Accessing USB drive on Home Hub 3 from Linux Mint

Hi,
I'm pretty new to Linux and am just trying out Mint on an old desktop. All is going fine except I can not access the external drive I have plugged into my Homehub 3.
If I use Dolphin (the file manager) to browse the network I can see a shortcut to 'Samba shares' from here I can go to 'Workgroup' but only my Win7 laptop and the Dell machine I am browsing from are listed.
There is an option to 'Add network folder' where I can select: "WebFolder(webdav)", "FTP", "Microsoft Windows netowrk drive", "Secure shell (ssh)" but I do not know the configuration details for any of these.
Can anyone help me to create/mount my USB network drive?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Though, not sure that was entirely what I was looking for.
Though, if I did want to access via ftp, what login details would I use?
thanks.

You would need to have home sharing enabled on Apple TV and iTunes.

They would be accessed by going to the Computers icon on Apple TV. . Your computer would need to be on and running iTunes.

  • Accessing usb drive from a connection kit

I have a thing called 'HDMI & AV Connection Kit for iPad' I plugged it into my iPad 3 and put a USB flash drive into the USB hole. How do I access the USB flash drive from the iPad? I cannot find a way to navigate to it.
If anyone knows what I do, or what app I need to get to do this I would be very grateful
    Thanks
    Dave

You can't. Not in the way I think you want it.
The CCK will only work to import photos and videos. You could put some photos on a USB drive and then import htem into your iPad. Those photos must follow a very rigid naming convention (be in a folder named DCIM and have a file name of exactly 8 characters, like DSC_4483, same with movies)
there is no protocol to import documents or the such. and there is no protocol to export anything with the CCK.

  • Re which NAS drive for home hub 3

Hi Folks I have a home hub 3 set up and want to add a NAS drive so i can link between my PC and Laptop and also access file from either when away from home useing the internet also can I connect my non wifi Cannon printer to it so as to be able to print from the laptop.
I am thinking of the WD NAS book systems is there anything better suited for connection to a HH3
    thanks in advance

I use a ZyXEL NSA210 which has a print server, web server, FTP server, and many other extras. I have found it 100% reliable, and use it with a HH1, but you can use it with any home hub.
If you search on Amazon for "ZyXEL 1-Bay Network Storage NAS Closure" you will find the new version of it at about £40.

  • USB Hdd on Home Hub 4 was working fine but has sto...

    Hi
I have been using an external USB Hdd plugged into my hub for around a year without any issues (for backing up and serving music to SONOS), but recently it stopped being visible to all devices.  My assumption was that it had gone pop but took it out and plugged it into my laptop and all is functioning perfectly.
Looking onto the HH4 with my browser it's showing
M3 Portable (Rev: 3) (File type not supported)
I've read some of the other threads here (most relate to HH3 and Fat formating) but they don't sem to be the same issue as this HDD was working fine and is not faulty in any way.
Has there been a HH4 update that has stopped this working but has a solution?
    thanks

Thanks for that tip but unfortunately no progress.
The USB hdd received power and started spinning on the home hub being reset ok - but not visible on the laptop still.
One thing - if you go to the HH manager screen on the browser and ask it to safely disconnect the USB device it states it can't as it's running even though nothing is trying to access the drive at that time.....may not be relevant

  • How can I access USB drive on AirPort Extreme with iPad

Good day. I recently purchased an AirPort Extreme, and am very pleased. I thought I would take advantage of the ability to store files and videos of my children on my USB drive on the router. Installation was flawless, however, i cannot access the USB drive with my IPad. I have seen several postings about this, am i correct in reading that this is not possible without a 3rd party app? If that is the case, could someone point me in the right direction?

Have you tried this? (And is the Airport new enough that you can call Apple?)
*Manually mounting Mac OS Extended (HFS+) volumes*
*From the Finder's Go menu choose Connect to Server.*
*Enter the AirPort Extreme Base Station's LAN IP address (by default 10.0.1.1).*
*Enter the username and password required to access the AirPort Disk(s).*
*Select the desired AirPort Disk(s) from the available Volumes.*
    *Manually mounting FAT16/FAT32 volumes*
*From the Finder's Go menu choose Connect to Server.*
*Enter the AirPort Extreme Base Station's LAN IP address preceded by smb:// (for example, smb://10.0.1.1 )*
*Enter the username and password required to access the AirPort Disk(s). Leave the Workgroup field empty unless you have assigned one in AirPort Utility.*
*Select the desired AirPort Disk from the available CIFS (Common Internet File System) volumes*

  • How to access USB drive on e4200 remotely

    Hello,
I recently bought a e4200 v2 and installed connect cloud. I have attached a USB drive to the router. I can connect to it by mapping a network drive on my windows 7 laptop. I can also access it as a media server through my iPad on the local wifi network. This way I can play the music on the USB drive through the iPad. The next thing I would like to accomplish is to be able to listen to the music on the USB drive through the internet (so remotely). Is that even possible?
    Regards and thanks,
    Steven

Hi there. That is actually possible. When you open your CCC go to USB Storage and set Enable FTP Server to ON. It is important as well to have a public internet ip address on the router which means coming from your internet service provider. For other cases, it is static so that it will not change. Are you by the way on Cable internet or DSL internet service? If you are example on DSL internet and your internet ip address from your ISP is private (192.168.1.4) then remotely accessing anything from your router is not possible you have to set the dsl modem to full bridge in order for it to work. To verify your internet ip address using CCC, go to Connectivity on the side panel and it comes up with a page and click on Internet Settings up on top.   And say you wish to access the music files on your windows 7 laptop remotely, you have to set a static ip address to that computer and forward port 21 (default for ftp) on the router. Usually the address that you will type in on the address bar on your remote device is ftp://publicwanip. By the way, you may refer to the links below I found from Cisco's public kb site.

