Accidentally erased app store.  need to update os fro 10.6.8, but how?

i erased the mac app store from my computer years ago when i didn't know what it was.  now i am finally getting around to update my macbook osx 10.6.8 but since i don't have the app store, i can't download a newer os.  i did find a app store download but it crashes upon opening.  my i tunes also crashes when connected to the internet.  i have a full back-up of the computer on an external hard drive and the original "tiger" installation dvd.  it seems that i need app store to update the os and then be able to use itunes 12 (which doesn't work on os 10.6.8).  i am new to all of this.  any help is appreciated!  thank you

Reinstall this update combo over what you have and it should reinstall the Mac App Store app.

  • Can not do anything on the app store ( need to update my payment method)

Ok, so i got my ipad about a year ago, and for the first three months, i have been using itunes cards to download stuff from the app store. Soon after this, i realised that since i dont really go out, it could be a bit of an inconvenience for me, so i decided to use my debit card instead. Things were great, until i reslised i had no money left on my account, which apple notifies you of by saying "your payment method has been declined". At first i was confused, but after trying to buy things from amazon and steam and getting the same error, i realised that i had no money. This is where the problem began. The fact that i couldnt buy apps didn't bother me, but what DID bother me was the fact that i couldn't update my apps, download free apps or even install apps i have already payed for without getting that **** error message. This lasted for a little while before i got more money on my account and it worked again. But that isn't the end of the story, about a week ago, i could no longer do anything on the app store without getting that error, EVENTHOUGH i have money on my account. I knew this because right after that error messaged popped up for the trillionth time, i brought a book from amazon with absolutely NO PROBLEMS.
I am so irritated. Fix this apple!

  • App store tries to update an app that doesn't need updating

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1.  For the last week or so whenever I try to update apps using the app store's "Update All" button I get an error saying:
Schwab Mobile and 1 other app cannot be purchased.
After which point the Schwab app is grayed out with a "Loading" bar on it.  The weird thing is that Schwab is already up to date, the version I have installed is 2.1.1.1 which according to the app store is the latest.  Also the app is not in the list of apps that the app store wants to update.  The app will become unusable while in this state since it never actually loads.  The only way out of it is to do a hard reset of the iphone using the home and sleep buttons.  The next time I try to update any app on the phone the same thing happens again.  I should add that all other updates complete just fine, they load and install and come back for use.
I've tried deleting and re-installing the Schwab app (which it can do just fine).  I've also tried syncing the phone with my mac, nothing seems to help.  It's mildly annoying to have to do a hard-reset after every time I update any app in order to get something I frequently use like Schwab back.
Any ideas what's up and how to fix it?  I don't know how to make the app store realize that it doesn't need to be purchased or updated or whatever.
    Thanks for any help!

Could you turn on automatic downloads on your phone and then trigger the download in iTunes?

I sure hope you are correct, Christoph. Seems one Mac site has questioned this also:

10.3 does not have the App Store available.      Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac and the following will bring it back depending on what you have:
Any version of 10.6, use the 10.6.8 Combo Update:
    Combo v1.1 (7/25/2011)
Any version of 10.7, use the 10.7.5 Combo Update: 10.7.5 Combo
Any version of 10.8, use the 10.8.5 Combo Update: 10.8.5 Combo
Any version of 10.9, use the 10.9.2 Combo Update: 10.9.2 Combo
Note, if you it does not bring it back, you may need to run the combo keys of command-R on boot restore if you have 10.7 or later, and then the appropriate Combo update.    If you have 10.6.8 or earlier, command-R restore is not available, and you need to either use the original 10.6 installer disc, if the Mac is newer than March 15, 2010, or the 10.6.3 retail disc found here for 10.6 compatible Macs that are older (that includes any Intel CPU Mac with at least 1 GB of RAM):
10.6 retail is available from the Apple Store on http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard (the /us/ in the link may be changed for the standard two letter country code matching the store link).
If you are using a PowerPC Mac, G3, G4, or G5 you can't install 10.6, or the App Store.
Those using 10.6.8 or earlier, do not jump to 10.7 or later, without reading this tip first:

I have the original iPad and I don't have an option in Settings, General for Software Upates. The App Store only has a Spanish version. Does anyone know how I can update to iOS 5?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

    Hey Duddy1888,
Thanks for the question. Try changing your payment information to “None”. If you are unable to select “None” as a payment option, see the following resource:
Why can’t I select None when I edit my payment information?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5366
Using an existing iTunes Store or App Store account
If you have an unpaid balance or payment due, you can't select None as your payment type. To see which order you need to pay for, view your purchase history. When you sign in to the store, you may see a message that there was a billing issue with your last order. Click the Billing Info button to see the order.
After you pay for the order, you can change your payment information to None.

  • App Store on iPhone - Updates Problem

    Hello Geeks,
I do not believe anyone is experiencing my problem but just in case one of you experts out there will know a quick fix for this.
My App Store icon is showing a number "3". That is how many apps on my phone that have an update available. I proceeded into the store and updated the apps on my phone. Done!
Problem, that was a few days ago. Ever since that update the number "3" on the icon has not reset and it's still showing although the apps have already been updated. Furthermore, iTunes today is showing me that there are apps available for updates but my App Store on the phone is not receiving a new list of updates.
So essentially the app store program on the phone seems to have the updates feature stuck. The update number counter for the icon is not resetting. The updates feature in the app store checks for updates but finds none although there is. Everything else is working, i.e. searching and installing apps.
    Thanks!

Exactly as the poster above me.
Here is some more info for you guys. If you need more, let me know!
My 1st iPhone had this problem, did a full restore on it still had the problem, then had a hardware issue and exchanged it. The 2nd iPhone, got it, put old sim card in, updated the firmware via iTunes, then synced all of my music/apps (with all of them updated). And on the iPhone under App Store, it still shows 2 updates, even though iTunes says they are all up to date.
In iTunes on my Macbook Pro, if I click on the applications, and select check for updates, it checks, then says no updates available.
Here are some screenshots of my iPhone to help clarify..

After you click App Store and click Updates, this is the screen you get after it loads.. no matter how long you leave it sitting on that screen. (and yes its been tried on different wifi's/no wifi.)

How can I delete my old app store account from update on my IMac

All items that you download from the iTunes store are tied to the account that downloaded them, so only that account can download updates to its apps.
If you are referring to apps from the Mac App Store then you will be better off asking in the Using Mac App Store forum (this is the iTunes Store forum).

iOS 7 allows you to have your apps update automatically. Therefore, the list of what has been updated stays so that you can see what was updated, when and what the release notes say. It has been suggested that they list has a limit, much like Recents. Currently, there is no way for the user to delete the entries manually. Just try not to look at them.

My App Store shows 3 updates but when I go to it the screen is blank. It will not give me the option to update all or one at a time, it doesn't show the apps at all.

Many people are having this problem for the last couple of days. This is a problem that Apple has to fix. If you look around the forum, you will see many, many discusssions about this and they have been going on for a few days.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this is a workaround - for the time being.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store.
