Accessing on-line backup?

When I bought PSE9, I received 2GB of on-line backup that promptly filled.  Since then my
computer crashed and I need to retrieve the backed-up files from the internet.  I cannot find
directions on how to do so.  Can someone help?

Chuckm, I do see selections for full, incremental and other types of backups within the software.  But I agree with your overall assessment of the Online Backup/Share product.
The Digidata software is using the C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\DigiData\Vault Explorer\Online Storage folder and there is no documentation of how this local disk area is used in conjunction with the Online Share Drive.  Very strange indeed.
I'm also seeing posts about Outlook pst files and that Microsoft doesn't "allow" these files to be transported over the network.  This is preposterous.  I don't believe there's anything that's looking for "pst" and not allowing transfers because of that.  And if there was something, you can get around that by using Windows Backup to backup your pst files (or any files) into one big .bkf file and try transferring that.  Nothing would know what was in that backup file.
However, good luck on getting something that big to move to the Verizon Online Share Drive.  I've been trying and concur that this product is definitely not ready for prime time.  The product reminds me a lot of Verizon customer service - pitiful.

  • Created new user acct. deleted old user acct. can't access old TM backups

After changing the name on my home folder and deleting and creating a user account I can't access the old backups when I enter time machine.
After creating the new user acct TM did a full complete backup that I can access
Is this normal behavior or a problem?
All of the above was done working with AppleCare
Thanks for helping a Mac newbie.

Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Users
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V), and press return. A folder will open with the home folders of all users as subfolders. Enter Time Machine. You should now be able to see your old home folder in the snapshots that were taken before you renamed it.

  • How do I access old iCloud backups?

    Hi,
This forum interface is not exactly user intuitive, so I apologize beforehand if this question has been asked hundreds of times already.
I lost my iPhone 4 near the end last year, and purchased a new iPhone 4S to replace it. After using the new iPhone for a couple of months, I've started getting notifications that my iCLoud storage is full, and that I should purchase more storage. When I enter 'Manage Backups' for iCloud, I see that I have two backups - one recent backup that is 1.5GB large, and an old backup that is 3.1GB large. This larger backup was made before I lost my phone, and therefore this is great news - it means I might get back all my old photos and whatever else might be on there. Also, if I can get back those files I want, I can delete the old backup and won't have any problems with running out of storage for a while. Therefore, some questions arise:
    1. How do I actually access the old backup? I don't seem to be able to open it in the iCloud site, download it to my hard-drive, or open it with the iCloud utility for Windows. All I want to do is to see which files and materials from the old backup that I would want to salvage, and throw away the rest, but how do I do this? I do not want to overwrite my current phone settings or files, since I've been using the new phone for a few months now and have a lot of new settings, contacts, etc, that I do not want to overwrite. Mostly I'm interested in getting my photos back.
    2. If it is not possible to actually access the old backups, why is this? Is there a policy that anyone knows of from Apple? I can't imagine actually buying more storage space in the cloud, as my phone keeps suggesting, if I'm not even given access to the data I back up.
Thanks a lot, and again - sorry if I've restated a question that has already been resolved here.
(I'm running a Windows 7 computer if that's relevant, and the latest iOS on my iPhone 4S)
    Thanks,
    Henrik

  • How can I access a calendar backup from my old iPhone?

How can I access a calendar backup from my old iPhone?
I recently had to get a replacement iPhone 4. The tech at the Apple Store thought that I might have had a software problem and recommended that I not "restore from backup," but start this phone as a new device and just sync the apps and what-not. My calendar on my computer was different than the one on my old phone, though, and now I need the data from my old iPhone calendar. I did back up my old phone just prior to taking it to the Apple Store.
    HELP!

Well what you can do is update to ios5 then use icloud to sync your calandar up to your phone then restore your phone as new and when prompted in the new phone setup put in your icloud username and password and you will have your calandar events back.

Why don't you talk to apple and find out if backup exists? That conversation with apple will stop your guessing.

  • Clean install of Mavericks, now cannot access Time Machine backups

I just performed a clean install of Mavericks (10.9.1), but now I cannot access my previous backups under Mountain Lion (10.8.5). The new installation recognizes the TM disk just fine, and I can enter TM, but all of my old backups are blacked out. In Finder, I can easily explore the TM disk and see that all of my old backups are intact there. I've got a few large folders (100+ GB) I'd like to restore, but I can't seem to figure out how to get them back correctly. What am I missing?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer...

Things just got worse. After manually copying over some files via Finder, and then performing a full backup of the new system, even the NEW backup is blacked out; e.g., NO backups, past or present, are accessible from within Time Machine.

  • To access different lines in an in internal table

    Hi People,
How can I access different lines of an internal table where there is not set index which I have to access? I have to write only the last occurence of each kunnr getting stored in the internal table. Can somebody help?
    Thanks,
    AM

    Hi AM,
You have got multiple solutions, each one of those are based on some assumptions.
       1. At end - this solution will work if kunnr is the first field in your internal table (Sorted).
       2. Edde's solution will work if all the values for kunnr in the internal table are same.
If not of this applies then you need write a piece of logic between LOOP and ENDLOOP, but the right solution will depend on the exact nature of your problem. More you explain your problem better are the chances of getting a solution.

