Accidentally hit "Start New Session"... URLs in a crash report or something?

Ok, so I knew it would happen sooner or later, and just kept hoping it would be later...
I hit "Start New Session" instead of restore today... Looked around for previous solutions, and found no sessionstore.bak in my folder...
FF had crashed previously in the day, and I had hoped that would mean all the reloaded windows would be in today's history(some were a few months old), but that doesn't seem to be the case. (and I guess it doesn't help that my system is backdated(cause of 7100))
So I am wondering if there happens to be any sort of crash report archive that may happen to have the urls that were open in some way? Long shot I know but I figured I'd at least ask.

Hello.
Although possibly not related to your problem, I have to remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment has been discontinued and is no longer supported. On top of this, it has known unpatched bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum security, stability, performance and usability. You can get it for free, as always, at [http://www.getfirefox.com getfirefox.com].
If you haven't closed Firefox since then, you can access ''about:sessionrestore'' to restore the lost session. If you closed Firefox in the mean time, I believe there's no way to get your session back. [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Session+Restore Session Restore] will always get your last session back, and solely the last session.
P.S.: I'm not certain ''about:sessionrestore'' is available in old versions of Firefox. Versions of Firefox before 3.5 are no longer supported, in any case, as I said.

  • Accidentally pushed "start new session" after crash. Tabs are gone from history.

    After one of the ten crashes per day since I upgraded, I accidentally pushed, "Start New Session" instead of "restore". So, my '''closed window/tab records were wiped out''', and in my history, it only has those tabs that I opened anew this morning - NOT the ones I had saved so I could look at them later. A lot of these I had not bookmarked yet.

    If you haven't closed Firefox then see if you still can restore that session via Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session.
    You should update the Flash and Java plugin to the latest versions

  • Can I retrieve a crashed session after accidentally clicking "Start new Session"

    After getting the "Embarassing" dialogue, I accidentally clicked "Start new Session" instead of restore. Is there a way to access the cache and restore those tabs and windows? I'm running Windows and have not shut down my machine since the loss.

    First, find your profile folder [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles?s=Profile&as=s#How_to_find_your_profile by reading this]
    Then, copy the files sessionstore.bak and sessionstore.js to another folder such as your desktop.
    Close your Firefox and copy the sessionstore.js to the profile folder, and restart Firefox. See if your session was restored.
    If not, close firefox, proceed to copy the second file (the .bak one) to the profile folder, and rename it to sessionstore.js , overwriting the other file. Restart Firefox.
    If not any of these two files has your session saved, sorry.

    Hi abass4982,
    You could try going to ''History > Restore Previous Session''. It might not work, but it's worth a try!
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Start new session automatically after the current one is expired

    Hi Guys,
    My application should be displayed on the screen 24/7 . The information there is being refreshed every 5 minutes. When the APEX session is expired the refresh stops working and the page has to be reloaded.
    I'm looking for the solution that would allow to keep the application always on and to start new session automatically without a human being involved.
    Thanks in advance,
    Elena

    Hi everybody,
    Being impatient, I've already found a solution. I created a JavaScript function the reloads the page. Instead of current session ID in the url I use 1. In this case apex generates the new session.
    The Timer Plug-in runs the function every X minutes.
    The function code is the following:
    function reload() {
         var url = location.href;
         var g_app_id = '&APP_ID.';
         var g_page_id = '&APP_PAGE_ID.';
         var patt = new RegExp("[^=]+","i");  // i - Perform case-insensitive matching
         var newUrl = url.match(patt) + "=" + g_app_id + ":" + g_page_id + ":1";
         window.location.assign(newUrl);
    I hope it might be helpful for you guys.
    Regards,
    Elena

  • [SOLVED] KDE Start New Session doesn't work from lock screen

    On my laptop, if I lock the KDE 4 session and then click Switch Users > Start New Session, I get a login screen and can log in as a different user. All good.
    If I do the same thing on my desktop, it doesn't work. When I click Switch Users > Start New Session, it doesn't start a new session or switch VTs. Instead, I just get reprompted for the existing user's password.
    Both machines are running fully updated Arch. Anyone know how I can troubleshoot this? The only difference I can think of between the laptop and desktop is that the desktop has nomodeset specified as a kernel boot parameter. (It won't boot without it.) Could this be interfering with automatic VT switching? Manual VT switching (e.g. Ctrl+Alt+F1) works fine.

