    I have just purchased a new ipad2 to replace my old ipad. How do i sync all the data in my apps I am worried about losing my data?

    iPad settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party party app along with app settings are included with the iPad's backup along with other data.
    If you are syncing your iPad direct with iTunes on your computer via USB, the iPad's backup is updated as the first step during the iTunes sync process.
    The first time you connect a new iPad or iOS device to iTunes that is used to sync with another iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iOS device to the new device. This is followed by a sync to transfer the same content from your computer that is on the old iPad to the new iPad such as music, movies, tv shows, 3rd party apps, photos, audio and print books, etc.

  • Should I worry about the following warning?

    I have the following:
    public class Record
      private RecordMetadata                metadata;
      private List<Field<? extends Object>> data;
      (snip)
      public <T> void setValue( String fieldName, T value )
        int fieldIndex = this.metadata.getFieldIndex( fieldName );
        this.data.set( fieldIndex, new Field<T>( value ) );
      public <T> T getValue( Class<T> clazz, String fieldName )
        int fieldIndex = this.metadata.getFieldIndex( fieldName );
        Field<? extends Object> field = this.data.get( fieldIndex );
        return (T) field.getValue( );
      }In the last line (return in getValue) I'm getting the following warning (as reported by Eclipse):
    Type safety: The cast from capture-of ? extends Object to T is actually checking against the erased type Object
    What does this exactly mean? Should I worry about it? Should I do what I'm trying to do in another way?
    Thanks in advance, best regards
    Jose

    public <T> T getValue( Class<T> clazz, String
    ng fieldName )
    int fieldIndex = this.metadata.getFieldIndex(
    dex( fieldName );
    Field<? extends Object> field = this.data.get(
    get( fieldIndex );
    return (T) field.getValue( );
    You are not making use of the Class object that you're passing to
    getValue. You could use it to get rid of the warning:
    return clazz.cast(field.getValue());

    Is it safe to apply a invisible sheild screen protector with the liquid provided? I'm worried it will cause liquid damage to my 4s

    Avoid the dock connector and the headphone port. That's where the water sensors are located. Just apply a very small amount of liquid for the InvisiShield or whatever it is.

  • Got a Lenovo G50-70 computer running windows 8.1. Got a pop up says Adobe Air needs to be updated asks when do you want to update. Is this legitimate? I'm worried about viruses, worms. thanks.

    The popup says An Adobe AIR update is ready to be installed.
    I'm not sure it's really a message from Adobe.
    I may not have any need to use AIR if it was installed on my computer by Lenovo or Windows 8.1.
    My last computer had a popup that was, I think, a worm which told me I needed to update Flash Player Pro.
    So, I'm nervous now about popup messages. I wish all legitimate programs could have options to Automatically install updates.
    Can someone tell me if the popup sounds legitimate? Some programs give you a third option of No Thanks but this one just has a box to click for Update Now and a box for Update Later.
    Thanks.

    Shouldn't be a problem.  Just like Windows Update, Adobe AIR needs to update itself periodically.  Just click Update Now to update to the latest version.

  • Macbook Pro C2D 15,4" on order - Should I worry about the display?

    I have ordered the new Macbook Pro C2D 15,4" and I read the numerous threads here about the display quality. I have just selled my CD Macbook Pro 15,4" so I want to ask you all here, is there a difference between the new and the previous model, or do you think that both are grainy?
    I personally found the display of the Macbook Pro CD very good and I hope that the new is at least as good as that one.

    My advice to you is check it out before you buy it. I've gone to 4 different apple stores or resellers and all the ones I've seen on display have unevenly back lit displays. You can tell the cd from the cd2 from the lighting. Its very obvious as you take a look at them side by side. You'll notice what i mean if you look at the very bottom corners of the display. There is more light coming through than the rest of the screen and this is very annoying. There also seems to be burn marks at the very corners, they are faint and gray but also noticable. In fact there seems to be a bar of light that looks like a reflection of the macbook pro, but is actually uneven lighting all the way across the bottom. Definately bad. I went through 3 17" macbook pros cd2 at the store and all 3 of them exhibited the same uneven lighting. So then i went with a 15" but that too had the same problems. I'm going to wait it out for another month or so. I love the macbook pros, but I want to spend my money on a good product.

  • I'm using ver. 3.4.5. After having a problem importing  some photo's I now have all my library showing up in the one project. I'm worried about just deleting this project in total. Any help would be appreciated

    After importing a small group of photo's I noticed that aperture didn't create a project for them as usual. The only place I could see them was in last imported. While last importwas open I selected the photo's and told aperture to creat a new project using the selected one's. I named the project with the date using all cap's so I would know which one it was.  What I have now is my whole library showing up in this one project.  If I import more pictures It does two things. A new project is created as it normally does. These new thumbnails also show up in the problem project. I tested to see what would happen if I deleted one old picture while the problem project was open. It went to the trash. It was also removed from its original project.  If I ignore this what seems to happen when importing at this time is that a new project is created that you can open, it acts normal. The file only contains the correct amount pictures.  If I then go to the problem project the thrumbnails show here also.
    About 6 mos ago I switch to Aperture from iphoto. I never combined the two libraries.  I have around twelve thousand photo's. December 1st I backed up my imac with Time Machine. I don't want to back up again until I get this problem in check.
    Thanks for any help, Dale

    Hi Andy,
    I'm using Mac OSX 10.7.5
    No the one with the caps seems to be working normally.This project with the caps now has four files. Originally I created it with about fifteen. I deleted eleven of them and edited the remaining four. The four files each have one version and its original. It wasn't until after I completed this work that I noticed the privious project when opened and scrolled had the entire library in it.
    The test I did went like this. With the problem opened I deleted one file that I new existed prior to this problem.      I than opened that project that I new it was from to see if it got deleted and found it gone and moved to trash. I think that tells me that if I delete all the files in the problem project I'll be in trouble. I also have inported to projects each with one file that I edited. They are working fine. I took a look in the problem project and this last
    two imports show the thumdnails in it.
    Currently on my Hard Drive I have 275 GB free space.  My photo's take up 138 GB. As I said on Dec. 1st I backed up the system using time machine. So all of Dec. and part of Jan. inports won't be on it. I could work around the problem project and move those file to a safe place. I think it best not to back up the system with Time Machine until I'm confident the Aperture is runing properly. I'm happy that I control these system backups manually.
    I'll need to find out how to copy the Aperture library to another place. I'm sure I can poke around and fined out the process.
    Thanks Andy for the come back!

  • LOST ipod. It has a password on it but the pictures is what I am worried about as people can easily connect it to their comp and view them.. Is it possible for me to get it blocked by Apple? I have searched it on find my ipod but it is offline.

    SOMEONE TELL ME HOW I CAN GET IT BLOCKED!! PLEASE

    Unless you have enable Find My Phone there is nothing you can do to block it. All you can do is configure Find My Phone to go into Lost mode or to Erase the device. Neither of these will happen until it is connected to the Internet.
    What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
    iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
    If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if it is connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi or cellular. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
    If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • My sons iPhone5 was stolen and not locate blue on the Find iPhone app.  Any suggestions about what to do?

    We have contacted Verizon.  I also tried to contact Apple - although it is difficult to tell.

    Report it to the carrier and law enforcement.
    Apple does  not track or assist in finding missing/lost/stolen devices in any way, just like any other manufacturer.

  • Accidentally clicked on Name in playlist and now out if order

    I made a playlist on my I pod nanno 8gb I accidentally clicked on name above all the names to the songs and the playlist went to alphabetical order of names. How do you get it back to original order?

    Click at the top of the column on the left with the numbers in it. When you click on any column there's little triangle on the right side of the column header. When it is pointing up the column is sorted in Ascending order (lowest to highest) when it's pointing down it's in Descending order (highest to lowest).

