Accidentally disabled in remove hardware window, cant re-enable my shuffle

I accidentally hit disable instead of stop in the safely remove hardware window and now my shuffle wont communicate with windows. Theres no way that i can see to enable it in device manager or use add hardware wizard, it just sits at the detecting new hardware stage and does nothing. what should i do?? ive tried restarting the ipod and windows

What you need to do is update or reinstall the USB hub. It's sort of difficult, but if you keep to the instructions without straying, you'll do fine. I've attched the article # on here so you can go straight to the help link.

  • Accidentally disabled and removed DVD player

I think I uninstalled/removed my DVD drive. I accidentally clicked on the add remove device icon on my toolbar and for some reason it uninstalled/removed the DVD drive completely, as if my computer doesn't have a disk drive and now the DVD drive won't read any disks. I tried going to the hardware properties to do the enable/disable thing, but it doesn't show up there. It's like I deleted it completely. Short of a reinstalling everything, what can I do to restore the functionality of the DVD drive?
I'm using a HP Pavilion DV4-1265dx laptop using windows 7.

    Hi,
First, try the automated fixit from Microsoft on the link below.
    Windows 7
Check if the drive is now working.
If it still doesn't work, click the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow                 ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Next, click the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and click on Device Manager.  Next click to open DVD/CD-ROM Drives.  Right click the drive and select uninstall.  Do not delete drivers if asked.  When the device has uninstalled click on the 'Scan for Hardware Changes' icon ( usually just below Help on the toolbar ).  Let windows reinstall the drive and see if it now works.

  • USB Drives works, but does not show up in "Safely Remove Hardware"

USB Drives works, but does not show up in "Safely Remove Hardware"
    windows 8
USB Drives works, but does not show up in "Safely Remove Hardware"
    Here are my symptom
    - USB Flash Drives , USB External HDD works normally
    - I can see them in "My Computer"
    - I can open "Safely Remove Hardware" via Run Command, but there is no device in the list
    - They show up as "Disk drives" in device manager
    - When I right click their icons in "My Computer", there is no option to "Eject" them
    - In "Disk Management", they show up as "Basic". Prior to this issue, they were "Removable"
After I tested, it seems that my Vista detects every USB storage device as a normal HDD.
I don't know why but I'd appreciate any help because I have to plug-in and remove those drives often, especially flash drives.
    Thank you

i recently tried to remove widows7 on my macbook air using bootcamp and halfway through it grayed out .The windows 7 is removed but i cant free up the 62gig partition the windows was occupying on my 121gig ssd harddrive please help

You may have to see about using the Recovery HD partition to attempt to erase and restore useful function of the capacity lost to the former Windows installation.
And you may have to backup your contents outside the computer to do it. Disk Utility on the Mac OS X historically has not been able to touch a BootCamp created partition; so if BootCamp cannot remove it, then you have to see how to do the equivalent of a reformat of the entire drive (less Recovery partition?) then reinstall your OS X. Maybe from internet recovery, then get your applications, etc from the Mac App store, etc.
A complete system clone of your OS X on an external HDD would be another method to restore after reformat, of the portion you want whole again, not necessarily the space where Recovery may live.
    There may be (an)other way(s).
    Perhaps someone with recent experience
in this matter can reply & discuss options.
With my antiques, they almost know what I want before I tell them.
Hopefully yours will after you talk to it awhile.

  • Ethernet Controller & Safely Remove Hardware With Windows 7 On X200

    Hi,
I'm having a weird issue with Windows 7 on my X200. For some reason, my ethernet controller is being displayed in my system tray under "Safely Remove Hardware". Is anyone else having this problem? If you are not having this problem, would you mind checking what driver you are using so that I can try it as well?
I have the "Intel 11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter III" and I'm using the driver that was installed automatically from Windows 7 I presume. Its seems like the only option though...
Thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Windows 7 64bit Safely Remove Hardware Icon takes too long

With XP it takes 2 seconds to remove a jump drive with Safely Remove Hardware
But, on my Windows 7 pro 64 bit running a i3 Core-330M(2.13GHz) with 4GB RAM, it takesaround 30 seconds.
    Here is what happens:
#1: I get an hour glass for 7 seconds that goes away.
#2: Nothing happens. There is no feedback that anything is is still happening under the covers.
#3: After another 27 seconds the list of removable drives appears, and I can remove the drive.
I am resigned to just living with this, since it is not worth any effort to fix.
But, I would like to know if this is normal behavior.
If this is abnormal, perhaps my new Lenovo EDGE 14 may have some hardware problems?
Thanks ind advance for any light on how to solve this.
    Regards

