Accessing other databases other than where HTMLDB is installed

I want to connect to more than one database in HTMLDB.
I want to give a select list where user will select database wants to connect & then he will be given choices to run report.
I don't want to use db links since this would only allow to connect to one database instance.
The queries which runs against each database instance is same & Schema tables in each database instance is also same.
Is it possible to do this in HTML DB ? If yes, where I can get more information.

Thanks for taking your time to answer my question.
I am not sure whether you understood my problem or not.
Let me give you simple example:-
User will be presented a select list of all database instance. User will select 1 of value from select list. This is name of Instance.
Based on Instance selected, I need to connect to that database & run some queries.
Queries will remain same against each database instance. They access same underlying tables but only data changes between different database.
More like creating a product like OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager).
Is it possible ?

Smart tunnel used for access other than native application?

Dear all,
i have a question about smart tunnel. my situation is, i need to access to the server on certain IP address that using a port (example : port 5007) that is native for the application. that application is customized application just for my company.

Trackpad cursor clicks somewhere other than where I'm clicking

I have a macbook pro OS X 10.7. About 10% of my trackpad "clicks" end up activating something other than what I'm clicking on. For example, I go to click a link on a webpage, and as I'm depressing the trackpad, the cursor jumps to my iPhoto application icon and activates iPhoto. I then force a quit to stop it. This happens about 10% of all clicks. Very annoying. I've contacted Applecare, they basically say it's one of those computer "glitches", so just live with it. Anyone have a solution?

Mac OS X uses "all devices active" philosophy. You ARE using any other devices you have plugged in.

Limiting the Report Layout access other than Authorization Object S_ALV_LAYO

Dear Experts,
We have an issue of Layout Access limit to Users coz unwittingly these are being deleted.
(Example: IW39 à after F8 à Settings à Layout.)
The Authorization object S_ALV_LAYO which limits the access, has been defined in the multiple Roles, where every User been assigned with these Roles across Three Continents.
Instead of hampering the existing Streamlined Roles, looking for other Options since if it may give odd behaviour after modifying the Roles then all the Users across the continents will be effected.
It will be grateful if we get other options to limit the Layout access instead of controlling through Authorization Object.

The Global Roles has maintained with Authorization Object (S_LAYO_ALV) and these are been assigned to Every User coz all Users should access these reports.
So now every User has maintained with the Authorization Object to access.
Now we are trying to Control the Access to limited Users through without hampering the well maintained/streamlined Roles, since if any adverse effects on the modified roles may impact to all the Users across the continents.
Looking for other options.

How do I get one to one classes at a store other than where I purchased it?

I purchased my macbook pro in Cerritos. I live in Fresno. Their schedule for classes so far, is not convenienet. I was told I could take the classes at any store. But when I try to check alternatives I get a short list of stores all in the L.A. area. How do I find other alternative stores for these classes? I'd like to check schedules in San Jose, or the S.F.bay area, or the central valley. How do I do that?

Just upgraded to Illustrator CC. Finding it to be unstable in a number of ways--one in particular being that objects jump spontaneously to layers other than where I put them. What's going on? Is the program stable or not?

I just upgraded to Illustrator CC, thinking it might be the solution to a number of glitches I had been experiencing with CS6. I have posted them in this forum under 'trouble with small things.'
Almost right of the hop, I am finding not only the original bugs I complained about still exist but at least one troublesome new one i.e., objects are spontaneously jumping from the layer I assigned them to another layer. I've had a few suggestions from good-hearted adherents to this forum i.e., fiddle with preferences etc.,--but Is there a user out there who actually uses this program seriously and has the same problems? It's looking to me like Adobe just hasn't looked after the details in designing the Illustrator program. Here's an example: Try to use the knife tool to cut off a section of an image comprised of several objects. Does the tool apply itself in a straight line when used with the option key as per Adobe's instructions? Or does it move in a nervous, wiggling line, option key or not, resulting in a crooked cut? What's going on here?

Inserting Title variable that refers to topic other than where variable resides

Still using RH9, but I think RH10 is going into our upcoming budget. I understand the Title variable in the Fields and Variables dialog refers to the title of the topic in which you are placing the variable. However, I would like to use a topic title reference in another topic, because it is likely the title will change and I only want to change it in one place and have it reflected automatically.
Here are two inadequate solutions I would reject:
Dragging the topic name from the Project Manager and then changing the title of the referred topic: it does not change the reference text.
Making a user defined variable: seems counterproductive because I will still be making one change too many.
Example: I have a topic called VIP PO Approval that is referring to the VIP PO Upload/Entry topic. I am putting hyperlinks from the Approval topic to the Upload/Entry topic, but the text of the links should come from the "Upload/Entry" Topic Title field. If the powers that be change the spelling of Upload/Entry (perhaps include spaces around the slash), I only want to change it in the properties of that topic or rename it in Project Manager (the point is, in one place only).
Does anyone know how to do this in RH9? Is there an enhancement in RH10?

