Accessing  oracle apps on linux

Hi,
I have installed apps 11.5.9 on Red Hat9.0.
I have mozilla 1.2.x browser installed.
When i try to access the apps by typing this URL "http://<hostname>.com:8000/dev60cgi/f60cgi?jinit_mimetype=application/x-java-vm" it is throwing up the error "NPX_PLUGIN_PATH variable is not defined." In one of the metalink posting they had mentioned to download jdk1.4.1 and to set the NPX_PLUGIN_PATH variable to jdk1.4.1/jre/plugin directory. I have followed the same steps but still it is giving the same error.
Any idea on how to resolve this
Thanks
Kanna

    Hi,
That is not a problem just you can get in to linux inet browser and put the hostname.domainname.com:portnumber/OA_HTML/US/ICSINDEX.HTM
So that you can get the apps sign on screen will be launched up and available to access in to Oracle applications.
The work could be done in solaris browser and linux browser is possible.

    Hi,
If you mean how to access eBusiness Suite from within the Virtual Machine, then you just navigate to the same URL you normally would. You may need to put the machine alias in your hosts file if you are referencing it via machine name rather than IP address.
If you mean that you want to load the form in forms builder (for example) then you need to FTP the form from server to client (as you normally would) and then open it in your client (XP virtual machine).
If you want to use Workflow Builder (as per your original requirement) then you need to ensure that the TNSNAMES.ora file in the Workflow Builder home has an entry for your instance on Linux, and then you should be able to connect to the database directly.

Thanks.Problem & solution have nothing to do with Oracle,
but involves only Networking Basics 101.
Does DB Server have a hostname & IP# that can be resolved & accessed from anywhere on the Internet?
If so, post those details here.

  • Installing Oracle Apps on Linux Virtual Machine, but need patch "6078836"

    Hello Friend's,
    Hope you are doing well...!
I start my EBS Training in a functional role in less than 10 day's.
My dilemma is that i am having a heck of a time installing Oracle Apps on my machine. As recommended in many blogs, i've installed a virtual machine environment and then installed Linux Version 5 Update 5. Before i begins installing Oracle apps, the last step is to go to my oracle support "mos" and install patch 6078836, which i can't access. It seems to me as if that one should either have a paid oracle support account or be a part of an organization/company that has one. I can't get past the sign in page to install this patch and no where in these blogs does it say this.
Does anyone have this patch or has access to it or any knowledge or idea as to where can i find this?
As a back up i've started downloading Oracle apps for a windows server machine as well, in case i am unable to download this patch at least i have a back up. And the bad thing about this is the fact that i am in India and the bandwidth here sucks even with a 2 MB plan. With these speeds this 50 GB download will take another 3 to 4 days. And time is of the utmost importance for me right now..
Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated..
Thank you all in advance and hope that you have a great weekend..!

Does anyone have this patch or has access to it or any knowledge or idea as to where can i find this?Even though any of us has the patch we are not supposed to mail it as this violates Oracle support agreement policy.
There is no other source to get the patch and most Oracle patches (if not all) can be downloaded from MOS website.

  • Easiest Way to Access Oracle DB from Linux

I haven't had much luck installing Oracle 8i for Linux on Red Hat 7.0. All I really want to do is access an Oracle database residing on a different (NT) server. What is the easiest way to do this? I thought that by installing 8i, I would automatically get an Oracle client.
I tried installing root, unixODBC, RDBS, and the Oracle client but after doing so, when I try to run ODBCConfig (or DataManager) I get:
    [root@rbilonick database]# ODBCConfig
ODBCConfig: Symbol `__vt_4QTab' has different size in shared object,
    consider re-linking
    Segmentation fault
    [root@rbilonick database]# DataManager
DataManager: Symbol `__vt_4QTab' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
    Segmentation fault
I've tried recompiling the srpm but then I get:
    rpm --recompile unixODBC-1.8.8-1.src.rpm
    gcc -DUNIXODBC -DPACKAGE=\"unixODBC\" -DVERSION=\"1.8.8\" -DYYTEXT_POINTER=1 -DHAVE_LIBCRYPT=1 -DHAVE_LIBM=1 -DHAVE_STRCASECMP=1 -DHAVE_STRNCASECMP=1 -DHAVE_LIBDL=1 -D_REENTRANT=1 -DHAVE_LIBPTHREAD=1 -DHAVE_LIBZ=1 -DHAVE_LIBPNG=1 -DSTDC_HEADERS=1 -DHAVE_MALLOC_H=1 -DHAVE_UNISTD_H=1 -DHAVE_PWD_H=1 -DHAVE_CRYPT_H=1

    Yeah,
so the main issue with this method is that ukMap() is displayed on "stage" at 0x0 which means it runs over the top of the view navigator bar at the top.
I suppose i could figure out the hight of this and position its y value according .
It would be just nice to add like a "vgroup" component and use addChild within this some how????
    Thanks

  • Load Balancing for Oracle Apps in linux

    Dear all,
I need anykind of information for load balancing (how to do it - architecture) for oracle application in linux environment.
Just for info, the database will be on linux too using RAC (3 machines). I have 4 machines to be use as application tier.
any kind of information will be appriciated.
You can also send it directly to my email account: [email protected] or [email protected]
    best regards,
    Yohan

I'm in the middle of doing this right now. There is a doc on metalink (233428.1) that details the process. I would highly recommend trying this in dev/test env first. Even though the instructions are very straight forward and not very complicated, I'm still having configuration issues.

  • Internet speed to access oracle apps in cloud

    Hi all,
    EBS R12.2 Cloud
What is the minimum internet speed (measure using > Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Tes
such that our client process connecting to EBS cloud is stable?
Some users sometimes is complaining their forms or processes is loading very slowly and is blaming on the cloud server.
But if I check on the server, the CPU activity is little only. So I need to tell them to reboot their laptops, which sometime works.
But can it be  caused by their internet speed, if it is not stable? Because they are using wi-fi.
    Thanks a lot,
    mk

    Thanks Kj, Bashar, and all,
Yes they are independent consultants ( less that 10 people) using their own mobile phone internet to access our app in cloud.
Some of them are complaining that the  app seems so slow they wanted to bounced the server apps & database. But I told them that the problem was their laptop or internet speed.
I explain to them to close other applications they are opening and that they might have plenty of other apps opened. I also advise to reboot their laptops.
In addition, I will ask them to measure their internet speed if the have minimum of 1Mb download speed using www.speedtest.net.
By what is the difference of having a 256Kb line or 512kb line or 1Mb line? if they have the same 1Mb download speed?
    Thanks all,