  • Firefox crashed and now will not start. Cannot create new profile or start in safe mode because Mozilla Crash Reporter appears and will not restart.

    Browing the web, Firefox crashed. Typical "this is embarrassing" window appeared and I could choose to restore or start new session. I tried to restore, and nothing happened. Mozilla Crash Reporter appeared, the option to quit Firefox seems to work but restarting just brings back the Crash Reporter. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, but Crash Reporter persists. I tried looking through your articles on crash on startup, but I cannot open Profile Manager, nor start in safe mode, nor anything else, with that Crash Reporter popping up. I can't give you a crash ID as I can't type anything into Firefox address bar if I can't open the program. I'm running Windows 7 starter edition on a netbook. Honetly really only use Firefox on this machine, so help would be appreciated! Thanks.

    Maybe you did't understand my previous statement. There are no crashes in FF 3.6, There is no previous evidence FF 14 was ever here, I completely uninstalled all trace of Firefox, no app data, no preferences, no cache. I will upgrade to FF14 so I can send IDs,

  • Choice between start new session and restore previous session

    I have refused to update firefox since 2.0.0.14. That's mid 2008. The reason? Because EVERY update I have seen has a critical flaw and I am sick of it never having been addressed. Oh, I have tested it many times. I am impatient in general. I have allowed it to update just now for instance with the naive hope that MAYBE you'd put it back the way it should be, and NOPE, you STILL have the critical epic fail that you introduced some time after 2.0.0.14, and I then had to uninstall firefox and reinstall my copy of 2.0.0.14 and restore my passwords and bookmarks from the key3.db and bookmarks.htm files (which also aren't compatible with the later versions, and that's bad too since it was more efficiently done and more comprehensible and more compatible with common knowledge that way, what the hell is a .json file anyway????), and I am sick of it. It's getting harder and harder to use 2.0.0.14, things constantly say snide things like 'upgrade (downgrade) to a modern browser, your browser is not supported', 'you are using md5 for certificate validation, are you insane?', that sort of thing, and things often don't work right, but it is WORTH every bit of it to avoid the critical epic fail.
    Ok, enough suspense. That critical epic fail is this: when I start firefox after the previous session crashed (or was killed by the task manager), it does NOT give the NICE CHOICE 2.0.0.14 does between "begin new session" and "restore previous session". It automatically restores the previous session. Do you have any idea how many times I have gone to a webpage only to observe it is infected with a virus which it tries to put on my computer, or just a horrible page with a horrible script that seems to involve an infinite loop or at least something incredibly excessive and inefficiently coded that totally eats up the CPU processing power and I BARELY managed to KILL firefox with the task manager? Do you think I want it to go right back to loading that page when I start firefox again? Do you have the BATSH*T INSANE notion that I should always WANT to restore my previous session? Well I DON'T! I killed it with good reason in the first place. 100% of the time mozilla gets killed by the task manager and 90% of the time it crashes, I don't WANT to restore my previous session. Is there some secret hidden feature representing providing this choice that 2.0.0.14 provided that is by default DISABLED that I can maybe enable, or do I have to continue using 2.0.0.14 and watch as more and more and more things refuse to work with it?
    Also, you need to have the "stop" button within reach of the bookmarks and the left side of the address bar, not on the far right of the screen. And I'd also rather not have it be in the same place as the refresh button, though I understand the justification for having the stop button become the refresh button. Is there any way I can also have the "forward, back, stop, refresh" buttons all together and in the most convenient place as they were in 2.0.0.14 while I'm at it?

    Set the pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.

    I spent a good chunk of time Sunday November 10th trimming the number of tabs I had. I closed 900 of them. I was about to restore session after a crash today when the circuit was overloaded. As a result, the "Previous Session" became the Firefox start page. The last version of sessionstore.js is from November 2nd, and sessionstore.bak was last saved on November 5th, so that route's no good. The crash report however was submitted earlier today.

    hello, a crash report does not contain your session data - the only thing that gets submitted is the url of the site that was open & active once firefox crashed.
