Accidentally Deleted iWeb sites

I accidentally deleted two sites from iweb. I had not yet published them to a folder. Is there any way to get them back? Anywhere I can look on on hard drive for these files? They must have gone somewhere!
Thanks

If you deleted them from iWeb and closed iWeb they are gone unless, as Fredrrr suggested, you got lucky with TM. If you haven't closed or saved iWeb type Command+Z several times to see if you can get them back.

  • Hard drive reformatted. Need to delete iweb site. No backups available

Hard drive was reformatted and the iweb site material obviously lost. I would like to delete all the iweb pages i have posted using 'mobile me' as they do not show anything. Is this possible. I though it would be possible to delete the pages using 'mobile me' online.

Mount your iDisk and use the Finder to navigate the folder structure.
Delete the contents of the "Web" (no quotes) folder and all of your previously published pages will disappear.
Redo your pages in iWeb and Publish again to make new pages.

  • Deleting iWeb Site in only one location?

I recently moved my iWeb site from one computer to another. It opens perfectly, can be edited, etc.
My question is... if I delete the site from the first computer, will it be permanently deleted from the Internet??

iWeb will ask you that. If you confirm, iWeb will delete the site on the server, if you answer No, nothing will happen.
To avoid that, change the settings to "publish to folder" (no need to actually choose a folder). Now you can safely delete the site in iWeb.

  • Restore deleted iWeb site from Trash

Rather stupidly I managed to right mouse click on my main site within iWeb and select delete.
The site is now sitting in my trash, but I can't find a way to get it back into iWeb!
    Can it be done?

The site is now sitting in my trash
What is it exactly that you see in your trash that you think is your site?
There's no way to import anything into iWeb. You need to have a backup of the Domain file, which is normally located in Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb.

  • Deleting iweb site from mobileme

I have moved my web site to a new hosting service.  All OK.
However, I realise now that I did things in the wrong order really.  I wanted to leave a stub on the old MobileMe site redirecting my audience.  I did this by deleting my website from MobileMe on my iDisk (I stupidly did not delete the index.html file - but have realised my error and redeleted my 'new' stub website and the index.html file and then republished.  Even though I gave the site the same name as my old site MobileMe has insisted on changing it by taking off the last letter and adding _1, so that when anyone tries to visit the old site they just get a whole lot of stuff from MobileMe which is not useful.
I realise now I should first have duplicated my site - given the duplicate a new name and published this to the new host, deleted all the pages from my original website except the new Home page, and republished this to MobileMe.  Alas I did not do this.  Is there any way of getting my 'new' marker website to publish to the original MobileMe address?
I guess it's no big deal really.  Mine is not a major website - it's just a family history website (now at www.dearmanmollett.id.au - originally http://web.me.com/dearmanmollett/Dearman_Mollett_Family ( think))  After all MobileMe will make it all disappear anyway on June 30 I assume - but I would really like to delete all trace of the former website except for a marker site redirecting traffic.
Hoping at the very least that my problem will help others.

You could replace the first page of the old site on MMe with a blank one containing an HTML snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
parent.window.location = "URL TO SITE YOU WANT TO REDIRECT TO"; </script>
Thanks to Cyclosaurus for this code
When a visitor lands on the page they will immediately be redirected to your new website.

  • I just published to BC and then accidentally deleted my site on my computer. Anyway to download the site from BC so I do not have to re-create my site?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hello,
If you didn't have a backup of the file, I'm afraid the file can't be recovered. It's not possible to recreate the .muse file from the exported files and folders, and Muse will only be able to open a .muse file for editing purposes.
If you are good with HTML related coding then you can use Dreamweaver to edit your site.
You can use InBrowserEditing as workaround in case InBrowserEditing was enabled at the time of publishing the site (This is very limited feature). Please refer to link below.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/muse/using/in-browser-editing-websites-third-party-hosting.html
Also you can try any recovery tool to check the possibility to recover the deleted files.
If that do not work then only option will be to recreate the muse file.

  • Iweb site deletion

Is there any way to restore a deleted iweb site, that was accidently deleted from iweb.
    Jeff

Not unless you have a backup of the Domain.sites2 file found in Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb.
If you have the published files you can launch them in the browser by double clicking the index.html file and retrieve a lot of the stuff using copy and paste. Open the media folder to grab the contents.

  • Accidentally deleted domain files trying to create a second site...

This is my first post so please be merciful
I used the freeware iWebsites (that some of you know) and I was attempting to create another website with a different domain name for our church. I accidentally deleted the domain files BUT not before I published a backup to my desktop.
Now when you type the address:
    http://web.mac.com/elementpicturesmaui/
You get the template for the church site:
    http://web.mac.com/elementpicturesmaui/iWeb/New%20Site/Welcome.html
But this is the one I want to keep for my business:
    http://web.mac.com/elementpicturesmaui/iWeb/Site/Welcome.html
    So how do:
    1. I get the first address to go back to my third address.
    2. Create a new web.mac.com address for my church
    3. I guess also to delete that second address?
Thank you very much for taking the time to help.

