Accidentally deleting playlists....

Okay, now that I've accidentally deleted playlists a couple of times....
When answering the safety question "Are you sure you want to delete this playlist?" a while back, I also checked the "do not ask again" box.
Now that I've changed my mind, how can I get this question to appear again, since I told my Mac not to ask anymore...?
Thanks, -Otis

Works for me.
You quit iTunes, then deleted /Users/you/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist, correct?
When you restart iTunes, you should get the *Welcome to iTunes* screen.

  • Accidentally Deleting Playlists - Help?

How do I change the delete playlist prefernces in iTunes so I can get the "Are you sure you want to delete this playlist?" message back? I checked the "do not ask again" box a while back but after accidentally deleting so many playlists that I've spent a good deal of time creating I need at least something to help prevent myself from doing that again. This usually happens when I'm trying to delete just a song in the playlist; sometimes in iTunes it's hard to tell if I'm currently highlighting a playlist or a song.
I can't find the option to bring it back in the preferences area.
    Thanks for any help!

There is no option in preferences to get the warning back. What you have to do is delete the iTunes preferences files. Forget the article number

  • Accidentally Deleted Playlist

Please please please please PLEASE tell me that there is a way to revive this playlist!
My iPod playlist was seriously out of date, and before I went off and bought over a hundred songs, I went and found them, then added them to my playlist with the intent of buying them later.
So most of these songs were not purchased. I tried to delete one of them, and the next thing I knew, the entire playlist was gone!
I panicked and tried to find a way to revive the un-purchased songs, but I couldn't!
I spent such a long time trudging through iTunes to find these songs. Will someone please help me find a way to get them back?
    Thank you so much.

Open a Finder window. Under Places, select your Home Folder. On the right click:
Music. Any music that you have purchased from iTunes should be there, plus any music you have imported from CD's. Just drag the tracks to your iTunes Library.

  • Playlist Help (Accidentally Deleted Playlist)

I accidentily deleted a playlist from my iTunes library but I still have the music and playlist downloaded on my iPhone. Is there any way I can transfer the playlist back or off of my iPhone and onto its own separate playlist so I can transfer the same playlist to other devices?

Sorry but no. You'll have to recreate it as best you can.

If these playlists are still on your iPod, check out this older thread on how to export playlists from your iPod via iTunes.

Otherwise, I'm afraid you are of luck and will need to rebuild them.

  • Accidentally deleted a playlist, how do I recover it?

I think I accidentally deleted a playlist from my iTunes. I searched the trash, could not see it. Where did it go? I thought I deleted a song from my "purchased" area and I noted that the playlist I was adding to disappeared. Can I recover this? Where do I find the files? I tried to link my iPod to see if I could move it to the computer and it disappeared from my iPod as well. I did not empty my trash.
    Thanks
    Pete

    PS
I did find in my finder section under music several previous iTunes libraries are listed, the most recent being 10-4-08. I suspect these are some sort of automatic backups that the system does. Are these accessible? If so, how do I do that? If I double click the library nothing happens.
It seems I should probably have some external drive to use as a backup should this happen again. Suggestions welcome. I assume I could rebuild my playlist, though I can not recall what was all in it!
    Thanks

I accidentally deleted my recently added playlist. How do i get it back?

The default playlists are just Smart Playlists and you can recreate them. In iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist
    Recently Added:
Match the rule "Date Added">"is in the last">"1">"Days" make the days and the interval to suit yourself, you can have days, weeks or months.
Also check the box "Live Updating"

  • I accidentally deleted the "Recently Added" playlist from my iTunes Library

I accidentally deleted my "Recently Added" file that comes as one of the standard files with the iTunes program. I have been unable to get it back and sure would like this file as it is easier to trace new additions. Anyone know how I can do this? I tried just adding a new file but it does not recognize new additions.

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
To recreate the default *Recently Added* smart playlist:
Click *File > New Smart Playlist...*
Click the + symbol to the right hand side
The first line should now read:
Match all of the following rules
Change the next two lines to read
*Date Added is in the last 2 weeks*
    *Media Kind is not Podcast*
There should also be a tick against *Live updating*
Click OK and set the playlist name to *Recently Added*

  • In iTunes I accidentally deleted my "Recently Added" wheel playlist.  How do I get it back?

I was trying to clean up my playlists in iTunes and in doing so accidentally deleted my "Recently Added" wheel playlist.  I really want it back so I can see what I have recently added when I download or open things in iTunes.  Is there any way to get this wheel back?

Forget question.  Just saw solution elsewhere on this site.

  • I accidentally deleted my Recently Added playlist

Hi all! I accidentally deleted my Recently Added playlist. I made a new one with the smart playlist thing but I cannot get any new songs to automatically add to it. Does anyone know how to get songs to automatically add to it? I'm devastated without this playlist. It was my favorite. Thank you so much!

Any idea why the recently added list is set to 2 weeks? I would rather have had it set indefinately, so it always shows the last say 100 tracks. I seem to be abel to edit it to 100 tracks and set a date of 'in the last 12 months', but the date settings seems reluctant to accept an wild card asterisk.
    No major worries...

  • How to recover a playlist accidentally deleted in iTunes 10

Could someone PLEASE HELP ME on "How do I recover a playlist that I accidentally deleted in iTunes 10?

Addressing data loss problems always brings up matters of contention, since as-is your drive technically has the data on it and is currently at its most-recoverable state. Anything further you do to the drive (even standard use) will push it further away from this "most-recoverable" state, so if the data is vitally important (e.g., single copies of crucial financial, medical, or research documents), then the advice I'd give is to shut the system down as fast as possible, and take it into a reputable data recovery service center to have the drive's data restored.
On the other hand, there are some routines you can try to hopefully recover the data, and even restore the drive. Of course various recovery tools like Prosoft Data Rescue can scour the drive surface for file types and offer means to restore them, and disk utilities can sometimes repair a faultly partition. In this case, I'd recommend you try the tool "testdisk" which is built to recover missing partitions. I've used it once, and it was successful, but have not had extensive experience with it: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk
I'd recommend you read through the site and its step-by-step guides to see how best to use the tool, before giving it a go.

  • I accidentally deleted the "Recently Added" default playlist from iTunes. Any way to recover and reinstall it?

I accidentally deleted the "Recently Added" default playlist from iTunes. Any way to recover and reinstall it?

    File > New Smart Playlist
Call it "Recently Added" and make the rule that date added is in the last 2 weeks (or your preference for "recent").

  • Itunes Playlist Accidental Deletion

I accidentally deleted all of the playlists in my iTunes sidebar, including the pre-setup ones that come with the installation. Is there any way I can get those back? Like the "25 most played" and "Recently added".
    Message was edited by: appleof_myeye

Most of the preloaded playlists are nothing more than Smart Playlists (SPLs). So you can go to File -> Create Smart Playlist and recreate them.
For example, for the 25 Most Played SPL you want to make it look like this...
Because they are nothing more than SPLs you can also change them to suit your needs. For example, 25 not good enough? Then change it to the 50 most played or 100 or 97 or whatever you like.
    Cheers,
    Patrick
