If it's in a backup, restore it from there.
If not and the computer's running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, install it from the Mac OS X install DVD, using Pacifist if needed, and then run the combo updater for that version as well as all applicable Safari and security updates.
If not and the computer's running Mac OS X 10.7 or newer, restart with the Command and R keys held down and reinstall the OS.

  • Accidentally deleted Safari – Where to find download?

    Good morning fellas
I accidentally deleted Safari, and i really need to have it back. Can I download Safari?
    Thanks,

    Powerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi Alex,
It's important to have the Installer DVD (2 Discs for some) for a variety of reasons: installing the OS, Disk Management (e.g. repair function for the Hard Drive, reinstall of Apple software, etc.). If you can't find it, I encourage you to purchase another one - have a look on Ebay. Must be either a commercial version, or one specific to the G4 Powerbook. Other types of Tiger Installers may not work on your machine.
Adding to ~Bee's helpful comment/suggestion, type Safari in the spotlight panel. Does Safari.app appear? (in your System Preferences>Spotlight, "applications" needs to be checked for .app types to appear in your Search.) If it doesn't appear, then the only way you'll be able to reinstall Safari is via the DVD Installer Disc.
Upgrading to 10.4.8 may cause installation complications if the Installer looks for Safari and cannot find it on your system. So I suggest waiting until you get the Safari piece resolved.

I accidentally deleted my safari web browser from a macbook air . how do i get it back

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Accidentally deleted safari content and the 10.9.4. Mavericks update also didn't get it back.

I accidentally deleted the contents of Safari and it cannot be downloaded. Even after updating to 10.9.4 Mavericks (which should have included the new Safari 7) it is not back. Thank you.

Boot into recovery mode and reinstall the OS.

  • I accidentally deleted Safari and I can't re-install it

I accidentally dragged Safari to my trash and emptied it without realizing it was in there. Tried to re-install Safari from Apples' download site, but it keeps telling me I have the wrong version of the OSX (even though I don't, I have the latest 10.5.2).
I've tried to search online for solutions, but I only get articles about people solving this on older OSX versions using the OSX install DVD. This hasn't worked for me, or, at least, I don't know how to.
    Help would be appreciated. Thanks

Insert the Leopard DVD and open the "Optional Installs" folder.
Double click the Optional Installs.mpkg icon.
Click the small triangle in front of the Applications folder to expand the list.
Place a check mark next to Safari and run the installer.
Use Software Update to move to the most current version.

  • I accidentally deleted Safari...

When I was removing a bunch of applications I didn't need anymore, I also inadvertently deleted Safari from my computer. Is there a way I can reinstall my internet browser?

Hi kevin, Welcome to Apple's Users Help Users Forums.
I think you need Safari 2.0.4 already installed. I see you are OS 10.4.9. Let's leave it that way till the Safari issue is solved.
Thanks to Andy Ball in this forum, a simple method exists to get straight to Safari 2.0.4.
First, download via your current browser a copy of Safari from this site
    http://rapidshare.com/files/16056640/Safari.zip.html
to obtain a zip file of Safari. On this site page, select "free", then on the following page you'll need to wait about 30 seconds for the target site options to appear. Select one of them, fill in the "alpha/numeric prompt", and the file will download.
After the new Safari application is mounted, go to the Finder and move the Safari.app to your Applications folder.
You might want to do Software Update as the link is somewhat old.
Go to the Utilities folder>Disk Utility and "repair permissions".
    Good Luck, JP

  • I accidentally deleted safari on my 2006 mac os x 10.5.8 how do i reinstall it?

I was trying to update it but ended up deleting it somehow and that was my ONLY browser...how can i install it back?

You can try downloading it on your windows computer :
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1422
    the direct link is
    http://supportdownload.apple.com/download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/Mac_OS_X/downloads/041-5122.20110720.2HQcx/Safari5.0.6Leopard.dmg
If you still have an internet connection on the Mac, it can be downloaded directly using the following command in Terminal (you'll find that in /Applications/Utilities).
    curl -o ~/Desktop/Safari.dmg http://supportdownload.apple.com/download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/Mac_OS_X/downloads/041-5122.20110720.2HQcx/Safari5.0.6Leopard.dmg
just copy the entire line above, from c at the start of curl, all the way through the g at the end of Leopard.dmg, then paste it into Terminal & press enter. After some minutes, depending on internet speed, you'll see the % progress reach 100, and a file named Safari.dmg will be on your Desktop. Open it to install like any other dmg, & always check that the download address is from somewhere  you trust ( in this case : ...supportdownload.apple.com/... )
All the above is for Safari 5.0.6 for OS X 10.5.8 Leopard. Don't use that if that isn't what you have.

  • I have accidentally deleted Safari and can't get it back...

I've read previous topics about this problem, but none of them have solved it for me.
I'm running Tiger, and do not have Leopard.
I tried the install disc method which involves running the Optional Installs.mpkg file, but that file is not on my install disc. I do have a similar file, but among the programs it installs (such as Garage Band, Mail, etc), Safari is not one of them.
It's probably worth noting that I do have Safari.app in my applications folder, but the icon is a generic application icon, not the safari icon, and when I click to run it, it tells me it is incomplete or damaged, and cannot run.
Please, I'd really appreciate any solution to this problem. Thank you.

*Hi Captain, Welcome* to Apple's Users Help Users Forums.
Neils method will certainly work. I think you can do it this way too. On your install disc look for Optional installs. You will then need to Combo update to where you want to be. (10.4.11)

  • Re: Deleted Safari 1.0 from G4 iMac /How to restore?

Accidentally deleted Safari app from iMac running 10.2. Used Software Restore discs to try and get it back but apparently, it wasn't in there. Tried to find an older version of Safari on Apple's site, but struck out there, too. How can I download a fresh copy back onto my hd?

Excellent news Bill, glad to have helped, and thanks for the Star.
    Regards
    Jim.
PS. Did you look under "Custom Install" on the Install Disk? The option to Install Safari, without having to Install anything else, should be there. Let me know, and we'll do some more searching. Very interesting!.

  • Deleted safari 6

I accidentally deleted Safari 6 under OSX 10.7.4
I found a download and tried to install it, it shows the Safari icon but running it just brings up the Apple store.
How do I get a copy that I can reinstall and run.

The Safari app is a default app and cannot be deleted. Tap and slide down on a Home screen and type in Safari. You should be able to find it that way.

  • Deleted Safari *HELP PLEASE

    as he posts.
Hope that help some, please let us know.

p.s It should work perfectly of course it is depending on what was wrong
with Safari if there is a corruption in the preferences files, a new app won't help you will need to troubleshoot it.
