"Accessory Connected" message in iPod application

I'm using a 3G iPhone running version 2.2 that I connect to my car radio via a Dension IceLink connection. Apart from a few applications that I have installed, the iPhone is standard, not jailbroken.
Until recently, although I received the usual "this accessory is not made to work with the iPhone, would you like to use Airplane mode" message whenever I connect the iPhone to the car radio, the connection worked fine and I was able to play songs through the car radio using the iPod interface on the iPhone. At first, I wasn't able to charge the iPhone. That problem is now solved since I bought the Scosche PassPort adaptor.
However, a couple of days ago, a new problem occurred: I can no longer use the iPod controls when the iPhone is connected.
On connecting the iPhone, I still receive the "this accessory is not made to work with the iPhone, would you like to use Airplane mode" message (I select "NO"). But when I select the iPod application, I just have a grayed out screen with the message "Accessory Connected" displayed.
Disconnecting the iPhone enables the iPod interface again; reconnecting it brings up the message again.
Note that the iPhone will play songs through the car radio even when this message is displayed -- it's just the controls that I lose0
Any ideas?

My older iPhone (original) is having the same problem. I tried to update the Dension head unit to the latest firmware and the update would not work. My iPhone exhibits the same misbehavior as John mentioned in his original posting. Until the 2.2 software update, the iPhone plugged into the cradle, charged the phone, and gave me full control of the iPod functionality including the on-screen song navigation. Now, I get this stupid Accessory Connected and cannot even see the track titles anymore.
I guess I am off to buy a new head unit for my car. The biggest pain of all this is the installation of the Dension unit took hours, and I am not looking forward to replacing it because of the time and cost.
Sorry that I cannot do anything more than commiserate with you all and confirm that Apple definitely introduced a new "feature" that yields the IceLink head unit virtually useless.

    Hello  Damodar,
The connection is established at the time of installation only !!. At the time of installation you need to specify the Central Instance(message server in most cases unless you have a dedicated message-enque server).

  • IPhone 3.1.2 Internet connection issues and iPod application crashes

Was having problems connecting to internet with 3.1 that could be fixed by switching to airoplane mode and back, but with 3.1.2 internet service drops out (even though the screen shows all bars and 3G) and the only way to get it back is to switch the phone off and on. DOing this 20 times a day. Annoying.
Also, with iPod running, hitting the album icon in teh top right to get to the track listing for eht album causes the iPod application to crash.
    Does anyone else experience this?

I also had problems with 3.1.1 which resulted in intermittently not getting access to the internet, not waking from sleep, etc. Now since 3.1.2 update iphone works better but at least once a day I am getting no connectivity to internet even though GPRS/Edge/3G is showing and the signal is strong
The only way to resolve it is to reset network settings, also losing my wifi settings.
Apple should have a blog to update on these kinds of software issues as it is hard to tell whether it is due to the hardware or not. I almost sent the phone back for repair last time only to find the 3.1.2 fix was aimed at exactly the problems I was experiencing. Although, as stated, still not completely fixed.
Also my battery life is worse by about 20%

    1. Is there anything I need to do before I connect this new iPod to my iBook and do an update?
    No. Simply plug it in.
    2. Will my iTunes library freakout if it sees a new iPod connected?
No. It will ask if you want to link the iTunes Library to this new iPod. Just say Yes.

    Yes, no problem.

Not if you are only gonna connect the iPod one or two times.

When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen? How do i get past it?

I seem to recall that this may be cause by overloading the USB bus (lack of power to go around).  Shut down your computer.  Reset the iPod shuffle using this procedure.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Disconnect ALL peripheral USB devices, including keyboard and mouse.  Power up the computer.  If you need your mouse, connect it and launch iTunes.  Connect the iPod shuffle to a direct USB port and try the sync again.  See if there is any difference.

  • Message "Accessory connected" when connecting to my car audio

    Hi,
I bought a new iPod Touch recently but haven't tried connecting it to my car audio through the car's USB interface. When I tried connecting it to my car audio, the iPod interface vanished and a screen with "Accessory connected" appeared and it is simply impossible to get out of this interface. Also, my car's displays "Load" with an "iPod" indicator but doesn't seem to play the music. I read in the discussion forum that pressing the "Home" key would bring up the iPod screen which is correct, but the moment I tap on the "Music" option, the iPod again brings up the "Accessory connected' screen. I'm connecting my iPod to my Honda City car audio and the iPod Touch version is 4.1.
Has anyone had similar issues with interfacing iPod Touch with their car audio system?
    TIA
    Best Regards
    Ramanujam

    Hi Ramanujam,
It's possible that your car audio system offers the functionality of a "2-way mode" (ie: allowing you to operate via either the iPod itself or the head unit of the car audio system). Check your car audio manual, and switch the controlling terminal from "headunit mode" to "iPod mode" for iPod playback. Once in "iPod mode", you should find that your iPod's menu should operate as normal.
I'm not familiar with the audio system in your Honda City, however, by example, pressing & holding the "back" key on a JVC headunit will switch between playback modes.
If this solution is not successful, try connecting your ipod via the USB interface while holding the iPod in a "landscape mode" (ie: sideways). You may find that you have limited functionality & can scroll through album covers in order to make song selections. NB: Be sure to hold your iPod in a landscape mode before connecting, rather than connecting the iPod in a "portrait mode" and then rotating the device 90 degrees.
    Wishing you luck,
    Malcolm

  • I get message "your Ipod is not compatible with attached accessory"

I recently purchased a Belkin TuneBase FM for iPod to use in my car as a mount, FM transmitter, and car charger. After installing it into my car's power outlet and inserting my Ipod Video into it, I get the message "your Ipod is not compatible with the attached accessory". It does charge up my iPod battery, however my iPod screen does not display the FM frequency that the Belkin TuneBase is transmitting on and so I cannot adjust the frequency to get it to work. I have the latest version of Ipod firmware installed, I tried restoring my iPod to factory settings, nothing is working.

think that fm accessory is not compatible with 5g ipods . just check it in www.apple.com

When I try to eject my ipod after sync I get the following message:The iPod cannot be restored because it contains files that are in use by another application.". I tried to restore but it doesn't work and I get the same message

Go to your computer's System Tray and try ejecting.  If you can't eject, there is an application that is trying to access your iPod.
Go to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx and download ProcessExplorer.
Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555665 and follow the instructions under Resolution.
Note that this is a good, general process any time you can't access any file.
In my case an update to RealPlayer installed a program called RecordingManager that was accessing my iPod.
