Hi Alex,
Thanks for the screenshot - everything looks good there and you only have 3 primary partitions so the UEFI installer should be able to create a 4th ( HP_TOOLS ) partition.
Try this slightly modified method.
First, download the installer on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63001-63500/sp63065.exe
Next, if you don't have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip.  Please note, if you have a 64bit installation, download and install the .msi 64-bit x64 installer on the link below.

  • How do I delete HP_Tools partition & turn of beep on my DV7-6153ea?

    Hi Everyone,
I recently updated my bios with a HP update and a fourth partion called 'HP_Tools' has appeared on my new DV7-6153ea Windows 7 (sp1) laptop. My question is this... I don't want a fourth partition on my harddrive especially for 99mb. I'd like to completely remove this 99mb and partition - can I do this and how do I go about it?
Also, is there a way to turn the bios beep off when the laptop starts!!! It's so loud and disturbs people when I'm working!
    Sincerely, and with many thanks,
    Judd

I would personally recommend not to delete HP_TOOLS partition as its helpful during BIOS update process in case if you would like to do a rollback etc. Also HP_TOOLS partition is useful in running F2 (System Diagnostics) in case of any emergencies when required.
If you are still keen on deleting/removing it , Click start and type  "Disk Management "  without quotes and open Disk Management  window and right click HP_TOOLS partition and click Delete volume. This would also stop bios beep sound on the notebook.
I'm unsure how many times in a day you would restart your notebook where beep sound would annoy others but I'm very positive that you would hear that only once when you power ON the notebook.

  • Mavericks won't install after accidentally deleting recovery partition on 10.6.8

I have been searching for hours for a solution and found none.
Essentially, I was running 10.8 on my MBA which originally came with 10.6. Wishing to perform a clean install of Mavericks, I accidentally deleted the recovery partition. Installing Mavericks would then always crash midway; so eventually I reinstalled my original OS from the bootable disc from apple. Then I figure I had to create a bootable disc for Mavericks, which I did, and the result is the same, the installation crashes midway.
Any other way I could install 10.9?
    Thanks

Mavericks creates a recovery partition while installing.
So, no previous recovery partition needed.
But playing whith partitions could be a mess.
    Try a clean reinstall.

  • Accidentally deleted Firmware partition.

Am I screwed? Is there some way I can do what apple would do when I send it in, or is this one of those things apple has to repair?

No no, nothing like that. I'm talking about the actual partion on the ipod itself. THe partition that holds the firmware of the ipod. I accidentally deleted it. So now when I try to use the updater the updater cannot find the ipod. The only functions that stiff work are the self diagnostic tools, and the ability to load it up under the disk option.
Outside of this it just keeps saying restore your ipod with iTunes. THis however is not possible as iTunes and the iPod updater do not recognize the iPod when it is connected. The iPod can be seen as drive however.
Any help. I probably just going to take it back to best buy tomorrow and see what they say, hopefully They'll just give me a new one.

  • Mountain lion - accidentally deleted recovery partition

    Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help.  I have a Macbook Pro Retina, bought new in December 2012 with Mountain Lion preinstalled.  It's been having a lot of sleep issues and, to try and fix these, I attempted a clean install of the OS.  However, I messed up and accidentally erased the recovery partition as well as Macintosh HD (when I boot up and hold down Cmd, the recovery partition is missing).
I can reinstall the OS using internet recovery.  The problem is that, when I do this, it installs Lion instead of Mountain Lion (even though the computer was bought new with Mountain Lion preinstalled).  And, of course, I can't download ML (withut paying) as I have never purchased it (other than 'inherently' purchasing it with the new mac).
    Can anyone help?
    Many thanks in advance.

That is incorrect. When using the online internet recovery system (booting the system from the Apple servers over the internet) the version of OS X that is available is what originally came installed from the factory on that particular Mac computer. No Apple ID is required or needed to use the online internet recovery system.

It may be that when you first fired up your computer, you used a different Apple_ID that the one you are suing regularly today..
What Mac OS X version you get when re-installing depends on the Apple_ID.

  • I cannot recover accidentally deleted partition.

When I tried to install windows 7 through the boot camp assistant, I accidentally deleted a partition of 200gb. I think it was #1. How can I recover it in os x 10.9? The OS X 10.9 shows 200gb less the total hard-drive space. Thanks.

If the photots weren't backed up, there's no way to recover them.

  • I accidentally deleted my windows partition

I had created a 100GB partition for windows on my 500GB hard disk from BootCamp and accidentally deleted the windows partition and I've got that 100GB free that I cannot use anymore. The partition cannot be resized and that's it. Please suggest a way in which I can get rid of that free space and resize my hard disk without losing ant data.

    there are 2 options here,
    1) use bootcamp assistant to delete your failed partition and reinstall windows. or,
The OP has already deleted it, can't delete it again
    2) using disc utility open your hdd (use the original branded name, not the short name of the same drive)
select "partition" highlight your failed partition, click the minus button then click apply. this will give you your 100GB back. from here you will be able to start over with bootcamp again if you wish.
Once more, the partition is already deleted, how can it be deleted again?

  • I accidentally deleted my windows 8 partition.

    Hi.
As the title states, i accidentally deleted and reformatted the partition that windows 8 was installed on, on my EliteBook 8570p, and now the recovery tool states that it is unable to restore because of a said missing partition. I was wondering if there was any way i could restore or format back the partition in question.
    Many Thanks.

I guess i should state that this happened during a botched install of windows 7. Right now, i just want to see if i can restore windows 8 in it's original setting to this computer.

  • I accidentally deleted my recovery partition. Any way to get it back without taking it to the Genius bar?

Like I said... I accidentally deleted the recovery partiton while in Windows (bootcamp), thinking it was a partition on an external drive.
NOTE: Don't mess around with the system and drives when you are tired!
Now, is there wany way of etting it back without buying a utility for $99, or visitin the Genius bar? And If I have to take it to Apple, will it get wiped? With those two Q's asked, out of curiosity I tried booting with Command R and was able to get to the re-install option for Mountain Lion (but didn't actually do anything). With the Cmd R option and live download, do I really need the partition?
    Thanks.

Unless someone has come up with some third party utility, I fear you will have to at least reinstall the OS X partition. At worst, you may even need to redo the entire drive and hose the BC setup as well.
First try cloning the OS X partition onto an external drive, wipe and reinstall OS X, the migrate the stuff on the external clone back in (this recovers the apps, files and configs. Not the OS).
Command-R is working cause the Mac is pulling the Recovery boot code off Apple's servers. If you're stuck somewhere with no reasonably speedy Internet, you'd be stuck. Hence the convenience of having a local version of the thing.

  • Accidentally deleted "Recovery HD" partition

I accidentally deleted "Recovery HD" partition. How can I get back or re-install it?
I'm using MacBook Pro Retina 13"
    Intel 2.4 GHz Core I%
    OSX 10.9.2

Only if you use Disk Utility to first erase the drive. Otherwise, it should install all new OS files over the existing ones, and recreate the hidden Recovery partition. Your third party apps, user account and personal files will remain as they are.
But as mentioned, there's always the possibility something will happen that shouldn't, and you could lose files. So have a full backup in place, first.
