Accessory not recognized by I Pod Touch

up till 2 days ago My I pod touch and both I pads recognized my JVC car stereo USB after plugging in but all of a sudden I get a " This Accessory not recognized by this I Pod/I Pad " My older I Pod Touch worked well that is until after checking I updated it in I Tunes, Very large Mistake as not it does not see the JVC either.
Like I said all this was working fine until 2 days ago and now nothing. I have reset all the I devices as well as the JVC stereo

Are you saying that the car system worked with the new devices before updating the iOS and then stopped after updating the iOS?
If so then
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Hpwever. sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility. Have you checked for a firmware update to the car system?

First of all try Resetting your iPod. Hold down the
MENU and SELECT (centre) buttons for five or ten
seconds until you see the Apple logo appear then the
menu button to go to the normal display. Once you've
done that, if everything is working again, have a
look at this troubleshooting article: iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes
You, my friend, are a life saver!!! I had the same problem today and I was freaking out. I was watching a video and went back to the menu and that's when it froze. None of the buttons would do anything. It sat like that with the backlight on for about three hours so the battery is just about drained now. I never knew about the Menu and Select button reset method until now.
    It worked beautifully, thanks!!!!

  • Accessory not recognized by phone

Hi everyone. I recently purchased the Bad Elf external WAAS GPS that is made for the iPhone, and despite it working with 5 other iPhones I've tested it with, it will not work with mine. The iPhone doesn't seem to recognize it, although I can use a provided cord to charge the phone using a USB interface (using the GPS as an adapter or converter. There is a small light on the bottom of the device that turns on when the GPS is in use, but when attached to my phone, nothing happens. All other accessories I've tried all work correctly. I've tried updating my phone, cleaning the 30-pin port, and even restoring my phone to factory default and starting fresh, but nothing seems to be working. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Brett here from Bad Elf. If you haven't already, please contact us via the Support/Feedback link at http://bad-elf.com and we'll get things straightened out. The fact that it works with 5 other iOS devices seems to indicate it's an issue with your 30-pin dock connector, but we'll probably ship you a replacement just to make sure.
    Best regards,
    Brett

  • I-Pod not recognized by laptop

    Dear All,
I use my i-pod as an archive flash disk. I tried to plug it yesterday to different computers, and none have recognized it. I have checked USB ports and all are fine. While not recognized the i-Pod is still charging (using power from lap top) which seems to indicate that cable is fine. What to do? I am really stuck and I desesperatly need some of the data on the pod. Tks for any tips/solutions. F

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • I pod touch not recognized in itunes

So I plug my ipod touch into the computer, with up to date i tunes and it is not recognized..  also the charging symbol that typically appears in the battery symbol in the top right part of the screen doesnt appear even when it is charging..  I can charge it through the computer or the ac adaptor.  I have another identical I touch that I can plug into the computer and i tunes detects it as normal..  Any Suggestions?

    - Try resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next would be to place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore via iTunes.  However, if you can't restore the iPod you wlll lose use of the iPod.

I have CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2010, version 6.0.0.264.
I was wondering about that one in particular.
Try configuring you CA as per kalda01's instructions in this post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10525876#10525876
(Sometimes switching the security software off doesn't help, but doing the configuration does help. Not sure what's afoot with that, but it has happened with other security-package problems with iTunes in the past.)
