I accidentally synced my mum's brand new iPad to my mac book air. A few days later I realised that my iTune library on my mac is completely gone. So is my iPhone 4s after I synced it with my mac. How do I get my old iTunes library back? I tried using icloud on my iphone but it stated that I have never back up my phone before. So I guess my iCloud data is gone too? But I have back up my mac in my harddrive using time machine. So how do I get my old itune library back? Please help! Thanks!

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

  • Can I restore my device to *before* accidental sync?

To make this question more clear, I'll start at the beginning. Today, I was planning on preparing a party mix for my birthday this weekend. I was going to add some songs to my library and then plug in my iPod touch to transfer the new songs and the mix after it was ready to go. I opened iTunes on my computer (the same computer I have synced with my device several times before--but hadn't done so for quite a while prior to today). Before I even allowed the sync, I quickly noticed my iTunes library was empty! (minus the handful of new songs I had just downloaded, using my computer not my iPod touch)
I had a minor heart attack. Hoping the 500+ songs on my device hadn't *vanished* too, I looked at my device to see all of the songs still there. I have no idea why my iTunes library on my computer is empty (missing those 500+ songs) but I did get an error message when I connected my device. Sorry, I cannot recall word-for-word but it was a message stating that my device was already synced with different iTunes library. I thought ***?! because I have ONLY synced my device with THIS computer, so how can that be? I looked under Properties to see when my iTunes was last updated and it says November 16, 2011. I can't be certain but I may not have synced my iPod with my computer since before that last update. So I am wondering if it was possibly the update that wiped out my library? Not sure if this is even possible but what other possible explanations could there be?
To make matters worse, I didn't think it would hurt to transfer my iPod purchases (purchases I made on my device in iTunes app) to my computer iTunes library. BIG MISTAKE! After this, I disconnected my device and took it into the bathroom with me so I could listen to music while I showered. This is when I discovered I have now have NO MUSIC CONTENT on my device. I am kind of freaking out because I am thinking about all the time I have spent organizing my playlists and getting all of my favorite artists/songs...now I have nothing, EXCEPT for what's in my iTunes library now. I am afraid to sync my device yet because I wanted to do some digging and find out if there is any way I might possibly be able to restore my iPod to before this "accidental sync" that wiped everything off my device.
Please help! & I do apologize if this post is too lengthy. I wanted to be thorough and explain exactly what I did and what happened. Thanks : )

Do you have a backup for the device that you can restore from?

  • Ipod nano 4th gen. accidentally synced to computer. can i get my data back

I accidentally synced and erased conents on my ipod. Is it possible to get my data back?

    Hello cynthialou13,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
I accidentally synced and erased conents on my ipod. Is it possible to get my data back?
Not very likely, even with the use of recovery software. If the content that was on your iPod is not in your iTunes library, then it looks like you may be out of luck. Sorry.

  • I accidentally synced my iPhone to my sisters computer and now my computer wont recognise my iphone to automatically sync for music form my itunes...Help?

I accidentally synced my iphone 4s to my sisters computer and now my computer won't recognise it and allow me to download music and photos etc. Is tehre some simple settign In need to do  to allow my compuetr to recognise my iphone again?

Connect to your computer, start iTunes, right click on your phone in the device list, choose "backup". iTunes will perform a manual backup without syncing your phone.
After that sync your phone, iTunes will erase the content, but you can use the manual backup to restore from afterwards.

  • Hello i accidentally synced all my photos from Iphoto and they doubled, i removed them all eventually to re-import them again, but i have no camera folder anymore and i have a folder called "From Mac" how can i turn it back to normal?

hello i accidentally synced all my photos from Iphoto and they doubled, i removed them all eventually to re-import them again, but i have no camera folder anymore and i have a folder called "From Mac" how can i turn it back to normal?

That is normal for photos synced from a computer to a phone using iTunes. Synced photos were never placed in the Camera Roll. Additionally since iOS 8 there is no Camera Roll: http://appleinsider.com/articles/14/09/19/goodbye-camera-roll-where-to-find-your -photos-in-ios-8

  • I accidentally synced my new iphone5 as an existing phone and not as a new one. I lost my videos! Can I retrieve them?

