Have you tried to reset your iPod by toggling the hold switch (put it on hold then take it off) then holding the center and menu buttons at the same time for at least 6 seconds until the apple logo appears?

  • Ipod 5G missing from itunes, freezes with 'do not disconnect'

my ipod simply cant be seen on itunes and whenever i plug it in, it will freeze with 'do not disconnect' and not able to do a legal, safe removel.
hav to remove it illegally and do the 'reset' to clear the 'do not disconnect' message.
ipod is still functioning and can only be charged using direct power, but will freeze when its plug into usb port.
    any help on this?
    Thanks

this may seem crazy but.........i had a similar problem for quite a while. my ipod worked perfectly and then all of a sudden for no reason (i thought) my ipod would stall out. the do not disconnect would flash and i couldn't do anything. this happened to me regularly. i did the restore and all that jazz.
one day i was seriously in tears about it. my husband said he would mess with it and voila! it worked perfectly. was he magic? hardly but he took the case off of it. i didn't have a big hulking case but a rubberized one and i guess the bottom piece was just a bit off. it seemed to connect but in reality it wasn't making a good connection.
i took the case off and haven't used it since and have not had a similar problem. its a thought.........if you have a case or something that might be keeping it from making a good connection.

    - Try another cable.
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Try on another computer to determine if computer or iPod problem

  • Help! iPod is stuck "On" with Do Not Disconnect

This is my first time to join in the forum. I connected my iPod vedeo to my Dell computer to update it. I forgot that I had the iPod locked (pushed to Hold). The Do NOt Disconnect appeared as always. I came back in the room 10 minutes later and the DND message was still on and it had not updated. It apparently did not recognize my iPod. After trying to get it turned off (the DND message is still there and the buttons are not responding) I finally disconnected it anyway. There was no other choice. It is still "On" with Do Not Disconnect. I can't get it to turn off.

    welcome
do a reset.. push and hold the middle button and the menu button at the same time for 10 seconds..this may take a few trys and it works best if hooked to power..
    good luck

Can somone please help me with this

Try Resetting your iPod. Hold down the MENU and SELECT (centre) buttons for five or ten seconds until you see the Apple logo appear then the menu button to go to the normal display. Have a look at this link as well:

  • How do you disconnect an iPod if it is stuck with "Do not Disconnect"

I connected an iPod. It says "do not disconnect". But, it appears to be dead. iTunes does not say it is connected to the iPod. It does not show up in iTunes, so i cannot "eject". Nothing is happening. So, not knowing what to do, after about 10 minutes of waiting, i did disconnect. Now, the iPod is disconnected from the PC, but it still says "do not disconnect". The iPod does not respond to any button, such as "menu" or holding the Play button which would normally shut it off. I guess i can wait until the battery dies.
    Any better suggestion?
    Thanks, tom.

    Hey tomcon!
Happens to me lots... all you've gotta do is toggle your iPod's "HOLD" button on then off again, and then hold both the "SELECT" (Centre of Click Wheel) and "MENU" buttons for about 7-10 seconds.
This will perform a soft reset of your iPod and all in the world will be good again!
    Hope this helps!

  • Lots of problems with do not disconnect

It seems many of us are having this problem with our new nano's not having this message go away. I am starting to be convinced it wants to fully charge and that is why it won't go away. .
What happens if we just pull it out of the plug?

    A few things to note...
If you had contacted Apple about each of the issues that you reported here, they would  have kept a log of the problems that would help them determine whether to continue support after the warranty expires.
You might consider asking about "Flat Rate Repair Pricing." See the discussion thread here and note that some users report that the flat rate repair pricing is only available in the U.S. and Japan.

