Accessing Oracle through Frame relay

Is anyone using a 56k Frame relay communications connection to the applications. We are attempting to deploy sales offices on Frame relay and are experiencing very slow response time. THe interesting thing is that the communications provider is telling us that we are not using all of the available bandwidth!!

Hi,
I'm using 128k frame relay + satelite and I was fancing this situations, so the network admin find out that the link was losting packs.
Ask your communications provider to check it. I think it�s possible do it using ping.
Besides that we are using metaframe to improve the performance because we have a lot of conetions.

What is the application release?
You can either use a Public IP Address for the application/database node (but this is not recommended as it is not secure) or implement DMZ -- Both solutions are not feasible if you want to give access for one/few user(s) only for certain time as it requires lots of changes. The best option would be connecting through VPN so your external user will be connected to your office network and will be able to access the application as he/she is in the office, and this does not require any changes at the application/database level.
If you have group of users and those users require a long term access to the application, then you need to consider implementing DMZ if the VPN solution is not your best option.

How to access oracle forms from public ip through internet browser

Dear Team,
I have following setup:-
We are using oracle database 11gR2
Oracle Forms & reports : 11.1.2
O.S : Windows 7 Professional
I am currently accessing forms through local network through browser from server successfully.
Now I want to access the same forms through public ip through internet browser from a remote location and not from our local network.
I have also installed Xammp 1.7.7 apache server in the same setup computer.
Last time I tried to access oracle through http server but xampp http port was conflicting with oracle http server so i needed to disable oracle http server for xampp apache server to work, at that time i was not needing oracle http server, now I need both. Is there any workaround to this for oracle and xampp to work at the same time in the same setup, please let me know.
Can anybody help me to find solution for this issue.

You have to use two different -different ports for the both
use 8080 port for the Oracle http and another for another web server.
you can use proxy to filter the requests and redirect then to another port as per requirement.

How to find users machine / IP who is accessing forms through Oracle AS

Set serverURL=/forms90/f90servlet/session in the Forms Web configuration default section or add it to the URL to start tracing host name and ip-addresses from clients. The output appears in the servlet log file application.log. sessionperf , perf and debug are the other options instead of session.

Normally for any windows client to connect to the Oracle Server we add a entry into the client host file i.e. windows\system32\drivers\etc\host . Once we add the entry we are able to access the Oracle Application.

1. for this u will also require help of basis team.
2. these are the steps.
a) make an entry in DBCON
b) make connection string
(on the physical application server,
so that it can connect to secondary database)
(this will be done by basis team,
in which, they will specify the
IP address of the secondary database server,
the DATABASE ID, and the port number)
c) then using open sql / native sql,
we can use the secondary database connection,
just like normal.
d) if we use open sql,
then there must be Y/Z table on
sap as well as secondary database,
and the field names , their type all should be identical.

Frame Relay access into MPLS with QOS

My provider is telling me that I can take my frame relay network and map it into their MPLS network. Basically all my sites would connect into the providers Frame network and then mapped into the proivders MPLS network. Now I know this will work; but my concern is VoIP and QOS. If I have a single PVC and I am marking VoIP packets with an IPPREC of 5 how will the providers frame realy network see that? And how will it be honered from CE => Provider FR => PE => P => PE => Provider FR => CE

Todd, I doubt how would your SP provide you guranteed QOS SLA's with that setup. As there is no one to one mapping of PREC/EXP values to FR based QOS.
But although, if he gurantees or ensures that the FR access cloud is never going to be congested and everything is fifo in there then he can provide your per hop QOS behaviour based on your PREC value across the MPLS cloud.

It is possible to use Frame Relay switches as Label, Switching Routers. Such Frame Relay switches run network layer routing algorithms (such as OSPF, IS-IS, etc.), and their forwarding
is based on the results of these routing algorithms. No specific
Frame Relay routing is needed.
When a Frame Relay switch is used for label switching, the top
(current) label, on which forwarding decisions are based, is carried
in the DLCI field of the Frame Relay data link layer header of a
frame. Additional information carried along with the top (current)
label, but not processed by Frame Relay switching, along with other
labels, if the packet is multiply labeled, are carried in the generic
MPLS encapsulation defined in [STACK].

Unable to access Database through DBAdapater

I am giving proper values for JNDI name in weblogic-ra.xml.
What I observed is We have a connectionfacatory configuration in ra.xml which is "oracle.tip.adapter.db.ManagaedConnectionfactory".
Is there any link with this connectionfactory to the errors that I am getting.