    So how do:
    1. I get the first address to go back to my third address.
Modify the index.html file on the .Mac server. First, navigate to your iDisk files using the Go menu in Finder, and drag the index.html file to your desktop so that it is copied there.
    Go/iDisk/MyiDisk/Web/Sites/index.html
Make a folder and place this copy inside for safekeeping. If anything goes wrong you can put it back on the iDisk.
Launch your Text Edit.app, and under preferences, in Text Edit, check the box for Ignore rich text commands in HTML files.
Now choose File/Open/iDisk/Web/Sites/index.html. You should see this (or something very close to it) in a Text Edit window:
You will change it to this:
Note that not very much changed here...just the name of the site in the url. Your old site is simply named, Site, in your iWeb application. You are just changing the index.html file to point to that site versus the New Site. So really, all you will do here is delete the word New in the index.html file. Now, File/Save. Not Save As...; just File/Save. Now your short .Mac url (web.mac.com/elementpicturesmaui/) should point to the correct site.
    2. Create a new web.mac.com address for my church
You will need to buy a Domain name and forward it to your web.mac.com address; you could also use the .Mac hosting via a cname alias if you want. Purchase your Domain name from a registrar like Yahoo or GoDaddy.
    3. I guess also to delete that second address?
You can delete these files from your iDisk by simply dragging them to the trash.

  • Deleting an iWeb site with movies

I have been using my iWeb site while abroad to send small movie clips etc home to the family, now I am home, I want to delete that content and start a new website altogether.
If I delete the local copies of the files does it update the site too? and where can I find the movies as I want to keep them but not on the site.
    Thanks all
    Geoff

When you initially put the movies into iWeb how did you do this? Did you create the movie page directly from iMovie or did you drag and drop the videos into iWeb?
When you use a movie in iWeb, iWeb places a copy of the movie in your Domain file. If you drag and drop from your "movies" folder into iWeb, that original file stays right in the movies folder. So, if you were bringing your media from other places (even if you use the Media inspector) into iWeb, deleting that content does NOT delete your originals.
If you deleted it after copying it to save space, now you've only got one copy IN your Domain file. In that case, you could control-click on your Domain file, choose "Show Package Contents" and then copy out the movie files before you delete the content in iWeb.
If you're not sure if you want to completely erase everything you've done, you can always save off your Domain file for future use. Once you've got it filed away, you can create a whole new site in iWeb knowing that anything that you forgot to make a copy of, you still have available.

  • Deleting old iweb site

i have an old iweb site from 2006 that i need to bring down yet do not have the original domain file. Google webmaster denied request to make it unsearchable.
any ideas on how to do this?

Where are you hosting the site? If it's MobileMe just mount your iDisk, go to the iDisk/Web/Sites folder and drag the site folder to the trash bin in the Dock.
If it's a 3rd party hosting service, can you access the server with an FTP client like Transmit or the free Cyberduck which lets you access your directory/folder in a Finder like window? If so then just select the site folder and drag it to the trash.
If you can't access the server to delete files create a new site with iWeb, one that has the same site name and only one blank page, and publish that to the server.

  • If I accidently deleted my site in iWeb, but it's already been exported...

Can anyone help me repair the damage I just did?? By trying to create two separate websites through iwebsites, I accidently deleted my two websites created in iWeb. If all the files for both sites were exported onto my hard drive, is it possible to reimport them back into iWeb, instead of having to start from scratch? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Best,
    Leigh

The key file to look for is iWeb's Domain file. It's usually here:
User > Library > Application Support > iWeb
If you cannot find that, iWeb's HTML files (generated when you publish) cannot be used to re-establish your sites. In the absence of the Domain file the best you might do is copy & paste images and other "content" from the published HTML files into a fresh iWeb site.

  • IWeb site deletions

Recently updated to Leopard and the iLife '08.
Started first with some tinkering using iWeb, which is a new concept for me compared to the iLife that I was using ('04). I created and published 2-3 sites using iWeb with relative ease and was pleased with the results of my "testing".
These sites appeared on my .Mac in My Pages, but when I login to my .Mac account and click on the www button, I'm taken to the .Mac HomePage, and none of the "Sites" appear.
Can I only delete these "Sites" by going to my iDisk and deleting the folders?
I'm looking for a simpler method of maintaining these iWeb sites, including deleting them.
    HWBA
    Regards,
    -jP

Your iWeb sites are in the Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites folder.
The URL to get to them is ...
    http://web.mac.com/username/sitename/pagename.html

  • Protect documents from accidental deletion/modification by site administrator

    Hi,
I have several documents in a SharePoint site that should never be modified/deleted (except under extraordinary circumstances), so I'd like to make sure that even when logged in as Site Administrator I can't delete/edit these documents accidentally (though
obviously I'd be able to grant myself permission to do so). I've tried just about every combination of permissions I can think of (at site collection, site, list and document level) but to no avail.  Surely I'm missing something obvious?
The closest I've got is putting them in a library requiring check out and having them checked out to the system account, but that's far from ideal.
    Thanks
    Dylan

that's not easy thing you trying to achieve. One thing manage your recycle because if a document deleted from a user, its still recover able in 60 days or what ever setting you select.
here is if you want create a event reciever: http://www.the14folder.com/2011/07/20/prevent-accidental-deletion-sharepoint/
or in 2013 you can use Ediscovery feture.

Better ask in the iWeb forum.
Answer : inspector > first icon from the left > uncheck 'Display navigation menu'
For future reference, also look at the other icons.
