Accessories for iPod

Does the 1st Generation accessories work with 2nd generation iPods? Thank You

The new ipod ear-buds are flimsy. They keep falling out of my ears...they wont stay put...even the wind can blow them off. The original ones are better. A note to all, avoid the $60 ear-buds for ipod...they are a waste of money. I spend more time trying to keep them in place than enjoying the sound they offer.

  • Will the accessories for iPod with click wheel 20G work with the new gen?

    Hi,
I have a iPod with click wheel 20GB and am considering to get a new one, iPod with video 40GB or 80GB. Can I still use the following iPod accessories for 20GB one?
    - dock
    - USB power adapter
    Thanks.

I know a iPod comes with a usb cord but I would like to use the USB power adapter I have so I can charge iPod during travel with computer/laptop.
It seems to me that the connector in USB power adapter is a regular USB type B connector. But, I could not find the information to confirm it is a regular USB type B. Even it is the regular USB type B connector it does not work with the a usb cord shipped with iPod, which is a USB type A connector. That's the reason I would like to know if I can use it with new generation of iPod.
Or, I can just get a USB connector converter. But, not sure if it can supply the enough power to ...
B.t.w., the model number of the power adapter is A1070.

  • Accessories For IPod Touch 5G?

Hello, this is RJ Micheal which is my real name. I just wanna know if the new iPod touch (5G) will cases, screen protesters & more accessories be available on October?

This is a user-to-user forum. You care not addressing Apple here, we are just users like yourself.
Basted on the past, I would expect a limited number or accessories will be available when the iPod arrives.

  • Ipod cable/accessories for Zen sleek

I don't know why Creative decide to use a new connection for Zen Sleek instead of the standard mini 5 pin USB2 connection.
While looking for a new cable (and a compact car charger) for my new Zen Sleek, I noticed that the new Philips HD MP3 player and all Ipod seem to have the same kind connection.
Have anyone attempted to use Ipod cable on Zen Sleek? It seems that most after market accessories are made for Ipod so it would be very very nice if Zen Sleek uses the same connection. Perhaps I am day dreaming.

OK, don't get caught by this - there's a company that specializes in travel & replacement cables for cell phones, PDAs and MP3 players. Their name is Gomadic, and they have a very slick system - there's a standard USB male on one end and a receptacle like a mini-headphone receptacle on the other. You can get a very wide variety of end-connectors that plug into that receptacle and mate with just about anything you can think of. They claimed to have the connector for the Sleek, and I ordered it. However, when I got it, the end connector was a standard mini-USB male. I called them and they said "oops!" They just found out that Creative put this oddball connector on the Sleek while all the rest of Creative's players use the mini-USB. I can still use the thing for my camera and some other stuff though. They told me to keep it and gave me full credit on my credit card because of the error. So, I guess if you want a free travel connector for any of your kit that uses a mini-USB, order the cable for the Sleek from them before they correct their website!

