Accidentally killed dbstart script for 10g

I altered the dbstart script which a modification that was supposed to be for 8i, so it's ruined...
Can someone please just open up their dbstart script (for 10g) with emacs or some editor and paste it here? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

nope...I don't have a backup. I just installed it and was editing it for automatic start and stop, but I was following instructions for 8i and some things are no longer supported in 10g. Can someone open up their 10g dbstart and paste it here?

  • Configure dbstart script Oracle 10g Oracle Enterprise Linux

Hallo!I am a newbie in Oracle 10g having installed Oracle 10g in Oracle Enterprise Linux version 4 update 7.
Please give me a step-by step guide of how to configure dbstart script such that I can start the listener, the database ,Enterprise Manager and isqlplus automatically at boot time.
    Thanks.

dbstart does not work correctly in 10.2.0.4 and 10.2.0.5 (solaris 64bit) I did not try it in 10.2.0.1.
If you look at this thread you will see some discussion of the problem: "dbstart" command error in Oracle10g_Linux
I tried the fix from that thread and dbstart still does not work.
Both dbstart and dbshut are required to have the oracle_home path passed to them as the first argument per the 10gR2 Administrators reference for Unix systems.

  • 10g Install Scripts for OS X

Does anyone have a set of GOOD install scripts for 10g on OS X? I'm in the process of TRYING to install it and am moving incredibly slow. I've spent 99% of my time editing their files just to change the paths for various UNIX commands and scripts.
    Thanx,

While I don't have any install scripts per se, you may want to check out the Oracle 10g Installation Errata Information and Tools page ( see http://www.crispdata.com/oracle_osx/ ), posted by Crisp Data Solutions.
This site lists some tips for installing Oracle 10g on Mac OS X.

  • Startup Scripts for 8i / 9i mixed environment

We have used the Oracle dbshut and dbstart scripts for our 8i instances. We are adding 9i and using spfiles, but the Oracle scripts only read the init files. Does anyone have a modified version that starts 8i instances using init files but 9i instances using spfiles?

This is probably as good a place as any for the question I have:
I'm unable to figure out how to get my 9i database to start/stop via dbstart/dbshut without hardcoding the username password for sys in the dbstart/dbshut scripts. Since this 9i database is just a toy on my home Linux server, hardcoding the password is no big deal. However, it wouldn't wash in a professional setting...
The dbstart script, after determining its a 9i database, starts sqlplus and connects as such:
    connect / as sysdba
I'm running dbstart as Linux user oracle which has the primary group dba, and dba was compiled into the rdbms. When the connect statement is run, I get the ora-01031 insufficient privs error. I assumed this is because I don't have a user named oracle in the database.
So, I created user oracle in the database with the "identified externally" clause. When I tried to grant sysdba to oracle, it is not allowed (ora-01997).
So, I'm perplexed... All I'm trying to do is get the database to start and stop with the machine. Nothing remote is involved.

  • Scripts for killing blocking oracle processes?

We are having a problem in that when a user disconnects improperly, the oracle processes on our Oracle Apps box don't die properly and rows remain locked. For other terminal based versions, the script to kill the process is pretty simple, but for the web-based, java interface, it's unclear how I would go about doing this. Does anyone have scripts for doing this that could run via cron? The applications are running on solaris 2.6.
    Thanks,

Take a look at note 130709.1 on Metalink. It contains configuration info for httpds.conf - your Apache configuration file. You can use this to time-out sessions properly. Hope this helps.

OK, I did this once and did not follow the oracle docs
If you saved your targets.xml before you started you might save it by renaming it back.
(Double check to make sure you did not miss a rename)
Otherwise, all I have to offer is my rough notes:
    1. Backup the file $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml.
    [oracle@ias02 emd]$ pwd
    /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/sysman/emd
    cp targets.xml targets.xmlbackup
    2. Modify the file targets.xml by changing all the occurrences of the wrong reports server name by the correct one.
    i.e. Replace rep_test_midtier with rep_new (4 places - changes)
Copy the conf file as follows: ( this will named different from system to system )
    cp /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_pia_oracleas.conf /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_fam.conf
    run this script:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/addNewServerTarget.sh rep_fam          (change rep_fam to new report server name)
    3.Update the changed configuration .
    /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig -ct opmn -v -d
    /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl resyncinstance -v -d
    4. Restart the Application Server Control Console
    /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl stop iasconsole
    /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl start iasconsole
    In the file:
    /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/config/reportsConfig.properties
Change the Reports_Server_Name setting from rep_test_midtier to rep_fam (change rep_fam to new report server name)
Best Wishes (I was able to save mime)
The other option is to reinstall

  • Here are scripts for getting OAS302 working on RedHat 6.0

People have said this doesn't work. It works. It's just the
owsctl that doesn't work. I'm not saying that oas302 on RedHat 6
is the best solution anyone could come up with, but it does work,
and if you want to do it, here are some scripts that you can feel
free to modify and use as you wish. Various variables should be
updated with however you system is configured. Remember to start
the wrb (i.e. the second script) before you start any listeners.
Linux has a tendency to crash if you don't kill -KILL all the wrb
processes at the same time (i.e. the kernel gets an uncaught
    exception and dies).

