Accessing Podcasts in Music Store locks-up computer.

I have a problem that started about a week ago (iTunes under Win XP Pro). No problem accessing the top page of the Music Store, but when I click on 'Podcast', the computer goes into a tight loop. I still have iTunes control, but am frozen out of the Music Store and the CPU usage jumps to 50% for one of the iTunes processes. If I close the iTunes window, the remaining iTunes process (the one accessing the Music Store jumps up to 98% CPU usage. It appears it is stuck in a tight loop. I tried this on three different computers, all running the latest version of iTunes. The only thing in common is the internet access which is via DirecWay satellite service (Small Office). I have no idea what to try next. All other aspects of iTunes is working properly.

I took my laptop to the local sandwich shop and used their WiFi connection; iTunes worked perfectly! It looks like the problem is specific to my DirecWay ISP. No idea how to proceed.

  • Listening to purchaces music without access to iTunes Music store

I put all my purchased music on a USB memory stick and added it to my
iTunes library at work. When I went to play them, I got a popup that
my iTunes couldn't access the iTunes Music Store. Bummer. My work has
me locked out (no access to the music store from work). I'm I just SOL?
I used to have access but lately the company has added more "security".
Is there anyway around this? Can I get access and type something in to
iTunes? I have authorized 3 computers (2 Macs and a PC) at home, but I
still have 2 left, and would like to be able to use my PC at work.
    Home there is a work-around.
    Thanks.

They are all like that. Your iPhone is behaving normally.
Is your coworkers iPod Touch syncing music with his work computer? If so, the music will not be greyed out and will work as you are seeing. The iPhone and Touch will have the songs playable only with the library with which they sync.

  • Error (-3237) when acessing Music store on new computer

I just got a new computer so I had to download iTunes on my new computer and When I sign in to access the music store the accessing music store window comes up but after a while the Error window comes up saying iTunes could not connect to the Music store. An unknown error occurred
    (-3237).
    HELP!!
    Thank you!

    Similar problems here.
Brand new laptop. I can open iTunes or QuickTime independantly without problems. However, when I click on a movie trailer from within QuickTime I get the 3237 error when iTunes launches.
After I click for desired trailer an IE window pops up:
    "One Moment Please.
Connecting to the iTunes Music Store.
    Loading
We are unable to find iTunes on your computer.
(the above line is not visible until I cut and paste)
If iTunes doesn't open, click the iTunes application icon in your Dock or Windows Task Bar."
Windows then pops up a message that says:
"The web page you are viewing is tring to close the window.
Do you want to close the window?"
In the meantme, iTune has opened but popped up an error:
"iTunes could not connect to the Music Store.
    An unknown error occurred (-3237).
Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
Now when I choose to close the IE window, and clear the Itunes error window, iTunes connects to the Music Store successfully.
It's still annoying to clear the error every time though. Any ideas?

  • Cannot access the iTunes music store.

Is there a block on iTunes music store when you have a Polish address for your iTunes account? Since changing my address to a Polish one, I can no longer access the music store, only the software applications.

I have not been able to assess Itunes for many months - or the online software update function either. I noticed an Internet Explorer logo pops up every time I launch either function (software update or Itunes music store), then it shows the bar download at 1/3rd, where it stays until I get the timed-out message.
I went to update Explorer (in case that was the problem) and Microsoft says it stopped supporting Mac in 2005!
Is that the problem? Is Mac still using a Microsoft browser to access their updates and store, when Microsoft doesn't even support Mac anymore? I suspect so, or else why does the Explorer logo always show up?
I expect Apple is losing a lot of Itunes sales because of this. It appears I am not the only one having this ongoing problem.
Will upgrading my OS help. or will I get the same Explorer logo?

  • How to access already bought music from a new computer.

My work computer got attacked by a virus and I lost almost all my data. Now I have my new computer and I am trying to find out if there is a way to find all the music that I already bought from itunes and download it to my new library. I will appreciate any help. Thanks
      Windows XP

If you have no back up of your purchases you can't simply download replacements. The policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage."
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service

  • Is it possible to use the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store without a computer?

    Hi all,
I received a new 16gb iPod Touch over the weekend. I don't have a PC or an Apple computer around, so I went down to the Apple store and they activated my iPod for me. Cool.
Now I want to buy some songs from the Wi-fi store, but it looks like I need an account. Is it possible to create an iTunes Music Store account without actually using iTunes? I searched the Apple site but was unable to find anything that helped.
Hmm...now that I spell it out, it does sound kind of impossible, since I would need to somehow get that account info onto my iPod Touch...am I screwed?
    Thanks for any help!

