Accidentally composing msg with huge attachment, Mailbox gets "stuck"

Here's what happens:
Sometimes I accidentally start composing a message with an enormous attachment size... it happens: Aperture exports original size images to mail, dropping a bunch of images in without telling Mail to resize them first, etc. The problem is, when mail tries immediately to save a draft to the server (Gmail) it can't handle a message of that size and Mail gets stuck in an infinite loop of trying to upload the message, failing and trying to upload it again. Eventually I end up with dozens of copies of the message draft in "Recovered Messages" and the process begins anew every time I restart Mail.
I've tried all the obvious remedies: deleting every copy of the overweight message, deleting the draft mailboxes, deleting the appropriate .mbox folders in my library, (and, yes, emptying the trash after deleting those folders). The loop of eternal upload attempts continues each time I start Mail. The only solution I've found is to delete the mail account and recreate it after restarting Mail.
This has happened several times now in the past few months and it's really frustrating. I know how to prevent the problem (just don't create messages with enormous attachments), but accidents happen and when I accidentally start composing a message with too large of an attachment I find myself having to once again delete my Gmail account from Mail and recreate it. It's enough to drive me back to Entourage... even with its Time Machine time bomb (but, that's another story all together).
Anywho, has anyone else experienced this glitch with super-size attachments in Mail? Is there another way to stop the eternal upload attempts without deleting the Gmail account and recreating it? Is this a legit bug or am I missing something?

Try Window -> Activity, and use that window to cancel the upload. It would also be a good idea to disconnect from the network before opening Mail, just to make sure the upload attempt never gets started.
E-mail is not really the best way to share photos with other people. Get a free [Picasa|http://picasaweb.google.com> account and upload them there, then send people a link to the album.

Messages sent from secondary mailboxes getting stuck in Outbox.

I have two users who recently began having a problem with messages sent from secondary mailboxes getting stuck in their Outbox.
The details:
We're using Exchange Server 2010 version 14.03.0224.002
Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1
Office 2010 version 14.0.7140.5002 (32-bit)
The user in question whom I will call Jane has full rights and send as rights to the department's mailbox (which I will call "Common"), however, the Outlook profile on her computer is setup so that Common is the default mailbox
and Jane is a secondary mailbox.
The problem is that in the last few weeks messages send from Jane get stuck in the Outbox. We have recreated Jane's Outlook profile on her computer which resolves the problem, but only for a day or two before it begins to happen again.
Additional info: Jane logs into her computer and her email as herself. As stated above she has full rights and send as rights to Common. Common also has full rights and send as rights to Jane's email.
We have used this setup successfully for many years for several of our users. The problem started with one user a few weeks ago and now a second user who accesses a different Common mailbox is having the same problem. Both systems have been
thoroughly checked for viruses and malware, etc.
Anybody got any ideas?

The same thing happens to me. Really irritating. However, even after rebooting, the mail is sometimes stuck in the outbox. Anybody have a solution?

The movie is probably MPEG format.
QuickTime Pro and iMovie cannot transcode audio contained in MPEG movies.
Try to convert with SimpleMovieX or MPEG Streamclip instead.

HT3748 Messages sent through my Exchange Account with large attachments (10mb) get stuck in my Outbox.

I use Mail and icloud except at work. The wi-fi network at work won't allow icloud through so I use my work email setup on Mail as an Exhange account. When I have a large message (10mb) to send through this account it gets stuck in my Outbox and won't 'send'. It actually appears in the 'On my Mac' Outbox and not in the Exchange Outbox - even though i sent it using the Exchange account. IT at work are puzzled. This problem is only when at work - I can send through my Exchange account when I'm at home. Please help...

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
This action will delete any custom Mail stationery that you have created. If you want to preserve it, ask for instructions.
If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

When syncing my iPhone 4S with itunes, it just gets stuck at stage 2 out of 4.

I just got the new iPhone 6, so i wanted to back up all my apps on my iPhone 4S. But it just keeps getting stuck at stage 2 out of 4. I'm pretty sure it's not the internet's problem (although whenever i check for updates, it always says the update server couldn't be connected, that I have to check my internet connection ). I've tried doing this at a few different places with different wifi connections and the result is still the same.

Sending txt msg with pictures attached.

I am having trouble sending pics via txt msg. I can send regular txt but when I add a pic it gets returned as undeliverable.

Is your cellular data turned on? Does it happen with all contacts or just a few? Can you send yourself a picture text from your phone?

TB stopped receiving emails after one with huge attachment. Updated TB. Can send but not receive. Using Yahoo POP server. Browser access works fine.

Several days ago, after receiving a 7MB attachment, I stopped receiving email on my Yahoo POP account. Browser access to the Yahoo server works fine. I obviously deleted that message and attachment but curiously, it and only it continued to be downloaded to my inbox!!! I tried downloading a new TB and installing it. Nothing changed except that specific email no longer appeared (another did though, see later). Settings are to leave msgs on server until I delete them. I transferred all my inbox to a local folder and then compacted mail and tried testing reception from another source and nothing appeared on TB, just on browser access. Oddly, one very old message repeatedly appears, I assume as a result of the auto check for new mail but not sure. Though I try to delete this old message, I can't. I haven't removed and recreated account yet because I don't want to lose all the filter history. Scanned for solution and can't find any. Any ideas, please?

