Accessing Portal Runtime from CAF

Hi All,
We're developing Composite appln services (exposed as web services). We now want to access the portal runtime to retrieve system, user mapping information etc.
Accessing PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources() returns null (within the service mthds) as this web service resides outside the portal runtime.
For now, we created an external library with libraries prtapi.jar, com.sap.portal.ivs.api_landscape_api.jar, com.sap.portal.ivs.api_portalpcm_api, com.sap.portal.ivs.systemlandscapeservice_api. This external library was included in the 'Used DCs' of the above-mentioned Composite Appln service DC. this enables me to compile and deploy the apis.
what would be the best way to obtain a reference to the Portal runtime from this CAF?
Do we need to add references to the following jars in application-j2ee-engine.xml? If so, how can I extend the SAP_SYSTEM_ADD_LIBS variable to show the following jars in the 'Installed libraries' list.
prtapi.jar, com.sap.portal.ivs.api_landscape_api.jar, com.sap.portal.ivs.api_portalpcm_api, com.sap.portal.ivs.systemlandscapeservice_api
Appreciate any pointers on the above. Thanks in advance!
~Prachi

Hi Pankaj,
I am not an expert but probably can still help you out...
I did go through the URL and step 3 is divided in two steps:
1. Making use of enviornment variable to access portal
You can do that by (as mentioned in the URL example below) :
Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
            "com.sapportals.portal.prt.registry.PortalRegistryFactory");
InitialContext context = new InitialContext(env);
2. Using the JNDI lookup accessing the portal service you wish to access.
IXSLTransformService xslTransformService =
            (IXSLTransformService) context.lookup(
            "/broker/services/" + IXSLTransformService.KEY);
where KEY is the name of the service, that you wish to access. This service name should be defined in the portalapp.xml file in the format of <application name>.<service name>.
If you have any more questions, please feel free.
Regards and Good Luck,
Dharmi

  • How to set up reverse proxy to allow user access portal site from internet

    Hi all,
    I have installed 10g(10.1.2.0.2) AS on same machine(single IP for both mid and infra with different users respectively). there is a DMZ on which windows IIS is working through which we need to redirect the request to application server such that users access portal page from internet (within intranet all URLs are working fine). I have went through technet documentation where i found 3 ways : through this link
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/core.1012/b13998/variants.htm
    Section 9.2.1.1, "Configuring OracleAS Web Cache as a Reverse Proxy"
    Section 9.2.1.2, "Configuring the Oracle HTTP Server as a Reverse Proxy"
    Section 9.2.1.3, "Configuring Internet Information Services as a Reverse Proxy"
    I am confused to which option to use. Also i went through the metalink document 270160.1
    Please help me which option to choose to do this.
    Thanks.

    Hi Hozy,
    May be it's too late, I am thinking to go in the same route for our sap portal access to external customers. Please can you share your experience , like what are the challenges have you faced? what is the complexity? what are all the resources we need to configure this?
    I appreciate your feedback.

  • Cannot access Portal Service from Web dynpro DC

    Hi all,
    I cannot access the portal service from my web dynpro dc.
    1. I created a Portal Service (say xxxservice) in a DC (say the DC name is testservice and the vendor is xx.com)
    2. Created a public part under the testservice DC and added my classes to it.
    3. Built and deployed the testservice DC.
    Now,
    4. I created a web dynpro DC.
    5. In the used DC section added the public part of the testservice DC and also the epbc.prtapi._api.jar for build time and runtime with strong qualifier.
    6. In the web dynpro "Sharing Reference", I added PORTAL:xx.com/testservice
    7. In the component controller, I am calling a method from the Portal Service.
    8. Built the web dynpro DC and deployed it.
    9. But at the run time it gives, NoClassDefFoundError on the xxxservice.
    I looked at many forum threads and tried everything. For eg: changed the Sharing Reference to PORTAL:sap.com/testservice but nothing works.
    Please do suggest me if I am missing something
    Thanks

    Hi Laxmi,
    I am sure something wrong at Portal Service DC creation. On webdynpro part you done fine .. by putting PORTAL:sap.com/testservice
    Check the below steps:
    1. Create DC Portal Applicaiton Stand alone (SDA)
    2. Add portal Service for the newly created portal service dc
    3. build and activate
    4. by default you should be get public part by name API which is compilation dependency
    5. here you dont need to do anything else
    6. on webdynpro just add the used dc to this API public part of portal service dc
    7. add PORTAL:sap.com/testservice  sharing reference
    If u go by this you shouldnt get any error..
    Now, u are saying something like ur own classes .. i think u are trying to put u r own classes to service.. but remeber portal service is to have only IYourService class and YourService class.. other classes should be made to be jar.. and add that jar to External library DC and create PPs compile & Assemble and add that DC to current service dc.
    Hope it is clear.. if not pls let me know..
    Thanks,
    Raags