  • Problem removing a window partition

today i installed window xp via boot camp, the installation seems fine all the way up until the step 'to install boot camp drivers'. after i inserted the Max OS X disc, it went thru the normal installation...etc. then towards the end i got the 'Found New Hardware Wizard' window and a second saying boot camp is finished. however, at this point the mouse is dead and i am unable to move it. i rebooted it a couple of times, still the mouse is disable.
so, i boot back to Mac OS, open up Boot camp and decided to remove the window partition. i chose 'If your computer has a single internal disk, click Restore'...
then i am at the 'restore disk to a single volume' with the status: partitioning disk spinning...
when i created the window partition i used 15G and i have the unibody macbook with 250G. however, this window's been spinning for the past two hours. i really don't think this should take this long. is this normal?
i do not want to re-install 10.5.5 and do a restore. what is the best way to delete the window partition? i suspect something is wrong with boot camp. what should i do?

  • Disable "Found New Hardware" and Stop it automatically installing.

    Hello All.
Ok the Issue I have is below and can't seem to find the correct answer I need.
    I have two dell WYSE
boxes running Windows XP. I have one with an SSD to do all my configurations on and one is a 4GB flash box for steaming on to using WYSE WSM.
I have created a locked down version of XP with all sorts of registry hacks and Group policy to stop the end user accessing
system files and control panel etc..
I have it the way I want it but when I stream to the Flash Box, it picks up it has a 4GB SATA drive in it and installs it
and creates itself a drive letter E:\ and puts an icon in My Computer. This going
completely against what I wanted, I don't want the end user to have local drives. ONLY pendrives.
    What I have done:
I have used group policy to restrict the view and access of A: B: C: & D: drives so it still allows me to use pen drives.
I have disabled some services to stop searing for new hardware on start up which hasnt worked.
There has been posts of going into device manager and disabling the hardware in there, but I cant do that on the FLASH box
as its already streaming and its locked down so cant the configs have to be made on the SSD box which doesn't have the 4GB flash drive in.
    Any ideas?
I hope there is enough information on here for an answer.
Lets pull our brain power together and get an answer.
As per other posts and infinite Google searches, I know that many other people has a similar issue.

  • SD CARD SLOT NOT SHOWING ON "safe to remove hardware" list ***NEWBIE**

i have purchased my very first imac and i have installed windows 7 through bootcamp. the first problem i have encountered is that when i insert a sd card or a back up drive via the usb port i do not get the "safe to remove hardware" icon i normally get on my pc. i am able to eject the sd card via the computer option when i right click the sd card i get the eject option but i do not get the option when i right click the portable hard drive. i have tried the "rundll" option wia "cmd" the "safe to remove hardware" box appears but the sd card and the portable hard drive do not appear. its as if the computer is not aware of anything in the slots.
when attaching multiple files in yahoo mail with a pc you just press the shift key does anyone know the equivilant for mac keyboard ?
thanks in adavance for your help

    Hi,
    odd...
If you open the Windows Explorer where are the SD-card and the USB-HD shown ?
Are they shown in the 'removable' section ?
Is thse USB-HD a 'Windows'-only HD or have you partitioned it to a Windows and a Mac OSX partition ?
Have you tried a different USB-port on your iMac for connecting the HD ?
What file system (FAT32 or NTFS) and what partition scheme (MBR or GPT) is used on the HD ?
And on the SD-card as well ?
As for the shift-key I don't that irregularity when using BootCamp Windows, but maybe that's because I still use WIndows XP with it.
Might be a very far reached guess, but who knows...: try the key-combo 'fn+shift-key' to enable/disable the scroll-lock... (very far.... I know).

    Hi mikeinkent
Your crash report indicate a problem with the Flash plugin (NPSWF32_11_5_502_146.dll).
Please update Flash to the latest version.
You can find the latest Flash player versions for Firefox on this page.

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • IPod doesn't sync to iTunes and "safely remove hardware" doesn't appear

I've got an iPod Nano (2nd generation) which is still in excellent condition. I download some songs from iTunes, and decide to sync them to my iPod. When I plug my USB adapter into my computer and then my iPod, I expectd the title "syncing iPod" to come up, but it didn't. I also looked at my taskbar, and the "safely remove hardware" icon was not there. Also, the device home for my iPod does not come up in iTunes, not allowing me to make any changes to my iPod. Can you help me with this very weird problem I am having?
