XP Mode I can access the internet with Internet Explorer.
If I then go to "My Network Places" "View Workgroup Computers" I can see all the workgroup computers on the network. If I then double click on a computer name Windows Explorer shows me all the shared directories on that computer.
This is where the problem occurs. If I then click on a shared directory XP Mode instantly exits and restarts. (Windows 7 is unaffected.)
Does anyone have any idea's as how I can access all the shared directories to view the files stored on the network.

Miya Yao, Thank you for your reply.
Can other computer in the workgroup see the shared directory in Windows XP Mode? I don't know exactly what you mean by this. No other computers in the workgroup are running XP Mode. They are running native XP Professional. (It was my original idea to run
a physical XP laptop together with Windows 7 desktop to access the data files required, before I read about XP Mode.)
All workgroup computers can access network shares, if the user has appropriate permissions. I have shared the "Shared Documents" under XP Mode and this share can be accessed by all other computers on the network including the host. However, if I access this
share from the guest via "View Workgruop Computers" as in my first post, XP Mode instantly quits and restarts. For information the XP Mode user name and password is the same as the host user name and password.
I have checked the Event Viewer both before I first posted and again today. There are no entries recorded. However, I should have mentioned that upon restarting XP Mode I get "The system has recovered from a serious error" the details of which are:-
    BCCode : 10000050     BCP1 : FFFFFF8A     BCP2 : 00000001     BCP3 : F7F23661
    BCP4 : 00000000     OSVer : 5_1_2600     SP : 3_0     Product : 256_1
If I send the error report I am taken to thsi web page:-
    http://wer.microsoft.com/responses/Response.aspx/603/en-us/5.1.2600.2.00010100.3.0?SGD=316378af-10a1-428a-9016-074d398ed1a1
The page talks about testing RAM. RAM is fine. There is 8GB of physical RAM. It was tested with memtest86+ v2.10 and v4.20 separately. v4.20 was run for 12 hours plus with no errors detected. I have tried adjusting XP Mode RAM under settings but this makes
    no difference.
The issue happens when accessing all shared directories including empty ones.
I clean booted the computer and yes the issue still exists.
If I use dos to view a directory under XP Mode the problem exists, by typing
    \\SERVER\SHARE\FOLDERNAME .
By using the host I can map a shared directory. Then under XP Mode I can access the share from my computer. I have noticed by mapping S: to a Network Share that in Windows Explorer in XP Mode the path is
    \\tsclient\S\ .  Is this normal?
Under Windows 7 the same share appears as S:\ as I would expect.
However, I would prefer not to have to map and un-map different Network Shares to drive letters.
It should have been mentioned in my first post, host is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I don't know the build but it is full retail version (not upgrade) from when first released - prior to SP1. All updates have been applied including SP1.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Can't Browse Web when connected to VPN

    Hi,
I got interested in networks about a year ago.  We had some spare networking kit lying around in our office and I decided to set up a lab.
I've been able to configure NAT w/ PAT  on a cisco 3825.
I've got 1 access list, "Overloading" my OUTSIDE int, and a few "ip nat inside source static..." entries to handle my port forwards.
    It's a very basic setup.
The router died recently, so I got a cheap replacement form ebay.  Setting it all up was WAY easier than last time, so I decided to try something new.... VPN.
I'd previously had a port forward to a computer that was a VPN server, but I was able to use Cisco CCP to help me configure VPN.  Yes, technically cheating for all you CLI-heads out there, so sorry-- to make you happy, I did thoroughly inspect and spent extra time appreciating the code it wanted to inject to my router.
Now, I've got VPN working, and I can access all the PC's on the LAN I'm VPN'ing to, but -- I can't access the web when connected to VPN.
I've fiddled with the access list, trying to make it ANY/ANY.
I'm not really sure what to do.
I looked around and most of the stuff out there is for a site-to-site, or PAT running on a tunnel...
My issue is pretty basic, probably.  I just cant access outside when on VPN.
I'm more than willing to have another translation method.
    I've attached my router config.
Can you have a look and let me know what would need changing...
    Really appreciate any insight.
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Hello Brian,
Basically this is the VPN group:
crypto isakmp client configuration group open
     key (something)
     dns 192.168.1.1 8.8.8.8
     domain something.com
     pool SDM_POOL_1
     save-password
     backup-gateway 192.168.1.1
     max-users 5
     netmask 255.255.255.0
banner ^Cyou have connected to the vpn-ings!.  well done!    ^
I see that you are doing tunnel all, and you are not split tunneling on this configuration, what you can do is to use split tunnel, under this configuration as follow:
    ip access-list extended SPLIT_TUNNEL
permit ip XXXXX XXXXX 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
XXXXX --> are the inside subnets
    Then under this:
crypto isakmp client configuration group open
    acl SPLIT_TUNNEL
This will allow you to have access to the internal subnets through the tunnel and have access to internet through the internet connection on your computer.
For further details take a look to this document:
Don't use Any on your ACL statements for split tunneling purposes.
Let me know how it works out!
Please don't forget to rate and mark as correct the helpful Post!
    David Castro,

    Hello Everyone
My computer has installed Winserver 2008 R2. It have 2 card network.
    Lan network Card : 192.168.1.254/24
Internet network Card: get IP automatic
    My computer can access network
But when I installed TMG. My Inetrnet Card can't get IP automatic and I can't access network
I created access rule : Protocal :Allow outbound traffic, From: Internal, To: External
    but It is not success
    Help me

    Hi,
You need to modify a system rule for this to work.
    Open TMG management console
Go to Firewall Policy and on the tasks pane on the right hand side click "Edit System Policy".
Under Network Services, selet DHCP and on the From tab add the network External. Click OK and apply the policy. When the configuration has synced, renew the IP configuration for the external adapter.
Obvious risks with allowing this apply.