  • I plugged in a USB drive, tried to open Finder, got the message Finder.app can't be opened - 10810, went into terminal.app, messed up, now terminal screen blank.  how do i regain terminal in order to fix finder problem?

    With my iMac running, I plugged in a USB drive.  When I clicked on finder, I got the message Finder.app can't be opened - 10810.  I removed the USB drive.  I messed up while in Terminal.app trying to fix Finder problem.  Now my terminal screen is blank, just the cursor, but no action after typing a command & clicking enter.  Help!

    I finally figured out a way to Restart (normal way wasn't working...) & that Restart DID FIX both the Terminal problem AND the Finder problem.  So easy, yet so elusive.  Thanks so much.

  • While using the internet, my phone got infected by a virus?

    Hello!
    I am concerned about my phone. I tried to contact apple support but for some reason it did not work, so I decided to search for help here. Today when I was using the internet, when I entered one site I got the notification "Your iphone has been infected with a virus, click ok to fix it'. I did click okay but I got so scared that I closed everything before it supposedly started to 'fix'. I removed cache and cookies and history of Safari. I also set all the settings to default and removed everything except content such as multimedia. My phone is highly unlikely to be jailbroken since it was bought at the authorised apple store and I never even considered 'toying' with such a personal device as my mobile phone. My question is - should I be worried? Should I fully format my iphone? And if that is the case - will it be enough? It was probably some kind of malware but I would prefer to be sure that nothing can possibly happen and apple can protect me from such incidents.
    I will be grateful for the answers,
    Kind regards,
    Wiki

    Currently there are no known viruses that can affect an iPhone.  What you saw is just an ad purporting to know what is going on in your iPhone and offering to fix it. The most it could have done, was diret you to the App Store to download an app, or try to get oyu to download one form a site that would not be ablwe to run on your iPhone.
    As it stands there is nothing you should e worried about.
    Deleting Cookies and website data was the correct thing to do.

  • Just what IS the procedure for App Store review (and resubmit)?

    So when I submit an app for the first time I understand why there would be a 1 week, even 2 week wait for someone at Apple to review it. Actually, it's quite a luxury to have Apple experts to review and test an app for me.
    Last time I did this, in about 10 days after submission they spotted a relatively minor issue (there wasn't an alert panel when there was no internet connection and the user tried a search). OK fine. So I implemented one.
    Another 10 days or so later I get another rejection, this time for another minor issue - one that I was able to fix in about 10 minutes of coding. A total of 15 minutes after getting the rejection email from Apple, the new binary was submitted.
    Do I wait another 10 days again?
    Is it the same person who reviews the "revisions" at least?
    Isn't there a better way?
    A 10-day turnaround for even the smallest incremental fix, with potentially a different person reviewing the app each time (and do they do a "full" review each time?) seems awfully inefficient ... not to mention frustrating.
    Does anyone have any (real) insights as to how the process works?
    Thanks,

    Search this forum - your question has been answered before. In a nutshell Apple has no idea what you changed when you resubmit a fix for a rejected app. So it goes back to the end of the line. I'd bet 9.5 of the 10 days your app was just sitting in a queue waiting to be looked at.
    But each time you submit, someone must do a full regression test because they have no idea what you might have changed. I know it's frustrating. It would be nice to get one rejection with a list of all the little things instead of getting rejected on the first flaw. Wait 10 days - oops, another minor flaw.
    But it sure is good incentive to test the heck out of your own app. As a single developer it's the hardest part (at least for me). I know my app inside and out. It's best to get a 2nd set of eyes. A non-developer is even better. Get a real user. They will point out all the little things like a missing alert or what not. As the developer you don't always worry about such a small detail. But Apple is big on user experience. Think like a user.
    Speaking of which, it's time for me to put my user hat on. I'm polishing my app right now. Details, details, details.