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You've already created the AppleID (you need that to post here), could you ask a friend, work collegue or the Apple Store to allow you to sync those details across?

  • Podcast/iTunes Music Store Download/Subscription Counter?

    Hi Guys,
Does anyone know of an easy method to keep track of how many people have downloaded your podcast through the iTunes Music Store? Or how many people are subscribed to it through iTunes?
This info would be very handy. Our podcast has made it into the top 20 at one stage (Anime Snack Time!), so the Music Store must keep a running tally, but is there any easy way for me to find out the number of times it's been downloaded?
Is there a widget that exists, that does this?
    Anyone got any ideas!
    Thanks!
    BC

Yes, I recommend making a folder on your web server and putting your sound or video file there. Then you can look at your website stats (webtrends ect.) and look for the stats on "directories". This will give you your stats.
    I hope this helps.

  • Music Store Lock-Up

My iTunes works fine except the Music Store. It starts to load and stops just short and sits...and sits...and nothing. It started to happen when I downloaded the latest version of iTunes...never happened before that. I've tried to close and restart the program AND my computer. Nothing works. How can I buy music if the music store won't open?
    Please fix!!!

  • I Can't access the iTunes music store after updating to the newest version of iTunes

I know this sounds like a newbie question, but I have been using iTunes for over five years now. I recently updated to the newest version of iTunes (10.5 I think) and ever since that I have not been able to access the iTunes store. It has been over a week now and I am really confused. The status bar will just freeze and then it will disappear when I click to go on the store. I have tried reinstalling iTunes and that hasn't worked. Not sure what to do. Thanks for any suggestions.

I've got the same problem, and have reinstalled my entire system and haven't installed any Anti Virus or Spyware programs yet, and still can't get into the stores.
When I wrote last week to tech support they couldn't help me via email, and to me that I might need to go to the fee based support to get this resolved.
Does anyone have a phone number to tech support that's free to get this fixed?

  • ITunes Crashed when attempting to access Music Store

hello. I am using iTunes 6.0.5.20 as of today, and continue to have a problem carried over from the previous version...
when I attempt to access the iTunes music store in the regular manner the program closes without any error messages, the icon remaining in the system tray until i scroll my mouse over it upon which it disappears - the program crashes outright -
i have e-mailed apple support and attempted to use all of their automatically generated solutions in solving this problem including -
upgrading (was never the issue i stay up-to-date generally)
checking my network and program access settings including firewalls etc.
    run the repair process
run the un-install re-install process of both itunes and quicktime
i've also tried re-calibrating the itunes library by deleting the appropriate files and having itunes re-determine the included files... nonetheless the problem remains
this is becoming immensely frustrating and to be frank, i work in the recording industry and for all the talk about apple support - i have been immensely frustrated by the lack of personal support whatsoever - i have received only automated responses regarding online documentation... as if i didn't spend horus trying to solve the problem before sending an e-mail at all.
please if anybody has any ideas i'm desperate to solve this.
    cheers
    elias

Your problem is the same one affecting countless iTunes users, including myself. There seems to be a common factor in that most if not all are using Windows XP Pro and I've noticed that the computer make, when listed, is a Dell. I have been through all the same Apple fixes, waited on hold for support for 1 1/2 hours just to be hung up on. I've had this issue for over a month and it has transcended both iTunes ver 6.0.4 and 6.0.5. Interesting thing, sometimes I get an error message telling me iTunes has to shut down and most of the time, the application closes unexpectantly and I have the same icon in the system tray till I hover my mouse over it. Frustration has turned to anger and a desire to find another product to get music into my and my 2 kids Ipods. I'll keep an eye on your post and let you know if I uncover anything as well.

  • ITunes 9.0.2 Crashes Trying to Access iTunes Music Store on Startup

    HI, everyone,
I installed iTunes 9.0.2 today in preparation for an iPhone software upgrade, but iTunes freezes 100% of the time just after it starts up and tries to access the iTunes Music Store. There's a bit of activity in the progress bar when iTunes first starts, and then the progress bar for accessing the store shows half way finished and the program crashes (every time).
I've reinstalled, rebooted, removed and replaced the preference files and my library, all to no avail.
I'm running WinXP Pro SP 3, patches all up to date, but now I can't access my library on my computer nor can I upgrade my iPhone.
Others of you have had similar problems; one of you reported a "parental control" issue with CA security suite. I have Trend Micro and can't find any parental controls to deal with.
I have IE 8 installed but use Firefox 3.0.15.
This has been a horrible day. I have many papers to grade for my college classes and expected the installation to go smoothly (as the ones in the past have; iTunes 8 worked great).
    Please help!

