Accidentally installed Partition Structure Hotfix twice

I accidentally installed the Partition Structure Hotfix (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds033035) twice (once before a OneKey Recovery, and once after), and now OneKey Recovery won't work. I also get a notification from Intel Rapid Start Technology Manager saying, "Your system does not appear to have Intel Rapid Start Technology enabled."
Can you help me undo this?

Issue w/ Partition Structure Hotfix for Yoga

I tried running Lenovo's Partition Structure Hotfix for Windows 8 on Yoga (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS033035) and it ran into an issue. After the command script runs for a little bit, I get the following problem:
"New File 131072 001.dat
ERROR 32 (0x00000020) Copying File d:\System Volume Information\001.dat
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
Waiting 30 seconds... Retrying..."
It continues to do this over and over until I close it. I have no idea what that file is nor which process is using it, and I was hoping someone could help me understand if there's a way to shut that process down and successfully do the hotfix.

there may be virus/anti-virus process/windows update or windows service so i'm not sure. can you try to re-install the windows by pressing one key recover button then run the hotfix? it will take just a few minutes to re-install the system if you can.

ACCIDENTLY INSTALLED SAME SERIAL NUMBER TWICE

I accidentally installed the same ipod twice. One on the itunes 6.0 version which came with the cd and once again with the itunes 1.1 version which came with the cd i had received with my ipod mini. Does anybody know how to get rid of one of the ipods?

It is okay to have two iPods installed.

iTunes
iPod Updater
Those are the newest versions. They will cover up and install over the previous version. (The older iPod Updater will remain on your computer. Your music will not be affected. However, it is fine to have that iPod updater on your computer in case you have problems with the latest software)
Basically install those and you should be fine. Then you can use both iPods with the computer.

Does my partition structure look suitable for a fresh install of Arch?

I'm doing a fresh install of 64-bit Arch on my primary machine, but I want to make sure my partition structure is suitable for a long-term install (since ideally, I plan to only install Arch once). So far, this is what I plan to use on a 500 GB hard disk:
/dev/sda1 - ntfs - 70 GB (dual boot with win7)
/dev/sda2 - ntfs - 100 GB (shared between linux and win7, primarily for music)
/dev/sda3 - ext4 - 20 GB - for /
/dev/sda4 - ext4/ReiserFS - 12GB - for /var
/dev/sda5 - ext4 - for /home (sized to include the rest of the disk except for 4-8 GB of swap)
/dev/sda6 - swap - is 8GB too large? My system has 4GB, and I heard the rule of thumb that twice the memory is good to have as swap space for use with suspend/hibernate
Since I'm setting up a separate /var partition, I have a quick related question about ReiserFS. According to the wiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Be … stem_types) ReiserFS is a good choice for /var because it works well with many small files. Is this still the case? Since ReiserFS isn't being actively developed at the moment, I want to make the best choice now so I don't need to worry about reinstalling down the road.

The mainline kernel compresses the ram data before writing it to swap since 2.6.37 [1]. I can successfully hibernate my laptop which has 4GB ram and only 1.9GB swap. Of course, only the amount of ram that is actually used by programs is written to swap, all caches and such are just dropped.

OS X wouldn't install after accidentally installing Windows over it

My sister attempted to install Windows XP on her Macbook Pro using boot camp but some how accidentally installed Windows over OS X. I used Disk Utility to erase the drive and reformat it back to "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" but I get the following error when trying to install OS X:
+"Install Failed+
+Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer+
+The Installer cannot prepare the volume for installation. You may need to prepare your disk using Disk Utility.+
+Click Restart to restart your computer and try installing again."+
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a problem setting or hardware wise?

Welcome to Apple Discussions:
In addition to formatting, you need to be sure the disk is partitioned GUID for an Intel machine.
Boot into Leopard DVD and run disk utility again and repartition it and format it at the same time. Because of the bootcamp issue, you might be better making two partitions first and then making one to be sure that the entire disk has a single GUID/HFS+ partition/format scheme.

I know it sounds flunky but here is why I asked the question. My wife uses Windows (I have Windows 7 on a partitrion on my iMac) but the last time I started the copmpuWindows does not work and Microsoft wants me to buy another one!! Go figure huh? This all started coming into my head when I fouynd that I canot get Firefox to work on the site that my wife works on. I have downloaded and installed all the required software for that site but it still will not respond to our input. The site works fine on Windows with Firefox 17 (after several installations of the required software, but to date I have not been able to get Firefox to work on my Max like it is supposed to work. If you have any insights to that problem it would be appreciated by both me and my wife.

ok turn it off manually and turn it back on while holding the apple logo bottor or the function botton this will give you an option to choose if you want to startup with osx ow windows. let me know if this works

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Your proxy network can cause this issue but you can try updating AAM as sometimes updating AAM fixes this kind of hangs in Sign in process.

Hi Ma'e, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Installing OS X should not overwrite your files unless you chose "erase and install". If you chose "Archive and install" look for a folder on the top level of your hard drive called "Previous System".
If you did an "erase and install", If there is any chance of recovery at all your best bet is Prosoft Data Rescue. There is a free trial to see if it can recover what you need. But don't do another process on that drive until you've downloaded and run it. Also, a service that has been recommended but I cannot personally endorse is DriveSavers.

They will not send you an e-mail. They send you an SMS, with the code to activate Whatsapp.
If you don't get the sms, wait 5 minutes with WhatsApp open. The timer will go from 5.00 to 0.00. If it is at 0.00 you can click it. You get the code via Phone. (Automatic)

5800x accidentally installed maps version 2

This is my first post so go easy. I've accidentally installed Maps version 2 on my Nokia 5800. It doesn't work with touchscreen. I was trying to install the Maps uploader and I installed Maps 2 which was on my previous E51. Sorry, bit of a thick moment. I now can't uninstall it as it doesn't appear in the Application manager list or the Application manager on Pc suite. I have tried a factory reset, no good. My version of Maps also doesn't appear on the Nokia downloads list so I can't reinstall it. Any ideas before I bring it to a Nokia centre? Anything would be appreciated, I'm off to Sweden on Friday and it would be nice to have the maps working.
