Accessing Oracle 11i apps through Pocket PC

Normally for any windows client to connect to the Oracle Server we add a entry into the client host file i.e. windows\system32\drivers\etc\host . Once we add the entry we are able to access the Oracle Application.
From a Pocket PC 2002 how do I access the oracle 11i apps ?

Is this possible by enabling wireless server and accessing directly through jsp pages?

Login user id is invalid in oracle 11i apps 11.5.8 on windows 2003 server

Dear All,
I Installed oracle 11i apps 11.5.8 on windows server, when I try to start ie browser
with user administrator and password, it is showing me, user id is invalid, try to login in again.
and on the status bar down it is showing loginscript_logonsubmit().
I can login with sql+ as apps/apps.
Anybody can help me out.

your problem is not very unusual... I also faced the similar situation cpl of times when Oracle was not able to continue the installation coz the Immediate Shutdown was failed. Actually During the installation, Oracle mounts/opens the database and shuts it down many times and few times, Oracle is unable to shutdown cleanly as some process is hanging or not responding.
Piece of advise is that always use staging area to install Apps as it takes long time on Win2K (anything between 4-12 hrs) to install it and CDROM Access is lot slower than HDD. Also, it will prompt u every time to insert tbe CD. All this hassle can be bypassed by using the staging area. Read the Installation help document on how to create it.
For failure reasons, look in ur installation log file which is created in the default Temp folder usually C:\documents and settings\USERNAME\local settings\temp for WinXP or C:\winnt\documents and settings\USERNAME\local settings\temp for Win2K.

Oracle Application server is Oracle's scaled up implementation of Apache or Weblogic or similar products.
While Oracle Apps might use Oracle Application Server as middleware, Oracle Apps is much, much more than Oracle Application Server.
An Oracle Apps DBA is primarily busy on the functional side, and with implementing an ongoing stream of patches ;)
The two functions have almost nothing in common.

How to Access oracle DB table through SAP..problem in code

Hi swati,
1. for this u will also require help of basis team.
2. these are the steps.
a) make an entry in DBCON
b) make connection string
(on the physical application server,
so that it can connect to secondary database)
(this will be done by basis team,
in which, they will specify the
IP address of the secondary database server,
the DATABASE ID, and the port number)
c) then using open sql / native sql,
we can use the secondary database connection,
just like normal.
d) if we use open sql,
then there must be Y/Z table on
sap as well as secondary database,
and the field names , their type all should be identical.

Accessing oracle 10g form through LAN

i have just started working on oracle form 10g,here i have created a shortcut for accessing this form & named this form as "Oracle".so that everytime when i click on the shortcut the particular form get opened......
Now i want this form to be accessed through LAN,i mean whenever any particular user write http:\\oracle in the internet explorer bar ,the form("ORACLE") which is stored in my PC,shud get opened......

How to access oracle 11i from another node

I have installed Oracle 11.5.5 on Windows NT4.0. I could access it on the same machine through the internet explorer by typing http://computername.domain name:8002/OA_HTML/US/ICXINDEX.htm
Now i want to access application from another machine. How to do it?. Can i find any help documents on this & where?

Hi,
As i remembered,you do not have to do anything extra to access the URL from other machines.ya both the machine should have the some sort of connectivity and at the max you can make the entry of URL along with ip address of server into your local machine's host file.

I am newbei to oracle app 11i please let me know Is it possible to stage manually instead of using perl script.
I am preparing folders manually and loading cds to those folders and then planning to start the installation will it work??

NLS oraAppDB oraApps oraDB oraNLS oraiAS startCd
Start to put DVD on server and copy related files to related folders, after copy job give 777 permisson to stage11 folder

Accessing Oracle Applications View through Dblink

Hi Gurus,
Here is my problem:
I have apex installed in my local machine and i have created dblink to my remote oracle applications DB. Now if i try accessing any views in the oracle apps db, iam not getting data since the org context is not set.
I tried to set the org context using below:
exec dbms_application_info.set_client_info@appsdblink('100');
but still iam not receiving any data. I hope there should be some way to do it.

Wont work everytime. SQL Workshop uses the connections from a connection pool. So if the context setting statement and then your subsequent select from the view go to diff connections (sessions) , the view will return no data.
Try this to verify that you can return data from the view.

The Oracle Applications DBA job role is less compartmentalized than a traditional Oracle DBA and the Oracle Applications DBA must also have skills in these areas:
Database Design - Many shops require customized functional extensions and reporting data marts and the Oracle Applications DBA must have outstanding Database design skills.
Oracle Application Server - The Oracle Applications DBA must understand the internals of the Oracle concurrent manager and understand how to monitor and tune Oracle Applications.
Functional Expertise - Many shops requires a business degree and a general understanding of the Oracle Applications module. For example, accountants are widely used to support Oracle eBusiness Suite (Oracle Financials), and accountants with an IT background are easily trained in Oracle Applications DBA support.

So your'e saying it lets you open the app from the app store? If so, that means it's on your phone somewhere take a better look at your homescreens. It will only let you open an app if it's been previously downloaded to the phone.

Oracle 11i Ports

Hi,
Could you let me know which ports I need to open on the firewall to allow users to access oracle 11i on an internal single server? I've opened ports 8000 and 9000 without sucess. (Also upated the local host file on the remote PCs to point to the internal name). I can get the logon screen, but beyond that it returns a blank page. For instance if your press logon.

The internal server name has to be resolvable for the external users. Look at the following doc for your deployment options. Normally, I have opened the web port and forms port only if the user can resolve the hostname of the server running Oracle Apps.
