Accidental Deletion - Need help

I just got my Macbook Pro earlier this week, and thus having little knowledge of how everything works, accidentally deleted the Garage Band app and a temporary folder I had made. The folder I can remake, but I need help regaining the Garage Band app. How would I do this?

  • Accidentally Deleting Playlists - Help?

How do I change the delete playlist prefernces in iTunes so I can get the "Are you sure you want to delete this playlist?" message back? I checked the "do not ask again" box a while back but after accidentally deleting so many playlists that I've spent a good deal of time creating I need at least something to help prevent myself from doing that again. This usually happens when I'm trying to delete just a song in the playlist; sometimes in iTunes it's hard to tell if I'm currently highlighting a playlist or a song.
I can't find the option to bring it back in the preferences area.
    Thanks for any help!

There is no option in preferences to get the warning back. What you have to do is delete the iTunes preferences files. Forget the article number

  • I accidentally deleted java HELP

I have a macbook pro OS X version 10.6.8 and I accidentally deleted Java and now my Itunes wont sync to my phone. How do i re-download java?

Java 6 for 10.6.8 is maintained by Apple and rather difficult to accidentally delete.
I doubt Apple would use Java, made by Oracle (formerly Sun Microsystems) a third party plug-in, for synching between iTunes and your phone.
Your problem is likely something else entirely, but if you feel it is Java that's responsible or wish to run through a list of possible fixes to tune up your machine and find out what actually is your issue, I suggest you run through this list here, Java 6 will be replaced by Step #8.

  • Mac OS X : Deleted , Need Help!

Hello Everyone, i am new to this forum! I have a 2.66 GHZ MacBook Pro, about 2 weeks old. I used to dual-boot Vista/OS X Leapord for work. I decided to delete all the partitons except one, to install vista on( thus deleting osx in its entirety). I regret this. So i decided to reinstall OS X .
I put in my OS X disk, and opened disk utility, i erased the partition( or disk image) that vista was installed on. Then I tried to install os x. However nothing came up when it prompted me to choose where to install. So i restarted my computer. Now when i turn on my computer it says "Non-System Disk" Press any key to reboot. When i press a key or click with my trackpad, nothing happens.
I really need to use OS X, for work etc. I am not concerned with erasing data on my HD. If anyone can help me, I'd be very grateful.
    Thank you!

Put the install disk in, and hold the C key while booting to start up from it. You should be able to start an install, choosing from 'Install', 'Archive and Install' or 'Erase and Install': if not, then open Disk Utility and reformat the disk to 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)' - I should set it to one partition. Then try installing again. Having done that a straight install will probably be the only option, and should give you a clean Mac as if out of the box.
Having done this, if you want a Windows Partition you need to create it while running OSX and using the Boot Camp Assistant.

  • Accident email account delete- need help restore all contacts

Help, this morning I accidentially deleted my email account in yahoo, and now ALL my contacts are gone....how do I restore the contacts. I don't have mobile me set up yet.

Were you provided an option to transfer the backup from your Touch to your iPhone that you accepted?
Which supported application on your computer are you syncing contact info with?
With Vista, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007, or with the address book used by Windows Mail with Vista - which is the name change for Outlook Express with Vista. The address book is called Windows Contacts I believe and the sync option for contact info is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences.

  • Accidental deletion. please help.

today i decided to clean my keyboard and while in the midst of it i pressed some keys on accident and it deleted all my playlists. i dont really care about any other playlist except 25 most played. how do i get that back...? or is there no way....:/

Okay. Open iTunes, now either go to 'File> New Smart Playlist'. I think that's where it is.
If not, see the plus button in the bottom left corner? Hold shift and that becomes the 'New Smart Playlist' button. Click that.
Choose 'Most Frequently Played' in the Selected By window, and set the limit to 25. Name it 'Top 25 Most Played'. Click OK.
    That should do it.

    EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!
IS THERE ANY WAY TO RETREIVE AN ACCIDENTALLY DELETED BACK UP FROM MY TIME MACHINE DRIVE????
In other words, I emptied out a folder on my main MAC to make space and the next subsequent backup backed up the EMPTY FOLDER and then deleted the "old backup" that actually contained the contents of the very important folder.
Now only the emptied folder exists on my MAC and in the two backups on my Time machine backup drive.
This was clearly a big mistake on my part not realizing that the "old backup" being deleted by Time Machine would include backed up files that I had no intention of getting rid of....
    What can I do now?
Is DATA RETREIVAL even an option?
I am sure that the Folder of files that I need are on the most recently deleted "OLD BACKUP" but how do I get to this, if even possible?????
    Super desperate situation here...

It may be possible to recover some of the data, if it hasn't been overwritten, but it won't be cheap or easy.
You've posted in the Time Capsule forum, but you mention a "backup drive."  If your backups are on a Time Capsule's internal HD, instead of an external HD, it's even worse.
    See Data Recovery.
    Good luck.

  • HELP! I Accidentally deleted the iTunes folder in the My Music folder

HELP! I Accidentally deleted the iTunes folder in the My Music folder so I lost the two files
    iTunes Library.itl
    iTunes Music Library.xml
As I understand it, these files contain all the play counts, ratings, etc. and I've spent weeks getting this info the way I want it and don't want to lose it.
I have all my mp3 files on my desktop computer HD under a seperate directories, so I'm not worried about loosig origninal music files. I don't have iTunes copying the files when I add them to the library and I do have "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" checked. I have not relocated any of the original music files.
I have not auto synced my iPod, and I can open the iPod in iTunes and all my songs, with play counts, ratings, etc. are there. I just want to get the playlists, play counts. ratings, catagories, etc. back to my PC.
Is there any way to get the playlists, play counts. ratings, catagories, etc. from the data on the iPod and recreate the .itl & .xml files on my PC? I see there are many files on the iPod two of which look promising "iTunesDB" & "iTunesPlaylists".
Can someone please tell my how to recreate just the .itl & .xml files by using the info on the iPod itself? Again, I have not relocated or lost any of the original music files, I just want to get the playlists, play counts. ratings, catagories, etc. back that are stored in the .itl file.
I really don't want to have a software utility copy the info over as then I will have two copies of my music files and I've spent a lot of time organizing and naming the mp3 files just the way I want (not the way iTunes wants).
I've read many posts and it seems many have screwed up recovery by trying things without clear direction.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Try some of the more robust recovery/trnsfer programs. Several can recover the playlists, and metadata of the songs on the iPod. Do some reading on the respective websites.
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
    iPodRip Software
    PodUtil Software
Senuti (Mac OS X v10.3 or higher Recovery Utility)
XPlay (Software For Music Recovery &/or Cross-Platform Functionality)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?
Here is a post on developing a thorough backup strategy: http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=394618&messageID=1263275
