Accidentally deleted book/album file... What data file is it stored in?
Hi. I accidentally deleted a book/album project from my iPhoto library. I've read through a few posts, and I understand that the book/album isn't a file in and of itself, but rather an entry in a data file.
Is there any way to restore to yesterday's version of this data file?
Which data file is that information stored in?
I'm looking for any help whatsoever in trying to recover this particular album/book. I'm pretty computer-savvy... Is there ANY way to recover/restore this data?
Thanks - please post a reply and also e-mail to [email protected] Thank you!
I don't, unfortunately. I clicked on a book and accidentally deleted it. It seems silly that there isn't any way to recover this information, since it took so long to create, and since it was so easily and accidentally deleted... I'm feeling hopeless. Any suggestions?

I accidentally deleted my media files from iTunes and Trash when I was trying to move the files to an external hard drive. Is there a way to restore the media files from a Time Machine backup or from iTunes Match? What are the steps to do this?
If you have been backing up on Timemachine.
All you need to do is enter time machine... Then the rest is obvious.
Find the iTunes folder and hit 'Restor'.
If not the only way to get all your iTunes music back is to enter iTunes Store.
On the right hand side you should see 'Purchased'.
Click 'purchased' and there you have it. -
I accidentally deleted my home file in Mavericks. I cannot reopen it, and have no access to my applications or my files.

I accidentally deleted the systems file on my macbook.
In preparation for upgrading from Leopard 5.8 to Snow Leopard I backed up my entire macbook system to an external hard drive. Then I deleted some files prior to installing Snow Leopard but I accidentally deleted the systems files. I can't boot the system now. How do I resolve the situation?
Thanks for the reply.
The backup was via Time Machine.
No, I have not tried booting from the SL 6.0 disc using the c key or Option/alt key. When do I push the option/alt key? -
HT203167 I accidentally deleted an album on my Ipad2 can I retrieve it?
I accidentally deleted an album on my Ipad2 can I retrieve it. also my others albums have recently skipping the order of the songs.
what can be done? ThanksWhether you can re-download music depends upon what country that you are in, and whether they remain in the store. If you can re-download it then it will show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your iPad.
For the songs that skip, I assume that they used to be ok. If they are also re-downloadable then you could delete them from your iPad and re-download them (whilst a song is still on your iPad it will show as 'downloaded' in the Purchased tab and not with the cloud symbol for re-downloading). -
I accidentally deleted an album from my itunes library and i want to buy it again but itunes is saying that i have already purchased it but i don't have it in my library. How do i buy the album again?
Sorry, but audiobooks cannot be downloaded more than once without charge, so if you don't have a viable backup, you may be out of luck. You can, however, contact the iTunes Store, explain the situation, and see if they can make an exception for you.

i accidentally deleted an album of photos. Can I get them back and if so, how. Tks
did you import the album from your computer? If so just import it again. If not and the photos were placed in an album and were on your camera rolll they might be in a backup (backup saves camera roll) Restore from that backup and anything you created since the backup was made will be lost

I accidentally deleted a system file and my macbook pro will not boot
i accidentally deleted some files and i am guessing now that they were system files. now my macbook pro will not boot. i need help please
What OS version are you on? You're not running iOS 6.1.2 on it.
If you're on 10.7 or 10.8, try the recovery option:

I accidentally deleted hidden system files! Please help!
Hi guys.
Well after purchasing a mint MBP today running Mountain Lion, I wanted to "tidy up" the desktop and Finder. I saw many hidden files and thought it was very peculiar as my iMac hasn't got anything of the kind. I thought it could have been some files from a USB that were left there from previous usage. Anyway, I've ended up deleting key system files which now causes the MacBook to fail boot and keep restarting.
I've attempted the highly recommended "Command R" function which gave me a choice of Time Machine Restore (system comes up with no backups), re-installation of Lion (which won't work because the system is running Mountain Lion) and a Disk Utility repair (which does its job but makes no difference on start up). I feel really upset and annoyed. The system had great installations of key apps I needed. I'd be sad to loose them but would be happy to just get the system rebooted and running from scratch.
The system is a late 15" 2011 MACBOOK PRO with an i7 Quad 2.44 (or 2.66) processor, 4GB memory and a 750GB hard drive.
What can I do? Is it just a case of take it to Apple so they can reboot it for you? And if that's the case will I be charged?
Many thanks for the advice.
Apologies if this is something you have heard before, it's a horrible feeling and I just want it fixed.
Thanks.
Hal.To install Lion that belongs to you will require you to repartition the drive first. You cannot do a simple reinstall of Lion over a Mountain Lion system. You will need to follow this guide instead:
Install Lion/Mountain Lion on a New HDD/SDD
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This is the procedure you must go through because your hard drive does not have a Lion version of the Recovery HD. -
I Accidentally deleted my music files!? wont allow me to play music?!
My old iphone 4's lock button broke so i got a new iphone 4 and used my back up to put all of my stuff back on my iphone. Everything went back on it except for my music. I plugged it back into my Macbook and it synced for a while and then "There is no more space in your harddrive to continue to sync" popped up...it also said to delete items to clear space. So i went to my finder and i accidentally deleted like all of my music files! The music still shows up in my itunes library but when i click it to play the music, a pop up appears saying "Cannot locate this music file" or something like that and it has a button that says "LOCATE" so i press it and it tries to locate that music file but there is no music file there. Please help! i need my music back! thanks!
You need to restore the files from the most recent backup of your computer.
You can redownload iTunes purchases. -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
If you do not have other items backed up, you cannot restore them (because you do not have them in a backup to restore from). -
Accidentally deleted a few files...
Hey, I accidently deleted a few files:
javascript.html
javascript.js
and one other I forgot, but it had to do with javascript.
Anyone know if these are important and how to replace them if they are.
Thanks. Thanks, yeah, I already deleted them a while back thinking they caused this annoying split second pop-up window, but they weren't the ones. Anyway, I think they were part of Dreamweaver, so I'll just leave it alone until it acts up, if it ever does. Thanks again.

I am preparing my mac for selling, and I wanted to keep mountain lion on it, so I tried to install Recovery HD. however I accidentally clicked yes when it said it will delete from the external hard drive. So now all the files I had saved on there, including all my songs, are gone. I can't use time Machine because my time machine backups were on that hard drive. Someone please help me!!
If you erased that hard drive accidentally, there's not much you can do to easily recover. You can try some recovery utilities, like Data Rescue or File Salvage. The results are not likely to be pretty, as you will have lost the entire directory structure.
For the future, one set of backups is not enough, for precisely this kind of reason. Also, storing other data on the same drive as your backups is a similarly bad idea. Maintain a minimum of two separate backups, on two completely separate physical devices, and do not put any other data on any of those backup drives.