Actually, I had great  experiences with two different macs sent to the repair depot. One computer had narcolepsy on day one. Apple sent me a box, I packed up the PB and dropped it off at UPS. Apple fixed and returned to my house two days later. The second MBP had a known video card problem. I took it to an Apple Store Genius who ran a specifc test and deduct that it was the known defective video card. The store was out of parts and ordering would take a week. Knowing my past experience with the Repair Depot, I ask for that option. The genius took my MBP and shipped it to the depot that night. Three days later, I received the fixed MBP and on the work order, their tests showed failed fans that they also replaced. Three or four weeks later, the Apple Store called to tell me they got the video card in stock.
Gather up your grit, perseverance, and persistence before contacting Apple. Try bypassing phone support by contacting them via their online support system with the link I provided in the previous post. (I remember using the online support system and was able to choose to have them call me. At the time, I had AppleCare so i'm not certain with out-of-warranty.) Another option is to seek an authorized Apple service provider.
    Good Luck!

  • Disconnect while do not disconnect was there

my roommate disconnected my iPod nano without knowing to hit eject on iTunes and all the screen says no is www.apple.com/support/ipod with a folder and i cannot get it to go away. my windows explorer recognizes there is a drive, but will not let me access it, the updater and iTunes doesnt know its connected either.
    any ideas?

  • Another "DO NOT DISCONNECT" problem

Before I go on I have 2 Nano's , so the problem I have is only with one of them. So this should eliminate many of the potential solutions to this problem ie. it is not my PC , it is not i.tunes , it is not the charging / download lead etc etc. I have tried just about all the suggestions in the support section of the apple site.
Ok the problem I am having .
On one of my nano's , I connect it to my PC , and I get the "DO NOT DISCONNECT" etc. However this ipod is not recognised by i.tunes. No icon's on the nano screen are flashing , so it is frozen. When I disconnect it from the PC , the screen backlight is still on and the DO NOT DISCONNECT is still there. None of the buttons will work , the only thing to do is reset it , pressing the MENU and centre button for 6 secs. If this ipod is connected to the PC , I also do the reset , it resets but then goes straight back to DO NOT DISCONNECT as before. Still no response on i.tunes. Both my nano's have been used recently on this PC.
I have tried using ipod updater to restore this ipod but the updater freezes so I can't even get to the restore button.
When I reset the ipod , the ipod charges and you can play the songs , so it is working as it should from the point of view. but you just can't get it to connect to i.tunes and it freezes with do not disconnect on the screen , so my son is stuck with the same play list if I can't get this going.

iPod shows up in "My Computer" but not in iTunes
Here's something else, that you probably haven't heard about before. It's for if you are having an internal disk problem (which you are having).
Pick up your iPod and stand over a carpeted surface, witht the bottom play/pause side of the iPod facing the ground. Hold the iPod a couple feet above the ground (about at waist-height), and drop it.
This often solves people with disk problems, which some symptoms are: sad-faced iPod, not being recognized by iPod Updater, folder with exclamation point, not properly disconnecting.
    Hope this might solve it!

  • Nano Do Not Disconnect!

Having problems with Do Not Disconnect, as soon as I connect my Nano to the computer it goes into Do Not Disconnect. iTunes pops up and says that update is completed, but Do Not Disconnect never goes away. Been using the Nano for months now and this problem just started. Tried repairing itunes, tried resetting the ipod, have already completed the update as well. Noticed problem after trying to manual add and remove songs off ipod (which I never got to work), have switch setting back to automatic update songs and still having problems. I have ejected ipod for in itunes, but still shows Do Not Disconnect. I have also restarted my computer several times with no luck. What am I doing wrong?
    nano   Windows XP Pro

Okay so I guess my problem is not with the Do Not Disconnect screen, but with not being able to remove songs from my ipod. I tried selecting manully update songs and them unchecking the songs I did not want on my ipod, but when I do this and hit update it ups dates real quickly and nothing I deselected is removed from my ipod. Am I trying to remove songs from my ipod the wrong way? Don't want to delete the song from my library just want to remove from the ipod until i want to load it back on again. Help!

verify on another Mac if the same
WD is having issues with mavericks as you can see on the WD forum, did you install any WD software (never do that) when you connected the drive for the first time?
possible issue is a dead SATA bridge card or the new WD firmware w/ Mavericks.
