Accident saving with an old version!

Hi! I by accident opened a document in my movies, saw this warning: "The project "test" was saved with an old version of iMovie HD. Opening it in this version will cause it to be upgraded, which will make it unreadadble by older versiond. Ar you sure you want to open it?" And I must have it "OK" and now I can not read some movies that I need to see...can I fix this?

You should be able to open, and read and edit, the movie in the newer version of iMovie. The older version movie was just upgraded, not corrupted. At least, that's the way it worked from iM5 ugrading to iM6. I don't know about iM'08.
If you can't read the upgraded movie, try closing iMovie and trashing the file com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User/Library/Preferences. iMovie will create a new file upon relaunch.
Update to the current version of Quicktime.
Afterwards run a permissions repair using the Utilities/Disk Utility application on your MAC hard drive.
Then try opening your upgraded movie.

  • Imovie files suggesting "saved with an older version" ???

    I hope someone can help.
I have been converting old analogue tapes to DV-PAL with aid of a canopus ADVC110 analogue to digital convertor. I am saving the files to an external hard drive (lacie mini hub 250GB). They appeared to save successfully but I have discovered later, upon re-opening the files, the following message "project was saved with an old version of imovie....." If I save the file the image becomes pixelated. I have about 10 projects, some are o.k one day and others projects are reporting the problem?
Unsure what is happening here and how to resolve.
external lacie drive is Mac OS extended (journaled)
    imovie HD 6.0.3
mac mini 1.42 1 gig ram   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   lacie mini hub and hard drive

I probably haven't explained myself to well.
I am running imovie HD 6.0.3, the lastest version.
I have been saving my projects (converting analogue-PAL to DV-PAL via a canopus ADC) in imovie HD 6.0.3, however upon opening the files later during the week I get the following message.
"The project “hi8 tape 1” was saved with an older version of iMovie HD. Opening it in this version will cause it to be upgraded, which will make it unreadable by older versions. Are you sure you want to open it?"
I'm unsure how this is happening when I'm running the lastest copy of imovie HD 6.0.3
When I do attempt to save I receive the following message.
"Files that iMovie can understand are in iMovie’s Trash. Any other files have been moved into the Finder’s Trash. Would you like to view iMovie’s Trash contents now?"
If I do go ahead and save it doesn't help, the video capture becomes totally pixelated after I move the files from imovie trash back to clip viewer or the imovie trash is empty? Sometimes it works by moving the files from imovie trash to the clip viewer but the following day if I open the projects I get the same old ver. problem
I am writing and saving the project to an external hard drive. Are their problems in doing that? The external hardrive is mac OSX extended (journaled)
I did upgrade from imovie 5 about 8 months ago.

  • I am in the middle of a job using CS 6, but at the same time opening the Creative Suite apps.  I created an InDesign file in CS 6, saved it, and now I can't open it. I'm getting this message: Cannot open file because it was saved with a newer version of A

I am in the middle of a job using CS 6, but at the same time opening the Creative Suite apps.  I created an InDesign file in CS 6, saved it, and now I can't open it. I'm getting this message: Cannot open file because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CC (10.1). You must use that version or later to open the file." AARRGGHH! So how do I access the file?

Sounds like you opened and saved it in CC, so now you need to go back to CC and either complete the project there, or export to IDML to take it back into CS6.

  • Cannot open "filename" because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CC (10.0).

I updated my whole cloud last week. Now I can't open a InDesign document saved just the day before. I get the error message:
Cannot open “filename” because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CC (10.0).
Cannot open “filename” because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CC (10.0). You must use that version or later to open the file. To then enable it to be opened in this version, choose save as InDesign CS4 or later, or export to IDML.
This is a document that I created in InDesign CC just last week.

    Hi Robert,
To open an INDD file in the older version (CS4-CC), you need to save it as an IDML. For CS3 & older versions, save it as an INX.
    Thanks

However, in Numbers, I cannot do the same thing with same procedure..
What should i do to get all of those 4 at the same time?
    Please let me know..Thank you!
First, be aware that Numbers is not MS Excel, and Excel is not Numbers. Features available in one of these two applications are not necessarily available in the other.
LINEST in Numbers works somewhat differently from what you describe. The function is well described in the "iWork Formulas and Functions Help" document, available through the Help menu.
I'd start there, with a search for LINEST.

  • I connected my iphone to the computer to charge it and itunes backed it up with an old version of my ipod so I lost all my photographs. Is there any way I can get them back?

Seems that you can no longer hide them on your phone.  Try doing so in iTunes: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919.

  • Saved with a newer version of Adobe indesign (CS8.0)

latest version of creative cloud will not open indesign files i get "saved with a newer version of Adobe indesign (CS8.0)"

You've got the wrong version of InDesign to open the file, it's that simple.
InDesign Cs6 is available on Creative Cloud, and if that's up to date it won't open InDesign CC or InDesign CC 2014 files.
You'll need to download InDesign CC2014 from the Creative Cloud.

    Hi, M_ghaderi.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your device is not recognized by iTunes, I would recommend the steps in the article below.  Start with the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows

I'm not sure what you mean by it making accessing files more complicated. I have both Pages 4.3 & Pages 5.1 icons in my Dock as well as Numbers 2.3 & Numbers 3.1. I continue to use the iWork '09 versions for my everyday needs. As long as the new versions are in your Applications folder & the '09 versions in the iWork '09 folder, Software Update will not have a problem updating them even if Apple should come out with a new update for the '09 versions.
Because I have moved the new versions to an external drive & renamed the apps because I want '09 to be the default apps, I do have to remember to move them back to my applications folder & restore the original names before updating. But since you like the new versions this "complication" doesn't apply to you.

  • I have an old Mac laptop that Apple no longer supports -- so, I can't download the latest version of iTunes. Also, I got a new iPhone that won't communicate with my old version of iTunes. How do I transfer my music from my laptop to my new phone?

Old version of iTunes on laptop won't transfer music to my new iPhone.

Your profile shows you are running Lion (10.7.5). If this is the case, you certainly can sync with a new iPhone. If you are not running Lion, you will need to upgrade to at least Snow Leopard (10.6.8). See below to purchase.

  • You are screwed up you can't ask a question until youve downloaded the lastest version I'M ON THE LAST VERSION ******* 5. is slower than 3.6.19 false advertising I get better speed with the old version, what's up with that?

I've already gone through this once but, just so I have my opinion voiced.I have used firefox all the way back to the first firefox and I don't understand why you have to make better when you usually make worse.Didn't you learn anything from vista? worst piece of crap Microsoft has ever made besides ME. I like 3.6.19 better than 5. because it works and it's faster! I can see it with my own two eyes. Then you say your going to discontinue updates after Aug, I know your in competition with other browser's out there but, I like my old version unless you can get rid of the bugs that are in 5.,my problem is it's to slow of a response when I'm responding to questions on forums and I don't like it. It's an aggrevation I don't want so I'VE DECIDED TO GO BACK TO 3.6.19 I LIKE IT BETTER! LET US KNOW WHEN YOU GET 5. FIXED

You should upgrade to Firefox '''3.6.18'''; your post shows '''3.0.19''' which is obsolete and insecure.
    Get the installer here: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
If your browser is just reporting the wrong version to this web site, then it's a false alarm, but please check for your own safety.

  • Need help with installing old version of firmware

I would like to revert to an old version of firmware for my Airport Extreme base station. I have read in a number of postings that this would possibly help with the problem of my Canon Pixma ip3000 not working after the firmware was usdated. When I tried to install the old firmware, the Installer would not allow it, there was just a message that the software was up to date. Could anyone please give a step by step description of how this can be done? Is there a way around the Installer? Thanks.

The firmware supplied with the base station was 4.1. After installing it, everything worked just fine, including wireless printing to a Canon Pixma ip3000. At one point, after being prompted by a message onscreen to upgrade to 4.2, I did the download and installation, and that is when all the problems started. No wireless printing, and I can't seem to use the Airport Admin or Assistant (not responding). Since then I have also upgraded the OS to 10.4.5.
I am trying to downgrade to 4.1 since that is what worked initially and what was suggested in another posting I read.
I did look at the information for the various parts of Airport and noticed that the Setup Asistant is 4.2, the Admin Utility is 4.2 and the base station is 5.5.1. Could this be affecting the problem as well?
I will try downgrading using the link you provided. Thanks very much.

  • Problems with an old version of Lookout

Greetings, I have a client with an application of Lookout v4.01 with data acquisition Profibus. Their computers are many problems to be old. They could tell me what steps to follow for getting the application in a new computer with an updated version of Lookout. Thanks for everything

Here is what I would do.
    First: Lots of backups.
Second: Bring into Lookout 5.1 (verify functionality)
Third: Bring into latest Lookout you have licensed (verify functionality)
    Others may have more experience.
    Best of luck,

  • My iphoto program was messed up so I dragged it to trash and down-loaded it again. now when I open it , it says I can't open my library with my old version, use my new version.  How do I get to my new version when it is the only one there?

My iphoto program was all messed up so I properly uninstalled it, I have a good back up.  When I reinstall iphoto from my iwork disc it installed Ok, but when I clk on the icon it says that my library is unavailable, use the new iphoto.  What is the problem?  If I go to applications the same thing happens, I can't access Iphoto!

You reinstalled an old version of iPhoto after you updated your library to the newer version.
Update ALL your software and try again.
Click the Apple Menu at the upper left-hand corner of your screen and select "Software Update..."
Repeat until it tells you there are no more updates.
AND, launch the App Store application located in your Applications folder to see if there are any updates there as well.
