Accessing VPN Network
Hi, I realise that this question may have been asked before in one form or another as there are a lot of VPN discussions but I followed all the recommendations but don't seem to get anywhere so thought I'd try to explain my specific issue.
I've got an iMac and a MacBook all connecting to the Internet via the latest Apple Airport Extreme. I've recently starting working from home using my work laptop, which runs Windows XP and uses the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client. The work laptop connects fine to the AirPort and I can also log into the VPN Network, and do very basic things, such as checking my e-mail and going on the Intranet. But that is where it all stops. I can't open any files stored on the server and so on and each time I try to, after a few minutes I get an error message saying that I'm disconnected from the disk.
I am usuing a Drytek modem, which plugs into the back of the AirPort, with the Airport doing all the 'hard work' such as connecting to the network, NAT is ticked and all that.
When I remove the Airport from the equation plug my normal ISP provided router into, I don't have any issues at all - either using the router's WiFi connection or plugging it into the back of the AirPort and connecting through the AirPort's WiFi connection.
This, obiovusly, is not ideal as I don't fancy playing around with my set-up all the time, not least as all the hardware is located in a rather difficult to get to area so I was hoping to be able to just use my standard set-up and connect to my work's VPN network using the AirPort, also getting rid of the ISP provided modem as that only offer Wireless G, which is not the most reliable either.
I was hoping that someone might be able to advise on a) if I'm able to actually use the AirPort to work from home and b) if so, what settings I have to change. EAch of my WiFi devices have a 'static' IP allocated to them through the AirPort so that's not changing, and I've tried to set the Airport to either distribute 10.0 and 194. addresses, as somewhere I read that this may cause issues, but it doesn't help at all.
What confuses me is that I can, with my original set up, use the Intranet and E-mail (Lotus Notes) and my work's IM service but that's all. I always thought if VPN doesn't work, nothing will rather than parts of it. I've checked everything with my work and they can't think of any solution either - and don't really support Apple products. But I guess the fact that it works through my ISP's provided modem (and even an old Netgear Router I have tried), makes me think that it's something to do with some setting on the AirPort that I haven't found yet :S.
Any advise is greatly appreciated.
Logging in from home using using the VPN client on my work laptop while being connected to the Internet via my ISP router (or I'd imagine any other router apart from the AirPort), I can effectively replicated everything I'm able to do in the office, that is if I want to print a document, I can send that to the printer at work etc, access all the files on any of the 5 network drives I'm mapped to and all that. While if I use the Airport, all I can do is opening my Lotus Notes, check my e-mail and send e-mails and browse the Intranet, but that's all.
The fact that you can access your work's email system from your work laptop at home does indicate that you have a successful VPN tunnel created between the two locations.
Looking at the AirPort Utility, under the Advance tap, there is a IPv6 option which currently sits as Link-local only. In the drop down menu, the following options do appear: Host, Tunnel, Router. Is that perhaps something I would need to have a play around with to manage to log into my work network via the Cisco AnyConnect and the AirPort?
No, the IPv6 setting is something totally different than the VPN connection, and you can safely ignore these settings for now. "Link-local only" would be the default setting for the AirPorts.
I should have maybe mentioned that I am still connected via WiFi to the Airport, with the ISP router plugged into the back of of the Airport, with the Airport set into Bridge Mode so I guess the ISP's router is doing all the work. My preferred set-up - is using the Drytek Modem and having the connection as PPoE with NAT enabled on the Airport, but with that set up, I can't do anything apart from e-mails and intranet.
Ah, yes. When configured as a bridge, the AirPort Extreme is a "passive" device. It is not providing any router functions at all ... but, instead, is performing as a combination wireless access point and Ethernet switch. Your ISP router would be handling the VPN tunnel.

ASA 5505 VPN can't access connected network
I have an ASA 5505 with ipsec VPN configured on it. I am able to connect to the ASA but I can't ping a connected network. I get a dhcp assigned address in the network I am trying to reach but can't access that network on Vlan5. Please help.

VPN Clients can't access DMZ Network
Hello,
I will try to describe my problem as best as possible. The title says VPN clients cannot access DMZ network, but that is not exactly the problem, the situation is this, a group of users are using an actual 10.x network where they have their servers and pretty much everything. The users must be relocated into a new network, the 172.16.x. In a point in time they will not have to use 10.x anymore, but meanwhile, they need access to that network.
I have an ASA 5510 as default gateway for the new network (172.16.x.x), one interface e0/0 connected to the outside (internet), interface e0/1 to the inside and other interface connected to the actual 10.x (which I call DMZ), so basically I am using the ASA as a bridge using NAT to grant access to the users in the network 172.16.x to the resources in the 10.x network while the migration is completed.
All the users must use the path to the internet thru the ASA using the NAT overload to the outside interface and I put in place a NAT policy to 10.x to allow access to the 10.x network only when the internal users 172.16.x try to reach that path and so far, everything is working just fine for the internal users.
Now for some reason, when I do VPN, the VPN clients cannot reach the 10.x network, even when they are supposed to be in the internal network (because they are doing VPN right?) .
I have enabled split tunneling with NAT exempt the 172.16 network and I am not sure if that is causing the problem, because when I trace from my PC the 172.16.16.1 address using the VPN I get the proper route path, but when I try to reach 10.x, my PC is using its default gateway and not the VPN gateway which has a route to 10.x.
I’m not even sure if what I am trying to do is possible, I want VPN users to be able to access a 10.x network using NAT overload with the Interface of the ASA plugged to the 10.x network, just like the internal users are doing right now.
Any help or advice will be highly appreciated.Allow clients to access DMZ, add exempt NAT rule, add both the "same-security-traffic" thru cli. Please give it a try.