I would add to Peter's response by saying this: When you drag and drop to create a link, what the link actually reads is dependent upon how you created the link. For example, if you select the text used to constitute the link, THEN drag to the selected text, the selected text is used instead of the Topic title. And sure, if you just drag the topic to an empty spot on the page, the Topic Title is used.
Sure, it seems like an extra step is involved, but with RoboHelp 10, I defined a variable and used the variable as my topic title. I then dragged the variable to the selected text to create the variable. Then I dragged the desired topic to the variable to create the link. All seemed to work just fine with the link text updating when the variable was changed
I think any way you slice it you are going to have at least one extra step. But then again, anything that gives you more functionality tends to require an extra hoop or two, no? And on the up side, while an extra step is inovolved initially, you actually SAVE steps down the road. So overall, I'd say you are still in the benefit zone.

How to create user other than 'sa' to connect database server in SAP SBO

I want to ask how the step for create user other than 'sa' to connect database server in SAP SBO? Until now I use 'sa' (default) for connect to database server in SAP SBO application.
Can I do that?

You may create multiple SQL users to give full right to B1 database instead of using 'sa' user.
However, the preferred way would be by Use Trusted connection when you set the connection to SQL Server. In this way, you just need one more user for SQL. A group of window users could use this SQL access to connect database server.

Accessing tables in other than default schema.

Hi Experts,
I am using an Enterprise Bean (Stateless) that uses Common JDBC
to connect to the Java Schema of the WAS. I have created a
DataSource alias (created on Default Datasource) and using it for connection.
My requirement is to get a list of all tables created in the Default schema.
But when I use DatabaseMetadta.getTables() method, for this type of connection
it throws out the following exception:
java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: Method getTables() not supported by Common JDBC
I have even tried using the query "Select * from USER_TABLES", but with this one,
an SQL Exception is thrown saying:
com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException: The SQL statement "SELECT "TABLE_NAME" FROM "USER_TABLES"" contains
the semantics error[s]: table "USER_TABLES" unknown
Please tell my how can I use tables in other than the default schema.

from your post, it is not entirely clear to me what you are atempting to do.
1) Do you need help with accessing tables in a non-default schema?
2) Do you want to determine all tables in the default schema?
If 1), please follow the hints given by Vladimir Pavlov.
If 2), currently, the method DatabaseMetaData.getTables() is unfortunately not supported in Open SQL/JDBC. We are currently preparing a new download of the NetWeaver Java EE 5 edition. In this version, the getTables() method will be supported.
Or do you just want to check for the existence of a specific database table in the default schema?

How to connect to database with a schema other than current user?

I would like to know whether it is possible to specify a specific schema while connecting to a database directly by SQL*Plus command. Usually here is what I do (assuming that db01.WORLD is already in tnsnames.ora)
$ sqlplus scott/[email protected], in this case the user is SCOTT and the current schema is also SCOTT. If I want to change the current schema I have to use an ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA command. So what I would like to know is that whether there is an alternative, that is, proceeding in a way where the user SCOTT connects directly (by using SQL*Plus shell) to a SCHEMA other than SCOTT (in other words, is it possible to specify the desired schema at the connection time, for example user SCOTT who connects under a schema named 'management')

The ordinary way to do this is to
1 - grant object privileges from the other schema to scott (Refer to the GRANT command in the online documentation)
2 - create a private synonym in the Scott user (Look up CREATE SYNONYM in the documentation)
The only other solution would be to make sure to create an after login trigger running the alter session command.
Finally two words of advise
1 You are recommended to leave the user Scott alone, and not mess it up with your own additions.
2 You seem to treat this forum as a free Oracle class. As the people responding here are volunteers you are kindly advised to stop doing that and use the online documentation at http://tahiti.oracle.com and read at least the 'Getting Started' document and/or the '2-Day' document for your unknown version of Oracle.

You had already done "Repair" and "Rebuild"? These usually takes scores of minutes or hours.
Does the Library on your external drive work from the external drive? Navigate to it in Finder and double-click the name.
If it does, delete the problem Library, empty the System Trash, reboot, Verify your system disk using Disk Utility (and might as well repair permissions while you're at it), reboot, test the external drive Library once more to confirm it works properly, then close it and copy the Library to your system drive. When the copying is done, double-click the Library (now on the system drive) and see what you get.