    Hi Erick,
Your scripts for running the OAS302 on 6.0 linux had been very
    helpful.
In fact, I dont know what would I have done without them.
Now I am able to run the listeners and even able to create the
packages and users in the database via the OAS 3.0.2 but the
problem starts when accessing a procedure in the database using
the pl/sql agent. By the way i am using Oracle 8.0.5.1 RDBMS and
its home is different than the webserver home.
The browser just does nothing and even does not log any error
message ,I have to stop it after a while but all my other
    catridges are working.
    any insight will be appreciated.
    thanks,
Vikram ( Ironically enough I work for Oracle).

    Hi all,

I am new to 10G.I checked out the options to backup the database using Oracle Enterprise manager DB console.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/10gr2_db_single/ha/rman/rman_otn.htm#t1d
I am planning to take a test backup using the steps mentioned inthe above url.Could any one suggest whcih is the best option for database backup, eiether to use Oracle Enterprise manager DB console or thru RMAN shell script for backup..?

I woudn't suggest you to work with EM if you want to be a professional DBA. Start learning RMAN and use CLI instead of GUI

  • [SOLVED] advanced shell script for mount and unmount samba share

    Good morning guys,
Today I've a very long question....
    Hope in your help....:
I usually move from different network.
For one of those I need to mount some share that are under an ActiveDirectory server.
To do that I use samba.
Especially I've made and use the below  shell script.
I know that it's so stupid but I'm a very newbie:
    #!/bin/sh
echo "This is a custom script for mount my citrix share"
echo "Please insert user password (must a sudoer user)"
    echo " "
    sudo mount -t cifs -o username='myusername',password='mypassword' //host_ip/TsHome$/myusername /home/myuser/samba_share/TsHOME
    sudo mount -t cifs -o username='myusername',password='mypassword' "//host_ip/direction" /home/myuser/samba_share/direction
    echo " "
read -p "Press ENTER key to close this terminal"
    exit
As I say the script work but it's so crude...!
I want/need to implement it whit the follow addictions:
    1. print a feedback on mount: somenthing like "TsHOME is now mounted" or "unable to mount TsHOME"
    2. check if the share are already mounted: to prevent accidentally multiple mount. If a share is already mounted I want to print something like "TsHOME is already mounted on /home/myuser/samba_share/TsHOME"
    3. ask for share password  (now it's in clear on script) - This is optinal
    4. un-mount the share before reboot or shutdown command. That because I've notice that If i reboot or shutdown without manually un-mount the share the step of unmounting network file system became very slow
If it's no extremely difficult, can someone help me to write this script?
I know that man exist but I'm not a programmer and it's so difficult for me approch it.
    Thank you in advance.
    Ale

    Thank you very (VERY) much!
I've follow your information and.. it work!
If can be usefull to other this is the complete script:
    #!/bin/sh
echo "This is a custom script for mount citrix share"
    echo "****************************************"
    echo " "
    echo "Please insert domain password:"
    read -s mypassword
    echo " "
echo "|checking mount state...in share are not mounted mount it!|"
    echo "+-------------------------------------------------------------------------+"
if grep "TsHome" /etc/mtab &>/dev/null; then
grep "TsHome" /etc/mtab | awk '{print "TsHome is already mounted on " $2}'
    else
sudo mount -t cifs -o username='yourusername',password="$mypassword" //ipaddress/TsHome$ /home/Samba_share/TsHOME && echo "TsHOME is now mounted" || echo "unable to mount TsHOME"
    fi
    echo " "