  • Stop user accessing portal pages from book marks(favourites)

    Hi,
    Scenario... a user can log into portal and set pages as book marks in their browser (favourites), then close the ssession(and browser); then reopen the browser and access the page from the book mark, portal forces the user to log in (which is good) but I don't want them to have access to the page book marked, I want them to be always sent to the main page instead.
    Is it possible to stop this happening.
    Thanks in anticipation
    DG

    Hi,
    I am afraid this cant be done. The only thing is that the user will be forced to login.

  • Accessing Portal Service from web dynpro : NoClassDefFoundError

    Hello Experts,
    I tried to develop a portal service (EquiService) and a web dynpro application (wdequset) which accesses the portal service. I put my web dynpro in an IView to show it in the portal. The service is running but when I try to open the IView I always get an error. I debugged my web dynpro application and found out that I didn’t get a reference to the service (portalEquiService is always null). See the following code and have a look to my comments.
    public void wdDoInit()
        //@@begin wdDoInit()
        String key = IEquiService.KEY;
         * Here I get the right key. That’s OK so far.
    //    IEquiService portalEquiService = (IEquiService)PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService(key);
         * When I use this line to get an instance of the service, I get the following error:
         * java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sapportals/portal/prt/runtime/PortalRuntime
         * The package "com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.*" is imported
         IEquiService portalEquiService = (IEquiService) WDPortalUtils.getServiceReference(key);
          * I found this in the "How to Access a Portal Service Within a WebDynpro Java Application" document.
          * When I use this line, I get the following error:
          * java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/company/service/equi/IEquiService
          * The package "com.company.service.equi.IEquiService" is also imported.
        wdContext.currentContextElement().setEquinummer(portalEquiService.getEquiData().getEquiNr());
        //@@end
    When I have a look to the service in the portal I see that the service is running and the following additional lines under “Dependents”:
    service: psequinr|EquiService
    SAPJ2EE::company.com/wdequset
    So the service seems to know my web dynpro application (after debugging for the first time).

    and when I look in the portal (System Administration -> Support -> Portal Runtime -> Application Console), select my service and press the "show" Button, I see that the service has a dependency to my web dynpro application.
    service: psequinr|EquiService
    SAPJ2EE::company.com/wdequset
    So I think that the sharing reference of the web Dynpro should be ok. Or not?

  • Gateway for accessing Portal pages from PDA

    Hi All,
    I am working on Oracle portal and want to use the oracle 10g wireless feature for portal pages.
    As per the directions I have enabled the mobile access for my portal as could see the content from the built in PDA simulator.
    Now, I would like to view the content from the actual mobile device (PDA).
    After aquring the device, I think I need to get the Gateway provider.
    I am completely blank on how to get the Gateway Provider etc.
    I would request you all to help on this. How to go for getting Gateway Provider and how I could view the content from actual mobile device
    Thanks,

  • Access Portal Parameter from within ABAP-Web Dynpro

    Hi all,
    I have an ABAP Web Dynpro which is executed via an Web Dynpro iView in Enterprise Portal.
    How can I read the UserID of the portal user within the web dynpro? (the portal user will not be the user who called the Web Dynpro)
    Any suggestions on this?
    Thanks in advance.

    ABAP Web Dynpro developed within CRM 5.0 system
    Enterprise Portal 6.0

    Hi Diz,
    I tried doing the same thing by following the steps as mentioned by you. Just to re iterate,
    1. Created a DC "Portal Application Standalone" project by the name myservice.
    2. Created a portal service inside myservice by the ame AmitsService.
    3. Exposed IAmitsService.class in the public part.
    4 Build and deployed the DC on server and tested it through an abstract portal component and it worked FINE !!
    Now..
    5. Created anoter DC of type WebDynPro
    6. Added SAP_JTECHS -> epbc.prtapi._api as a "Used DC" with dependency build time and runtime
    7. Specified the sharing reference in the properties as PORTAL:sap.com/myservice
    8. Tried to reference the service using the following code..
    IAmitsService portalservice=(IAmitsService)WDPortalUtils.getServiceReference(IAmitsService.KEY);
    9.Build and deployed the DC.
    10. When I run the application I am getting the following error
    Processing HTTP request to servlet [dispatcher] finished with error.
    The error is: com.sap.engine.frame.core.load.SAPNoClassDefFoundError: com/sapportals/portal/prt/service/IService

  • Calling Portal APIs from Apex

    I have posted this on the application express forum as well, not sure who will come up with the answer, so here is my question anyway.
    I am trying to call the portal.wwsec_api from within an apex application. The application is parsed using the portal schema so has all the correct grants by default.
    The code I am using is:
    declare
    l_person_rec wwsec_person%rowtype;
    begin
    l_person_rec := wwsec_api.person_info
    p_user_name => 'PORTAL'
    :P3_USER_INFO:=l_person_rec.user_name || l_person_rec.first_name;
    exception
    when others then
    :p3_user_info:=sqlerrm;
    end;
    This code (minus the item references) runs fine in sqlplus, but errors when I run it in apex. I have narrowed it down to the api that is erroring as I can access the table direct.
    Can anyone help with this?
    Thanks

    I have now solved this problem. If you want to access portal apis from apex you need to set a portal context like this:
    portal.wwctx_api_private.set_context( p_user_name => 'portal'
    , p_password => 'portal');
    This shouldn't impact security as the value of p_password does not have to be your schema password it can be set to anything.

    Hi Swathi
    I'm trying to do exactly the same, i have a webdynpro application and i'm trying to access KM libraries to get the full list of metadata properties. But i'm getting and error while trying to get the service on the following code:
    Property propertyAux = null;
    IResourceFactory resFactory = ResourceFactory.getInstance();
    IRepositoryServiceFactory serFactory = resFactory.getServiceFactory();
    IPropertyConfigurationService propConfigService = (IPropertyConfigurationService) serFactory.getService("PropertyConfigurationService");
    IMetaNameListIterator i = propConfigService.getMetaModel().nameIterator();
         while (i.hasNext()) {
         IMetaName metaname = i.next();
         if ( metaname.getDocumentPatterns()!= null){
         propertyData.setId(metaname.getName());
         propertyData.setName(metaname.getLabel(locale));
         propertyData.setNamespace(metaname.getNamespace());
         propertyData.setDescription(metaname.getDescription(locale));
         propertyList.add(propertyData);
    The error on the trace is this one:

  • Portal Runtime Error Reason: Access denied

    Dear Portal Experts,
    I know you might be familiar with the error and I'm kinda frustrated with the errors. Ok these are the facts:
    I'm implementing SRM 701 - Portal
    Got this error:
    Portal runtime error.
    An exception occurred while processing your request. Send the exception ID to your portal administrator.

    Reason:         Access denied (Object(s): portal_content/com.sap.01SystemLandscape/com.sap.SAPSRM)
    If I give MANAGER1 super admin, all works. My analysis: It's only user permission problem
    I've done this:
    Everyone Group has READ permission and END USER ticked at level object (SAPSRM)
    Checking the related iView, has the same permission (obviously because it's inherited from the object SAPSRM)
    MANAGER1 has Everyone Assigned Groups
    So, everyone, is there something missing?
    Really appreciate your help

    It seems SAP_SRM is a system object. Correct? Try this:
    I assume you have already added everyone group to permissions of SAP_SRM, set it to OWNER. In addition, go to permission source and add everyone group there as well and perform the same action.
    I remember I had some Bex iViews and I had faced similar problem. It always used to work whenever I used to add user/group to permission source.

    Hi Avadh,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I tested thru connection test of the system , it was tested successflly without any issues. all are into tick mark only.
    but when i am trying to use the system alias name while creating Trasaction iview also i am not able to get the system alias name in the dropdown for selecting the system alias.
    but system alias what ever it is "BIDCLNT100" is in active and connection test is done correctly without any issues.
    Please let me know the problem why i am not able to get the same system alias name "BIDCLNT100" not able to get in the drop down list while creating the transaction IView??
    Please reply , Thanks in advance

    Once I save and deplay the model, I am getting a message 'Deployed Successfully'. But when i click on the Run <My model> link, i am not getting the Portal screen with the layout i have designed. I am getting an empty screen.
    When i do a preview for my model in the portal, I get the following error:

    Regards,

    hi Ravi,
         Check whether you have connected to a portal server. In the right hand top corner you get a small button to connect to portal server. If it says it have deployed successfully then in the contentadmin->portalcontent->visualcomposer folder you can see your iView created there.

    Hi Dominik,
    Having a closer look at the problem, we found it is not the number of users.
    It seems our JAVA components keeps the conenctions with SAP open and reopens a new one every time we start the component.
    If we finished solving the problem, I will publish the solution.
    Greetings,
    Joost