  • Cases and Accessories for 5G iPods

Ok, so ever since I purchased my Black 60GB iPod I started reading about how easily it scratched and realized I needed to get a case for it immediately. I was also surprised to discover that my old iTrip and other top docking accessories no longer worked with the 5G iPods. So I began to research my options for cases and accessories, and here's what I came across:
This is a silicone case from zCover that seems to be the only 5G specific case that is available and shipping now.
    http://www.zcover.com/zCoverProduct_iPod_G5Original.htm
Here are 6 different options for cases offered by Speck sometime in mid-November.
    http://www.speckproducts.com/for-video.html
Tunewear has several different options available for the 5G's. The silicone case (ICEWEAR 5G) can be found here: http://www.tunewear.com/english/product/icewear_5g/index.html
The wallet-sized leather case (PRIE TUNEWALLET 5G) can be found here: http://www.tunewear.com/english/product/tunewallet_5g/
And finally the leather case with belt clip and hook (PRIE Ambassador) can be found here: http://www.tunewear.com/english/product/ambassadoripod5g/index.html
All of these cases are shipping sometime in November and all come included with Tunewear's TUNEFILM 5G which can also be purchased separately, found here: http://www.tunewear.com/english/product/tunefilm_5g/index.html
Another leather case option is being offered by difusi. Here is their VideoValet case, stated to be shipping sometime this week: http://www.difusi.tv/hardware/casemini/videovalet.html
Since most of these cases haven't been released yet, I decided to fashion my own case for the time being. This option will probably only work for those of you who purchased the 60 GB iPods, because the 30GB 5G's are significantly thinner than their 20GB and 30GB 3G and 4G counterparts. But anyway, I purchased a cheap silicone case for a 20GB iPod from Best Buy (you can probably find one anywhere that sells iPod accessories for around $10-$15) and a pack of PDA screen protectors. Since the height and width of the new iPods are exactly the same (the thickness or depth of the new 60GB is close enough to the 20GB and 30GB 4G's) and the click wheel and dock connector seem to be in the same place, it was only the screen size that needed to be adjusted. So I cut the case to make the entire screen visible, used a small amount of heat with a lighter to melt the cut edges firm, and then cut a screen protector to fit. This is a crude option, but it has worked for me so far and I don't have a scratch on it yet.
As for other accessories available, allabouttheaccessories.com has nearly all accessories that are currently available and compatible with the 5G video capable iPods listed here: http://www.allabouttheaccessories.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=193
As most of you know, the current incarnations of Griffin's t fit in the older case. Obviously the edges of the iTrip, perhaps the most popular FM transmitter for the iPod, are not compatible with the new 5G iPods. For some reason, Apple did away with the external power port on top of the new iPods, and therefore it is unlikely that there will be any accessories, including iTrip, iTalk, remotes, etc. that will dock on top of the iPod. Instead, most will use the dock connector port on the bottom of the iPod, which isn't all bad and actually offers some benefits. Griffin's new iTrip that will use this port can be found here: http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itrip30/techspecs.php And with a simple mini USB to standard USB cable, you can charge your iPod using a number of car chargers that use the USB cable (including Griffin's PowerJolt of course).
Anyway, hope this post helps those of you searching for new stuff for your 5G iPods. Despite the criticism I've read, this device is a huge step for iPods and has a ton of potential. Sure there are a few things that need to get worked out, but the bottom line is they've added all t

  • I have just bought a 1st generation Ipod touch, can I use my Ipod shuffle accessories for this or do I need to buy ipod touch accessories?

Can you use the same accessories from ipod shuffle to ipod touch?

The headphones will work with the iPod Touch.  For charging and syncing yo will have to purchase a cable for the iPod Touch since one end of the cable has to have a 30-pin dock connector.  The Shuffle uses a different connecotr.

  • Speakers/charging dock combo for iPod Nano?

I have a 3rd party home speaker dock, which works as a speaker, but didn't realize that the new Nanos don't let 3rd party stuff work as chargers. When the Nano is connected it says "charging is not supported with this accessory".
What are my options in terms of docks that would both charge the Nano, and work as a good set of speakers (with good volume)?

    larselarsen wrote:
Unfortunatly Apple are not being precise nor correct in their information regarding which systems work (charges) the Ipod Nano G4 ....
There are literally hundreds if not thousands of accessories not made by Apple that claim some level of iPod compatibility. It is impossible for Apple to supply comprehensive data about which ones work with which (if any) iPods. Newer products sporting Apple's "Made for iPod" logo indicate that the manufacturer (not Apple) certifies that it meets Apple's specifications for iPod compatibility, but that does not necessarily mean it supports all features with all iPod models, especially charging the Nano 4G, & latest iPod Touch & iPhone models.
Some accessory manufacturers now specifically list which iPod models each of their products supports in product literature, at their websites, or on the packaging. If so, be sure to check for any fine print or footnotes to make sure all the features work with a particular model! If you can't find this info, your best bet is to buy a product from a vendor with a good return policy or contact the manufacturer directly & request specific, detailed compatibility info.
Note: there is a lot of confusion about the "Made for iPod" logo. To display it, a manufacturer must pay Apple a fee & sign a non-disclosure agreement to get access to the technical details that ensure compatibility with current iPods & timely notifications of changes in the specifications that might affect compatibility with future models. Apparently, notifications about the changes to the charging specs went out to participants quite some time ago, perhaps as early as 2005, but very few accessory makers have done anything about it until now. Of course, non-participants have always reverse-engineered their products for compatibility without Apple's help, so it is probable that they knew nothing until the new iPod models were on retailers' shelves.
Complicating things even more, some manufacturers market both newer & older versions of some products under the same model name, or just slightly change the model name (like with a "II" suffix).
The bottom line is "newer is better" but is in itself no guarantee that the accessory will charge the Nano 4G.