    fi
    echo " "
    echo "All DONE!"
    echo " "
read -p "Press ENTER key to close this terminal"
    exit
I don't really well understand what I've to put in rc.local.shutdown....
    I think somethings like:
    #!/bin/bash
    # /etc/rc.local.shutdown: Local shutdown script.
echo "This is a custom script for UN-mount citrix share"
    echo "********************************************"
    echo " "
echo "|check mount state: if mount then un-mount!|"
    echo "+-------------------------------------------------------+"
    echo " "
if grep "TsHome" /etc/mtab &>/dev/null; then
grep "TsHome" /etc/mtab | awk '{print "TsHome is NOT mounted -> going on..." $2}'
    else
sudo umount /home/Samba_share/TsHOME && echo "TsHOME is now UN mounted" || echo "unable to UN-mount TsHOME"
    fi
    echo " "
if grep "direction" /etc/mtab &>/dev/null; then
grep "direction" /etc/mtab | awk '{print "direction is NOT mounted -> going on.." $2}'
    else
sudo umount /home/Samba_share/direction && echo "direction is now UN mounted" || echo "unable to UN-mount direction pat"
    fi
    echo " "
if grep "Area" /etc/mtab &>/dev/null; then
grep "Area" /etc/mtab | awk '{print "Area is NOT mounted - Finished" $2}'
    else
sudo umount /home/Samba_share/Area && echo "Area is now UN mounted" || echo "unable to UN-mount Area"
    fi
    echo " "
    echo "going shutdown"
    echo " "
    sleep 5
I've try but it seems to ignore the IF statement... this is the output when ALL share are UNmounted:
    $ sh /etc/rc.local.shutdown
This is a custom script for UN-mount citrix share
    |check mount state: if mount then un-mount!|
    +-------------------------------------------------------+
    umount: /home/Samba_share/TsHOME: not mounted
    unable to UN-mount TsHOME

    unable to UN-mount direction
    umount: /home/Samba_share/Area: not mounted
    unable to UN-mount Area
    going shutdown
Tomorrow I will test again when I'm at office.
Meanwhile can you check if I made a macroscopic mistakes?
    Thank you again!

  • Udev bash script for autodialing usb huawei modem

    Hey
I've got an interesting one here.
I have scripted up a bash script to be triggered by a udev add event for my usb modem. As far as I can tell the udev event is firing correctly according to udevadm.

  • HACMP Clustering Script for SAP ECC 6.0 (SR1) - Automatic Failover-Oracle10

    Hello,
I have installed the SAP ECC 6.0 (SR1) under AIX 5.3 / Oracle 10g with HACMP Clustering environment. Manual Failover is working fine. ASCS and Database instances are loaded in share drive with Virtual IP and Virtual name. Central Instance and Dialog Instance are loaded locally in Node A and Node B. I want to get HACMP Clustering script(automatic failover script) for Automation. Please help me if you have.
    Thanks

Here are HA stop & start scripts that you should be able adapt for your particular circumstances. Based on earlier versions of SAP / Oracle but assume should be a reasonable guide

  • Startup scripts for DB in one $OH and AS in another $OH

Hello, I am setting up Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g on a SLES9 SP3 machine. I have used the installers and followed the docs (so I ended up creating oracle users, setting kernel params, modifying limites, etc myself). I am now trying to figure out how to get this setup to start on boot. I found the orarun package but the Oracle Collaboration Suite (OCS) docs seem to recommend against this. I am willing to use it if it works, however. I have also looked at the ocsctl_sample script that is installed in the apps tier, but that doesn't seem to handle starting a db in a different $OH and can not be run by root. I wrote a wrapper to use "su oracle -c cmd" but that didn't work out either.
The setup I have is a database instance in one $ORACLE_HOME, and then the app server and apps in a separate $ORACLE_HOME (infrastructure/OID is on another server). Both of these $OH instances are listed in /etc/oratab of course. Since OCS handles mail it listens on privileged ports (25, 143, etc), so this listener may need to be started by root. I am thinking I only want one opmn instance, one apache instance, and one em instance on the system as well. I read through the init.d/oracle script from the orarun package and it seems like it only looks at the first $OH found in /etc/oratab if the /etc/profile.d/oracle.sh file is not found (I moved it out of the way as I have two scripts I use to set oracle environments depending on whether I'm working on the db or the as).
Has anyone either used orarun or developed other scripts for starting a db instance in one $OH and an app server in another? Any tips?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

Well, the issue is really multiple ORACLE_HOMEs. The single box install of OCS is two, in OCS 9i it was three. There is no problem with it, you just have to set the environment(mr obvious).
As far as having a single EM, you'll have two on your apps box. One for the apps, the other for the DB. Again, no problem because they are on different ports.
So, I guess the simplest explanation is just to write your own script. You can either create a sudoer for the mail listener, or set the setuid bit. There is a note on metalink for starting the mail listener as Oracle user.
The safest way would be to log in as root each time the mail listener needs started, it depends what you can tolerate. You will come across these very same issues if you setup the web cache etc. for reserved ports.
Another issue for automating the startup with your environment, is the fact that it is on two boxes. The processes need started in a particular order, the DB, Infra, then the apps. I don't have a good suggestion for that. You really should have put the DB and infra on one box, and the apps on another.
