Accessories: FM transmitter, headphones,

In previous posts regarding fm transmitters, i have stated that I was using the iRock, and that it was working fine. I am now rescinding every recommendation for that product I have ever given. After about 2 months of daily use with my ZT, the stereo plug got flaky, resulting in loss of sound in one channel. this is due to the design of the product. the plug is connected to a 8" semi-rigid rubber lead that connects to the transmitter itself. by picking the player up to change songs, the weight of the transmitter against the semi-rigid lead caused the plug to get loose over time. thank god it didnt mess up the jack on the player itself. i had to shell out $50 for the Monster Cable RadioPlay Car Stereo Wireless FM Transmitter. I can already tell that this product has a smarter design that will not cause the problem I had with the iRock. I have also already noticed that the transmission is cleaner and better sounding, and it has 8 selectable channels instead of just 4. I also picked up the Sony MDR-EX7SL/WK (White). They sound great, and the m extension cable that it comes with will allow me to keep the extension plugged in at all times and simply switch between my Creative TravelSound speakers, the FM transmitter, and the headphones without constantly wearing on the jack on the player itself. Thats my opinion (for now), and I'm sticking to it (for now)!Message Edited by flyer608 on 02-0-2005 04:09 AM

For what it's worth I hear good things about the AudiaX transmitter, should you have any problems with the Monster.
Great idea to use the extension cable on the earbuds also!

  • N97 headset recognising as tv out and not as heads...

I recently purchased a MIE2 bose mobile headset. whenever i connect my headset it defaults to tv out.
It doesn't give me options to select it as an headset.
I tried doing a soft reset on my N97 and still didn't work.
Note: My nokia headset provided with phone works fine
I also tried apple headset as well with N97 and had the same problem. Looks to be an issue with non nokia headsets
Any suggestions from experts would be greatly appreciated??

Try going to Settings> Phone> Accessories> tap on "Headphone" >then tap on options then> set as default
By default it should be set as headset... It might work it might not i don't know... For me i use Sennheiser cx200 everyday for music it works perfectly without problems... But when i use iPhone earphone it won't work at all. it recognises as a tv out just like what happened to yours
So just try your luck... Hope it helps

  • N97 mini, problems with Cellular Line portable blu...

    Hi everyone!
I just bought a portable bluetooth hands-free by Cellular Line for my N97 mini but, as soon as I registered it, I had problems. In fact when I received a phone call my phone started ringing, while the bluetooth didn't and I could only answer from my phone... The hands-free didn't work because I found out that the cell phone saw the bluetooth as an headset! How can I solve this problem???

  • N8 Headset or 3.5mm port problem???

    Hey guys,
I got some problem with my N8, when I am trying to plug in 3.5mm jack to my phone there is no option to choose hedset, headphones, TV-OUT or music stand. and music is coming from loudspeaker. So i am thinking that phone do not recognize any hedset pluged in. Everything works fine when i plug in regular earphones without any microphone.
so anyone got familier problem or jus only me? Thank you for your advise ))

Goto Menu Settings Phone Accessories and set Headphones as default.
It has alteady been speculated on other threads that you should push in the jack as fast and hard as possible.
    Cheers.

  • Ipod 2nd gen 8gig return

i bought the 2nd gen ipod touch 8 gig on friday morning.  its now saturday night and all of the space is filled up. i was wondering if i can return and just pay the difrence for the 16 gig.  basicaly im wondering if i can return it even though theres tv shows and music on it already. i think all i would have to do is hit the restore button on my itunes... its only been 2 days
    thanks in advance

Yeah, that's no problem. Just make sure all included accessories (USB cable, headphones, dock adapter) are with it. You don't have to delete the content off it if you don't feel like it. If it's marked as an open item, GS performs a restore anyways.

  • Nokia 5800 earphone issue

hiii i,m using nokia 5800 xpressmusic from a long time
the problem i,m facing is when i connect my earphones to it then it says tv out connected can you please help me out

    arshadk786,
May I kindly ask what headphones are you using to connect your 5800 with?
Go to Menu> Settings> Phone> Accessories > Try setting "headphones/headset" as the default. Also try inserting the headphone jack half-way until the phone says headset connected, then insert it fully afterwards.
If that doesn't help, either the headphone socket contains dirt or became faulty.
    Good luck

  • Looking for a bluetooth headphone for my Macbook Air and Ipad Mini, I am not looking for a headphone that needs a transmitter to be connected to the source rather a headphone that can be connected directly via bluetooth to the source device

I am desperately looking for a bluetooth headphone that would be compatible to my Macbook air and Ipad mini both. I am more of looking for a headphone that does not need a transmitter device to be connected to the source (in this case Macbook Air and Ipad Mini) and headphone acting as a receiver, rather need a headphone that would be connected directly via bluetooth to the source, it would be great if multiple apple devices be connected simultaneously. Please suggest some good headphones.