Starting your mac in safe mode will disable the Symantec stuff long enough to download mail. Should the issue arise again

Email messages getting stuck in Outbox

I have regular problems with my sent emails getting stuck in my Outbox when using verizon.net mail. The problem only occurs with verizon.net and only on my tablet (Nexus 7), not on my PC. Both are on same wireless network so I don't think it is due to interruption in connection. Is there some adjustment I need to make?

Gmail is a deliberately broken implementation of IMAP that often causes problems with Mail. The problem seems to have gotten worse in Mavericks. Google has no incentive to make Gmail work well with any mail client, because the company makes money by delivering targeted ads via the Web. The Gmail servers analyze your messages to gather information about you and your contacts that Google can then sell to marketers, or to anyone who will pay for it. You agreed to those terms when you registered a Gmail address. The marketers—not Gmail users—are Google's customers and the ones it aims to please.
I suggest either not to use Gmail at all, or to access it through the website as Google intends. You might get better results with another email client. I don't recommend any one in particular.

Superdrive and itunes getting stuck

Hello. I know lots of people have problems with the super drive getting stuck.
My drive gets stuck sometimes when loading music or audiobooks. When it gets stuck on a song, i-tunes freezes up and the drive keeps repeating the same pattern trying to read the disc. It won't eject unless I force quit i-tunes. Sometimes then it will quit running and I can eject the disc, other times I have to restart the computer to get it to eject. Is there anyway to get it to just skip a bad spot instead of getting stuck.
Sometimes this also happens while watching a DVD. Then the DVD player will freeze, and I may have to restart the computer to eject the disc.
This seems to me like a dumb thing that apple should have figured out or thought through. Maybe just a button to let you physically skip the scratch or problem. I know it's probably not that simple.

After a week the MacStore technician called and said that they had replaced the MATSHITADVD-R UJ-857 with a new on, and that the disc that I had given them was still freezeing up the drive at the same spot. He was able to play and copt the disc successfully on a G-5 and the copy of the disc works on my machine. He recommended that i make copies on another machine of any discs that do not work and thenplay the copies on my machine.
I was able tp play the original "faulty" disc on a MacBook store demo and it worked fine (with the same optical drive) I asked if they could just take the working disc drive out of the demo since it apparently works, but the tech said that they could no and could notor would not give me a suitable answer or reason as to why not.
THIS IS MY 3RD FAULTY OPTICAL DRIVE.....2 RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX1111111

IPOD is getting stuck and not responding.

I have IPOD with a click wheel(model no. M9282CH
Version 3.1.1)
I bought this on dec 2005.
But for the past 2 months there seems to be a problem with my IPOD. it gets stuck when it is playing songs. (randomly)
Can some one please throw some light on this. it really would be of great help thanks. Ihave tried all the solutions mentioned here. couple of them seem to work but (like resetting) but all the songs are getting deleted.
Is there no permanant solution to this.
I have tried restoring to the factory settings and downloading all the updates and the latest itunes also.
Please some one let me know if there is a solution to this
apart from resetting it every time this happens.

I compose an iMessage with the destination as my email address and I attach 2 photos I want on my PC. I send them several times from my iPhone 5C but they never arrive. I look at my ipad later and realize that it's iMessage app is getting ( and swallowing) these emails. I then turn the ipad off. Still can't get the photos through because iphone is now getting them on it's iMessage. I turn off the iMessage feature and try to send photos from text msging. Phone tells me it can't send photos unless iMessage it turned on. What happened to regular MMS text messaging? I go and try to send photos as an email attachment and see that there is no option to attach from the stupid email program. I look up online to learn about the brave new world of apple attachments and send them.

Did not work. I've selected iMessage to ON and left it. After a few hours I recieved a message "activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage to try again". This has been going on for the past 3 days.

Since you didn't include any pertinent info such as the Mac model and OS version you are running, here is some general information:
Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup
Depending on which OS yours came with originally - and which OS you are now running - you would either need your original install disks - you can call Apple for replacements by giving them your serial number. Or you may be able to reinstall the OS by using recovery (again, depends on which model/which OS).

I had a similar problem in that my wife's iphone 5 could not send pics with imessage. Had to set the settings to default to SMS or whatever. After laboring many hours on the web I coincidentally was on the phone with the internet people to question my internet speed. They changed the router channel, which is something that I am capable of doing myself. After that, the pics go over imessage. My own Iphone didn't have the problem. We are both latest IOS 7.0.6.

- Try restoring the iPod, first from backup and then try to factory settings/new iPod to rule out a software problem.
- Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and broken or cracked plastic.
- Could you have damaged something when you took the iPod apart and replaced the Home button?