ASA 5505 VPN Network access problem
I have been working on this thing all night and I can't seem to get any where. I have a very straight forward set up, and so far the only issue I'm having is being able to access the network when connected through VPN, I have internet access, but nothing else and it's really strange.
Here is my config, I thought this would be a pretty straight forward set up, and I got everything else up and running with in a few minutes, but not being able to access the network via VPN is frustrating after I have tried all night to get it to work. I have read a lot of stuff online, and I keep on thinking im close but never get anywhere. Any help is appreciated.

try this:

And remove those dodgy "static (inside,inside)" NATs!
I recommend staying with tunnelling everything.
You should tighten "access-list T1_access_in" because at the moment all IP is allowed from the internet to those "static (inside,T1)" NATs.
If you put "no sysopt connection permit-vpn" then all VPN traffic is forced through "access-list T1_access_in" - an easy way of filtering it.
I would tighten "access-list inside_access_in" but unapply and remove "access-list inside_access_out". -
Remote Access VPN - Unable to Access LAN / Inside Network

I am facing a problem with Cisco ASA remote access VPN, the remote client is connected to VPN and receiving IP address but the client is not able to ping or telnet any internal network.

Are you saying that originally the VPN Client user is behind the Jeddah ASA?
If this is true wouldnt it be wiser to just use the already existing L2L VPN between these sites?
In real situation I think the VPN Client would only be needed when you are outside either Head Quarter or Jeddah Network. And since you tested it infront of the ASA and it worked there shouldnt be any problem.
Now to the reason why the VPN Client isnt working from behind the Jeddah ASA.
Can you check that the following configuration is found on the Jeddah ASA (Depending on the software level of the ASA the format of the command might change. I'm not 100% sure)
isakmp nat-traversal To enable NAT traversal globally, check that ISAKMP is enabled (you can enable it with the isakmp enable command) in global configuration mode and then use the isakmp nat-traversal command. If you have enabled NAT traversal, you can disable it with the no form of this command.

I have a customer that has a ASA 5510 version 8.3 with IPSEC Client Access that includes some of their networks on the Inside interface. The issue they are having is when their mobile users connect with the vpn client (which is using split tunneling), they can no longer access their web server applications that are running in the DMZ. Without the client connected, they access the web servers via the external public IP. Once they are connected via vpn, their default dns server becomes the internal AD DNS server, which resolves the DNS of the web servers to the private DMZ ip address.
Can a Remote Access VPN client connection be allowed to connect to both the DMZ interface and the Inside Interface? I had always only setup RA VPN clients to connect to networks on the Inside Interface.
I tried adding the DMZ network to the Split Tunnel list, but I could not access anything it while connected to vpn using the private IP addresses.Yes, you should be able to access DMZ subnets as well if they are added to the split tunnel ACL. You could check the NAT exemption configuration for the DMZ and also check if the ASA is forwarding the packet through DMZ interface by configuring captures on the DMZ interface.

I am using Cisco vpn 5.0.07.0440-k9 and Cisco vpn 5.0.07.0290-k9 both version on our windows 8.1 pro laptop.
VPN successfully connected but not access remote network and not getting ping.
But when i am try through wifi then vpn good work.
Please help me as soon as possible.

I am using "MTS usb wifi" device and connect vpn through wifi Its working good the same win8.1 pro. But when i am try to connect VPN through LAN/Wired or USB modem (Like: Vodafone,MTS and others) its not working.
I am using Easy vpn on Cisco RV325 router in our office. Same VPN client is very good working in Windows 7 SP1 and Windows XP SP3.

Ok so that's what I'm aiming for so now the question.
They are allowing me to purchase a next Generation Firewall may be a Barracuda NG firewall or a Cisco ASA X series so I need some advice on what type of network topology I should configure. I've read that using the two NIC configuration for
the 2012 R2 Direct Access Server is preferable, one nic on the internal network one on the perimeter. The problem I have with this is that it bridges the internal network and the perimeter bypassing the backend Firewall see image
The other alternative is to dispense with the perimeter network use the Direct Access server with a single NIC and setup the NG Firewall in a three-legged config with the DA server on the DMZ.
So all you security experts out there what would be your design for this simple domain? we don't need any HA or Load Balancing.