    Hi, b noir,
    No, I'm afraid I don't have Nod32 installed. I wish I did--maybe a simple fix!
I'm working from home using the laptop the school supplied me. It's a domain machine, and Trend Micro's OfficeScan is installed but it's offline (though it seems to be working). The Windows firewall is disabled, probably because of the school's antivirus installation, so there doesn't seem to be a setting I can access.
I'd guess something on my machine is forcing iTunes to free as it starts to access the Music Store. My heart just sinks every time I start iTunes (dozens of times today), only to see it freeze solid every single time I open it.

  • Cannot connect iTunes to the Music Store, Dell computer, XP Pro

I have a Dell XPS computer (about 2.5 years old) running Windows XP Pro w/service pack 2.
I bought an iPod way before Christmas, and have never (not once) been able to access the music store from my computer. Sometimes the "progress bar" just shows the "candy cane" progress meter with zero progress, sometimes the progress bars gets to about 90%, sometimes the progress bar completes, and I actually get an opening page displayed from the music store, but I can never get ANY further, cannot login, setup a new account, authorize my computer for any music, etc.
My wife's computer just a few feet away from mine, is a newer Dell XPS running XP Service Pack2, same home network, same router, SAME ISP, all works fine. Zero on my computer.
As stated it's XP Pro, w/service pack 2. Norton AntiVirus 2003 (OEM from Dell), using the XP Firewall, no other accelerator software etc.
    I've tried:
    a) disabling Norton
    b) disabling Firewall
    c) I've done the msconfig startup (as detailed online), not allowing anything must MS services and iPod programs to start up
I'm getting really, really tired of this. This is the ONLY program on my computer not working properly and requiring this kind of time. I'm extremely computer saavy (write my own software in vb.net, etc.) and can try anything anyone suggests, but so far NOTHING has made any difference.
Based on the logic that my wife's computer works fine, I'd say it's not the network, router, router firewall, ISP or any of those usual suspects. In fact I've tried dialup too direct from my computer (just to try and authorize ONE video my wife bought I would like to play on mine) but no luck.
Any other suggestions. Honestly - not accessing the Music Store isn't the end of the world to me entertainment wise. but it really, really frustrates me that Apple is no help (oh yes, I emailed them too and got the boilerplate response) and that I can't get on.
Sorry for such a long post, any ideas?

    1) What exactly would I check on the router to make sure it's open it iTMS for MY computer? I know I said I'm an "advanced user" but you got me on that one, lol!
That would depend on the router. I know that some routers with firewalls control the ports individually by internal IP address, but without knowing your model of router, I don't know if that applies in your case (and I might well not know even if you told me the model; I'm only familar with a couple). If your router has a firewall and it can be shut off completely, you might give that a try as a test.
    2) I'll try uninstall and reinstall again. I've never done the registry entry check, so just search for "itunes" and stuff like that and delete?
iTunes and QuickTime, yes. CCCleaner (freeware) might help.
    3) Is there any benefit to doing the entire re-install while in the msconfig "startup" mode, i.e. with everything else turned off?
That I can't say, not having done it. Sorry; perhaps someone else will have an opinion about that.

When I try to access Music Store I get the following error message:
"We could not complete your Music Store request. An unknown error occured (-50). There was an error in the music store. Please try again later."
I have had this for several days. I have re-installed the software and the latest version of i-tunes. My firewall is set to permit i-tunes. Can anyone help?

hmmmm. the rules for that are different depending on whether you're trying to get to music or videos.

  • Can't Access the Music Store in a New Country, help!

I'm studying in Denmark and I can't seem to access the iTunes music store. I don't know if this is because I'm abroad or if its something else. I've tried disabling my firewall, and I've installed the new iTunes 7 and nothing seems to be working. Other computers on my network are able to access the music store. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

My bad, I meant that I can't get it to load. Whenever I try it gives me a message saying:
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again"
Dunno what network settings I would need to change to make this work, my connection is definitely active. I don't know if its a problem with just iTunes or other things as well. I tried using Napster and emusic as a test and Napster wouldn't connect and the emusic downloads failed.