Hey sorry for the late reply, I was busy to figure out alternatives as harman kardon was a difficult affair to find and acquire, but the good news is I managed to get hold of alternative.
Sony I assume recently launched a Bluetooth headphone DR-BTN200 which is compatible to my MacBook Air , iPad mini and android phone galaxy s2 with ease, the sound quality is pretty good as compared to other brands of Bluetooth headphones I checked compatible or incompatible to apple devices alike, this is definitely what I was looking for, costed me 7990 INR, this is highly recommended for ppl who are confused, I carried my devices to the store and checked before I bought a pair and pretty much happy,
The best part of this is its battery backup, I have used this hours for 3-5 days but this has not drain even then, but I do keep this charging once in 2-3 days just to keep this ready otherwise it does not even ask for it neither the quality of sound drops after 2-3 days of use.
This is over the ear headphone which is very soft but it's get sweaty around the ear I guess that's bound to happen.
Do get back to me for any other details, would be glad to share with all :)

  • New 5thG nano compatible with 4thG car charger/fm transmitter accessories?

As said in the subject, I was wondering +if anyone knows yet+ if the car charger/fm transmitters made for the 4th Generation Nanos are compatible with the new 5th Generation? If so, what's the most reliable charger/transmitter?

I have a FM transmitter which I use with a 2nd Gen Nano and it also works with a 5th Gen Nano. Hence I would assume a transmitter which worked with a 4th gen also works with a 5th gen. After all, it is all about the connector and that is always the same.
    Hope this helps.

  • VERY DISSAPOINTED at the lack of accessori

Very, very, very dissapointed at the complete lack of accessories for the Creative line. I own a creative micro photo 8 gb which I purchased two days ago. I started out with the Sleek photo, but was very dissapointed in the sound quality. I used 4 different set's of headphones, and they all sounded like garbage. I exchanged it for the creative zen microphoto, and what a world of difference in sound quality, using those same headphones I had used before.
Now, I want to listen in my car. The creative site advertises the belkin tunecast fm transmitter. The store I bought it from had it, so i bought it too. This too, was a dissapointment, as 88. was a dead station in my area and my sirius unit broadcasts crystal clear to this station. With my sirius unit off, and unplugged, i attached the belkin tunecast to the creative and heard a lot of static and garbage. I didn't matter where I moved the tunecast and the player too, it was not clear, had a lot of static, and was again, another dissapointment.
I guess I'm done with creative. Sadly, I love the X-fi line of sound cards, as I have the the extreme music version. However, the lack of support for any sort of car dock, to hardwire the player into the stereo, or any sort of decent fm transmitter that fits on the creative player (like the i trip) is going to make me *dry heaves* buy an IPOD.
I REALLY like the player itself. I am dissapointed that none of the creative accessories (what few there are) were carried in ANY retail store. Wal-mart, Best Buy, Circuit city, none of those had ANYTHING. No cases, no speakers, nothing. Come on Creative, get it together. You came halfway and made a great player, now follow through and offer supporting accessories. -
Someone, please enlighten me as to other resources I can use to hardware my player, or at least a decent fm transmitter.

JK23 no offense, but I am not lugging around a huge set of speakers that requires AC Power. What I am referring too is a powered speaker system that has a built in dock. One simple piece of equipment that I can stick in a suit case that requires no AC power, but runs on batteries. Yeah I know about the travel speakers and I also could go out and buy a boombox that has an aux-input. But guess what JK, if I had an iPod I wouldn't have to do either of those because there are dozens of companies that make power speakers systems with a built in dock. Creative made a nice one for the Zen Micro, but you'd think with the ZV:M being their Cadillac they would have been smart enough to realize they needed to make one for it.
The fact is there is no powered speaker system with dock for the ZV:M because creative doesn't make one and apparently no one else in the industry has any incenti've to do so. I won't except excuses and I darn sure won't make any for them, nor will I suggest that someone buy something else, when clearly that isn't what they want.
I could buy a set of computer speakers anywhere, but that isn't what I want and if I had an iPod that isn't what I'd have to settle for, so I hope this clears that up. I know I am being rather blunt, so don't get offended, just setting the record straight.