Error while accessing data from MS Access DB through Window AD architec

Dear Members,
Iam having a BO 3.0 installation on a standalone PC with the basic tomcat and mysql setup... As a test environment, Now while designing universes i can easily connect to Oracle EBS structure also SQL server DB ... the problem is when iam linking to a MS Access DB through a network drive (its all ok in the designer) but while in Webi while runnning the query, it throws an error of (WIS 10901 .... database error DSN not specified)
I have configured ODBC properly also given appropriate rights for the users and strangely the same universe is running well with my thick client desktop and webi rich client
(so iam sure its not a odbc issue)
Looking forward for any comments on this problem

possibly the account running the webi report server doesn't have access to the drive. Is it local system? Try using the same account you are logged into the webi rich client as, but you will most likely need to grant that account local admin on the server so it can run the service.

Unable to read recordsets in oracle through VB6/ADO 2.0

Problem: Not able to access/read partiular field of any table(in Oracle) through vb6/ADO.
Note the "insert into" SQL statement is working and through SQL worksheet in Oracle 8.0 , version 1.5.0 (which I am using) I am able to read all the records but whenever I try to read it through the VB6 by the command - "recordset!field name" , the following error is generated.

Connection from remote sites (Frame Relay WAN) to AS/400 dissapears

Hello,
We have the following problem appearing in our environment:
All connections from remote sites dissapears unexpected from AS/400. After 2-3 minutes remote users get normal connectivity again.
The environment is the the following:
Frame Relay/ATM WAN (Frame Relay on remote sites and ATM in datacenter) comes to Cisco 7204VXR router which connected to LAN switch with 10/100/1000 ports. AS/400 with Fast Ethernet interface also connected to the similar LAN switch. CEF is enabled on the router, IOS version 12.4.3a. We have ETHSTD *ALL parameter set on AS/400. Remote users uses TCP/IP and Telnet but there are a number of 5494 controllers wich uses SNA.
We got the problem for the first time after we enabled CEF on the router.
I suspect that the cause of problem is Ethernet frames of different standards due to ETHSTD *ALL, but can neither reproduce the problem nor understand why it behaves so.
Have anybody had similar problem?
I would be very thanksfull if somebody can help me to solve it.

Hi Martin,
Cisco 7200 itself can access AS/400 as well as all other hosts in the same with AS/400 LAN. There is no any outage in communications which goes to another LAN segment via Netscreen firewall while the communication via Cisco is down. Only those hosts which connected via Cisco are experiencing the problem. I can not say where the traceroute from AS/400 stucks (there are other people who maintain the machine and they never could catch the exact moment of outage).
To turn off CEF I treat as the last option actually and unfortunatelly there is no guarantee that software upgrade will help (we have 12.4.3a now).

Configuring Frame-Relay and the Frame-Relay Switch To Participate in WAN Routing

Hey,
My WAN in my voice lab is currently functional between all of my routers HQ, BR1, and BR1 with full-mesh connectivity. I am using my PSTN router for the frame-relay switching as is shown in the attached configs. I have used the connect commands for the PVC routing logic.
connect HQ-BR1 Serial0/3/0 101 Serial0/2/0 201
connect HQ-BR2 Serial0/3/0 102 Serial0/2/1 301
connect BR1-BR2 Serial0/2/0 202 Serial0/2/1 302
My question concerns the possibility of getting the PSTN router to participate in the WAN and the OSPF routing process? The connect command tells how the PVCs are to be connected and pass through the PSTN router. Is there anyway to do it so that a PVC connects to the PSTN router itself?
I would specifically like to create a connection between the HQ and PSTN router over the WAN. If anyone has any insight on this I would really appreciate it.

Hello Adam,
you don't need to do FR switching.
You just need to configure a back to back PVC associated to a p2p subinterface under PSTN router interface se0/3/0 and HQ:se0/1/0. the new PVC can be 103 on both sides
PSTN
interface ser0/3/0.103 point-to-point
ip address 10.1.13.1 255.255.255.0
frame-relay interface-dlci 103
HQ
interface ser0/1/0.103 point-to-point
ip address 10.1.13.1 255.255.255.0
frame-relay interface-dlci 103
note: I was able to do this using the older syntax frame-relay route under interface configuration on frame relay switch. I would expect to work for you too with newer syntax connect.