My iPhone5 was replaced today and when I did a restore I was only able to access a previous backup to the backup that I did yesterday? Hence, I do not have access to some apps such as ebooks and games. Can you help resolve this issue?

My girlfriend had a similar issue because her new device was not updated to IOS7 when she turned it on, but her backup point was created using IOS7.  Check to be sure the restore point was created and then factory reset the phone after you have updated to 7.

  • Unable to access time machine backup. The folder "Documents" can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents.

My MacBook Pro with 750GB storage refuses to startup due to a problem with logic board (unfortunately I'm in Singapore and there is no Apple store here and zero customer support).  I'm trying to access some of the files from the time machine back-up using my MacBook Air with 120GB storage, but I'm unable to open the backup.  I receive an error message "you don't have permission to see its contents". Unable to access time machine backup. The folder “Documents” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents.
I don't really want to migrate the data from the time machine to the MacBook Air as I simply don't have sufficient storage space on the MacBook Air.  The iPhoto library which I'm trying to access is 200GB, which is more than the size of the MacBookAir.
Is there any way I can view the photos and documents stored on the time machine backup.
    Thank you very much.

When you setup the Mac, you created a Admin user account with say name X
You ran Migration Assistant and it migrated user Y from the Windows machine.
User Y has different permissions than User X.
User X can't normally access User Y's account.
So what you do is log out of User X via the Apple menu and into User Y, this way you have permission to access the files.
If you want to transfer files from User Y to User X account
Transfer files between user accounts on the same machine instructions
Finder > Go menu > Computer
A window appears with your boot drive, double click on it to open
Inside is Users folder, double click to open it
Inside is your User accounts, double click on the one you want to send files too
Double click on the Public folder drop the files into the DropBox folder,
The permissions will change and can be used in the other user account when you log into it and moved to the appropriate folders.
Applications are typically installed and kept in the Applications folder which is a global access folder all users can access to run them from, but not all users can modify unless they are a Admin user.
Windows programs won't run on a Mac, but they can be instaled into a virtual machine program that is running Windows.

After re-setting Time Capsule, how do I access my previous backups?

    Access it to do what??
You can migrate the data.. see Pondini instructions for migrate. (or from apple).
His instructions are a little out of date.. but still more useful than the over generalised stuff Apple give you.

If you wanted to continue using the backup with TM.. no you cannot inherit a backup from a different machine.
To simply access the backup .. then open the sparsebundle from finder or TM..
See the instructions in Pondini.. Q15-17 here.

  • Can't access iPhoto 11 backup with Time Capsule/Michine since Lion upgrade

I just upgraded to Lion OS and now whenever I try to access my iPhoto backup, it only opens my desktop folder (pages and pages) instead of my iPhoto.  I've never had trouble before - and iPhoto is active when I click on the Time Machine icon.
    Help!!

Hi Bob.  How do I "close" time machine so I can restart it (once I restart my Mac).
Then, I can't find the "browse backups" from the file menu in the upper left corner?   What am I missing?
Thanks for helping me through this!
p.s.  Also, do you know if it's actually true that we can only restore the entire iPhoto collection instead of just certain events or photos?  That seems extreme if I can't ever just restore a set of pictures.   I know I saw that restriction for iPhoto 9 or something but 11?

  • Cannot access old TimeMachine backups

    Hi there,
I'm new to this forum, and have been using a MacBook Pro for several years so am comfortable with the OS but not an expert. Hence my question that I am about to post to this forum in the hope that someone can steer me in the right direction please.
My wife and I both use MBPs; 7 months ago we bought a NAS and started using TimeMachine for the first time. The backups have been running all this time, and we have both been able to access our own backups without any issues at all. Recently my wife's machine crashed and it needed to be repaired, this included formatting the C: to remove all the old junk that was on there and allow her to start with a fresh new OS install.
I wasn't worried about recovering her data because we had TM running and was hoping to recover certain files from there. I tried to use the Option Key and click on 'Browse other backup disks' and it shows her old backup on our NAS, however when I select it then it takes me straight to the current drive of the computer I'm on (in the Star Wars view) - not the backup as expected. I have tried this from her MBP and also from mine with the same results - it always seem to go to Star Wars for the current machine.
I'm wondering if the problem was that both of the Time Machines MBPs used the same NAS user account to access the NAS folder to make the backups? Should I have used different user accounts?
Basically, I have her sparsebundle file on my NAS and I really need to access it however I cannot find a way. Can you please help me with this? Hours of Googling has revealed that everyone else used the Option Key 'Browse other backup disks' method however as I have described that doesn't seem to be working for me.
We are both on Mavericks (since we started with Time Machine) and have not upgraded to Yosemite yet (if that is any useful info).
I would be really grateful if you could offer some help with this please.
    Cheers,
    Adrian.

you craft a question as if an old hand... I have asked our Gracious Hosts to move your question - likely to MBPro, but possibly Mavericks or TimeMachine.
A good trick to get the question posted in the right place is to navigate to the forum first. The SiteWare seems more comfortable with offering the forum you are in in the that final step.