  • Need help with accessories for new 4th Generation Nano-speakers, etc

I just purchased the new 16GB 4th generation nano and I want accessories to play with it but am concerned with compatibility and charing issues. I am new to this so my questions may not make sense!
    1. I am looking for speakers and the Logitech Anywhere Speakers have good reviews. Will I be able to play my Nano with these and charge it? If not, what ones will that are reasonably priced?
    2. What accessory can I use to play my nano in my car (older model) that will also charge it? Or are there no accessories for this as of yet.
    3. If I want to plug it into a stereo, I only need the mini/RCA cable converter, correct?
    4. To plug into the wall, I need the USB adapter-but do I need a dock as well?
Thank you and sorry for such simple questions! This is my first iPod! :-D

    2. If you have a cassette adaptor with the 3.5mm audio plug and want to also charge your iPod. You can plug it into a Griffin AutoPilot.
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/autopilot
For the car with no tape or aux you need an FM transmitter, if your in a city with a lot of stations you will get interferance (I was glad to dump mine when I got a new car). Most are 12 volt! The Griffin iTrip has 5 volt charge and works with the iPod Nano 4th Gen.
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itripautopilot
Griffin seems to be one of the few companies that switched to 5 volt charging some time ago.
    3. A line out cable is something like this...
    http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-35507-Connector-Cable/dp/B000JG3WBY/ref=sr111?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1221776257&sr=1-11
Better then using the headphone jack to hook up to a stereo.
    4. For the dock a 3.5mm to RCA cable should be all you need to get line out to your stereo.

  • Car cassette adapter vs. fm transmitter

I have a cassette adapter for my ipod. It stinks. The sound quality is poor, and, the cassette gets stuck in the cassette deck. The wire from the cassette adapter gets tangled and caught in the ashtray. Having had such a bad experience with the cassette adapter, I plan on purchasing an fm transmitter. I also like the idea of being able to play the ipod through an indoor stereo system when I'm at home or at someone else's home. I want a wireless, reasonably priced model with a car charger, but not one that requires the car charger itself to transmit. I've looked at a number of them. Maxell looks promising as does Belkin, Griffin, xtrememac and xtremeplay, but which one. I don't even want to hear an argument for another cassette adapter and I don't want to pay an arm and leg for something that I will probably replace in a year or so when the second or third generation of video ipods comes out. I've read the info in this and other forums but they are cluttered and people tend to promote what they have. Any helpful information would be appreciated.

b Various Methods to Connect to a Car Stereo System, or Listen to Your iPod in the Vehicle
    b Best:
Direct connection via the dock connector or headphone jack of your iPod, to the mini-jack input (or AUX RCA input jacks) of your car stereo. Not many low/moderate-end cars have this feature yet, but it is becoming more popular. Some aftermarket auto stereo units may have this feature.
There are also some after-market, moderate to fairly expensive direct interfaces, that hook into your existing car stereo to provide a high-quality, direct connection. Most will also power/charge the iPod. Pretty slick, but can be pricey ($80-$300). If money is no object, a clean way to go. Not very portable from car to car – if at all.

    http://www.theistore.com/ipod2car.html
    http://www.mp3yourcar.com/
    b Better:
Connect your iPod to a cassette adaptor and play your tunes through your car's cassette player. Some new cars no longer come with a cassette player, so it may not be an option. It will provide even better audio quality if you can run the audio feed out of the dock connector (see the SendStation link below). Can be portable between cars that have a cassette player and also be used in your home cassette system.
    b Good:
Attach an FM transmitter to your iPod and play the tunes through an unused FM station. Convenient, but wireless FM transmitter signals are susceptible to static and outside interference, and can vary in strength and quality depending on your location. Some noticeable degradation and distortion, depending on the quality of the transmitter, the sensitivity of your ears and the airwave congestion in your area. Highly portable between cars, and may be used in a home system. FM transmitters that need to be plugged into a DC auto jack may not work in a home environment (without some sort of adaptor).
    b Marginal:
Attach an external speaker system to the iPod and play it in the car. Workable, but not too good - unless you spring for a $300+ Bose (or similar) system. But why? Only if your vehicle has no Stereo system, perhaps.
    b Brave Techno-Geek:
This site gives some direction on adapting your own car stereo by yourself: http://www.whatsmyip.org/ipodrx8/ . Risky, but it has been successfully done by a forum member.
Whichever you choose, power the iPod through your car’s DC power -- either from a power adapter, or as part of the combined audio adaptor. Have a method to secure the iPod to the dash/console/etc. See the reviews for all the various accessories at the iLounge
You will also get better audio output if the dock connection plug is used, rather than the headphone jack. See this URL for a novel adaptor: https://www.sendstation.com/us/products/pd_lousb.html. Others types are also available via this site.
I have read positive and negative reviews of each method, and within method there are great variations in performance of different manufacture's systems – and peoples’ opinions of their performance. Some cassette adaptors/FM transmitters work poorly, some better.
FWIW: I have the iTrip Mini & the Newer Technology RoadTrip!+ FM transmitters, a Belkin cassette adaptor (used both with & w/out the PocketDock) and two vehicles with the BlitzSafe direct interface. Using the same song in the same car, I found that the FM transmitters worked, but not as good as the cassette adapter via the headphone jack. Using the PocketDock on the cassette adapter resulted in a significant audio quality improvement. As expected, the Blitzsafe direct connect was exceptionally better than everything else: less tinny, a more warmer/richer sound, and close to true CD quality.
