Accidentally deleted a purchased song

I bought a album yesteday, and me being an idiot I accidentally deleted a song off it today. When I go onto iTunes the rest of the album says play next to it but the deleted song just says purchased and when I click on it it just plays the sample of the song. I've tried all this iTunes in the clouds and I cannot seem to follow it or get it back. Also my iTunes is got rid of all my albums that I had on there. Please help, I don't want to buy the song again if it's already somewhere.

I accidentally deleted a purchased itunes song but still have it on my ipod.  Is there anyway to restore it to my laptop from the ipod?  I've seen others with a similar situation and the question was asked if it was still on the ipod but can't find a follow up to point me in the right direction.

Use the Transfer Purchases command in iTunes.

  • How do you delete a purchased song that doesn't have a delete option when swiping?  This was a freebie when I first purchased my pad

How do you delete a purchased song that doesn't give you the delete option when swiping?  This was a free song when I first got my pad. Now I can't delete it. I only get the play option, or to download it again.  The song is "Twinkling Lights", I think that's right.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    You don't.
how do i delete a purchased song to free up space on in my memory?
    Select it and press Delete.
Note that you will need to redownload it (iTunes > Purchased)  to play it.
If you subscribe to iTunes Match, you can stream it or downlaod it.

It sounds like you and your husband are sharing an Apple ID, a version of iTunes on your computer, or both.
I recommend you share neither your Apple ID nor your version of iTunes.  You can still share music by using Store > Authorize this computer and enter your spouse's information.  But it sounds llike this sharing is the cause of your problem.

  • Help!! I was trying to delete an album from iTunes and I accidentally deleted over 300 songs, idk what the **** I did

I thought I was ust deleting one album from iTunes but I must have accidently hit the shift button or something becasue it deleted over 300 songs and now I can't get them out of the trash and back into iTunes, any suggestions? Be warned I am "technoligically ********!"

Are the songs still found in the finder -> Music -> iTunes -> iTunes Media -> Music?
If so, you might be able to import them again from there, else you can try to move the songs from your trash to an other folder.

  • So I accidentally deleted 5gb of songs from my computer

Ok, it wasn't accidental, because I was actually running out of room on my computer, but then I got a 400gb external hard drive. Now I want those songs back and they're still on my iPod. How do I get it so that the library updates to what my iPod has instead of my iPod updating to what my library has?

    Quoting you, Jeff:
If you've got no back up of these songs, and they're deleted from the iPod, you're out of luck. There is no "undo" feature for deleting songs from an iPod.
Jeff, You are telling the person with the problem (Yola33) that they are SOL. Since this is not true, I've addressed my reply to you, because your advice in this case is inaccurate. Since my reply is in the thread in which Yola33 is participating, they too will be able to read it. Feel free to keep your snarky comments to yourself about how you are well aware that this is the case -- your attitude shows that you 'd rather fight than solve the problem at hand, and I'm not interested in sparring with you.
I'm well aware that there is data recovery software
    for the iPod thank you.
However, I never recommend anything that I have no
    personal experience of using.
You know what, that's fine. I have no problem with that. Recommend whatever you like. I'm simply adding information for the person having trouble.
"You can scrounge around the net for some
un-delete software, and give that a try. It may
recover all your music, or only some"
Thanks, but I don't need any. I have all my music
safely backed up. That's what we try to convey here.
I would have thought it was obvious, but that comment was for the benefit of Yola33, or anyone else who searches and finds this thread. I have no doubt that someone with 20,000+ comments on the forum also has the time and knowledge to have backups of their music.
    "You'd want to enable disk-mode."
Why do I need to do this?
Refer to prior comment, if you are still confused as to whom I was addressing the bulk of my reply. For them and others who find this thread, if your iPod is in disk-mode, then you can use un-delete programs on them.
At best, you'll get some or all of your music back. At worst, you might have to use iTunes to do a restore, though if used properly undelete programs will in no way harm your iPod.
"You'd want to be wary of spyware."
    On a Mac?
Please... just because there are fewer trojans, viruses, and other forms of malware and software vulnerabilities in the wild that affect your Mac, doesn't mean they're not out there, but again (as if this actually needs to be said) my post is for the benefit of the original poster and any else who stumble upon it looking for help with their iPod. Since their post did not indicate what O.S. they are using, I will make the conservative assumption that they use windows, and if you go installing software off the net willy-nilly on windows, we all know you're likely to be installing spyware.
"It's worth a shot, if you're out of better
    options."
I don't need any "options" since I'm not the one with
    the problem.
    'nuff said.

  • I accidentally deleted the "purchased" playlist

Not any of the songs, but I frequently looked in there for recently purchased stuff. I know I can work around it, but is there a way to get it back? Thanks.

Not sure you can create a smart playlist from your iPhone. I think you need to create it on your computer...

  • PLEASE HELP ME! I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED ALL MY SONGS!!!

I got a new computer the other day and followed all the directions given on the apple support site to transfer my 1080 songs. When i connect the ipod to the new computer at the end, it gives me a popup that says
Would you like to make your ipod correspond with this library? (something like that)
and the apple site told me to say yes. Well all my songs got deleted. I tried a few times before hitting yes, hitting no, but nothing ever happened.
    can anyone please help me?!?!
    im really distressed right now!

As I mentioned, since you said "yes" before moving the music, the songs are gone.
There are some programs that can try to recover your data, but I'm not sure of names.
You're going to have to reimport your music to your library.
Hitting "no" simply means the data on the iPod won't be overwritten with the data from the new iTunes library.

  • Accidentally deleted a song I already purchased a while ago

I accidentally deleted 2-3 songs I purchased over the summer from my computer. Is there a way on Itunes to redownload previous purchases without paying for them again? Thank you.

basically, there isn't. click here for information.

How come it's not the same with music purchasing?
Because Apple pays the music copyright holders a royalty each time a song, including a free single, is downloaded from the iTunes Store. You can sometimes get one free redownload request granted by using _*this form*_, but never more than one.
    good luck !

  • Protecting my iTunes songs from getting accidentally deleted

I am on OS X Lion 10.7.4 and iTunes 10.
I have set up a user for each member in the family.
I centralised the iTunes library into macintosh HD>users>shared>family iTunes library>iTunes library.itl
Music files are centralised in macintosh HD>users>shared>family iTunes library>iTunes media>music>
For each user I hit 'option iTunes' to choose macintosh HD>users>shared>family iTunes library>iTunes library.itl
Works well, each user sees the same library, it appears to be completely transparent.
I am now concerned my 5 year old son might accidentally delete my precious songs.
I tried assigning read only access for him to macintosh HD>users >shared, I find he can still delete music files.
Any advice on how I can let my 5YO son have full access to this iTunes library without allowing him permission to delete?
I have a similar requirement for iPhoto too.
    Thanks
    Ramond0

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .
