Accidentally deleted itunes folder.

in my zeal to create more space on my laptop i deleted my itunes folder thinking I had everything backed up. Then I remembered that 2 nights ago i bought 2 albums from itunes.
does anyone know of a good recovery program that would help me get them back? I've tried Norton UnErase 8.0 but no luck. Are there any others out there?
thanks in advance
donna

I know you can get your old puchased music back.At the top of the window you can click you can click store then check for purchases. If for some reason that doesn't work if you synced your iPod before you lost your music it you are ok. When you plug in your ipod it will say some purchased music is on your ipod but not on your computer and click tranfer. but all the other songs you will have to convert them back into your computer. When you get all your music back you probably need to back it up by clicking file back up to disc.
Let me know if it works

Were you in iTunes or the Finder? If you were in iTunes what exactly did you click? You say "a folder" but the only "folders" in iTunes contain Playlists and deleting a playlist will not delete tracks from the iTunes library.
When you deleted the music were you prompted to delete the tracks from the cloud? If so, did you do so?
Were you prompted to move the files to the Trash. If so did you do so? If you did have you emptied the Trash?

  • Accidentally deleted iTunes, is there anyway I can download it again and have it just back up my iPod instead of clearing it of all data? All of iTunes files are still on my computer, but the actual program got deleted.

I was trying to clear space on my C drive and decided to delete programs that I didn't use or that I didn't recognize. (Bad idea, I know that now.) Anyways, accidentally deleted a program that iTunes needed to run and the computer said it would undo the uninstall and restart to fix the problem but when it restarted iTunes was gone. So my question is, after I download iTunes again, is there a way I can just backup my iPod to it's last sync (which was coincidentally right before I accidentally deleted iTunes) instead it being cleared of all its data? All of iTunes' files are still on my computer except the actual program itself.

    Hi, InsaneCharlie.
Thanks for the question.  I see you have uninstalled iTunes and want this program back.  Start with completely uninstalling iTunes if present and all of it's components in the order specified in the article below.  Once this is done, download and install iTunes.  If none of your data was modified in the iTunes media folder, then your data should be present upon installation.

  • Accidentally deleted trash folder

    Hello,
I have searched everywhere trying to find a solution.  I had one folder on my desktop that had several subfolders inside of it.  I was deleting some desktop items and accidentally deleted this folder as well and then I emptied the trash folder.  I unfortunately never set time machine up on my iMac.  I also purchased a program to try to restore my files with no success.
Does anybody have any suggestions?  I thought about trying to restore it to a prior time, but everywhere I am reading says that you need to have backed everything up with Time Machine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you deleted it then it's gone. Only thing would be if you had a backup then you could recover

With no backup, you can't. The data is gone.

  • Accidentally deleted /var folder, now recovery utilities not responding to trackpad/keyboard!

So I did something completed stupid, and now have a big problem.
I accidentally deleted /var folder and emptied the trash!!
Now my MBP is stuck at the grey start up screen with the apple & spinng wheel and won't start up..
The weird thing is, now when I enter recovery utilities, everything displays fine except I cannot click anything! The mouse pointer moves but won't respond to clicks! Same with the return on keyboard. Arrow keys work to move among 4 options on os x utilities (time machine/ reinstall/ online help/ disk utility) but when I hit enter, no response! The trackpad & return key works fine up until the point where the mbp asks which language to run the recovery utilities.
All my data is backed up online, and now I just want to reinstall os x and start using my mbp again!
I tried reinstall with an installation disc by holding down 'c' on start, then I hear the installation dvd spinning for 3 seconds, then it would start ticking and won't do anything else for a few minutes until I force shutdown.
Please!!! Can anyone help me?? How can I reinstall os x??  I would really appreciate!!
Thank you Thank you Thank you in advance.

I know it's late but maybe it will help other people.
I ran into the same issue and none of the solutions listed by apple helped.
I booted into single-user mode and I read the log in /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/private/var/log/system.log, it was full of errors like theses
    Dec 30 18:03:28 MacBook-Air locationd[352]: libcoreservices: _dirhelper: 454: mkdir: path=/var/folders/zz/zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_n00000sm00006d/C/ modes[2]=0700: No such file or directory
Dec 30 18:03:28 MacBook-Air.local locationd[352]: could not create persistent store directory (Input/output error)
    Dec 30 18:03:28 MacBook-Air locationd[352]: libcoreservices: _dirhelper: 454: mkdir: path=/var/folders/zz/zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_n00000sm00006d/C/ modes[2]=0700: No such file or directory
The system actually tried to create directories in /var/folders but the directory /var/folders did not exists, so I created it:
    Under single-user mode:
    mount -o update /
    cd /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/
    mkdir var/folders
    mkdir var/folders/zz
    reboot
And it booted just fine !

  • Deleted iTunes folder, lost paid for applications, how do I get them back?

    OK,
I accidently deleted my iTunes folder from its location in My Music (Windows Vista) and after doing so when I opened iTunes my entire library had disappeared. Not a problem I thought, as my music is in a different location anyway. So I rebuilt my library. Thats all done, but when I sync'd my iPhone up it obviously wiped the music, and applications! Now I do not seem to be able to get thee applications back. I have a few that were downloaded on the phone but none of the ones paid for! Is there a way to retrieve them???

Just download them again, and iTunes should recognise on your account that you've already paid for them in the past and not charge you.

  • Accidentally deleted History folder in Safari on IPad 4.

I must have accidentally deleted the History folder from the Bookmarks/Favorites bar in Safari (iPad 4) and I currently have no way of viewing my web browsing history on the actual iPad. Private browsing most definitely is not the problem, as is the suggestion I keep seeing for this type of question.
Is there anyway I can get my history folder set back up?  Here is what I am working with:

    To illustrate.

  • Help. Deleted iTunes folder. No backup. No time machine.

OS 10.5.8  iTunes 10.6.3  I deleted and emptied the trash of  my itunes folder. I still have an external media folder with all the content organized by iTunes into subfolders. What do I do now?

OS X Lion users lose support for Time Machine backups with third-party NAS hard drives. Time Machine in OS X Lion is now only compatible with Netatalk 2.0. This means that third-party NAS (network attached storage) drives will need a software upgrade from their respective manufactures in order to work with Apple’s next-generation Mac operating system. Users of cable-connected external hard drives will not be affected.

  • Accidentally deleted Utilites Folder

    Hi,
I have accidentally deleted my Utilities folder in 'Applications' thinking it was a folder for Adobe CC which I wanted uninstalled.  Trash Can has been emptied, also, and to pay for my sins I never had Time Machine turned on, never thought I'd need it.  Oops.
I have a late 2012 (i think) iMac 27". It does not have a disk drive so no good using Disc to reinstall anything. Is there anything I can do?  To be honest I didn't even realise anything was wrong until I tried clicking on 'About This Mac' and got nothing.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Phil

Restore it from your Time Machine backup or boot into the Recovery Partition (Command + R) on startup and reinstall OS X. This re-install will not overwrite your data files, however you should ALWAYS have a backup in place before doing so.

  • Help Please - Accidentally Deleted Private Folder

    Please could someone help.
I have accidentally deleted the Private folder in the root of the HD
    Now OSX will not boot.
The folder is sitting in my Trash folder and I would like from the Boot CD Terminal to copy back from the trash to the Macintosh HD/ location
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Mim

Not quite: If MimUK's account shortname is (for example): mimuk
then it would be within that account's Trash, namely, you'll have to (yes) boot from another volume (not sure this will work booted from CD, but it might), *mount the drive in read+write mode*
ie (possibly requiring sudo, depending on circumstances):
    sudo mount -uw /Volumes/nameOfTheDriveInQuestion
    sudo mv /Users/mimuk/.Trash/private /Volumes/nameOfTheDriveInQuestion/
Moral of this story: don't make hidden folders visible for reasons just such as this
And in any case, don't delete something unless you know full well what it's for.

  • How do I permanently delete itunes folder on mac hd ?

I want to use my external for library.

    You have two alternatives:
    1. Change the location of the library in the Advanced section of iTunes preferences.
    2. Create an alias to the new iTunes folder's location and place the alias in the original locations. Then delete the newly made iTunes folder you find there and rename the alias to iTunes.

  • Accidentally Deleted App Folder

I moved many of my most-used business apps to the Tools folder, then, while trying to move it I accidentally deleted it. Where did all the apps go and how do I get them back, or can I restore the old folder? The online message says the apps are moved to the bottom of the home screen but my home screen doesn't have any apps, only folders. Help appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1. On your homescreen, press the Menu key > SHOW ALL, so that SHOW ALL is checked.
    2. Look in EACH folder on your device... Applications, Instant Messengers, Downloads, etc.
If you still don't see it, look at Options > Advanced > Applications. Do you see it listed there?