  • Can a time machine usb drive backup the data from an external usb drive connected to and airport extreme*

can a time machine usb drive conected to my mac book backup the data from an external usb drive connected to and airport extreme ?

Hi Adam, if you think yoiur HD may be failing you could do a TM restore onto the new disk. I would rather see you do a clone either SuperDuper or CarbonCopy Cloner.Of your internal drive. That way you have a bootable backup in case it does fail.
btw - what are the symptoms of your failing drive?

  • E1550 - unable to access USB drive with Ubuntu

I am probably overlooking something real obvious but after screwing around for two hours I figure I need some help.
I am running Ubuntu 14.04. I have set up the E1550 router with an external drive that I formatted with the router utility. At this point I do NOT have an internet connection hooked to the router - I am not sure I want to for now. What I would like to do is to be able to access, wirelessly, a drive that multiple users can use to back up their important files onto.
I have tried using anonymous disk read/write access as well as creating shares. All the features seem to be setting up ok but at this point I have no clue how to access the drive.
I have tried using the Ubuntu files utility and then selecting 'browse network' followed by selecting 'windows network'. Alas, 'windows network' is an empty file with no drive present.
I have tried accessing the router wirelessly and also hard wired - no joy.
Am I maybe not acessing the drive properly through Ubuntu? Do I need to mount the remote drive rather than accessing it through the windows network ?
Thanks in advance for any pointers given !
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am not expert with Ubuntu OS but have you tried to map the drive on your computer? I have no idea how to do that using Ubuntu but if you're using Windows or Mac, you can simply follow the steps from Linksys KB. It usually helps me when I am trying to enable file-sharing capabilities within my network.

  • Accessing Firewire Drives on a Mac from a Networked PC

    Hello everyone!
I recently set up a network consisting of my mac and a pc. It works fine, but I am trying to access files on my mac external hard drives from the PC.
On a PC this would be easy enough to do, namely just right click and press share this folder. When I called apple support, they said there is no built in OSX way of doing something like this. He suggested that someone on the boards might know a trick or a 3rd party utility to make this work.
So I was wondering... Is there any way to access external hard drives on a mac from a networked pc in any way? Help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

  • File transfer to K-1 from Linux Mint

    Hi,
I've had my K-1 for just two days now and it's prompted me for updates 5 or 6 time What's with that? It seems that at least one of these bumped me up to Android 3.2.
Right now my main issue is that when I plug the usb cable to my laptop to transfer files to the K-1 the laptop does not see the K-1. The laptop is a Lenovo X-60 with two hard drives and four OS's. Primary OS is Linux Mint9 (Isadora) and that's where I can't connect via USB. I was able to send files one at a time using BT. When I boot into Windows 7 I can connect via the usb cable.
The second hard disk has WinXP Pro and Bodhi Linux but I haven't even tried connecting via those OS's.
I don't have this problem when I plug a usb cable into my G2 Android phone or browsing the phone via BT. But the K-1 is invisible except for single file transfers (right click/send to/K-1 via BT/). I've used it to install a few APK's that I couldn't find on the Market.

First, download the desired update from Lenovo's OTA repository.  There will be a zip file and perhaps also an xml file with the same filename.  Download both, and place them in the K1's "Download" directory.  NOT the "Downloads" directory.
Rename them to update.zip and (if present, update.xml)
power down the K1, then press and hold the volume up button and then press and hold the power button.  Keep holding them both until the K1 enters recovery mode, then release.  Let the K1 do its thing.  It may reboot several times.
Note, it may take a few tries to get into recovery mode, so don't give up.
Note also that the K1 will delete the update.* files from the Download directory, so keep a copy of them elsewhere.
    Good luck!

  • Plug in Seagate USB drive and status goes from green to yellow

This is somewhat different from what others have posted.
When I plug in or turn on my Seagate 160 gig drive on the base station USB, the status light switches to yellow and no more wireless. The disk works when direct connected to the iMac. Epson printer works fine in the base station USB.
    Anybody have these symptoms?
    Rick

It is formatted FAT32 and works fine on my PC (I recently jumped ship to Mac) and connected to the iMac.
I don't understand your final comment. Once the disk goes 'ready', the wireless is down and I can no longer access the base station. If I turn the Seagate off, the light goes green again in about 5 seconds.
To anticipate: no, I have not yet attempted to 'talk' to the base via hard wired ethernet. That is, I have not seen any error text.

  • Air cannot access USB Drive on OS X

I am having a problem seeing a connected USB thumb drive in
the fileSystemTree under OS X. I can see the drive when i run the
app under Linux or Windows, however i just cannot find the
connected drive in OS X. anybody have any suggestions, or
    workarounds?

ok so i found a work around for this issue. apparently in OS
X you can't see all the drives mounted when using air by default.
to get around this i just created a new file and resolved the path
to "file:///Volumes/" this takes you to the "volumes" folder to
which you can access all mounted drives on your system. if you are
using a filesystemtree, as i was, you can then set the "directory"
property to this newly created file. now you will see all your
mounted drives (usb storage drives included) in your
    filesystemtree!