SimonOk I'm not sure we are going to get any advice on this subject but one last effort. Our budget can only stretch to one next generation firewall so I'm considering the following three legged firewall design with a two NIC 2012 R2 Direct
Access server. If someone could validate this configuration or suggest an alternative then I would be grateful. -
Unable to access internal networks over Remote acces VPN

I have set up a Remote access VPN from Home to Cisco ASA 5512-X.
I am able to connect successfully and even getting a valid IP address from VPN pool 172.21.3.1-. However I am unable to access any of the internal resources.

You seem to have this nat (inside,outside1) source dynamic VLAN1 interface at line 2 which is causing the identity Nat/ Nat exempt to fail.
It is always good to use the packet tracer feature on the ASA to see what exactly is happening.

Remote Access VPN Clients Cannot Access inside LAN
I have been asked to set up remote access VPN on an ASA 5505 that I previously had no invlovement with. I have set it up the VPN using the wizard, they way I normally do, but the clients have no access to anything in the inside subnet, not even the inside interface IP address of the ASA. Thay can ping each other. The remote access policy below that I am working on is labeled VPNPHONE, address pool 172.16.20.1-10. I do not need split tunneling to be enabled. The active WAN interface is the one labeled outside_cable.

You have your "group-policy" set so that you have excluding some networks from being tunneled.
In this access-list named Local_LAN_Access you specify "0.0.0.0"
Doesnt this mean you are excluding all networks from being tunneled? In other words no traffic goes to your tunnel.
This access-list should only contain your local LAN network from where you are connecting with the VPN Client. If you dont need to access anything on your local LAN while having the VPN on, you don't even need this setting on. You could just tunnel all traffic instead of excluding some networks.

Remote access VPN-unable to connect inside-URGENT
Hi,
I have configured Remote access VPN in cisco ASA 5520.Whenever I am trying to connect from outside it's connecting fine.It aslo getting IP from pool but prob is i am unable to connect/ping inside nw.
Pls help me...how to resolve this issue.I had the same problem on an IOS router (871). My solution was one of two things. I downloaded the most up-to-date version of the VPN client (5.0.02.90) as opposed to the version I had or it was a software firewall (Norton 360). I have two different computers. One works just fine...the other connects but no traffic passes through. Here is what I have:
Computer 1 (working)- VPN Client v5.0.02.0090 and Network Associates Enterprise VirusScan.
Computer 2 (not working) - VPN Client v5.0.00.0340 and Norton 360.
I highly doubt it is the VPN Client, but sometimes you never know. Check your software firewall and try disabling it. Let me know how this works. -
Problem with Remote Access VPN on ASA 5505
I am currently having an issue configuring an ASA 5505 to connect via remote access VPN using the Cisco VPN Client 5.0.07.0440 running on Windows 8 Pro x64. The VPN client prompts for the username and password during the connect process, but fails soon after.

Remote Access VPN authentication through RADIUS
Hi,
I have configured remote access VPN (IPsec) in my Cisco ASA . Before there was only single username & password to for VPN client. Now I am planning to give access through RADIUS server. I have configured RADIUS server in WIN 2003 server.
Server configuration:
1) Administrative Tools > Internet Authentication Service and right-click on RADIUS Client to add a new RADIUS client with ip address of CISCO ASA (inside interface).
2) Remote Access Policies, right-click on Connections to Other Access Servers, and select Properties.
3) check Grant Remote Access Permissions is selected.Click Edit Profile and check these settings:On the Authentication tab, check Unencrypted authentication (PAP, SPAP), MS-CHAP,and MS-CHAP-v2.ï On the Encryption tab, ensure that the option for No Encryption is selected.Click OK when you are finished.
4.Select Administrative Tools > Computer Management > System Tools > Local Users and Groups, right-click on Users and select New Users to add a user into the local computer account.Add a user and check this profile information:On the General tab, ensure that the option for Password Never Expired is selected instead ofthe option for User Must Change Password.
On the Dial-in tab, select the option for Allow access
ASA configuration:

somAlso, take a look at your logs on the windows server, and try debugging the asa. Try running wireshark or network monitor on the windows server to see if the requests are coming in. You should be able to figure out pretty quickly what is going on by debugging aaa on the asa and/or checking the logs on the server. Make sure the service is running on the windows box. Make sure that something stupid like windows firewall isnt blocking the connection. You can turn on debugging by typing "debug aaa" and type "logging console debugging" and "term mon". You can test aaa by typing "test aaa-server authentication vpn host x.x.x.x username someusername password somepassword"
Hopefully this will lead you in the right direction. Oh, one more thing, when you are done, don't forget to turn off the debug by typing "undebug all". Another word of warning, running debugs on a production firewall should be done at your own risk, it is very easy to overwhelm a device to the point it stops responding by running debugs. -
Remote Access VPN on Cisco ASA Problem

Problem is that my internet has stopped working, and default route is just showing stars.
i can ping internal server 10.110.10.150 fine , which i allowed on VPN ACL, but my other traffic not going to regular internet on my laptop,
what additional required to force my internet to go to regular internet instead of getting encrypted?