  • Best type of case for iPod Video 30GB

    Merry Christmas everyone!
I just got a new iPod Video (30GB), and I'm looking into accessories for it. I want to buy a case that's good to protect the ipod from scratches and such, as well as if I accidentally drop it. I know there are a lot of good minds out there.. what would anybody recommend that would do the job, but at a considerable price (around 20-25 bucks)?
    Thanks in advance!

best I've found so far is an iskin. It's over your price limit but provides top of the line protection for screen as well as thumpage protection (I drop mine a lot)

  • Need help with accessories for new 4th Generation Nano-speakers, etc

I just purchased the new 16GB 4th generation nano and I want accessories to play with it but am concerned with compatibility and charing issues. I am new to this so my questions may not make sense!
    1. I am looking for speakers and the Logitech Anywhere Speakers have good reviews. Will I be able to play my Nano with these and charge it? If not, what ones will that are reasonably priced?
    2. What accessory can I use to play my nano in my car (older model) that will also charge it? Or are there no accessories for this as of yet.
    3. If I want to plug it into a stereo, I only need the mini/RCA cable converter, correct?
    4. To plug into the wall, I need the USB adapter-but do I need a dock as well?
Thank you and sorry for such simple questions! This is my first iPod! :-D

    2. If you have a cassette adaptor with the 3.5mm audio plug and want to also charge your iPod. You can plug it into a Griffin AutoPilot.
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/autopilot
For the car with no tape or aux you need an FM transmitter, if your in a city with a lot of stations you will get interferance (I was glad to dump mine when I got a new car). Most are 12 volt! The Griffin iTrip has 5 volt charge and works with the iPod Nano 4th Gen.
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itripautopilot
Griffin seems to be one of the few companies that switched to 5 volt charging some time ago.
    3. A line out cable is something like this...
    http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-35507-Connector-Cable/dp/B000JG3WBY/ref=sr111?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1221776257&sr=1-11
Better then using the headphone jack to hook up to a stereo.
    4. For the dock a 3.5mm to RCA cable should be all you need to get line out to your stereo.

  • Does anyone make a water-tight, fully submergible, case for iPod Touches?  I am looking for one that could be taken into a pool or ocean, so that you could take underwater pictures.  Thank you!

Does anyone know if anyone makes a waterproof, fully submergible case for iPod Touches, 4th Generation? I am looking for one that can be taken into a pool or ocean, where I would be able to take underwater pictures or videos. I've tried numerous web sites, including "Otter Box", but have been unable to find one for the iPod Touch.  I believe there might be one out for iPhones, but can't find one for an iPod Touch. • Car Accessories for 5th Generation

Are any of the fire wire accessories for car playback, i.e. the Monster brand charger/FM transmitter usable with the USB 2 iPopds like the nano or video iPod? Or do you have to playback through the headphone jack?
    Thanks

Are any of the fire wire accessories for car playback, i.e. the Monster brand charger/FM transmitter usable with the USB 2 iPopds like the nano or video iPod?
Firewire can only be used to charge the iPod Nano and 5th Gen iPod. Nothing more.
Are you sure the Monster FM device is Firewire? Or does it simply have a dock connector and you are referring to that as Firewire? Firewire is typically only used to connect to a computer.