I accidentally synced my new iPhone 5 as an existing phone and not as a new one on my itunes account when registering it. I lost some very special videos I had taken of my son. Can those be retrieved somehow?

If you had content on your phone before syncing it, then no matter whether you set it up as new or as an existing, you would have lost the data that was on the phone.
If, when you connected the iPhone to iTunes you ran a backup before restoring from the previous device, your data may have been saved in that backup. You can check in iTunes and see if there is a backup there. Also, the only way to get that back is to restore to that backup. However, make sure you do not backup the phone in the condition is in now, because that will overwrite the backup that is there. Check the date and time of the backup in iTunes and see if it is before you did the setup.

  • My iPhone was accidentally synced to my husband's iPhone.  It's a mess.  How can I "undo" this?

How might "unsync" my husband's iPhone from my iPhone.  They were accidentally synced together and it's a mess.  He can no longer access his business e-mail on his phone and our contacts have merged.  Help!

    Hi.
I synced my iPhone to my mums,
It was my iPhone first I got it as an early christmas present
But she found the iPhone 4s for 5pound more a month
And it has more minutes so she said she would get it me and
She has the iPhone 4 which I originally had.
At first I didn't know how to log out of my email so my mum
Got mine, and I added it on two my phone the iPhone 4s
I started losing my numbers and got my mums then she lost
hers and ever since then we've shared the contacts
Ive lost her contacts twice for her and I don't want to do it a
3rd time but I can't keep our phones synced together I feel
Asif I have no privacy on my own phone when I add a new
Contact she asks who it is and how I know them I'm only a
Teenager and I want my privacy, my mate facetimed me
Before and I don't want my stuff going through to my mum
Cause she did it via my email Im very cautious about who I
Give my number to so it don't get out I don't want everyone
With my number cause people prank call
So she don't have my number and in wary it goes to my mum
So I was wondering if there's a saver way to handle this
That will not delete our contacts?

How do I retrieve songs /photos/notes from my Iphone that I accidentally synced to my ipod ? My ipod was my "backup  device"on my computer. This synch accidentally removed all my info on my phone and updated it to whatever I had in my ipod from two years ago. HELP!!!

  • I accidentally synced my iPhone 4 to another account before I had the chance to back up my files, is there any way to retrieve the photos that were on my iPhone?

I had an iPhone 4 that got stolen and just got a new one, so after I had taken important photos I plugged the phone into iTunes and it accidentally restored to my old iPhone data and uploaded all that information, deleting the new photos before I had a chance to back them up. I don't suppose there is any way of retrieving this lost data?

If these are photos that were synced to your phone, the only way to extract them from your phone is third-party software, like this:

  • How can i get back my data if i accidentally synced my iPhone 4s to an itunes other than mine?

I have an Iphone 4s and I was intending to sync it with my brother's ITunes in order to get music inmy iphone, but when I connected it, I presed the option "CREATE SECURITY COPY" as I thought that would download the music ONLY to my IPhone. However, as soon as it ended the download, I realized that not only had I lost all my personal data and information, but I got all of my brother`s information; my IPohne ended up being an "exact copy" of my brother's. I am now reaching for help in order to get all of my photos, personal calendar data, contacts and other things that were inside my Iphone and that I accidentally lost in the sync. I'm asking for a way to delete all of my brother's Information and recover my own. Please answer as soon as possible for I will be leaving my brother's house very soon. Thankyou.
    Claudia.

If you never performed a backup to either icloud or your itunes, then there's no way to get the data back.
If you did a backup, then you need to restore the device.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  This will erase your device.  Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your device was new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.

  • Accidentally Sync'd iPhone to existing iPad

When connecting my new iPhone 4s to my macbook for the very first time I accidentally chose to back up from existing device (my iPad) rather than 'set up new device' - now whenever I connect the phone is sync's to my iPad settings.
How do I rectify this and set up the phone with it's own account and settings, do I need to restore to the original settings and start over?
    Thanks, D.

You can restore in Settings > General > Restore > Erase All Content and Settings, or you can change your account in Settings > Store and Settings > iCloud
