Accessing Pictures Held on iCloud Drive

Hi, I have been waiting for Apple's iCloud Drive offering for a while and want to transfer my docs/pics etc. to the new service - but the lack of a standalone Apple iCloud Drive Application is strange.  Yes, you can access Docs via Pages etc. but HOW do you access pictures.  I have over 30GB of Pictures and if I wanted to transfer them onto Apple's cloud after upgrading my storage option how would I then access them on my iPad/iPhone??
I uploaded a single image to iCloud Drive and looked into the Photo's app for any sign of an iCloud Drive folder to suggest they had been found and there is nothing - so how do you do it?
Cheers

At the present time, you can only access data in iCloud drive from within apps that support it.  See http://www.imore.com/icloud-drive-clearing-up-confusion.

  • How to access my iwork through icloud drive

Could you please tel me how I can access my iwork from icloud drive using an ipad? please!

You don't need to access iCloud Drive on the iPad because everything that is in iCloud Drive is already on the iPad. iCloud Drive keeps your documents in sync across devices and it can be accessed using a web browser on a computer in iCloud.com. However, as I already stated, there is no need to access iCloud.com on the iPad since everything in iCloud is on the iPad.
If you insist on trying, identify Safari or any other browser that you have on the iPad as a desktop browser and then you will be able to get into iCloud.com. If your experience is anything like my experience using iCloud, com on the iPad, you will have mixed results at best. I suggest that you just use Pages, Numbers or Keynote on the iPad since those same documents are also in iCloud Drive.
You can set Safari as a desktop browser by tapping in the url field and then pull down on the favorites screen to get to Request Desktop Site.

  • How to access jpeg files on icloud drive from your iphone (5s)

Can anyone tell me how to access a jpeg file on icloud drive from iphone? I have upgraded my macbook pro (with retina) to Yosemite, and my iphone is on ios 8.01 and I have turned on icloud drive. The only content I have seen online is accessing word docs through Pages which I get - but what about jpeg files? Thank you!

At the moment, you can't.  A favourite complaint.  Hopefully, the situation will change in the near future, but only Apple knows when or if.

  • Multiple apple ID's - iCloud drive and google drive?

I've got a variety of apple devices and am trying to work out the best way to keep documents in sync across them all. The ideal solution would be to use iCloud drive but my macbook and iPhone are on one apple ID and my wife iPad and iPhone are on another. I'd like to keep them on separate apple ID's as we have different contact groups and don't want to see iCloud tabs for each other, etc. Plus backing up 4 devices to one iCloud account won't leave much space for anything else and when Microsoft give out 30gb, google give out 10gb the 5gb iCloud allowance is pretty poor.
At the moment we use google drive to store all our documents and just access this on our devices via the drive app. I'd really like to switch to using iCloud drive as it'll mean I can use iWork more than office but there just doesn't seem to be a way to keep documents in sync across multiple apple ID's.  Google drive also doesn't cater for iWork file formats so I can't simply save everything in there and just copy over to iCloud drive.
Does anyone have any bright ideas? Are there any third party iOS apps that will let you access items stored in icloud drive? I'd also thought about trying to use automator or applescript to copy a few select documents over to iCloud drive and convert to the iWork formats but I'm quite new to all that so not very sure where to start.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have a similar problem with this as well.  For example, I like to keep the "contacts" of me and my spouse updated on both of our phones.  In order for this to happen, I have to sign in to "icloud" on both devices & mac with my apple ID.  It would be much better if this could be shared/combined with multiple devices as an option.  I don't think "icloud drive" solve's this problem.

  • Why am I not able to use iCloud Drive with the Mail app?

I have an iPad Air and recently updated to the latest iOS currently version 8.0.2.  I understand that Apple just opened up iCloud Drive to be able to access your documents or anything within your iCloud account.  I like the feature of being able to access docs from Pages, Keynote, and other apps.  However, it's unfortunate that I simply cannot access my iCloud Drive from the Mail app.  Is there a step that I'm missing to access my documents via iCloud Drive within the Mail app?  Any feedback would be much appreciated.. Thanks in advance!

Full functionality for iCloud Drive will not be available until Yosemite is released.

  • Browse icloud drive on ios device?

Is there a way to browse the files and folders of my iCloud drive from my ios device, without opening a specific app like pages, or numbers?
I am looking to browse and open PDF's mostly. I am just wondering if there is an Apple app out there that gives similar accessibility as drop-box or how the old mac file sharing system worked where you could access all you files in the directory from any device.
It seems like the icloud drive is great for files from apple apps, but for everything else it is a bit more cumbersome to access the file directory on ios devices.
    thanks!

  • Regarding iCloud drive...can I store photos in directories?

Regarding icloud drive...can I store photos in their directories? I have many that were scanned -so exif files are useless.

This is all Apple has released so far publicly about iCloud Drive:
    http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/icloud-drive/
Now you have the freedom to work with the document of your choice on the device of your choice. Because with iCloud Drive, you can safely store all your presentations, spreadsheets, PDFs, images, and any other kind of document in iCloud and access them from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC.
Yes, you can create folders and store images in them as you like. But so far nothing is known, how the new iPhoto.app on MacOS X Yosemite will store and access the photos on iCloud Drive. SO, if you want to use Apple's photos apps on your devices to sync photo libraries, you will probably not be free to store photos as you like.

  • Icloud drive on ios .. How to make it a perfect experience ?? Here is a simple suggestion

Dear apple if you want to make the Ios a perfect experience and shut the comptitors noise about difficculty in  transfering files in and out of an ios device it is so simple now after the icloud drive is here .. Just one simple thing
create an icloud drive icon in the ios system allowing users to access files on the icloud drive in the same  way it is accessed on yosmite  or icloud.com...  it will be very user friendly and easy to use and will end the fear of ios closed source policy some people have
another option in safari called download to icloud drive would really take the ios into another level believe me nobody would not think this is perfect

  • Is there any way to sync iCloud drive to a local folder on my Mac?

    Hi there,
I would like to have a local copy of my documents held in iCloud Drive. I understand that I can set up subfolders in the iCloud Drive folder in finder, but assume these are not held locally??
I have a application called Goodsync that I used to keep my dropbox folder synced with my docs folder, but I assume this program won't work as I cannot find iCloud drive locally to tell it to sync my document folder with (which I used to do with Dropbox very easily).
I'm aware there is another thread on this point, but to be honest the content of that thread is rather beyond me. I'm aware that if there is a local version of iCloud Drive, it is likely to take some time to sync with iCloud.com, but at the moment I don't even know if there is a local copy of iCloud Drive. I feel there must be as I can copy content to the iCloud Drive on my mac pretty instantly (but it doesn't obviously sync with iCloud.com instantly).
    Any pointers much appreciated
    Cheers
    Justin

All folders and files on the iCloud drive are duplicated on your hard drive. They are located in the Users/Home/Library/Mobile Documents folder
It will take a bit of time for additions to the iCloud Drive folder
to be synced to the online iCloud.com Drive folder.

  • Icloud drive icon

    Hello,
upgraded to IOS 8 on all my devices yesterday, waited for iCloud Drive to become available on one of my PC's. It's now setup and running on a Windows laptop... (Interesting that it becomes available on Windows before Mac...)
I can see the folder in File Explorer, in iCloud on the web, but no way to access it on any of my IOS devices???
Should there not be an icon available? I'm already paying for additional storage, but I can travel with my iPad because I don't hhave access to my files???
Is it just just me or did I not set something properly?