  • Comparison for iPod Users: Free Online Converter & DVD to iPod Converter

Compare two channels of obtaining video sources for iPod: one is using online converter, the other is DVD to iPod Converter. After the general introduction of the two methods, I will analyze their advantages and disadvantages for you to choose according to your need.
Part One: Enjoy YouTube (online videos) on iPod
Instruction: a useful website to convert online video freely: http://www.vixy.net/
For vixy, you can just copy the URL of the online video into the “URL” blank of the vixy, then choose the format you want to convert to. Click “Start”. For a short time, the conversion will be finished. You can click the “Download the converted video” to restore the file.
    http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/vixy.jpg
Advantages: Free online video converter. No software to install. Only a few clicks you can get the converted file after a short while. The most important thing is that online video sources are numerous and original, so you can get the first-hand sources in time through it. Some personal DVs are also shared with you.
Disadvantages: They set limitation of the length and size of the video. The classical movies usually are not on line available. Even if existed, the quality of image and sound is inferiors.
Part Two: Enjoy DVD movies on iPod Touch, iPod Nano, iPod Classic, iPhone, iPhone (3G), Apple TV
We usually bought classical DVD movies for collection or regular watching later, but DVD cannot be copied directly into iPod for us to appreciate it at anytime and anywhere. On this occasion, we need to convert DVD to the format, video and audio settings (Resolution, Bitrate, Frame Rate, etc) supported by your iPod player.
Instruction: the way to convert DVD to iPod: using Aiseesoft DVD to iPod Converter http://www.aiseesoft.com/dvd-to-ipod-converter.html
Install and run Aiseesoft DVD to iPod Converter
    http://www.aiseesoft.com/download/dvd-to-ipod-converter.exe
    http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/screen.gif
Step 1: Click “Load DVD” button to import your DVD
Step 2: Use “Profile” drop-down list to choose your output format.
Step 3: Click “Settings” for setting your video parameters.
At last click “Start” button to start your conversion.
    More tips:
    1. Merge into One File
If you want to merge the selected contents into one file you can check the "Merge into one file" option. As default the merged file is named after the first selected file (either a title or a chapter)
    2. Movie Effect
You can set the brightness, contrast, saturation of the video and volume of the audio.
    3. Trim Movie
It can help you to capture the segment of your movie.
    http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/dvd-to-ipod-thread-trim.jpg
    4. Crop Video
You can remove black edge of your DVD movie and get any playing area of the video by using its "Crop Mode" function. You can also select "Zoom Mode" to extrude your video slightly to adjust to your portable devices so you can get the best video quality.
    http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/dvd-to-ipod-thread-crop.jpg
    5. Take Snapshot
It allows you to capture your favorite pictures from your movie.
Advantages: In this way, you can make full use of your DVD: not only in DVD player, but your iPod player. The function of effecting and trimming allows you to clip the segment of the DVD movies complying with your will. You can enjoy more movies taking full advantage of your spare time while relaxing or traveling.
Disadvantages: DVD movies are usually popular, lacking of individualization. You can not share others' DVs.
With these two ways, we can enjoy the pleasure videos bring to us as much as we like. Have fun!

Depending on what update your iPod is, you may need
to dowload YAMB to make sure the videos play well on
your iPod. If you are watching a converted video on
your iPod and it freezes suddenly and this problem
continues, you need to download YAMB and convert the
files already converted with videora iPod converter
with YAMB, this will only take a few minutes.
I hope this helps you out.
Nope. All that a person with that problem should have to do is just update their iPod firmware to 1.1.1 with the newest updater, as that issue has been resolved in the latest firmware.

  • Remote for iPod

    Hi there.
I've bought the Apple Universal Dock for iPod with Apple Remote, and I wanna to know if there is any way to use this remote with the Remote app.
    Thx all.
    Obs.: I'm a PC user

    Hi,
The menu button works with the new iMac:
    b Apple Remote with Mac
Included with the new iMac G5, the Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. It combines with Front Row — a menu-driven, full-screen interface — to make accessing your iMac's digital bounty from any seat in the room as simple as navigating your iPod. When you click the Apple Remote's
    b Menu button
, your desktop fades and Front Row's sleek interface takes its place to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Movies folder and whatever DVDs you want to play. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slideshow, a home movie you made in iMovie, even a movie trailer. Just sit back and enjoy the show.

  • Remote for ipod touch

is there a way to use remote for ipod touch and iphone with only bluetooth?
i'm running 3.1 os for ipod touch and i have itunes 9

If you mean using the remote app for controlling itunes with your touch using only bluetooth, as others have said, that's a no. This might be an ignorant suggestion, but someone who knows more about it can maybe post after me. If you're connecting your macbook to the internet with an ethernet cable rather than a wifi router, can you set up a macbook as a wifi connection spot so that your ipod is connecting directly to the macbook via wifi? I would imagine you could use the remote app then.
I also sort of thought you were asking if there was a way to control your ipod touch using a remote via bluetooth, and that's also a no, but you can use a remote with a dock connector.
